Omid Abtahi is the Iranian-American film and television actor who portrayed the Engineer in the unaired pilot. His role was cut from the final show, although many elements of his character were rewritten into the character Theodore Sprague.

Omid has appeared in a number of television shows including Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Judging Amy, and The Unit, and has had recurring roles in Sleeper Cell and Over There. He appeared in the fourth season of 24 as "Safa", and again in the seventh season as "Jibraan Al-Zarian".
