Synopsis
Maya learns Sylar's true nature when he kidnaps Molly and Mohinder.
While searching her father's office, Elle discovers a video surveillance feed showing Sylar in Mohinder's lab. She decides to stop him to impress Bob.
While Mohinder studies Sylar's blood , Molly uses her ability to help Maya find her brother, but he is "now where",implying that he is dead. When Maya confronts Sylar about Alejandro's death, he shoots her in the chest. Sylar has Mohinder test Claire's restorative blood by reviving Maya.
Nathan and Matt learn where the Shanti virus is from Angela Petrelli. She tells them that Adam can be killed by a headshot, and advises Parkman to kill Peter similarly if he supports Adam.
Adam and Peter enter Primatech Paper in Odessa in search of the virus. As they walk, Hiro stops time and talks to Peter, telling him that Adam killed his father and cannot be trusted. Peter does not believe him and knocks him out with a bolt of electricity. Adam takes his sword from the unconscious Hiro and walks on with Peter.
Peter and Adam fight their way through the Company's lower levels and when they reach their goal,Peter uses his ability to open the Company's vault. Upon doing so, he is confronted once more by Hiro. Peter flings Hiro against the wall telekinetically as Adam enters the vault. Matt enters and tries to use his telepathy to convince Peter to stop Adam, but Peter resists and starts pushing Matt back with telekinesis. Nathan talks to Peter and is able to convince him that Adam is trying to release the virus, not destroy it, and that Adam saved Nathan only to gain Peter's trust. In the vault, Hiro confronts Adam and teleports him away. But not before dropping the Virus Peter enters the vault just in time to telekinetically grab the virus before destroying it in his hands.
Bob confronts Noah, telling him that Claire is trying to reveal the Company, and asks if she has any hard evidence. Bennet does not respond, and Bob tells him that the Company will have to take drastic measures.
While Claire is packing up her father's files to destroy the Company, West arrives and tries to stop her from revealing his secret. Angered, she gives him his file, and tells him "there is no 'us' to worry about anymore." Afterward, Noah returns home, revealing to his family that he is still alive. He tells Claire not to expose the Company, and informs her that he has made a deal, and will again be working for them. In exchange, his family will be left alone to lead normal lives.
Monica is captured by a street gang, and Micah asks Niki for help. Despite the fact that Niki no longer has her powers due to the virus, she agrees to help. They follow a GPS signal emitted by Monica's cell phone to find her location at an abandoned warehouse. The member of the gang that kidnapped Monica has tied her up and intends to kill her by burning down the warehouse around her. Niki beats up the gang member and enters the burning warehouse. With Niki's help, Monica is able to escape from the building with Micah's backpack, but Niki is unable to escape herself. The building explodes with Niki still inside.
In Yamagato Industries, Ando walks back into his cubicle to find Hiro already there, he asks about Adam and Hiro replies by saying that Adam will no longer harm anybody.
Adam is then shown to be buried in an unmarked grave in Aoyama Cemetery, screaming to be let out.
As Maya returns to life, Elle enters the laboratory and attacks Sylar. He escapes, but takes the syringe with the cure with him. Elle is upset that she let Sylar get away, but Mohinder tells her that she saved their lives, and insists that she is a hero.
With Matt's assistance, Nathan calls a press meeting. He has decided to expose the nature of the various evolved humans and the Company. During his announcement, he is shot twice in the chest by an unknown assailant. Nathan falls into Peter's arms. Angela Petrelli watches a television news report about her son's attack as she speaks on the phone. She calmly and firmly states that she understands the reason for the attack on Nathan, but that the assassination attempt has "opened Pandora's box."
The close of Volume Two brings the beginning of Volume Three:Villains. Sylar, bloodied and burnt, sits in an alley, and injects himself with Claire's blood. He starts to regenerate immediately from his wounds, and struggles to move a can. After succeeding, Sylar exclaims, "I'm back."
