Halloween

I picked up on this earlier today when watching, I think it was, The Hard Part, on DVD.

Molly's line "You can't stop the boogeyman" is extremely similar to Tommy's line at the end of the original Halloween, "You can't kill the boogeyman." Think it's worth mentioning somewhere or am I just reading too much into something (again)? Erika 12:57, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

• Very possible, though it's a pretty general line that might simply mean what it means, and not be a reference to Halloween at all. In the Commentary for the Line

They referenced a couple of movies, the one I remember the most is North By Northwest during the West/Debbie chase scene. They also mention something earlier in the episode.Random guy 04:40, 2 November 2007 (EDT)

'Watchmen' Reference

In the episode 'It's Coming', when Elle burns off Sylar's flesh, and we see him reduced to a skeleton, it is a clear reference to a panel in the graphic novel 'Watchmen', and anyone who has read the novel will get what I am talking about. He wasn't reduced to a skeleton, but we could see his skull through his skin. I fail to see how that's a reference to Watchmen; seeing one's bones through one's skin whilst being electrocuted is a common effect in fiction. It would also help, JHero, if you posted an actual link to the comic's panel or at least described what was in it, instead of limiting the number of people who would understand your supposed reference to Watchmen fans. I think, being that Sylar is also the son of a watchmaker, like Dr. Manhattan, we can assume that any references are intentional, especially one that is so similar. JHero (talk) 10:45, 1 January 2009 (EST)

I suggest we split this portal into "References to Films", "References to Comics", and "References to Other Works".

        • Good call on Star Trek. I moved it over to "Other". If we put all references to film and TV in one portal, there would be 13 articles there, but only 8 in "Other". I'm fine with keeping Star Trek in other since it really is a multimedia franchise. I think my thinking originally was to consider it a TV show...
