Carlos Gutierrez passes by a window with a TV in it and catches Charlie on the news telling the reporter that he approves of El Vengador.

In the eBook Brave New World, Charlie is held captive by two armed thugs in San Pedro Harbor, CA. Charlie has heavy chains wrapped around his ankles, ropes tied to his wrists, and he is attached to a large pulley that is dunking him in and out of a tank of rusty water. The thugs demand to know where the evos are, but Charlie insists he doesn't know anything, including where El Vengador's underground railroad leads. Despite being tortured, Charlie insists that he they just pay him to drive the truck, and that's it. The thugs are satisfied that Charlie doesn't have any more information, so they let go of the rope and leave him in the tank to drown. Just then, El Vengador grabs Charlie forcibly lifts him from the water. Charlie thanks the masked avenger, and watches him continue to intimidate the thugs.
