:I agree. I think we need another picture that shows her using her ability, and maybe one without her in the water so people don't confuse this ability for breathing underwater even though it allows for it(?). --[[User:OutbackZack|OutbackZack]] 14:23, 23 February 2009 (EST) |

| Ability Naming Conventions | |
|---|---|
| The following sources are used for determining evolved human ability names, in order: | |
| 1. Canon Sources | Episodes |
| Webisodes, Graphic Novels, iStories, Heroes Evolutions | |
| 3. Secondary Sources | Episode commentary, Interviews, Heroes: Survival |
| 4. Common names for abilities | Names from other works |
| 5. Descriptions of abilities | Descriptions |
| 6. Possessor's name | If no non-speculative description is possible |
| Source/Explanation | |
| In Berlin, Part 1, Devin describes Bianca's ability as being able to "adapt her lungs to any environment". | |
Description
"Abnormal Environments" seems a little redundant. The power only really needs "adapt to any environment," which, if I'm not mistaken, is what he said in the novel, no?--Riddler 18:40, 25 June 2008 (EDT)
- I agree. So we should change it (at least until we get her tracker profile). Shoyru1177 19:04, 25 June 2008 (EDT)
- I'm fine with either, but "any environment" is said in the novel so I changed it to that.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:43, 25 June 2008 (EDT)
Atmospheric respiration
Last time I checked, underwater areas don't have atmospheres and I don't see atmospheric respiration being derived directly from the dialogue describing her ability. This should stay "lung adaptation" and should not have been changed without first discussing it here first. I've reverted the move. Please discuss first.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:45, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- Actually, it's not a literal "atmosphere", if you want to get technical, but it is a breathing medium. If you read the reason why I changed it to atmospheric respiration, you would know that I fashioned the name after "matter ingestion", the ability to eat through any substance without bodily harm (hence atmospheric respiration, the ability to breathe in any BREATHING MEDIUM without bodily harm, despite how dangerous the breathing medium would be to normal humans). Could you change it back or was it too much to ask??? --Shadowulf1 22:04, July 11, 2008
- To the unsigned commenter: Both "lung" and "adaptation" are terms used or variations of those used in the novel. Neither "atmospheric" nor "respiration" are used in the novel. Terminology used in the novel or in the assignment tracker (which isn't up for Bianca yet) trumps other common names and descriptions. What actually is the correct scientific terms is debatable, but it doesn't matter for the purpose of the article's name.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:55, 11 July 2008 (EDT)
- Hey, Shadowulf. Have you checked out the naming convention? That governs how we pick the names for abilities demonstrated in the show or in graphic novels. It can be a little complicated at times, but it helps ensure that we pick the most appropriate name for the ability based on what the writers write. (Admin 23:05, 11 July 2008 (EDT))
Adaptation vs. adaptability
Are GNs over Heroes Evolutions since they are in-story? If so, Graphic Novel:Hindsight calls this ability "lung adaptation" so we would revert the name.--MiamiVolts (talk) 07:56, 19 August 2008 (EDT)
- Strictly speaking, they are equal. Imo, just as MiamiVolts point out, when conflicts arise, it make sence to primary go with in-story referenses. Pierre 11:08, 19 August 2008 (EDT)
- Her assignment tracker profile calls it "adaptation". It should probably be changed.--Referos 20:26, 19 August 2008 (EDT)
- However according to the profile, it doesn't seems that she can actually adapt to different environment - she's just able to hold her breath for a really long time. Chrisyu357 10:05, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
- Not that it matters, but my theory is that her lungs adapt by using anaerobic respiration.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:55, 21 August 2008 (EDT)

Right Picture
Is this the right picture? I don't think this portrays the ability well as it looks more like she is taking a breath than adapting her lungs --Irony 13:48, 16 January 2009 (EST)
