Running in Circles
Edgar and his father attend a football match at Valley Parade in Bradford, England. While cheering on the game, a fire breaks out. Edgar's father tells Edgar to run as fast as he can, which he does. Edgar leaves his family behind to die in the fire.
Notes
- This disaster actually happens in real life. In May 11, 1985, two football teams namely Bradford City A.F.C. and Lincoln City F.C. are having a match in the Bradford City stadium. At 3:40 pm, five minutes before half-time, the first sign of a fire -- a glowing light —- is noticed three rows from the back of block G. It is believed the fire started when a spectator dropped either a match, cigarette or tobacco, which fell through holes in the stand to rubbish which had accumulated below.
- During the fire, the abscence of an extinguisher adds to the on-going chaos. A total of 56 spectators dies and more then 256 people are injured on the incident.
