Hanover grew up in the economic squalor of West Memphis, Arkansas. Parental guidance was minimal in his formative years - his father was an alchoholic and his mother was a largely absent figure, spending her time working as a waitress to support the family. Hanover had several minor offenses with local law enforcement in his teenage years, but after the death of his brother (a Marine lance corporal in Iraq), he gained a new perspective on life and decided to follow in his brother's example, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps both to escape the poverty of his life and to honor his brother's memory.

Hanover's career in the Marine Corps has been largely average, though certainly not for lack of trying - a would-be overachiever, Hanover has committed himself to the goal of being the best (see psychological profile), with arguably mixed results. However, despite his overeagerness and youthful bravado, Hanover proved himself a capable soldier during his tour of service in Iraq.

Shortly after being stationed in Baghdad, Hanover's ability first manifested. After the initial shock faded, Hanover began experimenting with his ability, at first in secret but eventually with the full knowledge of his unit. [Sentences Omitted: Classified] [Paragraph Omitted: Classified]

Psychologically stunted due to neglectful parentage, the subject has developed a pervasive inferiority complex, which arguably drives every action the subject takes. Concealing hidden insecurities behind brash chauvinism and false bravado, the subject is relentlessly driven by the psychological need to 'be the best,' justifying his worth both to others and himself. However, the subject's self-view is fundamentally skewed - he judges himself on the perceptions of others, and thus must continually justify his always-endangered sense of self worth.
The subject's inexperience and near-clinical need for approval make him a poor choice for operations where subtlety may be required. However, he has exhibited considerable enthusiasm towards his ability, experimenting with it constantly. Though currently only able to alter his arms and chest, the subject should be able to eventually alter the entire composition of his body.
