About

Odessa

Carlos enters the church confessional to talk to the priest. He asks the priest what Oscar was involved in, and if it had anything to do with the El Vengador costume. The priest confirms this, and tells Carlos that after June 13th, Oscar set up an underground railroad for evolved humans to escape to Canada. In return for this information, the priest asks Carlos if he can send two evos through Oscar's passage, located underneath Oscar's garage. When Carlos asks why he cares about helping evos so much, the priest shows him his ability.

Graphic Novel:Vengeance, Part 3

Father Mauricio gives a sermon to the congregation of St. Francis. Elena and Jose Gutierrez are in attendance, but Oscar arrives late. After the sermon, Elena encourages Oscar to apologize to Mauricio for his lateness, so he does so. Oscar also tells Mauricio that he needs to tell him something in private, so he tells him to meet him at Gutierrez and Sons later.

Later, after Oscar and Mauricio successfully smuggle a group of evos through El Vengador's underground railroad, Oscar enters the confessional in St. Francis to update Mauricio on the evos' status. Mauricio tells Oscar that he has set up a network of people who share their cause. Before leaving, Oscar tells Mauricio to listen out for the name of a gang who may be helping El Diablo smuggle more evos into Los Angeles.

Notes

  • In The Lion's Den, Carlos says that Father Mauricio is from St. Francis. The name on the front of the church shown in Odessa is "St. Mary's Church". It is assumed that "St. Mary's" is the name of the real-life church that was used as a stand-in for exterior shots. Additionally, the eBook A Matter of Trust repeatedly refers to this church as "All Saints Church".
