In 2014, General Curren awards Carlos a medal for his heroic actions during the war. Dubious, Curren reviews the details of the situation and questions both Carlos and Farah Nazan about their actions. Carlos responds to General Curren's questions in front of a committee. Curren says that some of the events are not recorded and that Farah claims that he saved the troops. Carlos agrees with Farah.
Later, Carlos feels badly about this because he knows that he was not the one who should have received the medal. He believes Farah should have received it because she was the one who committed the act of bravery. However, they conspired to lie about Farah's heroics because she is an evo. Farah says that she held up her end of the deal and he needs to uphold his end. She is not discovered as an evo and he is not court-martialed.
