About

Times Square is the most famous place in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Like Red Square in Moscow, Champs-Elysées in Paris, Trafalgar Square in London, or Tienanmen Square in Beijing, Times Square has achieved the status of an iconic world landmark and has become a symbol of its home city. Times Square is principally defined by its lighted and animated advertisements.

Genesis

Hiro Nakamura is standing on the Tokyo subway in Japan when he sees an advertisement for New York City. Then, using his power, he suddenly finds himself standing in the middle of Times Square. He gleefully exclaims, "Yatta!"

Don't Look Back

Hiro walks down the street, greeting everyone in broken English. He encounters a newsstand vendor who is selling an odd comic book. The cover illustration of 9th Wonders!, Issue #14, shows Hiro in the middle of Times Square, arms stretched wide, just as he was moments before.

The Line

Peter and Caitlin, having been in Montreal only moments before, mysteriously appear in an abandoned Times Square. Peter finds an evacuation flyer on the floor indicating that they had not only teleported location, but also more than a year into the future.

Saving Charlie

• While on board a Tokyo subway, Hiro watches an advertisement for "Vacations in New York City" which features images of the Times Square. Hiro then teleports to Times Square in the future. (Chapter 3)
• Hiro recalls being in the Tokyo subway one second, and in Times Square the next second. Without any other choices, he walks down 42nd street and sees a newsstand with an issue of 9th Wonders! that seems to tell Hiro's future. In fact, the cover of the comic, shows Hiro standing in the middle of Times Square with his arms outstretched. Hiro pays a newsie for the comic and leaves Times Square to head towards Isaac's loft. (Chapter 17)
