Primatech's Character Pages

I dunno what to call them. Anyway, I was noticing for the characters that have a page (or are mentioned) in Primatech's online Assignment Tracker 2.0 (is that what it's called?) they have this statistic (which I found interesting/informative) about percent control over the power(s). Is that worth mentioning on the character and/or powers pages? And if so, what section would it go in? --SpellingBee~Talk to me!~~Contribs~ 14:32, 30 April 2008 (EDT) P.S. - I sent a Facebook friend request.

  • Okay, check out the abilities sections on each of the seven characters' pages (for instance, Donna Dunlap#Evolved Human Abilities). Let me know what you think. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:17, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
    • The part about the % control is great. My problem with the numbers about biological/cerebral/elemental/temporal-spatial is that those #s have no meaning. Maybe including or linking to an explanation of the significance of the number would help? --SpellingBee~Talk to me!~~Contribs~ 19:07, 1 May 2008 (EDT)
      • But do we know what those numbers mean? I mean, we can guess, but we ultimately don't really know anything about those numbers other than the subjects they're linked to (biological, cerebral). To list anything more would be speculative. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:39, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
        • Maybe the best solution is to leave off those numbers, and just keep the percent control number, which actually does make sense as a statistic without requiring guessing the meaning/significance of a number? --SpellingBee~Talk to me!~~Contribs~ 23:14, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
          • I don't think there's any harm in reporting the numbers--that way they can be left open for interpretation. Just because we don't know what they mean doesn't mean we don't need to include them at all. It just means we shouldn't presume their significance. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:17, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

Did you go to Albania as part of a Mormon mission, or was it for fun, or what inspired that? I'm just curious. --SpellingBee~Talk to me!~~Contribs~ 23:00, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

  • When I was 19, I applied to go on a two-year mission, as most Mormon boys do. I was assigned to go to Albania. I learned a bit of the language in the Mission Training Center in Provo, UT, two months prior to going on my mission. The rest of my language acquisition was learned by writing down new words, keeping a dictionary handy, and asking a million questions. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:18, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

Evsdropr's messages

He actually posted with "hhttp", should we just leave it? Therequiembellishere 19:21, 1 May 2008 (EDT)

  • Oddly enough, I didn't get that email. Go figure. Let's preserve the double h, but make the link work. I'll take care of it now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:21, 1 May 2008 (EDT)

need some article deleted without an AFD

User:SacValleyDweller/list of GN's by artist and User:SacValleyDweller/list of GN's by colorist wound up being bears to load. I wanted to have them be promoted to the mainspace or somwhere else for use, but their unwieldiness outweighs their utility, and I have a page now that is more usefully for what I need it for. I want those two pages deleted, but cant put the AFD on them. could you delete them for me?--SacValleyDweller (talk) 18:40, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Hall interview?

Any progress on the transcription?--SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:23, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

  • I've gotten very backlogged with life. Baldbobbo and MiamiVolts are being extrememly gracious in helping me out with the transcription. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:31, 9 May 2008 (EDT)
    • Progress report? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:21, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
      • I've got just a little done, but that's progress since it's a long interview. Editing is going slowly.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:34, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
        • Progress?--SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:43, 21 May 2008 (EDT)
          • Thanks for being so patient, SVD. I actually just emailed Bob and Miami about it, and they're still working on it. It's no easy process! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:43, 21 May 2008 (EDT)
            • Progress? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 19:47, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
              • Little do you know, he's fully finished it. But he hasn't posted it due to the absolute joy he gains in making you wait. :] -- Lulu (talk) 20:18, 26 May 2008 (EDT)

patrol some backlogs?

Got some more backlogs and stuff I dont wanna touch needing patrolling, would you catch that for me? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 18:59, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

on Gramar and gerunds...

Last I checked, the word "melting" in "Melting wrenches sure is fun!" isn't functioning as a noun in that sentence. The word there is being used as a verb in some fashion. To say "The melting of Dale's best wrench was a tragedy." would be using "melting" as a noun.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:26, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

  • Yes, that's a much better example of a gerund. Remember, I'm only a second grade teacher! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:34, 7 May 2008 (EDT)
  • This is my favorite section heading on the entire wiki.--Hardvice (talk) 18:40, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

Did you already send the reply you were going to send when you got home?--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:30, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

  • No. I'm actually on my way out with my son for swimming lessons. Be back around 8 or 8:30! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:33, 7 May 2008 (EDT)

Season 3 Trailer

Hey - I just wanted to let you know that a teaser trailer for Season 3: Villains has been released on I don't know where to put the link (maybe on the Main Page under News?) so I'll give the URL to you and let you decide. "|widget|NBC%20Video&__source=nbc|widget|NBC%20Video#mea=248965" -Dan

Woah! spoiler cast and crew?

Should I start staying away from here more with the spoilers about cast and crew and ep titles popping up lately? I mean, the following have already perforated my filters: (highlight to read ->) Joy has Super speed, Knox has metal mimicry (learned in Jan, but still), and Ep One of Us, One of Them from the latest crew member added (thank goodness that's all that has stuck!) Jeezzalou! --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:18, 10 May 2008 (EDT)

  • Most spoiler articles say "Spoiler" in the title. One really good way to avoid spoilers in the recent changes is to filter out spoiler articles. On special:recentchanges, go to the namespace dropdown box and choose "Spoiler". Then click the box that says "Invert selection". Click "Go", and you will see all recent changes that are not in the Spoiler namespace. Or more easily, you can click this link and it will do the same thing. In fact, I would just bookmark that link so you don't accidentally see anything you don't want to on the recent changes page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:49, 10 May 2008 (EDT)
    • Out of curiosity, how did you find out about Joy? I thought all that info really was on spoiler pages? As for the new director, with the (relatively) new DPL template EpisodesCreated, I didn't realize that it would automatically start printing episode titles on that page. I suppose we could pretty easily move even crew member pages to the spoiler namespace, just to be on the safe side. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:56, 10 May 2008 (EDT)
      • I learned of her a few days ago from a mainspace page was made about her and some changes were made on Enhanced speed that were promptly reverted with something to the effect of "no spoilers allowed here." Simple inference lead me to put the two together. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 15:20, 10 May 2008 (EDT)
      • on the subject of moving new crew to spoiler space, not necessary with the spoiler free recent changes.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:45, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

Station (disambig)

Do you think "station" would be a good disambig? The police stations, fire stations, train stations and bus station come to mind...--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:45, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

  • Yeah, I thought if that after revamping train (disambig). Would you like to do it, or would you like me to take care of it? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:00, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
    • If you can, please take care of it. I'm going to add a gallery to Primatech Research, and then check and post the results of the upfronts before calling it a night.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:03, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
      • Sure thing. .... "Upfronts"? What's that? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:09, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
        • Where/when the Networks announce their schedules for the fall season. See here for related discussion.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:21, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

Happy Birthday

  • Happy Birthday, Ryan. :) (Admin 00:00, 23 May 2008 (EDT))
    • Thanks, that's very kind. The way things are going right now, it might be my new son's birthday, too! (Contractions are three minutes apart and getting closer...) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:04, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
      • That'd be great. :) I know when my mom was pregnant with my brother she was hoping he'd come on her birthday, but he ended up coming 2 days later. Good luck! :) (Admin 00:07, 23 May 2008 (EDT))
        • Thanks, Admin. I'll keep y'all updated... :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:08, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
          • 3 mins apart... are you online at the hospital or something?! :) (Admin 00:09, 23 May 2008 (EDT))
            • No, I'm at home and Ruth is upstairs taking a bath trying to relax herself. We're waiting for 2 minutes apart to go to the hospital. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:13, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
              • Congrats in advance, then! If you're still waiting, you might want to make sure you have the car keys ready and enough gas. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:20, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
  • Hey, have a good one buddy, and tell your wife good luck. All the best!--Bob (talk) 06:03, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
    • Thanks guys! No baby yet, but it's imminent! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:16, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
      • Abandon ship! Happy birthday. Happy birthday Ryan, Jr. as well. --DocM 08:21, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
        • Thanks, Doc! No baby yet--my wife is pretty insistent on not giving birth to Oscar on my birthday. Go figure! ... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:39, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
          • Maybe it's Oscar that's being insistent on not wanting to have to share his birthday with you. Happy Birthday, Ryan.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:56, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
            • Sounds like I might be having a kid who can't share, eh? Oh boy oh boy! :) Thanks Miami! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:58, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
  • Happy belated man! hows ur kid doing?? If u or Miami ever need any help with any heroes wiki stuff i'd love to help or just to have something to do. For now, i'm trying to keep the spoilers page updated.

- Ciao 4 now Shoyru1177

  • Thanks, Shoyru! My son still hasn't been born. *grumble* If you ever want to help out with anything, feel free. You can always check the checklist of the latest graphic novel checklist, work on some red links, expand some stubs, or just pick a random page and make sure everything on it is correct! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:57, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Do you think Mark Sable's colorblindness is okay to use as trivia in his article?--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:51, 26 May 2008 (EDT)

  • Let me ask him if he's really colorblind, or if he was saying it facetiously. (By the way, the word "facetiously" is one the few English words that has all the vowels in alphabetical order.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:48, 26 May 2008 (EDT)
    • Well, now that we know the extent of it, is it trivia-worthy?--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:04, 2 June 2008 (EDT)

Precision spoiler/heads up request

I'm planing on sending Gaydos an Email complimenting him on his Heroes work. I think it would have the best impact IF I sent it after one of his GNs is released. Could you give me a heads up when one of his gets in the pipeline so that I can have it ready to send come that time? Thanks! --SacValleyDweller (talk) 21:01, 26 May 2008 (EDT)

  • No idea. I've tried to contact Gaydos for a long time now, and I've never had any success. Let me know if you fare any better. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:08, 26 May 2008 (EDT)

ey this is my new account

I use to be rbfskywalker but it woulsn't let me log on. I was wondering in you could give me the contact details of Mark Sable as in the interview it said bridge the gap between sries 1 and 2 and did he mean 2 and 3. Thanks.

  • Hey, RBF. I don't want to give out Mark's contact info, but yeah, I think he made a mistake. I'll double check when I send the next set of questions. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:29, 28 May 2008 (EDT)

Hi Ryan, do you have an email address? I ask because I was scouring Facebook for interviewees and have come across some cool 'Heroes' faces that you could get in contact with. I understand if you don't want to give your email address out publicly, though. :) Thanks,--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  03:30, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Character Infobox

Hey Ryan, I don't know if you're in charge of this but you seem like the guy to go to. Anyway, I thought, in the character infobox we should have a section with 'current status' or something, which tells the viewer if the character is alive or deceased, 'cos at the moment it's not entirely obvious looking at a character page, and you may have to scroll down the whole page to find out if/when they died. What do you think? (Friskymuffin - (talk) 08:56, 30 May 2008 (EDT))

  • Well, we have a spot in the infobox to tell when they died. If they're confirmed dead, they are also put into Category:Deceased Characters. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to have "Status: Alive" for the other 200 characters. The way I think of it, if they're not dead, they're alive, or their status is unknown (and I would hate for a bunch of speculation about the status of people like Nathan and Niki). Bottom line, if you're asking my opinion, I think the "Date of death" line on the character box is sufficient as a status. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:01, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
    • Yeah that's true, I hadn't considered the speculation issue over Nathan/Niki, and it would take alot of editing :P thanks for the input anyway :) (Friskymuffin - (talk) 09:05, 30 May 2008 (EDT))
      • No problem. Keep up the good ideas and all the editing you've been up to. You're doing a great job! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:16, 30 May 2008 (EDT)
