Ian Quinn

  • Are you sure it's a different actor? When I watched the unaired pilot I thought it was him, too. (Admin 14:54, 1 September 2007 (EDT))

Ryan Email Contact

Ryan, do you have an email contact offsite? I want to send you something I put together for doing Heroes research that I think you will find useful, but it isn't something that really is appropriate or fitting for the Wiki itself. I can explain in more detail offline if you can tell me how to contact you. You can email me at HiroDynoSlayer@ Y~~A^H**O-O.c o m. (ignore the special chars to advert email-bots) --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/4/2007 11:12 (EST)

To do pics

Check these out, see if they give you what you're looking for on the sylar/company gun Isaac request. http://www.heroes-pictures.com/displayimage.php?album=39&pos=502 http://www.heroes-pictures.com/displayimage.php?album=39&pos=503 --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/4/2007 16:25 (EST)

  • They would work, but they're sort of the before and after pictures, and I'm hoping to grab something that actually shows it moving. I just have to sit down and go through the DVD, and I'm just being lazy, or at least being preoccupied with other things. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:38, 4 September 2007 (EDT)

End of the World

I see what you mean about the new page I made. Yes it is my first wiki ever, i know i know, but it never hurts to learn right?

for now, the page is just starting off. I plan on encompassing many of the popular RPGs on the site as well, not just EotW (or really Lost Volumes as it is really called). The page itself is just a work in progress and I do plan to work with the other RPers of the RPG section on 9thwonders to get some more content that is actually worth something. For now, it doesn't look like much, but as I said, i plan on changing that.

For now, the page is just one page for EotW. I plan on making it into one consolidated page for the other RPGs as well, just so we can convey what we really want to a little better.

Anyways, I hope that you can give us a little more time with the page to get it up to par. For now, it's not much, but as I learn I hope to make it a lil better.

Anyways, thanks for the heads up!--Requiem191 (talk) 22:46, 4 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Well, no offense for trying, but here we avoid pages for fan sites and RPG's. --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 23:05, 4 September 2007 (EDT)
    • Not quite, we do have a page called 'Links' in which we list various Heroes-based fan sites, interviews and related videos. I don't see anything wrong with adding a page for related RPGs, but I do think the page needs to moved to Requiem191's subpage until it is polished and for lack of a better phrase, more complete.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:19, 4 September 2007 (EDT)
    • Yeah, we don't create articles for other unofficial sites ususally, but RPGs are a different (and somewhat new) story (no pun intended). I'd like to see what kind of information we can collect for RPGs. At the very least they generate an alternate storyline that might lend itself to being documented well. But as MiamiVolts said, it just needs to remain a a subpage for now. (Admin 23:34, 4 September 2007 (EDT))

New Page Help

  • I was just thinking about questions to ask Jason Badower and I thought we could make a page about connections between powers and personalities. Do you think that is a good idea? An example: D.L. is in jail and he has to escape, so what does he get? Phasing! Matt, just happens to read minds and he's a cop, which is a very good thing. Jessica is extremely violent and she is super strong. Hiro, has a boring job as an office worker, and gets the power to stop time. Do you see what I'm sort of going at? Anyway, I just thought of it. I'd have to think of more to add to the page than just what I just mentioned. Jason Garrick 21:22, 6 September 2007 (EDT)
    • Yeah, I know exactly what you're getting at. It's one of the very cool things about Heroes, and Tim Kring has said that over and over again, that the characters define the powers, and not vice versa. Claire is a teenager, and like many teenagers, she believes she's invincible. Candice hates her life, and her power is to create new illusions. Linderman is a medic in the army, and he can heal people instantly. Great stuff. I think it'd be best suited as a user subpage, something like "User:Jason Garrick/Powers". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:34, 6 September 2007 (EDT)

Red links?

Do we have a page that lists all the pages with Redlinks? --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/8/2007 23:09 (EST)

  • That would be a special page. Special:Wantedpages is probably closest to what you want, but you can check Special:Specialpages to view the others available. Special:Wantedpages has a link called # link(s) for each of the red links listed. You can click on those links to see a listing of what pages link to that red link. However, there is no one page that lists all the articles with redlinks on them.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:22, 8 September 2007 (EDT)

Sanjog Iyer/Iyer Sanjog

The kid that shows up in mohinder's dreams and later on the street is named "Iyer Sanjog" not "Sanjog Iyer." When Mohinder finds the file in his dad's office, it's labeled "Sanjog, Iyer": "last, first" -- like medical files are usually organized. (I just watched this episode yesterday; I haven't been thinking about this for months on end.)

It's wrong at IMDB also (which I know you have no control over); I would fix it here but there's links involved and I don't want to goof up the whole thing.

It's not a huge deal, I know, but I feel if there's an opportunity to be accurate vs. not, we may as well try to make it right...

  • I know, it's really confusing. Here's my best explanation. The folder says "Sanjog, Iyer", but all other references to him are as "Sanjog Iyer". Check out this note for more information]]. IMDb credits him that way because that's the way he's listed during the end credits. Mohinder calls him "Sanjog Iyer", and that's good enough for me. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:42, 9 September 2007 (EDT)

3 Heroes

Hey, all. For those interested in hearing me blabber on, check out the latest 3 Heroes podcast. Emily and I ostensibly talk about the DVD, but we get sidetracked by Power Rangers, "Huggy Bear", and Little Women. Ignore my rambling, mic problems, and completely boring tirades. :) Here's the direct link. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:49, 9 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Regarding the link to Odagawa's 3 Heroes Podcast interview in pdf, it's giving me a corrupted file that can't be opened when I download it. Can you check it out?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:05, 10 September 2007 (EDT)
    • I'll email Paul about it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:07, 10 September 2007 (EDT)
      • By the way, it was working for me when I read it yesterday, but now it's corrupted for me too. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:11, 10 September 2007 (EDT)
        • Ok, thanx. BTW, did you check as to whether the Heroes Interactive is on the DVD? I just listened to the above 3 Heroes Podcast with you and Emily, and you both did a good job filling in the minutes with trivia :), but neither of you mentioned it. I think I might check out that Devil's Advocate podcast Emily mentioned... did you look into it yet?--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:23, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
          • There's no HI on the DVD. Yeah, I checked out Devil's Advocate. Very entertaining. But I'm not podcast expert, I just enjoy hearing people talk, to be honest. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:37, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
  • Listened to the podcast. Very nice. Sorry to hear about your Amazon problems. Even with the plain super saver shipping I got my DVD the day after it was out in the stores. ...and you'd love to be Bea Arthur, eh?
Lady Godiva was a freedom rider,
she didn't care of the whole world looked.
Joan of Arc, with the Lord to guide her,
she was a sister who really cooked.
Isadora was a first bra burner
Aint' ya glad she showed up?
And when the country was falling apart
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up
And then there's Ryan!

Hopefully you'll get that. :) (Admin 01:26, 11 September 2007 (EDT))

  • Yeah, got it. Cute....Bea Arthur in her Mame days is ideal over her Golden Girls days, but I'll take either! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:37, 11 September 2007 (EDT)

Interview

  • Do you think you'd be interested in trying to arrange an interview with Zachary Quinto? He's such a popular actor that it'd be great if we could interview him, though I suspect it'll be like the James Kyson Lee interview where you have to go through his agent. I'd interview him myself to save you the trouble, but honestly I think you're doing a much better job than I would do. If you're interested in pursuing an interview with him, I'd wait until after we see him in Season Two because I think he's been interviewed to death already and there won't be many original questions to ask him until after we see him again in the next season. (Admin 01:56, 12 September 2007 (EDT))
    • We're on the same page, Admin. I have his contact information, but I've been holding off contacting him for the reason you stated above, and also because my life is getting a little busy with work starting again. There's only so many ways a guy can say "You'll have to wait until September 24" before it becomes too redundant--I agree, I'd rather wait until after the season is over (at least until sufficient time has passed) to contact him. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:47, 12 September 2007 (EDT)

Jason Badower and Mark Sable interview

  • Did you get a chance to announce the interview over at 9th Wonders yet? I didn't come across it yet, but I didn't want to duplicate it if you had already mentioned it there. :) (Admin 12:42, 14 September 2007 (EDT))
    • Funny: no, I haven't announced it there yet. I was going to head on over and do it in about five minutes. GMTA. But there are a few different threads that talk about Blackout. It might be a good idea if I announce it on one or two threads and you announce it in a spot I haven't. (I'm all about maximum exposure.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:09, 14 September 2007 (EDT)

Rejoining the living

I finally replaced my laptop today. Mind catching me up on the major goings-on of my semi-absence? Anything dreadfully important change that I should know about?--Hardvice (talk) 23:47, 19 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Yeah, the wiki's not about Heroes anymore; instead it's about American Idol. We just haven't gotten around to updating the logos yet. Didn't you get the memo? Ryan's been conducting a bunch of Heroes Wiki interviews, but you probably saw them already. It's been a great way to introduce some original content here in addition to all the show documentation. There's also a wiki for Bionic Woman that I setup in case you get interested in the new series. Also Ryan co-hosted a 3 Heroes podcast just recently. Otherwise I think things aren't too different. By the way, glad to see your laptop got replaced in time for the new season. What a coincidence... or is it? :) (Admin 00:46, 20 September 2007 (EDT))
    • I think I was getting to be unbearable with the new season approaching, so my partner took mercy and gave me his old work computer.--Hardvice (talk) 01:58, 20 September 2007 (EDT)
      • So glad you're back. The other thing comes to mind is the stuff from BBC Two, of which I think you're already aware. Check out Bridget Bailey, Mohinder's office, and Heroes Unmasked. We also did some Season One archiving, which you've probably seen--Noah Bennet#Season One vs. Noah Bennet/Season One. There's also Portal:Characters vs. Portal Characters/Season One. I don't know it's the best way to archive, but it's what we kind of agreed upon, and it's working pretty nicely, I think. Other than that, we're still strangely continuing our largely vandal-free ways here...Tell your partner that I said thanks. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:25, 20 September 2007 (EDT)

Thank you

Thank you for your nice message, it really pleased to me.
However you are wrong in one of your sentences, because i'm all alone to do that work !! :'(
So if you know french people who are bored, you can send them to me ! lol
Thank you again, Desperate July 05:21, 22 September 2007 (EDT)

{ catsort

There are a lot of characters that are now sorted under { in both Category:Humans and Category:Evolved Humans. Does this have anything to do with the changes you made to Template:Character box? Or is there another problem? -Lөvөl 03:04, 26 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Yes. I forgot to think about defaultsorting characters with nothing listed under sortname. It should be fine now (clear your cache before checking). Please let me know if you see a problem like that again. Thanks, Level! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:08, 26 September 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for correcting my post =)

Was my first ever post, and was so glad that I found something I could add, so I guess I was a bit nervous =)

Anyway, thanks again. --Shaene 08:08, 26 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Absolutely! No need to be nervous, I believe I've probably made more mistakes than anyone else around here. :) Glad to have you on board, and I'm glad you found some stuff you could add--it wasn't until my third time watching that I noticed Nathan bump into Ando. It actually makes me wonder if he has anything to do with the death notices, since he was around when both of them were placed... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:25, 26 September 2007 (EDT)

supporting vs recurring

  • Do you know the current criteria being used to distinguish supporting characters from recurring characters? Principal should be easy since they're listed first in the credits. From there what is being used to distinguish between supporting and recurring? Thanks. (Admin 17:35, 26 September 2007 (EDT))
    • Golly, it's really arbitrary, Admin. I mean, some are a bit easier based on spoilers. For instance, I would put Detective Fuller as recurring, but Bob as supporting. I was going to get to that later tonight, but I'm thinking that maybe we should have a discussion first. I'll draw something up in a few minutes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:26, 26 September 2007 (EDT)
      • Ok. I was trying to categorize some of the season two actors earlier today and while the principals were easy I couldn't really figure out what distinguished the supporting from recurring. Is there even a reason to distinguish between them if it's arbitrary? (Admin 20:33, 26 September 2007 (EDT))
        • When I made the original portal, I stuck anyone who had a close connection to the principal cast (sidekicks, family members, etc.), or who had their own story, in supporting, anybody who recurred more than a few times in recurring, and everybody else in guest cast/minor characters.--Hardvice (talk) 20:39, 26 September 2007 (EDT)
          • That's good info. It's not as arbitrary as I made it out to be. The way I understand it, there are some basic guidelines. In general, any non-main character who appears in a large number of episodes (say, 8 or more) is considered supporting. After that, characters who appear in a smaller number of episodes (between about 3 and 8) are recurring. Anybody who is only in one or two episodes is generally a guest. It's also on somewhat of a case-by-case basis. But Admin, if you're asking whether or not we should put everybody who's not a guest or principal actor into a category like just "Recurring Cast" or "Supporting Cast", then I'm not opposed to it. Making one intermediate category would make things a lot easier. However, we've already made a distinction for Season One, so whatever we do, it should be uniform with both seasons. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:42, 26 September 2007 (EDT)

4ML updates

If we get a chance today, we ought to go through the pages that have been checked off on Episode Talk:Four Months Later. I'm noticing a lot of language and formatting problems in some of the summaries, and I'm worried we'll miss some unless we're careful.--Hardvice (talk) 06:49, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

  • That's a good idea--there's a lot to catch up on. I'm working until 6 pm tonight, and I should have some time afterwards. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:15, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

Artwork navbar

  • Do you remember if there was a reason we didn't create a navbar for Artwork? Was it just because most of them already had the Isaac series bar, or was there another reason? I can't for the life of me recall, but now that we have artwork from Peter, Sylar, and Molly, I think it's probably time we made one, unless we had some good reason not to do so.--Hardvice (talk) 14:22, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
    • I was just thinking about the same thing--yeah, that's the reason, IIRC. I wouldn't mind converting the Isaac bar into a general artwork bar, or at least creating a general artwork bar that links to Isaac's stuff. But yes, we should definitely do something. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:24, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
      • I'll put together an artwork navbar. We can then decide if we want to keep the Isaac bar, too (some of it isn't artwork), or axe it.--Hardvice (talk) 14:38, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

Patrolling

So in the time that I've been working and doing class projects, the unpatrolled page got HUGE. So I knocked out the 25th and the 26th. Off to work in a bit!--Bob 17:08, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Thanks, Bob. It tends to get that way, especially after a "big" episode. I try to patrol as I go along, but I also find myself just skipping around a lot in the first few days after an episode, and not checking the RCs as often. I usually try to play catch up on the weekend. With 5 active patrollers, I think we should stay on top of things, even if it takes a week to get there. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:21, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

thx for correction re: bob

I just figured that out, and I was about to fix it! :) Dean 21:57, 27 September 2007 (EST)

  • Yeah, no problem...though I wouldn't be too opposed to putting "amazingly talented character actor" as his power. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:58, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
