Zachary Quinto is the American film and television actor who portrays Sylar. He also portrayed Candice Willmer in an illusion in the episode Kindred, and a shape shifted James Martin in the episode Into Asylum.

About

Zachary Quinto has been acting since the age of 11. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1995 and Carnegie Mellon University in 1999, Zachary Quinto has appeared in a number of hit prime-time television shows, including CSI, Charmed, Tim Kring's Crossing Jordan, and Six Feet Under. He had a recurring role as Adam Kaufman on 24, and appeared as "Sasan" in VH1's So NoTORIous. Zachary played "Spock" in the 2009 Star Trek film, made at the same time as he was working on Heroes. Zachary later starred in Star Trek's sequel and video games, as well.

Following his success on Heroes, Zachary worked on films such as Margin Call, Girl Walks Into a Bar, What's Your Number?, and Dog Eat Dog. He also had an important starring role on American Horror Story.

Notes

  • Zachary Quinto began his work on Heroes as a guest star in Seven Minutes to Midnight. Twenty-four episodes later (of which Zachary appeared in fifteen), he was promoted to be a series regular with the airing of Kindred.
  • In an interview, Zachary Quinto said his dream acting role would be "to play a young Spock in the new Star Trek movie." He later did.
  • In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Zachary Quinto compared himself to Sylar: "I would say we both have a desire to be valued. My desire to be valued is manifested in cultivating relationships with my friends and family. Sylar's desire to be valued manifests itself...well, in a murderous rampage."
  • In an interview with TV Guide, Zachary Quinto said he was thrilled with his Internet Army. Sarmy is an online group which is dedicated to his character Sylar. He says, "Their slogan is, 'Every villain needs a legion of evil supporters.' What's funny is they do great charity work. It's never bad to have an army."
  • On September 14, 2008, Zachary appeared on Robot Chicken with Seth Green and Breckin Meyer, where he portrayed Sylar in a spoof of Heroes -- his scene involved Sylar mistakenly absorbing a man's "power" of thumb removal (actually a child's trick) but instead ends up with diarrhea.

  • Zach attended Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama.
  • Zachary Quinto is the only person to ever be featured on two consecutive Entertainment Weekly covers. He appeared as Sylar on the cover of issue #1018 (October 31, 2008), and as Spock on the cover of issue #1019 (November 7, 2008).
  • Zachary knows how to play the banjo.
  • Zachary Quinto has a Irish Wolfound Terrier mix named Noah who is four years old. He also has a black cat with a white chest named Harold, who is six years old.
  • Zachary lent his voice to 24: The Game, as his 24 character, Adam Kaufman.
  • Zachary was involved in a serious car accident when he was 16.
  • Zachary's television debut was in 2000 on the short-lived show, The Others. He was only featured in the pilot.
