I just thought it was an appropriate way to link to the right guy, but to have it appear incorrect, sort of mirroring the way that Sabine thought it was one guy but it was really another.   • Sure! (And I can't wait for the interview--good score!) I use FreeConferenceCall. It's a completely free service you can sign up for, no strings attached. After you sign up, you'll get a phone number. It's based in America, but I believe you can use a calling card or even just dial the number, albeit with extra prefix numbers. I'm not sure about calling from England (that's where you are, right?), but I know Jason Badower used the service in Australia with minimal problems. Anyway, when you sign up for the service, you get a phone number. It's not a toll free number, so it's considered a long distance call...but I have free long distance at home and it doesn't cost anything to call long distance on my cell phone either, so it wasn't an issue for me. But you work out a time that you and Javier both call the number. You'll also have to give Javier the access number. There's other minor stuff you'll have to do once you get the phone number, like dial a passcode, an access number, and a code to start recording, but it's pretty user-friendly. If you'd like, you and I can do a practice call. Email me at ryangibsonstewart at heroeswiki dot com, and I'd be more than willing to do a run through with you.       • I think that's three yeses. And afterwards, you can either listen to the recording by calling in or download it as a .wav file. I recommend downloading it and playing it back in an audio editor such as Audacity (which is free). Some of the recording may not be clear and so it may take you listening to it a few times to understand it when transcribing. Also, most audio editors let you select a small portion of the file for repeated playback.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:48, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
        • Yeah, very easy. (Thanks for the good advice, Miami.) You don't have to use your cell phone, though--any phone will do. And not that you need it for this interview, but you can actually have a whole bunch of people on the line at a time. Also, you do have to tell the system (using a code) to record the conversation--it doesn't do it automatically. But the whole thing is very user-friendly--start an account and go from there. Spelling

  • Congratulations! ... Yeah, thinking of enough content for the interview is the trouble with interviewing actors who play smalller roles. But getting the actors who play bigger roles is sometimes challenging because they're not as available. *sigh* One idea I had for later on after the summer is to email a few questions to lots of the actors who play minor roles (I have had email exchanges with somewhere between 20 and 40, I think) and see what they have to say, and then compiling all their responses in one interview. It would eliminate the need to come up with enough questions to fill an interview (without sounding like I'm stretching), and it would be an interesting read because it would have lots of different perspectives. Hi Ryan, do you have the contact info. for the maintainer of the kilohoku.com transcripts? The domain registration expired, so now the website is unaccessible. We're having a discussion regarding "posthuman" vs. "evolved human" on Talk:List of evolved humans, where it would be helpful to have access to the transcripts.   • I've searched the transcripts for Seasons One and Two. The word "posthuman" was never used, nor was the term "evolved human", though Mohinder talks extensively about humans and evolution together (Genesis). Assignment tracker files use the term "posthuman", but also refer to "evolutionary anomaly class". I think this is a case of two near canon sources both using similar terms. Neither is ranked above the other, and one does not negate the other. There is no reason the two can't coexist. Squishing Images

In response to your recent changes note about squishing images, I thought that all images had to adhere to the standard image sizes given? I presume that's what HiroDynoSlayer thought as well when he uploaded it... -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 15:23, 12 August 2008 (EDT)

  • The standard size for image files only applies mainly to images being used in portals and infoboxes. If we can make images in galleries also match that size, that's terrific--but we should never do so at the expense of the quality of the image. I can't remember where I originally found the information about Manon Dave, but I usually archive my research a little bit on the talk pages. It appears that all the websites I found do indeed appear to be user-contributed websites.   • Congratulations! I use freeconferencecall.com. I used it when I interviewed Jason Badower, so I know it can be accessed from outside the United States. It costs whatever it costs you to call a long distance number to the U.S., and it would cost Jimmy the same. It's a really easy service to use, very user-friendly, and you can download a digital file of the conversation when you're done. The most difficult part is transcribing the interview in the end--what a pain! I suggest testing it out first... Evs Dropper's Blog

Well, I *was* working on the page, but you beat me to saving a first draft, so I'll let you finish before I make changes. I think the name should be Blog, not blog, cause the page itself uses "Blog" capitalized for the title so it's a proper name. I also think Image:Evsdropr's Blog.jpg should be in the infobox and Image:Evs Dropper's blog.jpg be in the gallery with a note about the UPC translation of the barcode.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:54, 21 August 2008 (EDT)

  • Oh, sorry if I stepped on any toes--it was a pretty easy article to write since it's mostly just copying and pasting blog entries. Hiro's blog is listed with a capital B also, but that doesn't mean that we capitalize it. "Blog" is not a proper name, so it doesn't fit the naming conventions for article names. I don't really care what image is used for the infobox, I just personally can't stand the screenshots of the entire website page and avoid them if I can...but that's just me. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:01, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
    • According to Help:Style, titles of works should be capitalized as by their authors when the capitalization differs from the standard rules. That's what I was going by, and would also apply to Hiro's Blog assuming we are considering the Evolution websites as "works". I personally prefer the entire website page screenshot for this article, as the page doesn't appear to have one main logo. However, if we're going to use an icon for the blog, wouldn't it be better to use the question mark symbol that represents Evsdropr (see here for a big image of it)?--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:26, 21 August 2008 (EDT)

DO you know the people at www.the-owi.com and www.herosite.net? the-owi has got interviews with Tim Kring, Matthew John Armstrong and Malcolm McDowell, all of who I would like to do interviews with. www.herosite.net has got Christopher Eccleston and Missy Peregrym who I would also like to do interviews with.   • Yes, I know them both. Dave at the OWI often scores some great interviews, though he doesn't get a whole lot of traffic. That's one of the reasons we published his interview with Tim Kring at Heroes Wiki. Craig at herosite has a lot of really good inside connections--he actually helped design 9thwonders.com. I wouldn't feel comfortable pimping them for contact information, though, as that's just not something I feel comfortable doing. Also, a lot of those interviews are really terrific, and I'd be afraid of treading on territory that's already been trod. I mean, multiple interviews are fine for some actors, but I'd just be careful about targeting people simply because other people have already interviewed them. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 13:18, 23 August 2008 (EDT)

  • Right--though it doesn't matter too much if we have extra pictures, the portraits on the article page should probably just be for those who have pictures in their tips on the actual map. My back ups would be Sendhil Ramamurthy, Greg Grunberg and I know its a bit of a push but Malcolm McDowell. LS's are Christine, Zachary and Tim and his backups are Jack Coleman,Brea Grant, and David Anders. LS has gone for the night but when he's back we need to decide who will go first then we will be on our way for our first NBC organised interview.
