St. Louis is the 18th largest metropolitan area in the country. It is known for its professional athletic teams in baseball, football, and hockey, as well as it's collegiate basketball teams. It's location along the Mississippi River made the city a suitable location for traders in the 18th century, and its location in "middle America" brings a cultural and economical diversity. It is known as "The Gateway to the West" and is the starting point for the Lewis & Clark Trail, as well as home to a stretch of the scenic and historic Route 66.

On their way from Odessa to New York City, Mr. Bennet, Matt, and Ted stop in St. Louis. They switch cars at a used car lot, and Ted gets the car started.

West tells Claire that he was abducted by a man in horn-rimmed glasses when he was living in St. Louis.
