Meredith Gordon tells Claire that, after the fire, she lived for some time in Cuernavaca and then in La Paz. She gives Claire a necklace she got in Mexico.
Lizards
Maya and Alejandro wish to cross the border into Mexico, and seek the help of a a woman called Nidia. She tells them she will assist them in crossing the river into the country.
Kindred
Maya and Alejandro have been running for a long time, and Alejandro tells his sister that they need to rest. He breaks the windows of a Cadillac, but he is spotted by a police officer, and arrested. Alejandro tells Maya to run, which she does, resting in an alley. She then heads to the police station and attempts to get Alejandro released. She spots a mugshot of her and Alejandro, and tells the police she is dangerous. When they attempt to subdue her, she secretes black tears, and they collapse. Maya frees Alejandro, and, along with another prisoner, they leave, using a stolen car to drive away.
The Kindness of Strangers
Maya, Alejandro and Derek continue to drive, when they see a man in the road. They turn him over; it is Sylar. He asks if he can ride with them, and they agree. Sylar introduces himself as Gabriel Gray, and Maya remarks, "Like the angel." The four of them stop at a shop, and, upon seeing the mugshot, Sylar kills Derek, before going back to the car. He tells Maya and Alejandro that Derek is calling the police, and Maya's ability begins to manifest. When Alejandro stops the tears, Sylar realises they both have abilities, and drives away.
