Character History
Season One
For an episode-by-episode summary, see Matt Parkman: Season One History.
Matt Parkman is an officer for the LAPD. He is busy securing a crime scene when he discovers he has the power of hearing people's thoughts; this enables him to locate a missing girl. However, upon mentioning the name "Sylar", Matt is arrested. Having proved to Audrey that his power is real, he is offered the chance to work for the FBI, and soon after is involved in a chase to catch the mysterious Sylar. He shoots at the killer, who disappears. Later, Matt is involved in a row with his wife, Janice, having missed a counselling session, and then collapses on the floor of a bar, unconscious, having been unable to read the mind of an unknown stranger.
Matt wakes up strapped to a table in a laboratory, and is told that his abilities won't work while the mystery man is present. Bennet instructs the man to "clean [Matt] out."
Powers
Matt has the power of telepathy, the ability to hear thoughts. It is not yet known whether he possesses other telepathic abilities, such as the ability to project thoughts. Matt sometimes is unable to control his abilities, and can be overwhelmed by intense thoughts.
