'''Welcome to Heroes Wiki!''' |

Hey Jan! (Or would you like being called Can?) You're Turkish, right? We are neighbours, of a sort, then. A sea, as black as Stephen Canfield's ability, divides our countries. Guess where I am from? {{User:Altes/Signature}} |

Here are a few links to get you started: |

* Hi Altes :) Yes I'm from Turkey. I guess you're from Russia. Is it right? Or any other country having border with the black sea? By the way, I've created the name Jan because almost no one knows to read "Can" and they pronounce "Ken" or something :) If you call me Can, I feel more intimate because that's my real name; but I don't mind at all if you call me Jan. --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 08:17, 4 October 2009 (EDT) |

==Hey== |

I'm trying to fill in the blanks; write about the summary of the latest [[Graphic Novel:Libertad]], and also adding the photos of the newly found characters. |
|||
Hi Jan. I saw that you are a fan of ''Kyle XY'', just as I am. I have been wondering something for a while now, and you are the only person I know who likes the show (weird huh?). Do you have any theories on why they have such a long gap in time when each season ends? It just kind of bugs me that it takes so long for it to come back.--{{User:Catalyst/sig}} 21:18, 6 October 2009 (EDT) |
|||
I didn't understand why you deleted the photos? |
|||
* ''Kyle XY'' is one of my favorites. I think they have such a long gap between seasons because they air the show in the summers, so there's more time between the end and the beginning. The seasons are also much shorter than normal (10 episodes, I think, as opposed to 20+ episodes for a regular show), so there's more time between seasons. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 22:27, 6 October 2009 (EDT) |
|||
** I'm very happy that you guys like the show as I do. I actually bought the DVD, which I do for only the shows I actually am a great fan of. (Else, I only have some DVDs of Smallville and Heroes but not any other show.) While waiting for a long time, for the show to start again, I was also intrigued by the same question around two weeks ago. And I searched the net about when the show is coming back. Very saddening and frustrating it was to me; I found out that the show was unfortunately cancelled. Sorry guys for such a bad news. But I still little bit hope that I might be wrong. --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 06:22, 7 October 2009 (EDT) |

Thanks in advance, |

Hi Ryan, |
|||
Sincerely, |
|||
I just wanted to ask about a little thing. I'd based "[[Mohinder's office]]" to the name of the wiki article itself and to the name, the user [[User:Heroes360|Heroes360]] used in his user page. However, [http://heroes.startv.com/Heroes/games/ there is a website], if you go and enter the site, you can play the game and there it calls it "Suresh's Loft". So may be the site made the name up so, or was it really called so? --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 02:27, 8 October 2009 (EDT) |

Hi Ryan, |
|||
== Edits to your userpage == |
|||
I was just thinking that the first names should redirect to the characters if there're no other characters by that name, like Sandra redirecting to Sandra Bennet... But do we do that to only important characters? By the way, I hope I'm not doing too many or uncontrolled edits, like the ones I reverted today, the episode numbers... or should I've asked you before reverting what some people do? And what do you think of [[User:Janrodrigo/How to Relive Heroes|How to Relive Heroes]]? It's just a start, I plan on including everything. I advance slowly, because I've a thesis to write, but my head is a mess, these days... Anyway, just wanted to say hello actually. Take care, --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 22:45, 8 October 2009 (EDT) |
|||
Hey there. I notice you've been making an awful lot of edits to ''User:Janrodrigo/Volume 1 Characters''. In the future, it would be much appreciated if you could refrain from doing this by using the "Show Preview" button to proofread your edits before you save them. This way, it reduces the amount of work that [[Patrollers]] have to do. Thanks. {{User:Thrashmeister/Autosig}} 11:24, 14 February 2009 (EST) |
|||
* For redirects, I don't think they only need to be for "important" characters, but in the case of Jonas Zimmerman, his first name comes from a deleted scene. There's nothing really wrong with that, but it is kind of a dodgy source, or at least not one that's well known. But if anybody is searching for [http://heroeswiki.com/Special:Search?search=jonas&go=Go Jonas], the first pages that come up have to do with Dr. Zimmerman, so people will find the page pretty quickly. As for your edits, they're terrific. Keep them up. You were correct to revert the episode numbers. ''Ink'' is, indeed, 402, and ''Acceptance'' is the third chapter of the fourth volume. Cool subpage, too! :) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 22:54, 8 October 2009 (EDT) |

* Oops, sorry. I didn't know. Is there a way for me to understand whether a new user is a vandal or not? And should I undo those welcome messages? Thanks and sorry again --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 20:29, 11 October 2009 (EDT) |
|||
**Vandals are pretty easy to spot. (They change real info and create pages that don't help the site). So Just look at recent changes to see who does those things. And I think you can leave the welcome messages.--{{User:Catalyst/sig}} 20:32, 11 October 2009 (EDT) |
|||
** No need to undo the messages. If you happen to see that somebody is blocked on the [http://heroeswiki.com/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=block&user=&page= block log], you probably don't need to welcome them. (Any user whose name starts with a variation of "mdj" is probably a vandal, too.) *Patience Thoreson have been to a party with her high school classmates for the 40th year of their graduation (in 2005 I think). The photo is from that party. Diane Crooke's photo is from her facebook account and it's clear that it's not another Diane Crooke because she's friend with many other Heores crew members, including Allan Arkush. As the sources are on my laptop and now the laptop is not with me (I'm writing from another computer), I'll let you know the exact websites as soon as I can. "[Claire] is in college with a new best friend and roommate," said Panettiere of Claire Bennett's life for the year. While the actress is uncertain if Claire will be in college throughout the year, the setting introduces something the character has not had since the first season: a close friend. "She's finally got what Zach was: a confidant. Somebody she can tell her secrets to; who she can trust," Panettiere revealed. "That's a very delicate balance that can easily fall apart and one little misstep and her dad will bring <u>Rene the Haitian</u> to wipe their memories." {{blurbclose}} |

* That interview comes from a former Heroes Wiki editor who, in my opinion, makes lots of mistakes in his transcripts. He has a history of sloppy interviewing on Heroes Wiki, Lostpedia, and his own site. Certainly it's possible that the Haitian's name was revealed, but I think it's entirely plausible that the interviewer misheard Hayden Panettiere when she said something else. I also have a hard time believing that such a huge revelation would be spilled in an conversation with a relatively no-name interviewer (who also has a history of being a drama queen and going to great lengths to seek attention). -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 09:20, 12 October 2009 (EDT) |

|||
** Ok, I see you copied mine and added some things to it. Up till January 26, 2009, a user by the name of [[User:Heroes360|Heroes360]] has kept records of Evolutions site updates and the like on his page. Some feedback: |
|||
**# The '''colored media note''' about the canon/non-canon GNs is fact mixed with my own personal opinion. I do not know if you agree with the opinion part it or if anyone else here does. If you do agree with my opinion, you can leave it in there. if you do not you should consider removing or rewording in accordance with your own opinion with regard to the media. |
|||
**# The extra notation is hard to understand, and it might be helpful to explain how to read it or what it means somewhere on the page (Im assuming release dates?). |
|||
**# I am a little uncomfortable with it mirroring my own page so closely. If all you are going to do is copy my page as your page and put Heroes website updates and release/air dates in it, we might as well work together on incorporating that data into my page (I had been considering placing release/air date information in my page anyway, but I never added it because I've never needed that piece of information). That way we'll have one page with all the information rather than two almost identical pages with only minor differences between the two. --{{User:SacValleyDweller/sig}} 00:43, 16 February 2009 (EST) |
|||
***What I'm planning to do is to create a thorough version including, all the evolutions, release dates and also to which date it corresponds in the Heroes universe etc... But I would be glad if we could work together. I wouldn't like to mirror your page neither but just in the beginning it seems so. I copied it to have a base. I have a base but on Microsoft Word, so yours is just more sound base. I want to build up on it. I'm not sure about the GN theory but it seems logical. Look at the page now. How is it? Just the beginning of beginning of change. :) I hope we work together. Thanks, --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 00:52, 16 February 2009 (EST) |
|||
****#Ok, since you have made progress on your modifications to my content, I'll take the content of your page and paste it over the content of mine. There, you can continue to add release date information and the Evolutions messages (you will be making changes to my page then, but I'm OK with that). I'll work on clarifying it, making sure it is grammatically correct, and formatting it such that it is easy to understand. |
|||
****#I see now that some of your notation indicates the in-universe dates for the events that transpired in the media. While a good idea in it's own right, it does not fit with the purpose of my page, which is to outline when everything related to Heroes happened form the perspective of the real world. Because of that, that notation would not make it to my page. Another user by the name of [[User:Ricard Desi|Ricard Desi]] has a [[User:Ricard Desi/Condensed timeline|similar idea]] of breaking down when the events depicted in Heroes media happened in the Heroes universe, and might welcome your input, as he has stalled in his project. |
|||
*****So, shall we proceed? --{{User:SacValleyDweller/sig}} 01:34, 16 February 2009 (EST) |
|||
******I'm ok with continuing from your page. But I'm not sure if I understand what you mean second. The notation can be changed but I definitely want to put both dates (real world & heroes world). What do you say? --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 01:42, 16 February 2009 (EST) |
|||
*******After further consideration, your "Heroes World" dates (which are more properly referred to as in-universe dates) would be ok. I do have some information on the in-universe content of some media on the page already, so adding more in-universe information, formatted the same way, would be OK for consistency sake. I'll go ahead and paste your work on top of mine and clear your page now. After that, you can keep adding what you want, and I'll streamline it tomorrow. --{{User:SacValleyDweller/sig}} 02:14, 16 February 2009 (EST) |

On our collaboration, I reworked the intro to be more concise and I reformatted a few of your entries for the first few weeks to the way I think it reads the best. I also think, now that I look at it, numbering more than Webisodes, iStories, GN's and Episodes will make the page harder to read and understand. --{{User:SacValleyDweller/sig}} 03:05, 23 February 2009 (EST) |
|||
Hey! I noticed that you had put some names on my subpage, [[User:Iheartheroes/Complete List of Characters|Complete List of Characters]] (or CLoC for short) and I just want to say thank you! But, can you please refrain from doing that in the future? I, can't read the GN's and IStories so I don't usually trust the character appearances for a while because I know how quickly they can be changed. I like to do things in an orderly fashion, and I don't know if you noticed, but I have two things at the top of the page. One says "As Of:". That means that every character as of...(insert episode, GN, iStory, or webisode here) is listed in the list. The second says that if I have a problem with my page (and there is a list of rules that are right underneath it) to put it on the discussion page and I will take notice of it as soon as possble. Also, you had put Amanda's last name. If it is a full name(like it was) then it would be bold and the last name is how I alphabetize it. But thank you any ways! And I'm sorry if this came out like I was mad about it, I really am not! I even appreciate you trying to help, I just do things a certain way and I would get messed up if they were done any other way. Sorry again! And thanks too! *Hi, Thank you for the edits. As I'd just started editing, I was going to change all the "EW"s to "HE"s. Just one comment. I picked the term "Social Networking Website" from Wikipedia and as far as I know blogs are not SNWs. So if you don't mind I prefer to group them with Web Sites. Look at [[User:Janrodrigo/Heroes Release and Arc Chronology]]. There I've prepared the order with which all of the HE are published. By the way I let it, HEV (Heroes Evolutions Videos) because you'd also say so. You got only one thing wrong. Those folders (HEF or simply F) don't contain audio and video. The audio and video are separately contained on the sites, like the ones you called '''HEV'''. And the folders contain all the pdfs, the assignment trackers etc... Hasta luego, amigo, --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 04:06, 23 February 2009 (EST) |

**So, what do you think? --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 15:33, 23 February 2009 (EST) |
|||
*** So far so good. Keep going! :) However,a few stipulations: <br />One: (this is minor), in universe dates should be writen in the format "Month Day, Year," as that is the date format most familiar to Americans <br />Two: I think there is an excess of numbered things on the page now. Listing things like "HE S 2.02.13 PrimatechPaper.com The Rabbit Hole Opens" with the triple numbers is too much. Here's my line of thinking: The only things that need numbers are the bigger things that actually are numbered here at the wiki and are treated in special ways by our (the whole of HeroesWiki) documentation. These are the episodes, webisodes, GN's, and iStories ([[episodes]], [[Graphic Novels|GN]]s, and [[webisodes]] have namespaces and related portals, [[iStory]] has the linked page and [[Portal:iStory Chapters|this portal]]) The rest, like in-character messages ([[Hana's messages]] for example) and changes to websites, despite most of those being numbered here too, are far too small and numerous to warrant numbering of that format on the page. The triple numbers make it harder to read for those who just stumble on the page and want to quicky skim its contents (such people were the page's intended readers). The numbering was only to equate the title of the work (ep, GN, etc.) with the number that HeroesWiki used to catalog it. The only thing I saw that needed the triple numbering (of the format 3.03.12) was the webisodes. The reason being was to give them a similar treatment to the episodes in that the first two functioned like an episode number (episode 3.03 = third season, third episode in the season; Web 3.03 = third arc of webisodes, third webisode in the arc). The last number I placed in the scheme because the Wiki didn't document the webisodes like that, only deciding to going with the simplistic straight numbering; number 1, number 2, number 3, etc. (the reasoning behind that policy was and is unimportant to me). Since you, I assume, are planning to put every single evolutions video (like [[Hana's_blog#Hana's_forty-forth_post|the one that Drucker sent Hana]]) I think that the numbering of the videos should go as well. If you think that what I think does not need a number actually needs a number, a more simplistic numbering scheme may be better suited to the goal of ease of comprehension. --{{User:SacValleyDweller/sig}} |

**** I think that you're actually right about numbering, I'll simplify them making them just "two-numbered" instead of three. Like S 1.01 is enough. Although I don't agree with the date style (the American style is confusing for me and also for most of the Europeans), I'll try to adjust and apply: ''October 28'' etc... I've a question. What do you think we should put each time; the internal link (Heroes wiki link) or the external link? With some of them, the external link doesn't exist anymore and directs automatically to nbc.com. --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 04:06, 24 February 2009 (EST) |

Hi Ryan, |
Hi Ryan, |
||
I've a question for you. I was going to create the page for [[Michael Dunitz]], a location manager for ''Heroes'' and whom seem to be "self" for ''Heroes Unmasked'' ([http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0242315/ see here]). I didn't exactly understand what means "self" in terms of production. After watching the related unmasked episode, I kindda understood it as him playing himself. (correct?) But anyway, I cannot make a sentence in English to express that in his page. |
|||
'''Michael Dunitz''' is a location manager for ''Heroes''. He also is a <u>self</u> for ''Heroes Unmasked''. |
|||
I'm kind of new here and trying to learn, at the same time I'm trying to perfect the wiki as much as I can. |
|||
Can you actually say that!? Or better, please help me out about how to express that. I don't wanna create a page with funny sentences in it. |
|||
I have a question. In the [[Graphic Novel:It Takes a Village, Part 2]], the Haitian has two friends and both of them '''speak'''. So they are two characters who appear in the novel. Why not to mention them? I thought it would be proper to mention all the characters appearing both in the episodes and in the graphic novels. |
|||
Thanks, |
|||
By the way, check out [[User:SacValleyDweller/Release and Arc Order]]. I'm trying to gather all of the heroes media in temporal order. |

Sincerely, |
|||
* If he appears in a video where he is himself (as opposed to playing a character), he is credited as "self". We don't even need to include that on his credits, to be honest. In fact, since it's a ''Heroes''-related production, the most you would want to do is put it in the notes with a link to ''[[Heroes Unmasked]]''. But really, you'll want to focus on his past experience as a location manager. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 14:12, 25 October 2009 (EDT) |

The tables on your user page are set to a width of 1080px. For users that don't have a screen that is that wide (say, only 750px), your user page extends all the way over to the left, past the search bar, and off the page. I suggest you change it to <code>width: 100%</code> instead. Before joining the wiki I had already prepared in Microsoft Word such a list (though not thorough) without knowing there was one here :) <br> Anyway, I have question. I thought you might help me. I don't much about these naming conventions but I would like to know if it would be proper to name: ''The Haitian's friend (I)'', ''The Haitian's friend (II)'', ''Leader of the Tonton Macoutes' local branch'' or something; under the appearances? What would be proper as I strongly opine that every character whether minor or major should be mentioned. --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 16:24, 28 February 2009 (EST) <br> By the way I would appreciate if you would answer to my [[User talk:Janrodrigo|talk page]], instead of here. I've been researching about the canoncy of all the "doubted" GNs, that you marked pink or red. As far as I digged & analysed, I came to think that you're right about some novels written without consulting some of the main writers. But those include some more then you marked. And anyway it doesn't matter with the Hana/Drucker and Matt storyline because they occur in 2008 and we are still in 2007. Think of an aired episode which only shows us the future where no present character time-travels to the future and three characters die in that future. That would show us nothing but a possibility about what would happen if Bob and Elle wouldn't have died. (And probably when Future Peter came to shot Nathan, he crashed butterflies... leading Sylar towards Claire and Level 5...So this is maybe one of the possible 2008s that would happen if Peter wouldn't have come from 2011.) So few of the GNs over there are completely another timeline which "could happen" :) <br> Though I agree with you that those GNs should have been consulted before being published and also I know that they used scab writers, I also think that as already millions of people read those GNs it would have been the most difficult for the "original writers" to cancel them. And I think they had to accept them (most probably unwillingly) as a part of the storyline (because it's published). They even signed a second published GN collection including all the GNs that we are speaking about. And yamagatofellowship.org has afterwords added Ben Franklin as a hero. etc... <br> What I mean is that even if the way some published GNs are prepared in a not very decent way and if they were not "fully" consulted, we have to accept them as a part of the story-line, as now the writers have also collectively accepted it. (Though some, may be most, unwillingly) I think also that; Pokaski & Coleite were kind of protesting (very reasonably) while saying "... had nothing to do with us", also meaning "we were not consulted about..." <br> By the way, Chuck Kim was the only "non-scab" writer, creating GNs during the strike. He may have been consulted. <br> Any way I wrote too long for a "P.S." =) <br> Take care, <br> --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 18:11, 9 March 2009 (EDT) |

****** Ok, for consistency, the direct links to Sword Saint and Drucker documentary will be fine. I am toying with the idea of summarizing the other vids that we still have access to over summer break, but it would be a quite a bit of work. With regard to those particular GNs (the ones with the colored numbers), I came to somewhat the same conclusion in not so many words. They could more easily be contradicted (and some were, in a sense). they shopuld have been consulted, but I think the hands of both groups were tied; the writers (probably due to union rules) couldn't go to the scabs to consult, and NBC probably barred the scabs from consulting the regular writers. The canoncy of those GNs were more suspect than the other media. With regards to the Chuck Kim ones (and others), I'm pretty sure that there was some consulting there, and any ones that I heard/read about there being consultation (meaning written before the strike happened), the GN is is black. As I see it, there is more than one way to look at what's canon. [[Help:Sources|HeroesWiki Policy]] (established by consensus and subject to question/change at any time) looks at the issue one way. Then there is the way that says "Whatever you think is canon, is canon." As wiki editors in our edits to the mainspace articles, we go by policy. Elsewhere, we have our own canon standards, which may or may not be in line with that of policy. --{{User:SacValleyDweller/sig}} 02:15, 10 March 2009 (EDT) |

I was rewatching some old episodes and in [[One Giant Leap]], I saw another customer next to Matt, who complains about the problems with his wife. As Matt hears him, he feels sympathy as he just disputed with his wife. So Matt lift his glass of champaign (or whatever drink) and says hi to the guy. The guy lifts back but in his head, tells Matt not to deal with the wrong guy. So Matt stops interacting with him. |

(I mean even if we don't know who play them... but any how; someone plays the character :)) We can't do that in real life, so at least let's apply equality here =] I think I went a little emotional :) Any way, <br> Take care, & thank you, <br> Lovingly, --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 11:44, 22 April 2009 (EDT) |

::*Hey, Janrodrigo. I hate to do this, but I'm doubling back on what I previously said about creating new pages about characters. I've noticed that you've gone ahead and created [[Los Angeles Bar Customer]], as well as added [[Emily]] to [[Template:AppearancesOneGiantLeap]]. My opinion now is that we probably don't ''need'' an article about either of those characters, as I told you last month. However, I can live with them having articles, but the main thing that bothers me about them, is that both are uncredited. This clogs up [[:Category:Unknown Portrayer]] with a bunch of small, insignificant characters. Usually, the only uncredited characters that we make pages for, are those of significant meaning (ex. [[Karen Sprague]], [[Rosetti]], and formerly [[Leona]]). I won't make any reverts to the templates you edited, or the page you created, since I want to know what some of the higher-ups think about this. Again, sorry for doubling back on what I've previously said. --[[User:Radicell|Radicell]] 10:01, 22 April 2009 (EDT) |

Does it become official now when he changes the name to pyrokinesis. Then do we have to delete the Phoenix mimicry page?!! I hope not. == Information Update == |

* I've talked with Draphoenix quite a bit...I agree, it's too bad that he's changed the name of the ability, I suppose either out of pressure from what he perceived from the community, or from the desire to just forget about having a power that some people didn't like. But what's even sadder is that our community decided to rail upon the ability and character (and in turn, the creator of both) so much. I don't understand why people who don't like something can't just keep it to themselves. I guess some people just have diarrhea of the mouth. Oh well. But no, any changes to Draph's H:S page are not canon. Part of the reason Zach Wilson and I chose his character was because we liked the phoenix mimicry power. We thought it was different, cool, and would be a fun one to write about. We didn't choose a character that had pyrokinesis, we chose a character that could mimic phoenixes. That's the ability that was shown in the iStory, no matter what changes were made to the character's H:S profile.<p>On another note, Jan, thanks for being such a helpful citizen of the ''Heroes'' community and a strong team player. Your supportive comments throughout the wiki (and particularly on the phonenix mimicry talk page) are much appreciated by me, and I'm sure by others. Hi Ryan, |
Hi Ryan, |
||
Just a little question.. How do you do so that a template (for example <nowiki> {{subst:welcome}} </nowiki>) appears everytime a page (for example a user discussion page) is created. Thanks --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 04:10, 25 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
* That's kind of a tricky template, simply because it uses [[MediaWiki:newarticletext]], which is locked to non-administrators. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 09:07, 25 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
** The thing is I'm an admin in the Ladino Wikipedia and there, we are really few people. I've created a <code><nowiki>{{subst:welcome}}</nowiki></code> template there and I wanted to know how to add that on the top of the new user discussion pages. I also have the rights of translator in that language in Betawiki. I hope, I'm not being too much on you with this. --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 09:30, 25 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
*** Ah, okay, I see. I thought you might be asking because you wanted to make your own custom template that would pop up for certain pages. Anyway, you'll simply want to go to [[MediaWiki:newarticletext]] (which may also be called "MediaWiki:newarticletextanon"). I think the simplified code we use here on this wiki is <code><nowiki>{{#ifeq: {{NAMESPACE}} | User talk | <div class="plainlinks" style="background-color:#C0C0C0;border:2px outset #9999bb;text-align:center;padding:2px 5px;width:150px">[{{fullurl:{{FULLPAGENAMEE}}|action=edit&preload=Template:welcomeuser}} <font color=#000000>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Welcome!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</font>]</div><br /> }}</nowiki></code>. I hope that helps. If it's not working, let me know--and send me a link. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 10:19, 25 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
**** No, unfortunately, it didn't work. [http://lad.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Newarticletext Here] is the link. Thanks a lot Ryan, --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 16:20, 25 November 2009 (EST) |

***** I'm not sure. Maybe because it's in a different there's something that needs to change. Like, maybe the user talk pages aren't called "User talk"? Or maybe there are certain functions that aren't enabled on that wiki. I don't know, I'm not sure, to be honest. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 20:06, 25 November 2009 (EST) |

* Sure. What exactly do you need me to do? -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 20:06, 25 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
** I want, like Volume 1, to be a block and not to be a separate line every week, some goes for Pod One for example. I hope I'm not asking too much on you these days - especially I wouldn't want to take your time if you're ''busy'' :) --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 02:22, 26 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
***You could make Volume One auto-collapsible and going horizontal. And then the Pods horizontal and auto-collapsible ''inside'' Volume One. The the weeks vertical inside thee pods. Just a suggestion! For an excelent example of what I'm talking about, see the ''[[User:Cockney Heroes|Cockney Heroes]]''template at the bottom of every page. The big header can close all of them, then they have sections inside it, and then even more sections inside those. {{User:Iheartheroes/sig}} 09:48, 26 November 2009 (EST) |

****I was thinking something very similar. And that's an excellent idea. But I don't think I would be able to do that! :( May be you or Ryan could give a hand on doing as you told. :) Thanks by the way ''IHH''. --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 11:16, 26 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
*****Well you could look at their template and see the code? {{User:Iheartheroes/sig}} 11:30, 26 November 2009 (EST) |
|||
******Yes but deciphering that code and prepraing a similar one for the template, probably would take at least 2-3 hours for me. While some can do it in 15 minutes may be. Actually I asked the question to Ryan because I couldn't find a page from where I could copy one, but luckily you showed me one. So, if one of you find the time to do that for me I would be delighted (very happy lol), because I don't have so much time to give to there. I've to write my master thesis (dead time: Jan 20, 2010). *What's wrong the images? ([[:Image:FBI agent (I).jpg]], [[:Image:FBI agent (III).JPG]], [[:Image:FBI agent (IV).JPG]], ((:Image:Gun seller (II).JPG))) I tried to upload them according to the rules and also added all the categories. |
|||
** They are not [[help:standard size|standard size]]. Character portraits should be 200 x 250. |
|||
*What's a duplicate image? You nominated ((:Image:Gun seller (II).JPG)) for deletion because of duplication. But I didn't duplicate it from somewhere, I just took a snapshot from the pdf file of the GN. May be you meant something else, maybe I did some other error. So please can you explain me so that I can learn how to upload better images and create better articles. :) I'm genuine when I say this I'm always willing to learn and improve =) (By the way I also redirected the wrongly redirected links to the [[FBI agent]].) |
|||
** I nominated the gun seller's image for deletion because the image already exists on the wiki. It's not good practice to have multiple images floating around the wiki. I would have taken care of it earlier, but I didn't have time so I just made a note for myself to fix it when I have a little more time. Not a big deal. |
|||
*When and how can I know when the article came to achieve to the Heroes Wiki article standards? |
|||
** I'll fix them up--the "needs maintenance" flags were more of a note for myself to fix the pages up when I get a second. Specifically, some of the articles were missing things like the fact that they're dead, or they had some links missing, or had bolded words in the wrong spots. It's also not good practice to put the parenthetical numbers in the body of articles. So for instance, when we put quotations, we should pipe the name (<code><nowiki>[[FBI agent (I)|FBI agent]]</nowiki></code>) so it looks better ([[FBI agent (I)|FBI agent]]). |
|||
*By the way, I also don't like all those numbers around people (I), (II) etc. And you might have been angry with me when you saw me adding all those numbers from which you'd gotten rid of, a while ago. But, when I saw that there were many unnamed FBI agents or other, I did what I thought was necessary to be done. So this was to make sure that you knew I didn't do any of these out of pleasure but to approach perfection, I mean to improve the wiki. |
|||
** Nope, not angry with you at all! You're doing a great job! :) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 15:14, 12 September 2009 (EDT) |

Some questions... When we're writing the names of people in appearances what're the rules? There might be some inconsistencies. |
|||
See what I put on the talk page of that template that I was changing for you. Also, if I were to add you [[User:Iheartheroes/HW friends|here]], what would your picture be? {{User:Iheartheroes/sig}} 11:25, 27 November 2009 (EST) |

*I mean, one way I saw is that once, the full name (name - surname) is written and then just the first name e.g. '''[[Peter Petrelli]]''' in his first appearance and then always '''[[Peter]]'''. I felt that's the rule. |

*But for example there's also '''[[Mr. Bennet]]''' who always goes [[Mr. Bennet]] in the first season and then suddenly it becomes [[Noah]] with the [[Episode:Four Months Later...|first episode of season 2]]. Probably he was named first "Mr. Bennet" because his first name was not known before and then he was renamed "Noah" because it was revealed later. |
|||
Dear IHH, <br> |
|||
*But with some other poeple, it's not like that. Even we don't know his/her name at the particular episode or GN, their name is changed when we come to know. |
|||
I've a proposition to make for you. I've opened a group a while ago, called [http://groups.google.com/group/relive-heroes Relive Heroes]. Would you like to join it? <br> |
|||
It's primary intention is to make the member relive (live again) or just live (if s/he didn't experience before) the entire ''Heroes adventure'' from the beginning, with all its contents (that's episodes, webisodes, GNs, iStories and all the Heroes 360, Heroes Evolutions content). So if you want to rediscover everything about Heroes from the beginning, you can be a new member and get emails (and later sms also if you like) in order to relive Heroes. It also combines the British experience by BBC2 with the American one from NBC. If you want a better experience, I would suggest you to pretend not knowing anything about Heroes beforehand. Me and some friends of mine, in Turkey are participating, and it's pretty fun actually. <br> |
|||
Would you consider joining? It could be really fun, you also have the season 1 DVD so, when time is right, you would watch the episode of the time and then recieve that weeks mails and GN andd HE content etc. You will also recieve game updates from Suresh's Loft (that's [[Mohinder's office]] and [[Bridget's messages]]). **'''[[Simone]]''' in [[Episode:Genesis|Genesis]], [[Simone Deveaux]] in [[Episode:Don't Look Back|Don't Look Back]] and [[Simone]] in the rest of the episode she appears. (Because her family name is revealed in Don't Look Back.) Same way, |
|||
**'''[[Charles Deveaux|Simone's father]]''' in [[Episode:Genesis|Genesis]], [[Charles Deveaux]] in [[Episode:Don't Look Back|Don't Look Back]] and goes on [[Charles]]. |
|||
**'''[[Mrs. Petrelli]]''' and then [[Mrs. Petrelli]], until her first name is revealed and [[Angela Petrelli]] for once and then [[Angela]] in the rest of them may be. But no, it's named '''Angela Petrelli''' since the beginning as if her name was revealed in the 1st episode. |

**If the name is known but is not of great importance should the person be named according to the profession or just the name. As far as I saw, the name is always preferred. So why in [[Episode:Genesis|Genesis]] it's not [[Scotty]] but [[Odessa Fire Chief]]? |
|||
**[[Kin Egami]] appears in 2 episodes and in one GN. In both episodes, he's named [[Mr. Egami]] and in the GN, [[Kin Egami]]. Why? |
|||
**Should we use abbreviations as much as possible? For example should [[Los Angeles bartender]] and [[Los Angeles bar customer]] be linxtexted to "LA bartender" and "LA bar customer" respectively? |
|||
**If the name of the Haitian is revealed in this upcoming volume, are we going to change his name in his previous appearances!? I guess no. The same way is for Kin Egami, I guess. So, is it not proper to name, Mrs. Petrelli until the episode in which the name "Angela" is revealed? If this is proper, is it also not proper to linktext to what they're known at first? For example [[Kent Harper]] was known as [[Agent Harper]] until the last episode. So is it not more proper to write "Kent Harper" and then linktext it to "Agent Harper" until the last episode, where it could be written "Kent Harper" -- instead of directly changing it to "Kent Harper"? |

**I think we should always change a character's name on the appearances template if we discover a new, proper-noun name over a descriptive name (ex. the Odessa Fire Chief's name was discovered as Scotty, I think this change needs to be made). On the other hand, in-episode transitions such as Mrs. Petrelli -> Angela Petrelli -> Angela or Agent Harper -> Kent Harper or Jason -> Jason Pierce don't really matter much to me, although for consistency purposes I'd like it to be either listed as the same name on all the templates, or listed as different names as we discover them (as is the case with Angela, Jason, etc.) About abbreviations, it's pretty arbitrary and we usually do it if: 1) the name is quite long (ex. most of the Homeland Security agents appearing throughout Volume 4 were shortened), and 2) it's actually possible to abbreviate. --[[User:Radicell|Radicell]] 10:13, 13 September 2009 (EDT) |

So, I want to ask if no.3 conflicts with no.1, then what should we do as in the hypothetical example of the Haitian that I gave little upwards? May be [[the Haitian]] won't be changed because he's been known like that for so long. So let me ask another question. |

The name, [[Eden McCain]] was not revealed until [[Episode:Better Halves|Better Halves]] which was Eden's fourth appearance. In the same episode we came to know that she actually worked for Mr. Bennet. Until then, we only knew that she was Mohinder's neighbour and an old neighbour and friend of Chandra. And in each of the three episodes [[Nora Zehetner]] is mentioned as Guest Starring, so a name neither there is provided. She appears in 8 episodes. So would it be proper to write like this: |

This is not an accostomed way, but what do you (both of you) think of this? Now, one next to each other Mohinder's neighbor and Eden may stand and seem lame but in the template, between so many names I don't think it will seem lame. And the reader thus will know when the name of the character was revealed and how it was called until then + the template will also be less spoilery :) This is just an idea. |

**Dear Radi, I'm sorry to have written you so late cause real world duties this time really kept me off the net. I'm doing genetics experiments in the lab and it takes full days sometimes, I'd told RGS already that I've a deadline to submit my master thesis, which is January 20, 2010. So I've a very limited timeframe until then. But, still as much as I can, I'll be here trying to accomplish my duties. About patrolling, my questions go like this. In recent edits, I know that mainspaces, episodes, GNs etc. are important, however user pages, user talks, theroies, theory talks and other talks are way much more than the others. And almost all of them are unpatrolled. Should all those conversations be '''read''' in order to patrol all of them? Does ALL of them need to be patrolled? Another question is, is it possible to see who has patrolled which edit? I actually started patrolling with the ''oldest'' mainspace articles, because Ryan had told me that they go away after a certain time. But actually most of the unpatrolled edits were the ones by Intuitive Empath, probably because he patrolled the rest but not his own ones obviously. All I did was to check, to patrol tens of unpatrolled edits, but they were all edited ok. So, I almost didn't have to change, to edit a thing while patrolling. I kind of felt doing nothing in one hour patrol for example. The reason I'm telling you this is to ask for some advises from you. Should, for example, skip the ones done by other patrollers at first, then come back and patrol them when I've more time? Or should I just try to patrol the important and up-to-date edits at first? If I see an unpatrolled edit of 5 days ago, but that page afterwards have been edited by both RGS, you, IE for example, but the edited part neither have been changed nor marked as edited, and that edit seems correct to me, should I mark it ''then'' as patrolled? Or, patrolling the old version of a page which has already been edited so many times by both admins and other patrollers is a waste of time? I know I've asked a lot of questions but I can lastly put just this. What are your good advises to me about all aspects of patrolling. I just needed some hands to guide me a little about patrolling, some elder brotherly advises. That's all. Thank you very much Radi ''in advance'' and take care too, Friendly & Lovingly, --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 10:57, 8 December 2009 (EST) |
|||
***I understand what you're saying, I used to be in the exact same vein of thinking as you. I would see the huge list of unpatrolled user and user talk edits, and be like, "well, ''somebody's'' gotta patrol them." Then, Ryan told me about how edits become unpatrollable after an amount of time. So my advice is to simply follow the priorities -- mainspace pages, episode pages, GN pages, etc. It doesn't really matter one way or another if user pages aren't patrolled. And keep in mind that the purpose of patrolling is ''not'' to clear the Recent Changes of the red exclamation marks. It's so that all edits can be reviewed at least once to maintain the quality of the wiki. Regarding your question about the unpatrolled edit of 5 days ago, ''yes'', you should patrol that edit. It doesn't matter if there has been tons of edits after it, but as long as the edit itself is acceptable, it should be patrolled. Oh, and -- good luck on your experiments and your studies. No one is obligated to edit or patrol Heroes Wiki, and if you feel like you have to go "off the grid" for a little while, feel free. There's plenty of other patrollers and admins to cover for you. :) --[[User:Radicell|Radicell]] 02:11, 9 December 2009 (EST) |

Hi Ricard, |
|||
About [[Charles Deveaux]] for example, both his first name and surname was revealed at the same time, in his second appearance. So I've to put or [[Charles Deveaux|Simone's father]] or [[Charles Deveaux]]. If I put the latter then how can I write [[Simone]], without her family name in the template, although it's just obvious? It's clearer this way, if I write down, never letting descriptive names to be used as much as possible: |
|||
I'd left you a message in [[Talk:Timeline:Pre-eclipse]]. It's probable that you didn't see it so I write you back in here :) |
|||
:At the very least, the first time we see Hiro and Ando in [[Genesis]], it would appear it is actually SEPTEMBER 2006. Look carefully in the background of Ando's cubicle when Hiro first walks over. The first week has two dates listed at the end of the week (Friday, Sep. 1 and Saturday, Sep. 2). The second week is entirely comprised of single-digit dates (September 3 - 9), and the month appears to end on a Saturday (Saturday, Sep. 30). --[[User:Ricard Desi|Ricard Desi]] ([[User talk:Ricard Desi|t]],[[Special:Contributions/Ricard Desi|c]]) 03:40, 3 December 2009 (EST) |

:::Yes, I did see that, sorry for not responding to it. Just a note, I could have translated few words differently. <br> ''Hechicera'' actually means "one (woman) that practices magic" or simply "witch". But with time it also got the meaning charming. So I guessed, here he was calling her charming not magician. <br> ''Antiguo'' can mean both "old" and "ancient", so you can use both. <br> And ''Duérmete'' can mean "go to sleep", "fall asleep" or just "sleep". You can depend the translation upon the context. |

What do you think? |
|||
Hi Ryan, <br> |
|||
Friendly, |
|||
Last week today, they started airing Heroes Volume 5, here in Turkey, on the channel CNBC-e. The strange thing is that last week they only aired "Chapter 1: Orientation" and just now they aired the other part. You remember NBC had aired them together and without any script - between the two parts. Interestingly enough here, in CNBC-e, they called today's episode, "Chapter 1: Orientation, Part 2". And probably it was ''not'' something that CNBC-e did, because it was not a subtitle, the script appeared inside the fridge of Noah's home in Washington D.C., in the beginnings of the episode. And it was exactly the ''same'' script and style used for other episodes! <br> |
|||
--[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 13:01, 13 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
As far as I know, we use the title "Jump, Push, Fall" based on NBC.com and we had until now, no in-episode information about how the second part of the Chapter 1 was called, or whether there was even a second part or not. Because, there was no real point of breakage in NBC. <br> |
|||
Well, here, last week, they finished the episode with Sylar holding Matty and saying "I want my body back!". Today they started with a "previously in Heroes" where they showed some of the last volume and mostly of last week's episode ([[Orientation]]), then they started with where they left off, the talk of Matt and Sylar with Matty in his arms. And with the next scene in Noah's apartment, they showed the title of the episode (or part, I'm not sure any more). It was strange. May be as NBC gave them the right to air, NBC could also have provided them with the episodes, the way they plan to put on Season 4 DVD. Who knows? Just wanted to fill you in about this. Take care, --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 15:34, 13 December 2009 (EST) |
|||
* Thanks, Jan. That's great information! Can you get a screenshot of the refrigerator? -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 21:26, 14 December 2009 (EST) |

** You're welcome Ryan, unfortunately in Turkey we don't have the luxury of watching episodes onlines. But.. it'll air again 1 or 2 more times I think, so until then if I can find a way to watch the channel through the net, I'll definitely take a screenshot =) --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 01:18, 15 December 2009 (EST) |

*** Excellent. If you have the capabilities, you could record it or burn it on a DVD, and then transfer that to your computer. If not, no worries. Thanks, Jan! :) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 08:42, 15 December 2009 (EST) |

**** I called CNBC-e and they told me that they never give away a copy of something aired, but I searched the net for a way of watching and recording CNBC-e online, and I found Sipru. I downloaded it and just now I've recorded the part that interests us. (It continues to air, btw, right now) It's little less than 15 MBs, how should I send it to you? Btw, I'll go ahead and screenshot where it says ''Chapter One: Orientation, Part Two'', and add it as an image to the wiki. --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 04:52, 20 December 2009 (EST) |

***** I went ahead and added [[:Image:4x1title2.jpg|the title card image]]. However the quality of the image is not great and I'm not sure if I should choose aired or unaired category here. --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 05:40, 20 December 2009 (EST) |

* This isn't really the place for a conversation about policies that affect the style of the wiki...but I'll definitely add my two cents since you asked the question. In general, we use the first and last name of the character on their first appearance, and the short version of their name from that point on. Also, in general, we go back and fix the name according to new information we receive, provided that it's not a "big deal". What I mean by that is that there are a few cases where a person's name seems to be a tightly guarded secret, like Mr. Bennet's was for the first season. If the Haitian's name is revealed, he would fall under that same category. I don't think we should go back and fix their names. But somebody like [[Vic]], that's a really minor character, and it wasn't like his name was a secret or a plot point or anything like that. It was just a minor character whose name was unknown, and he got a name later on. For those types of people (who seem to be the bulk of the name "reveals"), I don't have a problem going back and fixing up their names. But if enough people balk at the fact that we're doing a case-by-case situation, or that we're not consistent, I'd rather go back and fix all of the "Mr. Bennet"s to "Noah", rather than go the route of Peter's mother → Mrs. Petrelli → Angela Petrelli → Angela. That makes it really hard to count appearances, and seems like a really silly way to record names.<p>Your other question was about abbreviating. Space on the appearance templates is at a premium. I personally would rather see more abbreviating. So yes, "Los Angeles bartender" would be better served as being linked to the title of the article ("Los Angeles bartender"), but being printed (or piped) as the shortened, abbreviated name ("LA bartender"), just to save space and to make names look nicer. Those are my thoughts and opinions, they are not policy or rules of the wiki. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 14:20, 13 September 2009 (EDT) |

Hi Ryan, |
|||
In [[Episode:Genesis|Genesis]] (Oct. 1), Claire says; <br> |
|||
::{{Timelinequote}}''"I've got the Bishop game next week, SATs in October, homecoming is 3 weeks from today and I'm a freak show!"--[[Claire]]''{{Tquoteclose}} |
|||
However, [[Episode:Homecoming|Homecoming]] is little bit more then a week later. Is this a '''mistake of the producers'''? May be a '''wrong canonical info'''? <br> |
|||
--[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 13:37, 20 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
*P.S. And also she speaks as if it wasn't October. --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 13:40, 20 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
** Yes, it's probably a mistake. Series pilots are often created long before the rest of the show's timeline is created. Plus, ''Heroes'' has never stuck very closely to an exact timeline. See [[Talk:Timeline/Archive 1#Timeline Irregularities|here]] for a previous discussion on the subject. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 16:30, 20 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
***Thanks a lot, Ryan :) Did you see [[Heroes_Wiki_talk:Community_Portal#Timeline_inconsistencies_.28October_2006.29|this]] and [[Talk:Timeline:October_2006#Niki.27s_Timeline|this]]? I've really gone through the timeline clues with papers and pen, and also almost with strings!! =) in a very detailed way. And I found out that if we accept every piece of canon info as correct, there's NO way to build a consistent timeline. But just negating two of them make the line very consistent - but then we've to slide some events just for one day. So, what to do? What do you think? I say that I really did a very much in-depth analyses of timelines one-by-one and character-by-character. And I also concluded why it's probable (how it was possible) that those two info came to be wrong. I hope that you aprroach to this with an open mind :) So, should these be discussed somewhere, in some portal or something? Or should start changing little by little with short explanations? What do you say? Thanks again. P.S. Sorry for the spelling mistakes in recent changes, I was too sleepy. Sincerely and friendly, --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 02:13, 21 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
****Isn't it like the first of October when she says that? I don't know about you, but sometimes I mistakingly mark my papers with the previous month when a new month starts, and some people don't know how many days each month has, so Claire could have thought it was still September. And maybe the school moved homecoming up?--[[User:Citizen|Citizen]] 06:23, 21 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
***** Citizen, that's exactly the rationale I use to explain it to myself. But Janrodrigo is right, that Homecoming wasn't three weeks from the eclipse. This isn't news, though--it's been discussed before (see the link above). I'm not sure what else needs to be done about it. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 13:10, 21 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
******Then the school moved it up ten days. A school I used to attend frequently changed dates for school events. I don't think it's uncommon, even in the Heroes universe. A continuity error on part of the writers? Maybe. Something that can be fixed with in-world reasoning? Definitely.--[[User:Citizen|Citizen]] 15:20, 21 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
******* Exactly. There's also the notion of character error. Claire, in character, simply got the date wrong. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 16:09, 21 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||

== Hi Jan == |
|||
*Yeah, me and Radicell had asked abou it to Ryan, but he'd told that the writers told it was Monday, the day they were publishing. It's the second time now that I catched it up, 5 minutes ago it was not on NBC and 5 minutes later it's there (between 05.08 and 05.13 EST) so I know for sure, it's Tuesday helas.. --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 06:18, 29 December 2009 (EST) |

I hope you don't mind, me asking a question? <br> |
|||
In [[Episode:Genesis|Genesis]] (Oct. 1), Claire says; <br> |
|||
{{Timelinequote}}''"I've got the Bishop game next week, SATs in October, homecoming is 3 weeks from today and I'm a freak show!"--[[Claire]]''{{Tquoteclose}} |

|||
--[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 13:37, 20 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
*Thanks Danko. One thing to tell you is that I've found two more similar mistakes from Season 1. Those two mistakes were taken as reference points for the timeline and thus the timeline of [[Timeline:October 2006|October 2006]], is slided wrongly for one day. As a consequence [[Timeline:October 2006|it]] is inconsistent with many other given canon data. And I don't say it just like that, I analysed it and reviewed it really a lot. What do you say? What to do? Thanks again --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 14:35, 20 September 2009 (EDT) |

Guys, <br> |
|||
Just to be sure. Are we writing everyting now down to Sylar's page? Are we accepting Sythan now as Sylar, though another Sylar keeps appearing in Matt's mind. I also think that a part of Sylar's mind or whatsoever has been transferred to Matt's mind during what he did to Sylar. This new two episodes make that clear I think. And Nathan (Sylar) when he spoke to Angela, he said he wanted to change, that he's been horrific in the past (referring to what he did in Fugitives and especially to Peter) and that he wanted to become better!! (not worse!) This resembles rather to what Gabriel Gray would say if he'd be Nathan in the past, even though he says it, in a Nathan-ish style. Plus abilities re-emerging is not a sign Sylar (I speak on a mental level - Didn't we count Jesse Murphy as Peter Petrelli when Peter was in his body?). It's completely a physical sign, completely dependent on gene expression.<br> |
|||
I'd an accident around 8 days ago and as a result I got hernia. I'm lying down on my back in the bed and I'm not permitted to sit or stand up more than 3 minutes. Doc says it's serious but says that if I continue to lay down 2 or 3 weeks more, then I'll be ok. And at the same time I'm trying to finish my master degree, which is kind of difficult doing at the same time. These are the reasons I couldn't be much around. I'm sorry for not being able to coordinate much. I hope I'll recover soon, graduate and be here as much as I can. Take care everyone, |
|||
My point is that he's not simply Sylar made to believe he's Nathan. He actually possesses also part of Nathan's mind and DNA. He only partly possesses the mind of Sylar and does not possess at all the desires, wishes and memories of Sylar. If he was simply Sylar made to believe he's Nathan, he would be forced to act like Nathan, which he doesn't. So if we say a person is made up of three things; body, mind and soul. We would say that this new guy's body and mind is a combination of Nathan's and Sylar's bodies and minds (I'm including everything; organs, DNA, ego, desires, memories etc.). And as soul, he has definitely Gabriel Gray's soul. So, what do you say, should we accept him simply as Sylar now on? --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 15:47, 22 September 2009 (EDT) <br> |
|||
Love, |
|||
P.S. Did you notice the malicous behaviour of Sylar (I say HE's Sylar) to Matt and the classical malicious music that played again when Sylar made Matt used his power, and Sylar's classical laugh. Also, worthy to notice that none of such characteristics aren't present in "Nathan (Sylar)". --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 15:47, 22 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
Brotherly, |
|||
* The character played by [[Adrian Pasdar]] possesses no more of Nathan's DNA than any other character who has shapeshifted. Nathan is dead. About the only thing that should be mentioned on Nathan's page from here on out is that Sylar is impersonating him, or anything that is mentioned about the actual Nathan (like things from his past). Beyond that, everything we saw last night was Sylar. To address a few of your other points, Jesse was actually Peter. Body insertion is a different ability than shapeshifting. Where did you hear that Sylar possesses Nathan's DNA? I haven't heard that. Nor do I think it would make a difference--possessing somebody's DNA somehow still doesn't make you that person. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 15:55, 22 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
(Can) --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 18:57, 16 January 2010 (EST) |
|||
** I wasn't meaning that we should write the summaries in Nathan's page (and I'm against of it as much as you). However don't you even slightly feel that he's not entirely the Sylar we knew? What I mean is that just as we've a page for [[Jessica Sanders]], another personality of [[Niki Sanders]]; at least we should have a page called '''Nathan Petrelli (Sylar)''' or "Sylar (Nathan Petrelli)" and put the summaries there and also to Sylar's page, in a little shorter style, under another title or whatever. What do you say? --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 16:13, 22 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
*** Well, yeah, obviously Sylar has changed. I'm not sure it's the same situation as Niki and Jessica...but a separate page is an idea I'd be willing to entertain. Why don't you draw something up in your user namespace so we can see what it would look like. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 16:15, 22 September 2009 (EDT) |

Hi Ryan. In the list of appearances pages, such as [[List of character appearances by episode]], [[List of character appearances by graphic novel]] or [[List of character appearances by webisode]] etc. Next to the characters appear (2) or (5), the counting of the appearance appears. But when I copy the entire content of the page and paste it somewhere else, such as [[Heroes Wiki:Sandbox|here]], it doesn't work. The numbers don't appear. Then how come in those pages they appear? What does it make them appear, I mean how does it work? Thank you, --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 15:31, 23 September 2009 (EDT) |

*Yes, I saw that you updated, thanks:) What I meant is the update of the timeline (the links of the template) Congrats btw, about you becoming admin on Chuckwiki --{{User:Janrodrigo/sig}} 02:52, 11 March 2010 (EST) :) |
|||
* If you're trying to copy [http://heroeswiki.com/index.php?title=List_of_character_appearances_by_episode&action=edit the code on the list of appearances pages] themselves, you'll notice that the page is simply made up of a bunch of templates. So if you go to one of the templates, like [[Template:AppearancesGenesis]] for instance, you'll notice that the names are added using another template: [[Template:Appearance]]. The appearance template is set up to only show the counts on the lists of character appearances. That way the counts aren't shown on the episode (or GN or webisode) pages. Check out the code [http://heroeswiki.com/index.php?title=Template:Appearance&action=edit here] and see if that helps explain things. Specifically, it's the code that says <code><nowiki>{{#if: {{#pos: {{PAGENAME}}|List of character appearances|}}| ({{{count}}})|}}</nowiki></code> which means that the code will only appear if the page's name has "List of character appearances" in it. Hope that helps! Let me know if you need me to explain it more or differently. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 20:31, 23 September 2009 (EDT) |

I've created a [[User:Janrodrigo/Template:Appearance2|template]] and tried to use it in [[User:Janrodrigo/List of all character appearances|this page]]. However when I say count=3, nothing appears. It works with all the other counts, but not with "3". I tried to fix in, in vain. Could you give me a hand in it? And also sorry for the tons of edits I'd to do, in order to succed in making the template... I was learning (if, ifeq, ifexist...).<br> |
|||
Thanks a lot in advance, <br> |

* No worries about the tons of edits--we all have to learn the coding somehow. Bravo for taking the time to learn it yourself! A few notes about the template: <code>ifexist</code> is a code to determine whether or not a link exists on the wiki. So <code><nowiki>{{#ifexist: Claire | this link exists | this link doesn't exist}}</nowiki></code> returns "{{#ifexist: Claire | this link exists | this link doesn't exist}}". On the other hand, <code><nowiki>{{#ifexist: count| this link exists | this link doesn't exist}}</nowiki></code> returns "{{#ifexist: count | this link exists | this link doesn't exist}}". Therefore, when you replace <code>count</code> with 3, the template is searching to see if there is a link on the wiki for "3". There isn't. However, there is a link for [[1]], [[2]], and other numbers. Try changing <code>ifexist</code> to just <code>if</code>, which just checks to see whether you've inputted that code or not. Let me know if you still get stuck. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 09:50, 28 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
** It was enlightening. I'll try it now. Thank you Ryan. --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 13:27, 28 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
*** I've tried <code>if</code> before. But then [[User:Janrodrigo/Template:Appearance2|this]] and [[User:Janrodrigo/List of all character appearances|this]] happens. In the template I created, <code>{{{count}}}</code> stands for each count specific to every episode, gn or iStory etc., similar to what we use in this wiki. <code>{{{countt}}}</code> stands for "count total" without considering whether it's an episode, GN or Heroes Evolutions. <code>{{{countm}}}</code> stands for "count mention", to count the people mentioned or seen in a photo of a specific episode or GN etc... And <code>{{{countmt}}}</code> stands for "count mention total", same with <code>{{{countm}}}</code> but for mentions. What I want to have:<br> |
|||
<code> * [[{{{name}}}|{{{name}}}]] ({{{count}}}, {{{countt}}}) </code>; if there is an appearence OR <br> |
|||
<code> * [[{{{name}}}|{{{name}}}]] ({{{countm}}}, {{{countmt}}}) </code>; if there is a mention or someone seen in a picture etc.. <br> |
|||
What I mean I need "this" or "that" structure. But when I use <code>if</code>, both of them happens. That's why I used <code>ifexist</code> in the first place. Therefore what can I do? --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 15:05, 28 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
* Okay, it should work now. Let me know if it's still not doing what you want it to do. The biggest issue I'm seeing is that you're sometimes mixing up the mentions and the appearances. For instance, with Zach on Week 9, you've inputted a total count as well as a total mention count. Shouldn't it be an appearance tally (count) and an appearance total (countt), or mention tally (countm) and a mention total (countmt)? -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 16:58, 28 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
** You're wonderful. Thank you so much. If it would be me, I couldn't do what you did :) You took so much trouble. Now it's working. I don't understand exactly how, but I wouldn't want to give you trouble of explaining in details. Just one question.. What's the difference between <code>{{{something}}}</code> and <code> {{{something|}}} </code>? And I'll work in correcting the page asap. It's as you said; count & countt OR countm & countmt. By the way, I haven't watch the new episode yet. I'm curious what's coming now... <br> |
|||
Thank you so much, again :) <br> |

* It's not showing. I meant (((something))) and (((something|))), but in those strange parantheses. But it doesn't show when I write like that. --[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 03:16, 29 September 2009 (EDT) |
|||
** What's funny is that the very reason the code isn't showing up on this page explains the difference! :) <nowiki>{{{foo}}}</nowiki> simply means to input the variable "foo". But <nowiki>{{{foo|}}}</nowiki> means to input the variable "foo", and that if nothing is inputted, then nothing is used as a default. The pipe simply means that anything after it is the default. So, you can actually specify what the default is by typing something after the pipe. For instance, <nowiki>{{{foo|Jan}}}</nowiki> will return {{{foo|Jan}}}, unless I input something specific for foo. A good example of where this is used is on a template like [[Template:Minornavcell]]. The template requires you to specify the season number. But if you don't specify the season, it uses "4" as a default, since we're in the fourth season right now.... Hope that helps. It's no trouble at all. I always enjoy helping people understand template coding better, because I had some very good helpers who explained things to me when I was learning it all, and I really appreciated it. -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 08:43, 29 September 2009 (EDT) |

Hi Jan. I saw that you are a fan of ''Kyle XY'', just as I am. I have been wondering something for a while now, and you are the only person I know who likes the show (weird huh?). Do you have any theories on why they have such a long gap in time when each season ends? It just kind of bugs me that it takes so long for it to come back.--{{User:Catalyst/sig}} 21:18, 6 October 2009 (EDT) |
|||

Hi Ryan, |
|||
(correct?) But anyway, I cannot make a sentence in English to express that in his page. |
|||
'''Michael Dunitz''' is a location manager for ''Heroes''. He also is a <u>self</u> for ''Heroes Unmasked''. |
|||
Can you actually say that!? Or better, please help me out about how to express that. I don't wanna create a page with funny sentences in it. |

Thanks, |
|||
--[[User:Janrodrigo|Janrodrigo]] 05:05, 25 October 2009 (EDT) |

- Kyle XY is one of my favorites. I think they have such a long gap between seasons because they air the show in the summers, so there's more time between the end and the beginning. The seasons are also much shorter than normal (10 episodes, I think, as opposed to 20+ episodes for a regular show), so there's more time between seasons. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:27, 6 October 2009 (EDT)
- I'm very happy that you guys like the show as I do. Just a little detail...
Hi Ryan,
I just wanted to ask about a little thing. I'd based "Mohinder's office" to the name of the wiki article itself and to the name, the user Heroes360 used in his user page. However, there is a website, if you go and enter the site, you can play the game and there it calls it "Suresh's Loft". So may be the site made the name up so, or was it really called so? --Janrodrigo 02:27, 8 October 2009 (EDT)
- I can't remember. I think it's been called both. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:41, 8 October 2009 (EDT)
Hi Ryan
Hi Ryan,
I was just thinking that the first names should redirect to the characters if there're no other characters by that name, like Sandra redirecting to Sandra Bennet... But do we do that to only important characters? By the way, I hope I'm not doing too many or uncontrolled edits, like the ones I reverted today, the episode numbers... or should I've asked you before reverting what some people do? And what do you think of How to Relive Heroes? It's just a start, I plan on including everything. I advance slowly, because I've a thesis to write, but my head is a mess, these days... Anyway, just wanted to say hello actually. Take care, --Janrodrigo 22:45, 8 October 2009 (EDT)
- For redirects, I don't think they only need to be for "important" characters, but in the case of Jonas Zimmerman, his first name comes from a deleted scene. There's nothing really wrong with that, but it is kind of a dodgy source, or at least not one that's well known. But if anybody is searching for Jonas, the first pages that come up have to do with Dr. Zimmerman, so people will find the page pretty quickly. As for your edits, they're terrific. Keep them up. You were correct to revert the episode numbers. Ink is, indeed, 402, and Acceptance is the third chapter of the fourth volume. Cool subpage, too! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:54, 8 October 2009 (EDT)
New users
The two users you just welcomed were both vandals. --Boom D 59 20:25, 11 October 2009 (EDT)
- Oops, sorry. I didn't know. Is there a way for me to understand whether a new user is a vandal or not? And should I undo those welcome messages? Thanks and sorry again --Janrodrigo 20:29, 11 October 2009 (EDT)
- Vandals are pretty easy to spot. (They change real info and create pages that don't help the site). So Just look at recent changes to see who does those things. And I think you can leave the welcome messages.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 20:32, 11 October 2009 (EDT)
- No need to undo the messages. If you happen to see that somebody is blocked on the block log, you probably don't need to welcome them. (Any user whose name starts with a variation of "mdj" is probably a vandal, too.) But if you welcome a vandal, there's nothting wrong with that. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:01, 12 October 2009 (EDT)
Image sources
Hey, Jan. When you get a second, could you please add the source for two of the images you uploaded today: Image:Patience Thoreson.JPG and Image:Diane Crooke.jpeg? Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:08, 11 October 2009 (EDT)
- Patience Thoreson have been to a party with her high school classmates for the 40th year of their graduation (in 2005 I think). Thanks --Janrodrigo 07:02, 12 October 2009 (EDT)
Is "The Haitian"s name revealed?
In CBR News that I read by chance, I saw Hayden calling the Haitian by the name: René The Haitian. So, is his name was revealed this way? Quote:
| "[Claire] is in college with a new best friend and roommate," said Panettiere of Claire Bennett's life for the year. While the actress is uncertain if Claire will be in college throughout the year, the setting introduces something the character has not had since the first season: a close friend. "She's finally got what Zach was: a confidant. Somebody she can tell her secrets to; who she can trust," Panettiere revealed. "That's a very delicate balance that can easily fall apart and one little misstep and her dad will bring Rene the Haitian to wipe their memories." |
--Janrodrigo 08:17, 12 October 2009 (EDT)
- That interview comes from a former Heroes Wiki editor who, in my opinion, makes lots of mistakes in his transcripts. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:20, 12 October 2009 (EDT)
- I think I had a dream that the Haitian's name was revealed. Weird.--Dan 20:27, 23 October 2009 (EDT)

CLoC
Hey! I noticed that you had put some names on my subpage, Complete List of Characters (or CLoC for short) and I just want to say thank you! Your Fellow Friend, ~~IHH—Talk 18:13, 21 October 2009 (EDT)
- Your welcome and thank you Iheartheroes :) I'd just thought that your page was awesome and I wanted to help in completing the page with the characters. But I understand what you said, and it was friendly.. so, thank you again, not even slightly offended =) In the future, I'll be careful about it. Friendly --Janrodrigo 20:38, 21 October 2009 (EDT)
Self
Hi Ryan, I've a question for you. I was going to create the page for Michael Dunitz, a location manager for Heroes and whom seem to be "self" for Heroes Unmasked (see here). I didn't exactly understand what means "self" in terms of production. After watching the related unmasked episode, I kindda understood it as him playing himself. (correct?) But anyway, I cannot make a sentence in English to express that in his page.
Michael Dunitz is a location manager for Heroes. He also is a self for Heroes Unmasked.
Can you actually say that!? Or better, please help me out about how to express that. I don't wanna create a page with funny sentences in it.
Thanks,
--Janrodrigo 05:05, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
- If he appears in a video where he is himself (as opposed to playing a character), he is credited as "self". We don't even need to include that on his credits, to be honest. In fact, since it's a Heroes-related production, the most you would want to do is put it in the notes with a link to Heroes Unmasked. But really, you'll want to focus on his past experience as a location manager. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:12, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
- Thank you Ryan :)) By the way do you hint me that I'll find out some important stuff if I dig to his past as a location manager? --Janrodrigo 17:28, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
- No, no hints. I've never heard of Michael Dunitz before you mentioned him. We just should focus the article on his pertinent experience rather than on his appearances in documentaries. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:36, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

Your user page
The tables on your user page are set to a width of 1080px. For users that don't have a screen that is that wide (say, only 750px), your user page extends all the way over to the left, past the search bar, and off the page. I suggest you change it to width: 100% instead. That way it will just go to the edge of the page like you want it to, no matter how wide the user's screen is. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:28, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
- Did it. Thanks for letting me know. :) --Janrodrigo 02:19, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
Photos
Hi Ryan :)
Me again, with another question,
How one can become sure about a crew member's photo if it's on facebook... What I mean that there may be many people with the same name and the person you're searching may not even have a facebook account or may have made it secret. Until now, even if I did found the same name in facebook, I added their photos only if a bunch of their friends were other crew members etc.
But can I got to be sure about him for example? I don't know if it's him, Donald R. Casella, the transportation coordinator of Heroes. --Janrodrigo 03:11, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
- You can't be sure. I do the same thing, check for other crew members, or I just message them myself. When I send a message, I usually send a form letter that says something to the effect of, "Hi. I'm Ryan, and I am an editor at Heroes Wiki. I was wondering if you are the same Donald Casella who is (or was) a transportation coordinator for "Heroes". If so, I would like to work on a biographical article about you. Additionally, we usually use a photograph to accompany the biographical articles. Do you have a photograph you'd be willing to use, or do I have permission to use your Facebook photo? Thanks!" Something generic like that... But if you don't feel comfortable with doing that, I can certainly take care of contacting crew members. (It's much easier for me to say that I work for NBC than for somebody who doesn't...)
Regarding that profile of Donald, I'm not sure. I can't access Facebook from this computer. I'll check later when I get home. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:18, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
- I wouldn't feel very uncomfortable, but I would prefer you to go ahead and take care of it. :) --Janrodrigo 18:20, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
- No problem. When I see a new cast member, I usually take care of searching him or her out a bit. But if you have one in particular that you're not sure of, like Donald, just drop me a line, and I'll be glad to check the person out. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:57, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

noinclude
- Just an FYI that <noinclude> tag below the Summary on the episode articles is supposed to remain there or else it breaks the formatting of the article of the week on the main page. I think I noticed you removed it before, too, and it's not exactly clear why that tag is there in the article...but this is why. :) (Admin 21:19, 26 October 2009 (EDT))
- Sorry, I didn't do it on purpose, I thought it remained from the spoiler page. I'll more careful afterwords, thank you. --Janrodrigo 21:21, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
New crew pages
Hey, Jan. Great job on the new crew pages. Just a few quick notes for you, though, that dates on cast and crew pages should be in the form DAY MONTH YEAR (e.g. 31 October 2009). Also, although it's not technically wrong, we generally discourage using abbreviations in formal writing--so use the word "television" instead of the abbreviation "TV". Thanks! Keep up the good work! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:55, 31 October 2009 (EDT)
- Thanks Ryan. Everytime I learn more and more :) --Janrodrigo 11:05, 31 October 2009 (EDT)
- P.S. The default format of date in my country is also DAY MONTH YEAR. I changed it to (month day, year) for SVD has thought me that this is the American way :)
- You're right, that is the way we usually write dates in America. But for whatever reason, when the wiki was started, we used the format DAY MONTH for cast and crew pages. Go figure. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:12, 31 October 2009 (EDT)

Hi Radicell, I'm not sure about the wording and the format of the trivia I created in Sue Kesler's page. Could you check it on my part? Thanks? --Janrodrigo 05:21, 2 November 2009 (EST)
- I've improved it a bit, but since I don't usually work with crew pages, I'm not 100% sure that's the way it's supposed to be. Perhaps Ryan can help out when he comes online... --Radicell 05:34, 2 November 2009 (EST)

Phoenix mimicry =/= Pyrokinesis
Dude, you can't change PM to pyrokinesis, even though you are the creator of Draph and his powers. Draph appeared in iStory, and therefore his powers are canon (as much canon as they can be).
AltesUTC CH
- The power that is canon is Draph's ability to produce flames. That is the only thing that is canon and and the only thing that can be treated as canon. Therefore, I have made a semi-executive decision to change my HGS profile to be "canon-ized." Draphoenix 11:24, 6 November 2009 (EST)

AltesUTC CH
- Draphoenix, please take a look at the the PM Talk page and read what I wrote there. Friendly, --Janrodrigo 13:24, 7 November 2009 (EST)
- Draphoenix, please take the ability name on your HS page back to Phoenix Mimicry. Don't change it just because some people don't understand how original it is and just because those not understanding speak immaturelyi childishly and rudely. You succeded something with that name and now it's not time to lose self-confidance and give up. Many people also think it's a great name and power. So we're waiting back for your AT and power name. --Janrodrigo 16:58, 7 November 2009 (EST)
- The decision to change the power name is entirely up to him. If Draphoenix wants to keep it or leave it, that's his call. I believe the reason he changed Draph's fire powers to pyrokinesis was to make it a better fit into the story, not neccessarily because everyone hated it or something. --Piemanmoo 23:41, 8 November 2009 (EST)
- No, it was because everyone was hating on it was the reason i changed it Draphoenix 01:09, 9 November 2009 (EST)
- Did you read what is written in the talk page of your power, what I wrote there? Be sure that there are many people liking that power (including me, RGS and others) and only few people didn't like the name - that's all. Don't forget that you were chosen with this ability on your page. After so many people read it, after it became (semi)canon, I wouldn't go and change if I were you. By the way, Piemanmoo, I wouldn't/couldn't say anything to him if he was changing the name just by free will, but rather he became offended and touched by people's behaviour, that's why he changed it. --Janrodrigo 01:55, 9 November 2009 (EST)

Hey Ryan,
Did you notice what I wrote in the talk page of Phoenix mimicry and of Draphoenix. I'm really sad that Draphoenix went and changed his power's name in his HS page. Probably, he hasn't been around and didn't see much of what I wrote about/to him, (I really meant what I wrote) or he's really too offended. Could you communicate in any way with him, to say that there are actually people supporting him and his name of the power and to tell him that may be it's better if he changes back the name in the HS page (you would know better the latter part).
Does it become official now when he changes the name to pyrokinesis. Then do we have to delete the Phoenix mimicry page?!! I hope not. By the way, could you take a look to what I wrote to the talk page of memory restoration. What do you think? --Janrodrigo 09:11, 10 November 2009 (EST)
- I've talked with Draphoenix quite a bit...I agree, it's too bad that he's changed the name of the ability, I suppose either out of pressure from what he perceived from the community, or from the desire to just forget about having a power that some people didn't like. That's the ability that was shown in the iStory, no matter what changes were made to the character's H:S profile.
On another note, Jan, thanks for being such a helpful citizen of the Heroes community and a strong team player. Your supportive comments throughout the wiki (and particularly on the phonenix mimicry talk page) are much appreciated by me, and I'm sure by others. - What I did was change a couple spaces, so the readability of it while in edit mode improves. Also to keep the line from becoming a non-stop thread of letters. The spaces I added are just after the "notes" templates. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 08:27, 15 November 2009 (EST)

Re:Aspect ratio
Ryan, I tried the same thing with User:Janrodrigo/sig and User:Janrodrigo/Autosig but I couldn't find the exact place I need to change in my preferences. Is it the "nickname" that I should change? What should I write there? Thank you. --{{User:Janrodrigo/Autosig}} 06:42, 25 November 2009 (EST)
- Yes it is the nickname space and you type in {{User:Janrodrigo/Autosig}} and click the raw signature box. ~~IHH—Talk 08:33, 25 November 2009 (EST)
- Actually, I believe you have to type
{{SUBST:User:Janrodrigo/Autosig}}in the nickname spot, and then click the raw signature box. Let me know if it's working for you, Jan, or if you still need a hand. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:03, 25 November 2009 (EST)- Thank you very much, both of you :) Actually you're both right. little technical question
Hi Ryan, Just a little question.. How do you do so that a template (for example {{subst:welcome}} ) appears everytime a page (for example a user discussion page) is created. Thanks --Janrodrigo 04:10, 25 November 2009 (EST)
- That's kind of a tricky template, simply because it uses MediaWiki:newarticletext, which is locked to non-administrators. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:07, 25 November 2009 (EST)
- The thing is I'm an admin in the Ladino Wikipedia and there, we are really few people. I've created a
{{subst:welcome}}template there and I wanted to know how to add that on the top of the new user discussion pages. I also have the rights of translator in that language in Betawiki. I hope, I'm not being too much on you with this. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 09:30, 25 November 2009 (EST)- Ah, okay, I see. I thought you might be asking because you wanted to make your own custom template that would pop up for certain pages. Anyway, you'll simply want to go to MediaWiki:newarticletext (which may also be called "MediaWiki:newarticletextanon"). I think the simplified code we use here on this wiki is
{{#ifeq: {{NAMESPACE}} | User talk | <div class="plainlinks" style="background-color:#C0C0C0;border:2px outset #9999bb;text-align:center;padding:2px 5px;width:150px">[{{fullurl:{{FULLPAGENAMEE}}|action=edit&preload=Template:welcomeuser}} <font color=#000000> Welcome! </font>]</div><br /> }}. I hope that helps. If it's not working, let me know--and send me a link. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:19, 25 November 2009 (EST)- No, unfortunately, it didn't work. Here is the link. Thanks a lot Ryan, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 16:20, 25 November 2009 (EST)
- I'm not sure. Maybe because it's in a different there's something that needs to change. Like, maybe the user talk pages aren't called "User talk"? Or maybe there are certain functions that aren't enabled on that wiki. I don't know, I'm not sure, to be honest. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:06, 25 November 2009 (EST)
- Thank you, anyway, I'll try changing the names and best I think, I could ask the eldest admin over there :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:22, 26 November 2009 (EST)

- I want, like Volume 1, to be a block and not to be a separate line every week, some goes for Pod One for example. I hope I'm not asking too much on you these days - especially I wouldn't want to take your time if you're busy :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:22, 26 November 2009 (EST)
- You could make Volume One auto-collapsible and going horizontal. And then the Pods horizontal and auto-collapsible inside Volume One. The the weeks vertical inside thee pods. Just a suggestion! For an excelent example of what I'm talking about, see the Cockney Heroestemplate at the bottom of every page. - Yes but deciphering that code and prepraing a similar one for the template, probably would take at least 2-3 hours for me. I (almost) only do here what I'd planned, you know, like a long while ago. But if you don't either have time, never mind it, I'll do it myself later on. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 11:44, 26 November 2009 (EST)
- I might be able to do it tomorrow, but not today... ~~IHH—Talk 12:14, 26 November 2009 (EST)
- It's not something of urgency, you may do it whenever you like - I'm going to advance slowly anyway on that, one week, each week. And I hope you didn't feel pressurised, because I didn't mean it at all. Friendly, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 12:26, 26 November 2009 (EST)
- Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time either right now. But I've always found that one of the best ways to get really proficient at creating template code is simply to practice, practice, practice! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:18, 26 November 2009 (EST)
- I did what you asked (inside noinclude tags) and added a comment to the talk page. But Ryan, I think I might need your help. Inside the Season sections, where there are the Pod sections, I can't seem to make them collapse, or auto collapse even. Also, the top header I can't make close all of the Seasons and Pre-premire section inside of it.
- Sorry, can't help you now. :( -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:53, 27 November 2009 (EST)

Relive Heroes
Dear IHH,
I've a proposition to make for you. I've opened a group a while ago, called Relive Heroes. Would you like to join it?
It's primary intention is to make the member relive (live again) or just live (if s/he didn't experience before) the entire Heroes adventure from the beginning, with all its contents (that's episodes, webisodes, GNs, iStories and all the Heroes 360, Heroes Evolutions content).
Would you consider joining? It could be really fun, you also have the season 1 DVD so, when time is right, you would watch the episode of the time and then recieve that weeks mails and GN andd HE content etc. You will also recieve game updates from Suresh's Loft (that's Mohinder's office and Bridget's messages). What do you think? -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:49, 28 November 2009 (EST)
Timeline
I've started putting a page together with the dates that we know. The page is here, what do you think? - Jenx222 | U / T / C 11:41, 28 November 2009 (EST)

Patroller
Hey, Jan. How would you like to be a patroller here? Take a look at Heroes Wiki:Patrollers and see if it's something you'd like to do. If so, reply back to my talk page. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:27, 2 December 2009 (EST)
- Hi Ryan, wow - of course, I would adore to be a patroller. Thank you so many very many much :)) Only, there's something that worries me so I left a message to your facebook account. Thanks :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 15:56, 2 December 2009 (EST)
- Hey Jan, I got your message and replied back to you. I went ahead and made you a patroller. Congratulations! You'll want to check out Heroes Wiki:Patrollers again--it has great tips, etc. Don't forget to add your name to the page. Try patrolling some unpatrolled edits. Let me know if you have any questions. If I'm not around, feel free to ask one of the patrollers who has been doing it a bit longer, or leave a message at Heroes Wiki talk:Patrollers (which is a page I suggest you add to your watchlist). Congrats! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:46, 2 December 2009 (EST)

Hi Radicell,
Hi Radicell,
I'm having some questions in my mind about patrolling. Could I ask you about them? -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 15:15, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- Sure. What's on your mind? --Radicell 22:41, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- Dear Radi, I'm sorry to have written you so late cause real world duties this time really kept me off the net. Should all those conversations be read in order to patrol all of them? Does ALL of them need to be patrolled? Another question is, is it possible to see who has patrolled which edit? I actually started patrolling with the oldest mainspace articles, because Ryan had told me that they go away after a certain time. If I see an unpatrolled edit of 5 days ago, but that page afterwards have been edited by both RGS, you, IE for example, but the edited part neither have been changed nor marked as edited, and that edit seems correct to me, should I mark it then as patrolled? Or, patrolling the old version of a page which has already been edited so many times by both admins and other patrollers is a waste of time? I know I've asked a lot of questions but I can lastly put just this. What are your good advises to me about all aspects of patrolling. I just needed some hands to guide me a little about patrolling, some elder brotherly advises. That's all. Thank you very much Radi in advance and take care too, Friendly & Lovingly, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 10:57, 8 December 2009 (EST)
- I understand what you're saying, I used to be in the exact same vein of thinking as you. I would see the huge list of unpatrolled user and user talk edits, and be like, "well, somebody's gotta patrol them." Then, Ryan told me about how edits become unpatrollable after an amount of time. So my advice is to simply follow the priorities -- mainspace pages, episode pages, GN pages, etc. It doesn't really matter one way or another if user pages aren't patrolled. And keep in mind that the purpose of patrolling is not to clear the Recent Changes of the red exclamation marks. It's so that all edits can be reviewed at least once to maintain the quality of the wiki. Regarding your question about the unpatrolled edit of 5 days ago, yes, you should patrol that edit. :) --Radicell 02:11, 9 December 2009 (EST)

Ando's Calendar
Hi Ricard, I'd left you a message in Talk:Timeline:Pre-eclipse. It's probable that you didn't see it so I write you back in here :)
- At the very least, the first time we see Hiro and Ando in Genesis, it would appear it is actually SEPTEMBER 2006. 30). --Ricard Desi (t,c) 03:40, 3 December 2009 (EST)
- Yes, I checked it Ricard, it is really there, nice catch :) By the way I'm also rewatching Heroes for the timeline as you mentioned in the Patroller's page. May be we can help each other (though I've have a limited timeframe because of real world duties). Did you see this, a template that me and IHH were preparing for the timeline calculations? And I'd open a group outside HW, it's here. Take a look if you want, it's very useful. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 09:58, 3 December 2009 (EST)
- Yes, I did see that, sorry for not responding to it. I have no problem working together on getting the timeline figured out (my reason for keeping stuff on my page is just because my notes are REALLY messy -- but thorough -- and tend to overflow stuff). I've also got a lot going on for the next two weeks, but after that I'm gonna be buckling down on this to try and figure it out. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 10:26, 8 December 2009 (EST)
- I'm happy, you would like working together. Actually, I'm also very busy the upcoming few weeks (actually 5 weeks). But I'll be doing some work time to time during that period and more rapidly after 5 weeks. By the way I saw your user page. Alors, vous parlez le Français? Vous travaillez aussi pour le HW en Français? C'est génial :)) See you around. Take care, Friendly -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 11:04, 8 December 2009 (EST)

- Of course Altes:
| Fall asleep Maya, you are in ancient/old hands, Maya don't cry for you are beautiful and charming... |
Just a note, I could have translated few words differently.
Hechicera actually means "one (woman) that practices magic" or simply "witch". But with time it also got the meaning charming. So I guessed, here he was calling her charming not magician.
Antiguo can mean both "old" and "ancient", so you can use both.
And Duérmete can mean "go to sleep", "fall asleep" or just "sleep". You can depend the translation upon the context.
Hope that helped Altes,
Friendly -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 13:06, 13 December 2009 (EST)
- Thank you so much, Jan, you've just helped end one of the most worrying stubs! :)

Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall
Hi Ryan,
Last week today, they started airing Heroes Volume 5, here in Turkey, on the channel CNBC-e. And probably it was not something that CNBC-e did, because it was not a subtitle, the script appeared inside the fridge of Noah's home in Washington D.C., in the beginnings of the episode. And it was exactly the same script and style used for other episodes!
As far as I know, we use the title "Jump, Push, Fall" based on NBC.com and we had until now, no in-episode information about how the second part of the Chapter 1 was called, or whether there was even a second part or not. Because, there was no real point of breakage in NBC.
Well, here, last week, they finished the episode with Sylar holding Matty and saying "I want my body back!". Today they started with a "previously in Heroes" where they showed some of the last volume and mostly of last week's episode (Orientation), then they started with where they left off, the talk of Matt and Sylar with Matty in his arms. Take care, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 15:34, 13 December 2009 (EST)
- Thanks, Jan. That's great information! Can you get a screenshot of the refrigerator? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:26, 14 December 2009 (EST)
- You're welcome Ryan, unfortunately in Turkey we don't have the luxury of watching episodes onlines. But.. it'll air again 1 or 2 more times I think, so until then if I can find a way to watch the channel through the net, I'll definitely take a screenshot =) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 01:18, 15 December 2009 (EST)
- Excellent. If you have the capabilities, you could record it or burn it on a DVD, and then transfer that to your computer. If not, no worries. Thanks, Jan! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:42, 15 December 2009 (EST)
- I called CNBC-e and they told me that they never give away a copy of something aired, but I searched the net for a way of watching and recording CNBC-e online, and I found Sipru. I downloaded it and just now I've recorded the part that interests us. (It continues to air, btw, right now) It's little less than 15 MBs, how should I send it to you? Btw, I'll go ahead and screenshot where it says Chapter One: Orientation, Part Two, and add it as an image to the wiki. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 04:52, 20 December 2009 (EST)
- I went ahead and added the title card image. However the quality of the image is not great and I'm not sure if I should choose aired or unaired category here. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 05:40, 20 December 2009 (EST)
- Hey Ryan should I send you the video I recorded? And to which email? Did you see the image I uploaded? -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 17:11, 20 December 2009 (EST)
- Yes, I saw it. It's great, but you're right, it needs to be better quality. If you want to try to send the video to my email address (ryangibsonstewart at heroeswiki dot com), that'd be awesome. If you can't send it, you might try a file sharing site. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:25, 20 December 2009 (EST)
- I tried every way of uploading to my mail. It didn't work. At the end I succedeed to upload it to youtube - It's my first upload to youtube :) Check it here. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 18:29, 20 December 2009 (EST)
- Wow, the video I've uploaded have already been blocked by NBC Universal :( I'll try facebook. Do you have any other suggestions? -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 18:36, 20 December 2009 (EST)
- Ok, I did it, I sent you the video from facebook. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 18:44, 20 December 2009 (EST)
- Wow, NBC is quick! I got the video, and the necessary image. I'll start making a few changes. Thanks so much, Jan. This is very valuable and helpful information. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:37, 20 December 2009 (EST)

- Yeah, me and Radicell had asked abou it to Ryan, but he'd told that the writers told it was Monday, the day they were publishing. It's the second time now that I catched it up, 5 minutes ago it was not on NBC and 5 minutes later it's there (between 05.08 and 05.13 EST) so I know for sure, it's Tuesday helas.. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 06:18, 29 December 2009 (EST)

Oops
Guys,
I'd an accident around 8 days ago and as a result I got hernia. Take care everyone,
Love,
Brotherly,

I'm Back
No one seems to have noticed the message above. At least, I wanted to say that I almost recovered (though it took longer than I expected). I've been able to get out of bed & walk since 3 weeks. And in that period I had the defense of my thesis, that I completed in my - resting in bed - period. I passed the defense. Now, only some formalities are left for my graduation. And I just moved from a house to another. I'm sorry for not being able to be around, also especially in the ending of the season.
So, I'm back now! I hope, I'll get used to edit as before, as soon as possible :) IHH, soon I wanna start to take care of the template we created too. And hello everyone. Good to get back. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 14:51, 9 March 2010 (EST)

Save Heroes, and Save the World! Join the Movement
Jan Rodrigo,
Hello, my name is Corrina Clark. Less than a week ago, I learned of the cancellation and NBC's inability to even decide if we get to have an ending.
Like most of us fans I wanted to do something to make a difference. I first got mad, and cursed at NBC and swore never to watch another show on thier networks. Then I started reading all the other statements. The more I read, the more I knew something needed to be done,
I was on my Facebook uploading some pics when I saw the groups button and created my own. I then began searching out other groups on facebook and added people and asked them if they would like to join me and told them my ideas. Now we have a Website, that was donated for our use.
we have an agenda, we are getting more and more organized every day, and instead of just having a group, we would have a group to join all Heroes groups, on every site, and country in efforts of saving Heroes. please take a look at my facebook group and then check out the new website. I am very new to website management or design, I didn't ask for it and I do it all for free, for Heroes. I am resourceful and creative in my approch. I could however use a more experienced opinion. I dont feel I am the only leader, I share in alot of things Equally, My admins have more power than I do. Expecte updates and changes at the website shortly.
Save Heroes, and Save the World!
Join the Movement
Thank you,
Corrina L. Clark
