Sullying your virgin talk space

So my computer crashed last weekend. I know, sob sob, it's okay. But the good news is I have all new, um, everything. I'm loving Firefox 2.0 (yea spell check!) Two quick questions, though. First, I'm not able to use the alt functions now (for instance, I can't patrol using alt-p, or upload using alt-u). Any way to turn this on, or any remedies of which you know? Second, I somehow lost my picture editing program, and can't remember what it was. Is there a good free one (yes, I'm a cheapo) I can download? Thanks! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:26, 1 March 2007 (EST)

  • I hope you used the Firefox link at the bottom of the wiki, Ryan.  :) As for photo editing, if you want something simple try Picassa. There's a link to that at the bottom of the page, too. :) If you want more power, I like the GIMP. Free, open-source... and has a Windows version for you people still stuck on Windows. :) (Admin 21:48, 1 March 2007 (EST))
  • I dunno if that was a typo or not, but all of the alt functions show up as Alt+Shift+(Letter) on mine, not Alt+(Letter).--Hardvice (talk) 00:14, 2 March 2007 (EST)
    • Actually, it wasn't a typo. On my old Firefox, it was just alt+letter. Including shift works like a charm. Cheers! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:21, 2 March 2007 (EST)

Image site Linking

Do you know how to Link External Image to Show in this site? without uploading? [http://www.link.com [img:http://www.img.jpg|text]]] [[User:RED|[img:http://www.img.jpg|text]]]]
~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 10:46, 7 March 2007 (EST)

  • All images should be uploaded to the site.--Hardvice (talk) 13:58, 7 March 2007 (EST)

Sorry

Sorry about that (adding the two non-Preview Parasite clips. I hate this Canada-early thing....) I'm glad you brought it to my attention though....I'll just have to avoid all-things-Heroes until later tonight. At least those two clips weren't too 'spoilery'. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 03/5/2007 16:30 (EST)

  • The Haitian/Claire/Other Person one is pretty spoilery.--Hardvice (talk) 16:33, 5 March 2007 (EST)
    • Yes, quite an interesting suprise in that entire scene....nothing humongous, but quite interesting. I am glad I didn't end up finding some huge spoiler thingy like "Sylar tries to cut open Mr Muggles skull and finds out that he is really the all-powerful Uluru", or anything like that. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 03/5/2007 17:42 (EST)
      • I believe they're saving that scene for Season Two. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:52, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Simowned

You've probably been waiting since Genesis to be able to say that, haven't you? :) (Admin 23:46, 5 March 2007 (EST))

  • More or less. Now we need new characters with long o's in their names.--Hardvice (talk) 23:47, 5 March 2007 (EST)
  • I suppose my hopes now lie with "AndOWNED!" I think "HirOWNED!" is too unlikely a this stage.--Hardvice (talk) 01:59, 6 March 2007 (EST)

Google

  • Hey, if you do a Google search for Heroes from http://google.com, does Heroes Wiki show up at the bottom of the first page for you? It's showing up there for me at the moment (placement is usually pretty fickle)... I'm excited to see it hit the top results finally. (Admin 01:55, 6 March 2007 (EST))
    • #8, not counting subpage hits. Booyakasha!--Hardvice (talk) 01:58, 6 March 2007 (EST)
      • Excellent. The site has been working its way up and down page 2 for a while. It'll probably dip back down there eventually, but the overall trend has been positive. (Admin 02:00, 6 March 2007 (EST))

Public Service Announcement

It really needs to be added to the welcome template! What do you say? Heroe 20:05, 6 March 2007 (EST)

  • I think that would be kind of ... rude.--Hardvice (talk) 22:07, 6 March 2007 (EST)

Template:Gitelman Tree

I don't know to do it; could you add Hana's grandmother to the tree?--Cylon 17:43, 9 March 2007 (EST)

  • She's intentionally left off. We don't know for sure if she's her mother's mother or her father's mother.--Hardvice (talk) 17:47, 9 March 2007 (EST)

Ryan Smith

Any idea who Ryan Smith is? IMDb lists him as playing a deputy (I'm assuming at the Burnt Toast Diner) in Six Months Ago and Homecoming. He was also in Las Vegas, which is nice. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:15, 10 March 2007 (EST)

  • I think he's one of the ones we couldn't really identify. He must be one of the ones who speaks in Homecoming as they arrest Peter, since he's credited, but I'm not sure which. Incidentally, my best friend when I was a kid had a younger brother called "Ryan Smith". Probably not the same guy, I'm guessing--but y'know, "Smith" is such an uncommon name, to say nothing of "Ryan". Only weirdos name their kids ... ah ... Ryan.--Hardvice (talk) 17:19, 10 March 2007 (EST)
    • I knew a guy named Ryan Smith in elementary school. (Again, probably not the same guy.) However, were sworn enemies, precisely because we had the same first name. Kids... — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:22, 10 March 2007 (EST)
      • OK, now that his IMDb has pictures, he's easier to locate. He's the first one on the scene when Peter's arrested in Homecoming (picture coming). Haven't seen him in Six Months Ago; I'm presuming he's at the diner, since the only other Midland-Odessa scenes are at the Bennet home.--Hardvice (talk) 17:24, 10 March 2007 (EST)
        • That's kinda what I was thinking, since there's not too many common places in those two eps. Although, IMDb has been known to be wrong. (James Kyson Lee is credited for 19 Heroes episodes, and Santiago Cabrera is credited with only 3. Go figure.) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:28, 10 March 2007 (EST)
          • Actually, I think it's just because Peter's arrest appears again at the end of 6MA. It's shot from a slightly different angle, and our boy Ryan speaks again, so I guess he would need a credit, even though it's the same scene.--Hardvice (talk) 17:31, 10 March 2007 (EST)
            • Weird. He was also credited as the "Montecito Deputy" in some crap show Standoff. Looking at the episode, it appears to be a bank, not a casino. But I guess this R.S. likes to get his deputy on. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:38, 10 March 2007 (EST)
              • He has a case of copface.--Hardvice (talk) 17:41, 10 March 2007 (EST)
              • While we're on the subject, are there any other overlooked trivial characters we can add?--Hardvice (talk) 17:44, 10 March 2007 (EST)

Parking lot

Aw, shiz ... I just got done linking the stupid parking lot. It's definitely a convenience store where they stop, but I mistook some newspaper kiosks for gas pumps when I was looking at this pic as a thumb. It's not a gas station, is it? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:13, 10 March 2007 (EST)

  • Nope. Oddly enough, I had named this pic "Primm gas station hope ando.jpg" when I capped it, thinking the same thing, and then realized that Steve's outside a liquor store and a Greyhound station.--Hardvice (talk) 18:15, 10 March 2007 (EST)
