Saving Charlie is a book about the relationship between Hiro Nakamura and Charlie Andrews. It is written by Aury Wallington, with story by Jeph Loeb, based on the series Heroes created by Tim Kring.

Published by Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, Saving Charlie tells the tale briefly seen in Six Months Ago about the characters Hiro Nakamura and Charlie Andrews, and how their relationship was created and evolved. It is 256 pages long, and was released on December 26, 2007, with a cover price of $23.95. The novel was written with the full cooperation and consultation of the show's creators.
Plot
After watching the gruesome murder of Charlie Andrews in the Burnt Toast Cafe, Hiro Nakamura tells his friend, Ando Masahashi, that he will travel back in time to the day before, and warn her of the man that killed her. However, he accidentally time travels six months into the past on her birthday. Hiro must now convince Charlie of his amazing ability, and alter history to prevent her death.
Characters:
- Hiro Nakamura has ability to stop time and travel through time and space. He has yet to gain control of latter ability. He gets sidetracked from his mission to save the world and goes back in time six months to save Charlie.
- Charlene “Charlie” Andrews has an eidetic memory and is a waitress at the Burnt Toast Diner. She plans to one day travel around the world.
- Lloyd is a cop who regularly comes to the Burnt Toast Diner. He and Charlie have dated in the past and he shows feelings for her and bullies Hiro.
- Lynette is the manager of the Burnt Toast Diner.
- Mr. Roitz is the landlord of Hiro's apartment.
- PJ is an employee at a comic bookstore at the mall. Hiro can't talk to Ando without breaking the space time continuum, so he makes friends with PJ.
- Ando Masahashi is Hiro's best friend that works with him at Yamagato Industiries.
- Kaito Nakamura is Hiro's dad, the focus of many flashbacks. He and Hiro are very different and usually avoid each other but Hiro finds they have more in common than he thinks.
- Kimiko Nakamura is Hiro's sister who also appears in flashbacks.
- Brain Man usually refered to as Sylar a serial killer that takes people's abilities by cutting their head open.
Trivia
- At the 2007 San Diego International Comic-Con, representatives from Del Rey asked fans to help make 1,000 origami cranes at their booth by the end of the show; the goal was surpassed.
