Summary
As West flies above Costa Verde, CA all night, he revels in his ability and his uniqueness. He breaks down the differences of each level of the atmosphere--including temperature, feel, and smell--and explains how to coexist with airplane traffic. He philosophizes on his breakdown of people into two categories: robots and aliens, the former operating on conventional logic and the latter being abstract thinkers. Back at his school, he sees Claire, and feels compelled to get to know her.
Trivia
- The novel starts as usual with a blurb of the plot. In it there's a typo, calling Claire accidentally Clare.
