Character History
Season One
For an episode-by-episode summary, see Candice Willmer: Season One History.
After Matt Parkman and Ted Sprague are recaptured by the Company at the Bennet house, Candice monitors a sedated Matt Parkman at Primatech Paper Co.. Candice becomes Mr. Bennet's new partner and together, they help Isaac to cover up his murdering Simone using her power of illusion. Candice then helps Thompson to discover Mr. Bennet is hiding things from the Company and that he is involved in Claire's disappearance.
Later, Candice impersonates Jessica Sanders to assist Mr. Linderman to use Micah to alter the results of the congressional election in favor or Nathan Petrelli. After the election, Niki Sanders is able to locate the room where Micah is held in the Company's Kirby Plaza building. However, Candice becomes Jessica Sanders again before Niki enters and creates an illusion of Micah dead on the floor. After being thrown into a mirror, Niki speaks to the real Jessica through one of its shards. Realizing that the Jessica she's fighting is a fraud, Niki uses her strength and appears to knock Candice unconscious, disrupting the illusions.
Back when Candice is in high school, she is known as Betty and is belittled by many for being obese and belonging to the gothic crowd. Betty is very depressed about her life until she realizes she has the power to make people see illusions that are not really there.
When Betty's friend Ren gets picked on at lunch, Betty uses her newly discovered power to drive the bully insane. The next day, four of Crash's friends jump Ren in the woods and begin to beat on him. Ren manages to escape, but ends up falling down a hill and dying in a hospital. So Betty again takes revenge at the Homecoming pep rally, where she creates mass illusions that the frighten students and faculty. She then decides to leave both the school and her hometown for good. Deciding that from now people will see her as she wants to be seen she changes her appearance and decides on a new name--Candice.
Powers
Candice has the power of illusion. She is able to alter how people perceive reality around her. She can use this to "become" other people or even things and affect how they see the world.
Memorable Quotes
"Look, I don't want to hurt you. I like you. But if you don't listen to what Mr. Linderman says, well, I'll show you things that'll seriously mess you up for life. So, you need to behave. Okay?"
- - Candice (to Micah) (The Hard Part)
"I have a cousin who eats like you. He's huge."
"So am I."
- - Micah, Candice (Landslide)
"You're just too young to see how much the world sucks, how people can be so mean to each other just because of the way they were born or... what they look like."
Notes
- Candice is on the list.
- The NBC episode description lists the character as "Candice Wilmer". Her name also appeared onscreen as "Candice" (The Hard Part). On the list, her name is spelled "Candace Willmer".
- In a possible future timeline, Candice was killed by Sylar, who used her ability to impersonate President Nathan Petrelli.
- Although Candice appears as an attractive Caucasian woman in her mid-twenties, some of her comments suggest that in her true form, she is overweight and far less attractive (Landslide). The "Betty" series of graphic novels has confirmed that implication, showing her to be an overweight teenage girl with severe acne (Betty, Part 4).
- When knocked unconscious while impersonating Jessica, Candice reverted to the form in which she is normally seen. There are hints in an interview that she may have maintained the illusion despite being knocked unconscious or that she was still barely conscious after being punched by Niki.
