Sylar stands over his latest victim, Jackie Wilcox. | |
| First occurrence: | Don't Look Back |
As Sylar moves across the country, he is leaving a growing number of victims.
List of Presumed Victims
- Brian Davis is presumably Sylar's first victim (while still known as Gabriel Gray/Gabriel Sylar). Brian was (manually) hit from behind with a large crystal. After Brian's murder, Sylar acquired his power. (Six Months Ago)
- In Chicago, Sylar killed a white male, possibly named David. (Turning Point)
- Sylar gave his clothes to an old man as a decoy. Audrey was duped into thinking she found Sylar, and shot the old man. (Turning Point)
- In a dream, Mohinder sees his father, Chandra, killed by an unseen figure wearing Sylar's watch, presumably Sylar himself, in a cab. (Seven Minutes to Midnight)
- James Walker and his wife are found dead in their home, their daughter traumatized. (Don't Look Back)
- Hiro discovers the corpse of Isaac in the future. (Don't Look Back)
- In an unaired scene, Sylar froze a uniformed cop guarding Molly. (One Giant Leap)
- Sylar also impaled an FBI agent who was guarding Molly at headquarters. (One Giant Leap)
- Charlie is killed in the back of the Burnt Toast Diner. (Seven Minutes to Midnight)
- Jackie Wilcox is killed by Sylar at Union Wells High School, fulfilling a painting by Isaac and Peter. (Homecoming)
- Hank is killed in Sylar's cell after Sylar fakes his own death. (The Fix)
- Sylar kills a Northeast Brewing Company trucker by telekinetically jamming broken beer bottles into his head. (Road Kill)
- Sylar kills Zane Taylor, then steals his identity and power. (Run!)
List of Attempted Victims
- After failing to locate her at her parents' home, Sylar attempts to abduct Molly Walker from FBI Headquarters in Los Angeles. (One Giant Leap)
- Audrey Hanson draws her gun on Sylar and orders him to stop, but she is somehow hurled backward. He then somehow makes her point her gun at her own head, but before he can make her fire, Matt arrives and fires several shots at the suspect, who gets up and escapes, as does Audrey.(One Giant Leap)
- Claire Bennet regenerates after Sylar throws her aside to focus on Jackie Wilcox. He realizes it's Claire, not Jackie, who is an evolved human, and pursues her, but is prevented from killing her by Peter Petrelli. (Homecoming)
- After being thwarted in his attempts to kill Claire, Sylar pursues Peter Petrelli. Sylar grabs Peter, and they both fall off the bleachers at Union Wells High School, and onto the pavement below. Though Peter lays twisted on mangled on the ground, he temporarily adopts Claire's power of regeneration and survives. (Homecoming)
- Eden McCain is attacked by Sylar through his holding cell's glass, but shoots herself before he can take her power. (Fallout)
- In Sylar's cell, Mr. Bennet is telekinetically thrown against the repaired glass window. (Distractions)
- At the Bennets' home, Sylar causes Sandra Bennet to be knocked into a glass bookshelf. (Distractions)
Methods
Sylar has used several methods to attack his victims:
- Blunt force
- Freezing them
- Impaling them
- Mistaken identity
- Telekinetically throwing them
Additionally, some victims have the top of their skulls cut off, and their brains removed. The purpose for this act is currently unknown.
- Mohinder Suresh discovers that Sylar owns an extensive collection of autopsy books in his apartment. It is implied that Sylar is perfecting his technique.
- Not every victim is killed in this manner, possibly indicating Sylar is targeting evolved humans for brain removal in order to gain their powers.
Notes
- In an interview with writers Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite, they said that three months ago is both when Audrey took the Sylar case, and when Sylar's murders attracted major attention.
- Audrey Hanson had mistakenly attributed the death of Dr. Robert Fresco to Sylar in "Nothing to Hide".
- Sylar is seen wearing the same broken wristwatch as Chandra's killer in Mohinder's dream. Assuming the dream is accurate, Chandra Suresh is likely another of Sylar's victims. If so, then why he was killed in such a different fashion from the others likely has some significance.
- Eden McCain believed that Sylar was Chandra's killer; she tells Mohinder she's going to take care of his father's killer right before her encounter with Sylar. (Fallout)
- Mohinder tells the FBI that six people on the list have been killed, including Charlie Andrews and James Walker. (Fallout)
Memorable Quotes
"There isn't a Sylar. Last words of a dying victim, it didn't mean anything."
"We've pieced a trail across a dozen states. All people impaled by household objects. Bones broken. All without any traceable sign of physical contact. But only some of them involve any mutilation of the head or neck, so they don't see the connections."
"Three months ago my job made perfect sense to me. Then I pulled the Sylar case."
