Story Development
Synopsis

In the future, Peter runs into a building where he is confronted by future Claire. After arguing, she attempts to shoot him, and futute Peter responds by freezing time, stealing her gun, and then teleporting to the present to stop evolved humans from being hunted. While Matt Parkman discovers that future Peter Petrelli went back in time to shoot Nathan Petrelli in order to avoid the persecution of people with special abilities but send to a desert by Future Peter, Sylar takes Claire Bennet's power of regeneration to help restore his abilities, but does not kill her—and, in fact, claims that he cannot kill her, "even if he wanted to." In New York, thanks to Maya Herrera, Mohinder Suresh manage to isolated the source of the Evolved Humans's power which is located in the adrenal glands and has injected himself with a formula he created. Once the serum injected, Mohinder became stronger and more agile and beat up two thugs who were trying to rob him. In Odessa, Nathan is rushed to the hospital and seemingly dies for a few minutes. However, he revives seconds later to Peter, and has an epiphany; he believes that God has given him a second chance at life. Nathan now believes that he must do God's bidding and decide not to reveal the existence of Evolved Humans, but he is now haunted by what appears to be a ghost of the late Daniel Linderman. In Japan, Hiro Nakamura learns that the Nakamura family has been protecting half of a chemical formula whose use could have dire consequences on the world. This half of the formula was rapidly stolen by Daphne Millbrook, a women with super speed. He goes to the future to see what would happen if the formula fell in the wrong hands, and is shocked to see the future Ando shoot red lightning from his hands, killing the Future Hiro. During the closing scenes of the episode, Mohinder reads the William Butler Yeats poem "The Second Coming," the title's namesake.
