Character History
Atsumi helps Ando follow the story of Hiro and Takezo Kensei by restoring the legibility of faded scrolls written by Hiro in the distant past.
Atsumi reads ahead in the scrolls when he is caught by Ando. Although enraptured in Hiro's story, he reluctantly returns back to the last place Ando was at. Afterwards, at an abrupt end, he tells Ando that there are no more scrolls.
In Chapter 1, “The Battle of the Twelve Swords”, Curator Tatsuya Atsumi documented that Takezo Kensei knew to save Japan, he would have to defeat White Beard.
In Chapter 2, “The Trial of the Fire Scroll”, Tatsuya documents that the Fire Scroll contains strategies, secrets, and locations of White Beard’s operations.
In Chapter 3, “The Trial of the Hidden Fortress”, Tatsuya claims that White Beard’s army at the Hidden Fortress was numerous because it was the largest in all of Japan.
In Chapter 5, “The Mystery of Kensei”, Curator Tatsuya documents that Takezo Kensei means “Sword Saint” and that no parents would actually name their child this, but that it was likely a name given to him. The curator says that we have little records of Kensei's actual name or if he even existed. Tatsuya also comments that Daniel Linderman kept the largest collection of Kensei artifacts and refused for them to go on tours.
