| history = Flint Gordon Jr. was born and raised on a farm in rural Arkansas. His mother died from complications during childbirth, but he was left with one sibling, an older sister named Meredith Gordon (see case file C3018). Flint's early childhood was marked by ritualistic abuse at the hands of his father, who seemed to unconsciously blame the boy for the death of his mother. This abuse had a significant effect on Flint's own aggression later in life (see psychological profile). |
|||
| history = Gray is the son of a horologist who carried on his father's trade for several years before being approached for study by Dr. Chandra Suresh, who termed Gray his "patient zero." Under Dr. Suresh's inadvertent tutelage, Gray realized he had more than one anomalistic ability; in fact, he came to understand that he could absorb the abilities of others. The specific mechanism of acquiring these powers remain unclear, but we understand that it requires the removal of the victim's brain matter. Several hypotheses have been postulated regarding the precise manner in which Gray acquires abilities from his victims' brain matter, but until Gray is in our custody none of these theories are regarded as valid. |

Flint Gordon Sr. was killed in a house fire when Flint was eight; the cause of the fire is unknown but may have been caused by one of the Gordons, both of whom are known to have manifested pyrokinetic abilities. It should be noted that it is unlikely Flint manifested his ability at this time. Flint was separated from his sister and lived in at least six group homes and with several foster families in various states (AR, TX, TN, MO) before running away. |
|||
With the incorporation of new abilities into his genetic structure, Gray assumed the name Sylar and began killing individuals on Dr. Suresh's list of evolved humans. |

At seventeen years of age Flint was charged on multiple counts of robbery and arson in West Virginia and Maryland. He was later released on bail by his sister, and dropped off the grid shortly afterward. He has since been linked to a number of other arrests for petty crimes under various aliases and has strong ties to at least two murder cases. |

Gray has to date killed three evolved humans that we know of, although the possibility of further, unknown victims exists. Agents have been dispatched to capture him, but Gray has proven elusive and this far our agents have been unable to even locate Gray despite their best efforts. Reports indicate that Gray is currently somewhere in California as his last murder occurred in Los Angeles. |

In late 2006 Company agents captured both Flint and his sister Meredith in Memphis, Texas. The Gordons were placed aboard a freight train bound for Odessa, where they were to be delivered to Primatech Paper, but en route Flint was able to help his sister escape, at the cost of being recaptured himself. |

Recently Company Agents encountered Gray in Albuqerque, NM. Despite the best efforts of Agent Thompson, Gray was able to murder his partner and escape. |

| psych = The subject's overbearing mother originally forced upon him the notion that he was "special" and meant for more than his family's middle-class existence. When the subject failed to live up to her expectations, he fell into the family trade as a horologist and grew increasingly frustrated with his life.<br> |

Flint was briefly detained in Primatech Paper and interrogated by Director Thompson to determine if he knew the location of any of Meredith Gordon's safehouses, but after it was determined that he had no information of value he was relocated to the more secure facility at Primatech Research in Hartsdale, New York. En route to Primatech Research Flint was able to overpower his guards and escape. He currently remains at large. |

When the subject first manifested his ability, he realized he could use it to fulfill his deep-seated desire to be "special" and thus prove his worth to his demanding mother. However, infusion of foreign DNA into the subject's genome has corrupted his mind and moral compass. The subject has begun to see himself as superior to average people, and this perceived superiority has caused him to believe that he has the moral authority to murder at will. The subject has become sociopathic and is singularly focused on gaining more abilities. This murderous obsession will compel him to seek out more victims. Extreme caution must be exercised if encountering this subject in any scenario. |
|||
| psych = The subject's traumatic childhood instilled in him a hostile, aggressive attitude towards other people, although he is not entirely antisocial. Instead, he alternates between moments of colloquial interaction with others and outbursts of extreme violence. His troubled personal history and intense fascination with his own ability make him a considerably dangerous threat. He has consistently exhibited very relaxed moral values and willingness to use his power to kill, even against unarmed individuals who represent no threat. |
|||
Despite the subject's antisocial tendencies, it should also be noted that his intelligence quotient scores are on the weaker end of the spectrum, and additionally he has met with very little kindness in his life. As a result, an agent of sufficient guile may be able to apprehend this subject with a minimum of violence. The subject exhibits a high level of control over his abilities, able to produce flames at an extremely high temperature. |
