My computer (and probably a few others') do not support .ogg format. Would you mind reuploading [[Image:Powers peter matt.ogg]]. [[User:Shoyru1177|Shoyru1177]] 18:51, 21 June 2008 (EDT) |

* Unfortunately, .OGG is the only audio format supported by MediaWiki for uploads by default, in part because it's free and open source. Codecs like MP3 are actually proprietary and licensed and thus cost money.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 11:42, 22 June 2008 (EDT) |

So my computer crashed last weekend. I know, sob sob, it's okay. But the good news is I have all new, um, everything. I'm loving Firefox 2.0 (yea spell check!) Two quick questions, though. First, I'm not able to use the alt functions now (for instance, I can't patrol using alt-p, or upload using alt-u). Any way to turn this on, or any remedies of which you know? Second, I somehow lost my picture editing program, and can't remember what it was. Is there a good free one (yes, I'm a cheapo) I can download? Thanks! — [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 21:26, 1 March 2007 (EST) |

*I hope you used the Firefox link at the bottom of the wiki, Ryan. :) As for photo editing, if you want something simple try Picassa. There's a link to that at the bottom of the page, too. :) If you want more power, I like [http://www.gimp.org/windows/ the GIMP]. Free, open-source... and has a Windows version for you people still stuck on Windows. :) ([[User:Admin|Admin]] 21:48, 1 March 2007 (EST)) |

*I dunno if that was a typo or not, but all of the alt functions show up as Alt+Shift+(Letter) on mine, not Alt+(Letter).--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 00:14, 2 March 2007 (EST) |

Sorry about that (adding the two non-Preview Parasite clips. I hate this Canada-early thing....) == Ryan Smith == |
|||
Any idea who [http://imdb.com/name/nm1270217/ Ryan Smith] is? IMDb lists him as playing a deputy (I'm assuming at the [[Burnt Toast Diner]]) in ''[[Six Months Ago]]'' and ''[[Homecoming]]''. He was also in ''[[Las Vegas (TV series)|Las Vegas]]'', which is nice. — [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 17:15, 10 March 2007 (EST) |
|||
* I think he's one of the ones we couldn't really identify. He must be one of the ones who speaks in ''[[Homecoming]]'' as they arrest Peter, since he's credited, but I'm not sure which. Incidentally, my best friend when I was a kid had a younger brother called "Ryan Smith". Probably not the same guy, I'm guessing--but y'know, "Smith" is such an uncommon name, to say nothing of "Ryan". Only weirdos name their kids ... ah ... Ryan.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 17:19, 10 March 2007 (EST) |
|||
**I knew a guy named Ryan Smith in elementary school. (Again, probably not the same guy.) However, were sworn enemies, precisely ''because'' we had the same first name. Kids... — [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 17:22, 10 March 2007 (EST) |
|||
***OK, now that his IMDb has pictures, he's easier to locate. He's the first one on the scene when Peter's arrested in Homecoming (picture coming). Haven't seen him in Six Months Ago; I'm presuming he's at the diner, since the only other Midland-Odessa scenes are at the Bennet home.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 17:24, 10 March 2007 (EST) |
|||
****That's kinda what I was thinking, since there's not too many common places in those two eps. Although, IMDb has been known to be wrong. ([[James Kyson Lee]] is credited for 19 ''Heroes'' episodes, and [[Santiago Cabrera]] is credited with only 3. Go figure.) — [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 17:28, 10 March 2007 (EST) |
|||
*****Actually, I think it's just because Peter's arrest appears again at the end of 6MA. It's shot from a slightly different angle, and our boy Ryan speaks again, so I guess he would need a credit, even though it's the same scene.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 17:31, 10 March 2007 (EST) |
|||
****** Weird. He was also credited as the "Montecito Deputy" in <s>some crap show</s> ''Standoff''. Looking at the episode, it appears to be a bank, not a casino. *Thanks for the edit. My only problem is the fact that he does have a power. It's not just a theory, but what power he possesses is anyone's guess. I understand where you're coming from, though. :I think it's more about the fact that it's considered as [[Spoiler:.07%|spoiler]] to know(/presume?) that [[Mr. Linderman]] have a power. For the moment, regular visitors that only have watched the last episode ([[Parasite]]), it's still a theorie so it shouldn't appear on character's main page! ::No, you're absolutely correct. We have a pretty tight policy against putting unaired information on main pages. That's what spoilers are for. Beside the fact that the clip from aintitcoolnews isn't exactly confirming much of anything, since Linderman is seen demonstrating a power (and McDowell telling ''EW'' that his character has a power is convincing, but hardly canon), nothing has actually aired yet. So for the map (and other pages), I've noticed that some have links for a character/place/item once, and all occurrences afterwards do not have a link. If you need to undo multiple moves, just work backwards from the most recent to the oldest. Cutting-and-pasting the article contents instead wipes the edit history, which can be valuable.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 18:38, 26 March 2007 (EDT) |

**Your fix worked, but not in the way I wanted it to. It will fix the pictures, but not the link. I don't know what to fix, so I started down the route of just manually making templates. However, if there's a way to have the link for the second page of season 2 to link to Portal:Guest Cast 2/Season Two or if the season was one, Portal:Guest Cast 2/Season One, then I wouldn't have to manually fix it. The template works like a charm with the season aspect, but it doesn't change the link. * I think we can make a concerted effort to use as many of them as possible, if there's an appropriate page. We can also check and make sure none of them are duplicates (or near duplicates) which can be deleted. If any are just plain bad, we can probably delete those, too. But I'm afraid we're probably stuck with a bunch of them just floating around unused. If there are any which are particularly useless, go ahead and slap <nowiki>{{afd}}</nowiki> on them and see what people say. It's worth a shot, even though there's really no ''reason'' to delete them. That said, I tend to agree with you: I'd rather have the page clean, too, but I get over it by just not going to it very often.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 18:13, 28 March 2007 (EDT) |

* [[User:Heroe|Heroe]] uploaded most of them. I'm not sure if he has plans for them, but it's worth waiting to see what he does with them. Personally, I don't see much value in a "behind the scenes" image page, and the copyright lawyer in me really dislikes the thought of image-only pages. ==Gitelman/Gittelman== |
|||
There's an argument to be made that "Gittelman" is correct; however, a caption on NBC.com is about the worst evidence you can provide. They screw up so frequently that the fact that they spell it with two T's makes me more convinced it's spelled with one. Among their errors to date, they've confused D.L. with the Haitian and spelled Niki with two K's. They're about as far from a reliable source as you can get, and definitely not a canon source.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 23:28, 29 March 2007 (EDT) |

* Well they spell Gabriel Gray with an A instead of an E does that mean their wrong? They corrected Deveaux and I don't recall seeing them having mixed DL with SED are you sure your not mixing it with a fan posting? also they spelled Bennett with a double T so which cannon are you following?
'''~ ~ ~ ~ [[User talk:Red|Red]] = 15:09, 30 March 2007 (EDT) |

** The only canon source is a broadcast episode or the graphic novel, period. A caption for the end of ''Hiros'' said "D.L. Hawkins -- Mr. Bennet's cleaner". It was rather famously mocked, and yes, I saw it myself. "Gray" ''is'' spelled with an "A" on-screen (see the window of Gray and Sons). "Bennet" has been spelled with a second "T" exactly once--in the closing credits for Lyle's name. Since the credits are not the episodes, the episodes (which have always spelled it with one T). While we're at it, "canon" is spelled with two n's, not three. A "cannon" is a big gun. A "canon" is a body of work which is formally recognized. Also, comments go at the bottom of talk pages, not the top.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] [[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]] 15:28, 30 March 2007 (EDT) |

**** You don't have to be immature about it. Hardvice is an administrator to the site, and his job is to ensure quality standards. The quality standard set for this site is to site canon from aired episodes. If you have a problem with it (or cannot express yourself in a mature manner), go to another site. We're trying our best to provide a service, and you're only making it difficult for others by carrying on this attitude.--[[User:Baldbobbo|Bob]] 16:52, 30 March 2007 (EDT) |

Matt feedback loop file
My computer (and probably a few others') do not support .ogg format. Would you mind reuploading File:Powers peter matt.ogg. Shoyru1177 18:51, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- Unfortunately, .OGG is the only audio format supported by MediaWiki for uploads by default, in part because it's free and open source. Codecs like MP3 are actually proprietary and licensed and thus cost money.--Hardvice (talk) 11:42, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

- I'm not an expert in firearms, but there's an image [1] on Wikipedia that closely resembles the Bennet's gun. Here's a black version of it: [2] Chrisyu357 14:04, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
- I'm not an expert either, but the grip in this image doesn't match (the Taurus 605 model's grip is not a complete arc like the Bennets' gun). The barrel of the 605 looks too long and it doesn't match the grip of Bennets' gun. I think it's something like the Taurus 85 Ultra Light, but with a wooden grip. Does that look right, Hardvice? Are there other manufacturers that you know of that have a similar make?--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:16, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
