Character History

Six Months Ago

Niki visits her deceased sister's grave, whose tombstone reads "Beloved Daughter and Sister, 1976-1987". Niki says that at one point, she couldn't go an hour without missing Jessica. D.L. suggests they say a prayer for Jessica.

Later, Jessica Sanders (Niki's alter ego) visits Hal Sanders and reminds him that he used to abuse Jessica (Niki's sister). She says that Hal used to choke Jessica and throw beer bottles at her. Despite Hal's denial, she says that Hal killed his daughter.

Distractions

At the Women's Correctional Facility, Dr. Witherson asks Niki about her past. Niki tells the doctor about Jessica's ability to play the piano beautifully, though Niki didn't understand how to read music. Niki says, "Jessica used to say that I could turn Mozart into a monkey."

The Hard Part

Niki's alter ego and D.L. break into Linderman's archives. They discover that Mr. Linderman keeps many documents and records about the Sanders family, including pictures of Jessica, Niki's sister.
