Feel free to check out a radical new fan fiction: Heroes: The Game. Each installment to the game is a "mission" for the player to complete. Visit the mission list to read the two missions that have already been written and released. Enjoy. --Radicell 04:47, 23 March 2010 (EDT) |

Hey everybody. Just wanted to mention that Ollie Grigsby is running a charity auction. He's offering several really cool Heroes memorabilia items: three signed comics, a signed pilot script, a signed Comic-Con exclusive DVD cover, a "Volume 2" t-shirt and more. Proceeds go towards Child's Play Charity, an organization which donates toys, books, and games to children's hospitals around the world. Check out the auction at this link. Also, check out Ollie's user page for more information. -- 23:27, 12 December 2007 (EST) |

== Visions of Earth needs help! == |
||
Hey everyone! So as most of you probaly know, I am writing a fan fiction called "Visions of Earth", currently I am needing some help with the administrative side of it. E.g. Updating character histories, abilities etc. So, I am looking for someone who is interested in helping me. There shouldn't be too much work to do considering only one episode has been released. So if anyone is interested, please respond on my talk page! Thank you! :) -- 19:04, 26 March 2010 (EDT) |

Entertainment Weekly just printed their year-end issue, including a list of the 25 top fansites on the web. Lostpedia was listed as number three. (Incidentally, Memory Alpha was number eleven and the Heroes site listed was heroescast, coming in at number thirteen.) Anyway, Lostpedia received accolades for their fanfic writing contest which is "a nifty, geeky way to pass the time and build community." Though I'm personally not into fan fiction, I think it'd be nice for us to brainstorm some ideas of ways we can build community at Heroes Wiki. Our logo contests in the past have been successful. Any ideas from the community? -- 00:27, 23 December 2007 (EST) |

* On a similar vein we could have a t-shirt design contest where at a minimum the winner would get a free t-shirt with the design on it. Depending on how things go with it, maybe all interested parties would get the free t-shirt. (Admin 19:19, 21 January 2008 (EST)) |

Ok, first off, Great wiki, but i would improve a few things. |

I was in NYC all day today, and at the end of the day I stopped by the NBC store and bought three things. The Symbol necklace, which I'm going to wear all the time, a shirt with the line Are you on the list?, which is pretty cool, and a mug with the comic of Hiro in Times Square. =]--Riddler 03:08, 29 December 2007 (EST) |

** Ahh! The comic on my mug is different than the real thing! In the show, they say "No one ever got laid by stopping the second hand of a clock." - On my mug, it says "No one ever got a girl by stopping the second hand of a clock." - DAMN CENSORS!--Riddler 22:57, 30 December 2007 (EST) |

About Claire |
|||
* Since the Comic-Con 2007 registration filled up early I took the precaution of registering early for Comic-Con 2008 so I should be there this year. If anyone else is interested in going I recommend registering early because they have a tendency to fill up quickly. Plus apparently hotels in the area fill up quickly and it was already difficult to find one nearby without having to pay both arms and both legs (it already costs an arm and a leg). As the conference gets closer I'd like to get a better idea who looks like they'll be going and I'd be happy to bring extra t-shirts for people who will be there. |||
== Message from Michael Green. == |
|||
In Season 3 episode 2, we see claire for a slit second drinking tea |
|||
Best question we've gotten in a while -- ready?: "How does this strike affect my fandom?" Which was explained to me as a roundabout (and genius) way of asking, "So what does this mean for Season 3 of Heroes? Are we gonna get one or what?" |
|||
In Season 3 episode 3, claire does this and this |
|||
Here's where there's some good news finally. Every single person associated with Heroes -- from the writers to the crew... even to the studio we're striking -- is chomping at the bit to get more episodes the second we're able. We all want to make 'em as badly as you want to watch 'em. So whenever this thing resolves itself (here's hoping soon) you can bet the team will hit the ground running. No -- more than that -- what's faster than a run? A sprint? Gallop? Whichever, we're gonna do that. |
|||
.... |
|||
Why can we not have a sweeping few paragraphs for the whole of volume 3 & 4 & 5 like we do for Season/Volume 1 & 2 rather than an episode by episode breakdown (which could be in its own article like "Claire Bennet: Season One History" and "Claire Bennet: Season Two History".)? |
|||
Other good news: Even the worst projections for the length of the strike have it ending at some point this season. Eventually the people who make decisions for the people who are negotiating for the studios are going to have to tell them to make the deals and compromises that everyone knows they need to and should make. So the question isn't "Will there be a Season 3?", more one of "How many episodes will Season 3 have?" |
|||
The answer to that one depends on when we can get back to work. Traditionally writing staffs assemble in late May/early June to get cracking in time to write a full season. So if the strike ends soon, our best guess is that we'd get jamming right away, starting on Season 3 that much earlier... maybe even ending up with a super-sized Season 3. If it's later, Season 3 could come in a few episodes shy of the traditional 22. |
|||
And finally my second idea. |
|||
Happy New Year to the BEST FANS EVER! |
|||
Maybe we could have some articles on "Character X & Character Y History" Documenting the relationship between two different characters in the show history, so when two characters who do not normally meet (like Ando and Noah) there could be one article to tell us the relation and previous meeting of these characters. |
|||
Michael Green |
|||
Writer, HEROES |
|||
This would need a LOT of new articles (~30 characters in Heros, meaning we would have 900 new articles) But when we are watching season 5 (hoping there will be a season 5) we can instantly track previous characters interactions even if they barely met before. |
|||
Calling it season not volume 3 now? In any case, a super-sized volume/season is a-ok with me. 02:28, 11 January 2008 (EST) |

*I agree that we don't need to duplicate/change the articles. I think the Relationship articles are okay as they are. I've grown to like having them as fan creations.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:28, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
** I'm also not a fan of adding 900 new articles that need to be maintained when we have a hard enough time maintaining the articles we already have in existence. So many of those silly relationship articles--which could serve the purposes stated above, despite being fan creation articles--are stubs, and are looong stubs, at that. Even the connections page could be beefed up, but that page really is rarely touched, so I'm afraid to see what would happen when we add 900 more pages like it. Ultimately, this would be a huge project, and one I'm not very excited about. If somebody would like to create it in their user space and then move it into the main namespace when it's all finished, that is something we can certainly discuss. However, I have a feeling that the massive size of this undertaking will prove overwhelming and not worth the effort. -- 16:37, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
***That's the thing though, if it were to be done, it be a waste of memory. The relationships already exist and use only canon information. If we created these articles, the only reason they'd be canon and not fan creations is the name. As soon as we slap a fan made name on anything it becomes a fan creation. --mc_hammark 16:45, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |

*This is my first time posting something here so please bear with me: I have a minor alteration request that I would like to run by the community and that is changing the character box on the right side where it says known ability to just ability because I find it a bit confusing for people we know have an ability, we just don't know what it is so none is posted, to me implying they don't have one. For the change if the character isn't an evolved human we put none and if he/she does but we don't know we put unknown Or, for example, Kaito's character bio we could put unk, see notes That's my two cents. -- Inblackestnight 23:57, 31 May 2010 (EDT) |

On a recent trip, I think I had a Saving Charlie moment (experience?). I had breakfast at a breakfast and lunch diner as the motel I stayed at was giving out coupons for continental breakfast there. So I went in and they had several young ladies as waitresses. The one that served me was pretty, but didn't look like Charlie, Charlie wasn't her name and the diner wasn't called Burnt Toast Diner. However, there were some other things similar to the story: 1) she asked me where we were from, and then said she had never been there but would like to go there one day, 2) a companion mentioned many people speak Spanish there, and she said she didn't know it well, but had studied it some in school... I replied that she might practice it on the internet, 3) she mentioned she had a boyfriend who was a policeman who knew Spanish a little better than her... fortunately for me, I knew better than to pursue things any further, although I almost asked if his name was Lloyd. ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:54, 13 January 2008 (EST) |

It's only just now occurred to me. Assuming Heroes gets picked up for a fifth (and almost certainly final) season, and if they're smart enough to fast forward through most of 2010, we'll actually get a look at the dreaded year 2011, when everything seems to go wrong. Im a fan that's trying to be spoiler free, limiting my spoiler consumption to answers to questions like "Will Caitlin be revisited, yes or no?" and "Who is drawing the next GN?" A few times when taking the pulse of the Wiki with the recent changes feature, I find spoilers. Through this I already know of <font color=#FFFFFF>Harrison Wilcox</font>, <font color=#FFFFFF>Metal mimicry</font>, and <font color=#FFFFFF>some guy named Knox</font> coming down the pipe, much to my chagrin. Might there be a button of sorts, like the one to show and hide bot edits, to hide changes to spoilers in the Recent changes page? I don't want to find out about those kinds of things before they are aired. -- 22:11, 17 January 2008 (EST) |

* (How is Harrison Wilcox a spoiler?) *One thing you can do that might help is click on the dropdown box next to Namespace. Then select Spoiler. Next to the "Go" button, there should be a box for "Invert selection"--check it. Now, when you hit "Go", it should show recent changes in all namespaces except Spoiler. That won't solve all your problems, but it will certainly help a bit. As an aside, I try to keep spoiler-spoilers out of my edit summaries, but I don't mind putting an upcoming actor's name or character's in the summary field, so long as I'm not telling things about that person. -- 22:52, 17 January 2008 (EST) |

Did any of you watch this fantastic show that ran from 2004 to 2007? The Directors' guild managers have reached a tentative deal with the producers. As detailed in this New York times article, this could be good news! First, the Director's guild needs to officially vote and approve it, but I think that's likely to happen. The writer's guild will be reviewing the contract too, and will hopefully be receiving a similar proposal from the producers. |

The residual starts after a 17-day period to promote the program, and is pegged at about $600 an episode of a one-hour network prime-time drama, for 26 weeks. (In the first year of a new series, the promotional period is 24 days.) That is a rate considerably higher than was last offered to writers when their negotiations with companies fell apart in early December. |

NBC will be starting a new affinity program later today, May 17, called "Fan It". I'm hoping that there might be something related to Heroes in the program, though I wouldn't place good odds on it. You can read about it on the NBCUMV website, at MediaWeek, or ThingFo. According to the press release, it will be "allowing visitors to earn points by watching videos, chatting about shows, and sharing content with friends. The program requires fans to sign up to participate at http://www.NBC.com/fanit, though they can do so using their existing Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or MyNBC accounts. |

greetings. I was looking through the pages and i couldnt find a page about discredited theories. i was wondering if you had a page with that kind of information. like theories that heroes producers and writers and production have officially discredited or laid to rest. I know the Lost/Heroes connection has been a huge discredited theory. Does anyone have anymore...thanks...i would appreciate the help.--Chrisisinchrist2 18:44, 21 January 2008 (EST) |
|||
* I don't think discredited theories are archived anywhere, however if you go through a particular Theory page's history you may be able to find ones that have been removed after being disproven. It's not too elegant and probably not too helpful for you, but it's a option at least. :) I'm also not a theories expert; I don't visit the theories pages much myself so someone who works with them more might have some more insight. (Admin 18:48, 21 January 2008 (EST)) |
|||
** We don't archive proven theories either. Once a theory is proven or disproved, it is removed. However, it remains in the page history so it can be searched for if you want to.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:01, 21 January 2008 (EST) |
|||
***We used to move theories that were no longer viable to a page called "disproven theories", but we found that it was difficult and quite pointless to archive disproven theories. Since they're fan theories and not canonical entities, there's no point in archiving them. We deleted the page back in March of last year. As for theories that the writers and production staff have shot down, I do think it would be a good idea to start a page for "common misconceptions". This would be a good place for things like Sylar's "boom voice" and the fact that Peter has not mimicked every power he's come in contact with. I believe there's a short discussion on the idea here. I know we've discussed it other places, too, but I'm not sure where. -- 19:07, 21 January 2008 (EST) |

**** I brought up the idea of a "frequent misconceptions" page sometime last year, though I guess we never did anything about it. One of the goals was to be able to point people there in the case of certain edits that would go back and forth over time because of a common misconception. (Admin 19:12, 21 January 2008 (EST)) |

***** I still think it's a good idea. Well, the Fall Preview is up at nbc.com. It looks like Heroes lost to a show called The Event, that's trying really hard to be some kind of Lost/Flashforward show... gotta be honest, looking at the line-up, I think NBC is going to get flattened this year. --<font color=#609000>Ricard</font> <font color=#609000>Desi</font> 09:36, 17 May 2010 (EDT) |

== Keeping the Graphic Novels going. == |
|||
* I'm curious of what people think of a project to expand the base information for each character. Currently for each character we give a summary of their current status plus a per-episode summary which is great, but I was wondering what people thought of adding more summary information about each character to the first section. I think in addition to the per-episode info we provide we could add relevant info to the first section for those looking for concise info about the character. It would be a little redundant considering the per-episode info, but would enhance the overall description of a character and provide people with the most important plot info for a character. (Admin 01:31, 3 February 2008 (EST)) |
|||
** Back in the day, Hardvice did that for a few characters. (See Noah#About, Claire#About, Peter#About.) I think the idea was to do that for all major characters, but for some reason it kind of disintegrated. (Personally, I didn't trust myself to do it, since Hardvice did such a terrific job.) I think it's an awesome idea. My only concern is that we don't get caught up in mundane details, we watch our perspective, and we don't have any speculation, of course. -- 01:37, 3 February 2008 (EST) |
|||
*** I agree entirely. The info for a particular character should be the most relevent information per volume I'd say. Basically the idea would be that if we consolidated the summary information for each character into one article that it would convey the jist of the story being told by the show. However, this may be even more redundant in the cases where we have season summaries of characters (which are essentially the same thing as I'm suggesting), so it's always possible we don't need to include this info in the first section at all. (Admin 01:47, 3 February 2008 (EST)) |
|||
**** I still think it has merit. When I'm browsing Wikipedia, I often just read the first introductory paragraph which gives a really good overview. It also has general information that might not be easily gleaned from a season summary. That said, even the examples above might need to be updated a bit...-- 01:51, 3 February 2008 (EST) |
|||
***** Indeed, I really like the idea. But if we did, I'd venture to say we'd need to update them every pod, or atleast every season. I think they would make the articles better, and overall, more practical. 01:57, 3 February 2008 (EST) |

Now that Heroes has ended, I decided to do as if it was being published again or to recreate all contents of Heroes especially the Heroes 360 and Heroes Evolutions (including MySpace pages, blogs, graphic novels, iStories, webisodes etc.) in the exact same order it was done four years ago back in 2006. I've opened a Google group page called "Reexperience Heroes" where all the announcements about new episode airing, new graphic novel released etc. will be done. And the dates and hours it happened four years from now, will be exactly the same. So, today is July 21 2010, in the Reexperience Heroes we're in July 21 2006. Therefore we already have the MySpace pages of Claire and Zach. == Deal made to end Strike. == |

== Past tense == |
|||
A deal has been struck between the major media companies and the Writers Guild of America to end the writers' strike, former Walt Disney chief executive Michael Eisner revealed on CNBC. |
|||
Now that Heroes has ended, should we put articles into past tense? Episodes articles should stay present tense for the plots, as these should be read as though the reader is describing the show as it happens. For character articles, I think it would be best if they were all in past tense, but for crew and actor articles, they should all be in past tense as is is unlikely than many of us will be checking up one every one of there careers. But before I do anything I want to see what others say. --mc_hammark 18:54, 6 August 2010 (EDT) |

"It's over," Eisner said. "They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general." |
|||
* No, I don't think so. The articles are written from the perspective of happening at the moment. Think of it as watching it on the DVD, if needed. :) -- 17:47, 17 August 2010 (EDT) |
|||
== Something every single one of you may be interested in (though unrelated to Heroes) == |

Eisner, speaking live on CNBC's "Fast Money," seemed to hesitate initially about whether it was possible that the writers could still reject the agreement, but finally suggested the deal's acceptance was inevitable. |
|||
Hey guys, it's been a while. Figured I'd pop in and give you all a heads up about a show I just discovered that's caught my interest. |
|||
"A deal has been made, and they'll be back to work very soon," Eisner said, adding, "I know a deal's been made. I know it's over." |
|||
It's a documentary show on the History Channel called Stan Lee's Superhumans. Basically the show is run by Stan Lee, who sends Daniel Browning Smith, a man who is considered to be the most flexible man in the world. He searches out humans across the world who are rumored to have "Super Powers", he witnesses them do their thing, and then he tries to find an explanation for the phenomenon. The first episode, for example, had a man who is able to absorb or conduct electrical current without sustaining any harm; a man who's brain works faster than a calculator; a 5'6" man able to snap steel, bend metal, and hold a motorcycle back with his hands, and a blind man who can navigate via echolocation. Another episode featured a man who could punch with more lethal force than a 30+MPH car crash. It's wild stuff, and though Heroes was a drama show, I'm sure enough of us are fans of Super Humans in general, so I'm positive most of you would enjoy it. Anyway, hope all is well here. :)--Riddler 01:52, 14 August 2010 (EDT) |

I have a new update about the strike. 1) The strike is still ON for at least Monday and Tuesday! 2) On Saturday, the guild presented a summary of the tentative deal to its members: they are getting the Streaming and Cellular revenues they wanted, but the DVD revenues were left off the table meaning they still get nothing/nada/zilch from DVD sales. 3) On Saturday, they decided to invoke the 48 hour vote to end the strike clause in the WGA constitution. That means there will be a vote on whether to end the strike on Tuesday. If the vote passes, the writers go back to work on Wednesday, 2/13/08 and not before. Does anyone still edit around here (except for good old Ryan)? I've just spent half an hour browsing through the articles and discussions on this site out of boredom, and I've been feeling small blasts of nostalgia and a lingering sadness that Heroes has forever ended and, really, so has our little community of Heroes Wiki editors. Anyway, this is also a sort of shout-out to all those Heroes Wiki editors I've met and worked with throughout the years, since I never really said a proper thank-you. Like a hint at what Sylar does with the brain, what Angela/Kaito's ability might be, some of the things the founders did, etc. Not the whole story, but just something to keep fans interested.-- 15:26, 17 February 2008 (EST) |

* Of course, I'm still hoping there's more to the story of Rollo Fusor's accomplice, but I'm hoping that will air on-screen. *wink wink* Anyways, I think it would be cool if there were some stories about the other heroes in the yamagatofellowship.org repository (i.e. Jason and the Argonauts, Thor), but I'd understand if they were saving those for the screen too, so if they have to add heroes to do a story about them, I've a couple suggestions: 1) a descendant of Morrigan (the Hercules version) in Ireland who has her enhanced speed--Sanjog Iyer could tell the descendant about his/her ancestor; 2) the origin of Pegasus, a horse with the power of flight. I have more suggestions if anyone wants to contact me privately.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:03, 17 February 2008 (EST) |

* I'd like to see a novel telling the story of Sylar killing James Walker unless they have that planned for a future episode. (Admin 23:59, 17 February 2008 (EST)) |
|||
**What I'm hearing is that fans want stories about existing characters, not necessarily new characters. I'm also reading that people want stories that explain answers, but don't give everything away. This is good stuff. -- 00:16, 18 February 2008 (EST) |
|||
*** I think in general when it comes to any series people are interested in occasionally having current "mysteries" explained or like to be able to look at something and suddenly see how it fits into the big picture of what already exists. I have a feeling that the murder of James Walker may have just been something originally designed to setup the character of Sylar and that they may have not intended to go into more detail on it... if that's true I think it makes for a great candidate for a graphic novel and now, after 2 seasons, provides a tie-in all the way back to the second episode. (Admin 00:22, 18 February 2008 (EST)) |
|||
*** Another reason most fans like existing characters is that they have grown to like them. It's hard to make suggestions about new characters if you don't know whom they are, and it's also hard since you're asking this question in a non-spoiler namespace. If you asked this same question in the spoilers section here and/or on 9th Wonders, you'd probably get very different answers. They're are a few characters I'm expecting to meet in Volume 3 which I think most would be happy to see introduced in the graphic novels.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:17, 18 February 2008 (EST) |

**** I like some of what they are doing now, like using characters from the List, but they need to change it up a little so it is not just evolved human of the week. Some that expand the story for the main characters would be nice. If they introduce characters for Season Three they should wait until closer to the start unless they have a really good continuing story. I think it would be really cool if they would re-release Claire and the Cat. * After seeing a number of "general appreciation threads" on 9thwonders.com I started a Heroes Wiki General Appreciation Thread here. This could be used as a general thread where those of us on 9thwonders.com can post any relevant news. Since it's in a subforum that's protected by a password (which is "shanti" if you dont have it already) it's not viewable by as many people on the board so major new announcements like interviews should still go in other threads as well, but this HWGAT thread can be used for more general discussions that might not warrant their own threads elsewhere. I know we can be original here, but over at Lostpedia they have the most useful templates for citing or linking to episodes. As I am not comfortable making a moving gif for this ability, I asked Admin about making it, whether it was okay to do so here/elsewhere and if the wiki should have a policy on animated gifs in general for our documentation, etc., and noting that I saw some abilities animated like Tommy's in the new Tumblr blogs shown on the revised 9thwonders.com site. I have a huge favour to ask about something I'm doing for the SArmy and the Save Nathan Petrelli |
|||
campaign and wanted to know if Heroeswiki could possibly give us a bit of help to get the word out! |
|||
We've started up a fanart competition for charity. What we're doing is have fanartists from both |
|||
campaigns submit their own original Heroes artwork (or non-Heroes work as well) for prints that |
|||
we'll be selling on www.zazzle.com. We have a shop on there -- but don't have it set up yet |
|||
since I haven't started putting submissions up. The funds from the sales will benefit the |
|||
Elevate Hope Foundation. The EHF helps abused children recover through the arts, literature, |
|||
theatre, and music. We were looking for a charity that both Zachary Quinto and Adrian Pasdar |
|||
support, and the EHF was our choice since the entire cast of Heroes supports them. |
|||
We're trying to see which of the fangroups can sell the most prints and thereby raise the most |
|||
money for the EHF. Jen from the SNP campaign and I are running the shop. If outside artists |
|||
join up (not already members of the SArmy or the SNP campaign), they would have to decide which |
|||
campaign they'd want to go to work for; we're going to try and keep things even, though. |
|||
If you want, you can read all the details about the campaign here: |
|||
</pre> |
|||
http://www.getphpbb.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=872&mforum=sarmy |
|||
<pre> |
|||
That includes all of our rules and everything. |
|||
I really want to get the word out about this, so I'm trying to advertise it in as many ways |
|||
as possible. |
|||
If this is something that you think Heroeswiki could give us a hand with, we would appreciate it |
|||
so so much! It's for a really good cause. |
|||
</pre> |
|||
* I think the charitable work they're doing is great and think it would be great if we could help them out. I was thinking we could at least add a note and link to the sitenotice at the top of every page and add it to the current events page. Any thoughts or opinions? Would they need to remove the "competition" portion in order for it to be appropriate for us to promote here? (Admin 15:56, 21 February 2008 (EST)) |
|||
** I agree it's great work, and I don't think the competition portion needs to be removed for us to promote it.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:33, 21 February 2008 (EST) |

*** Ok, I just wasn't sure if it was ok for people to have to pick when submitting which of the two groups they wanted to support. I was hoping that wouldn't muddy the decision since they're both contributing to the same charity (and the donation aspect is the relevent aspect to me). (Admin 16:36, 21 February 2008 (EST)) |

** I don't see any problem with mentioning it in at MediaWiki:sitenotice. SArmy has been good to us. :) -- 18:29, 21 February 2008 (EST) |

== R.I.P. Sir Arthur C. Clarke == |

Best-selling British science fiction author, inventor and futurist Sir Arthur C. Clarke passed away today at the age of 90. A few months ago, he taped this message for his fans on his birthday. Similar to Heroes, Clarke wrote the novel, Childhood's End in 1953, which tells a tale of what might happen if the world suddenly gained special abilities. Two of his novels, 2001 and 2010 have been made into films, and another work, Rendezvous with Rama, has been in-production at IMDb for a number of years (the release date keeps getting pushed back). I hope that this film will now be fast-tracked as a tribute to and in memory of him.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:29, 18 March 2008 (EDT) |

The New York Times has reviewed a new feature Google developed for Youtube, Youtube Insight. It lets youtube video creators see when and where their videos are watched. Looks cool to me. I'd guess a similar feature for their blogs would be next, and afterwards a similar service for other websites that feature their ads, unless they already have that. Heroes Wiki uses Google ads, so I thought of us when I read that.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:42, 27 March 2008 (EDT) |

== Oliver Dennison == |
|||
* I had an idea that isn't fantastically original, but could be interesting. I was wondering if there was any interest in an in-character Heroes Evolutions-like blog written from the perspective of Oliver Dennison, a reporter from the New York Journal. The idea would be to write about the events in Heroes from the perspective of a curious reporter who doesn't have the perspective we do. I think most of the events reported would be those that take place in NY (since he does live in NY and work for the NY Journal). I'd also want to keep almost all interaction with actual Heroes characters to a minimum and limited to encounters we've seen take place or else I feel like it would lose some of its intrigue and become just like any other fan fiction. I think when you have fan-created content like this it often tries too hard to interact with actual characters ficticiously and it instantly starts to feel like pure fan fiction (not to mention how difficult it can be for people to write convincing interactions with characters we all know). Much like Hana's original blog, Oliver's posts would reflect mostly curiosity, confusion, and suspicion. He will have many questions and very few answers (think Audrey when it came to understanding the Sylar case) If there's interest in this I can have a site ready pretty quickly. There could be a number of contributors who could each write articles for the blog as Oliver. For those who would be contributing, I'd recommend re-watching the scenes with Oliver Dennison so that the tone of the article more accurately reflects how we've seen him. (Admin 16:52, 29 March 2008 (EDT)) |
|||
* Very good idea. I'd be willing to contribute, but my main priority remains the wiki. -- 17:13, 29 March 2008 (EDT) |

** I wouldn't mind working a bit on this. I enjoy story writing and stuff. And Oliver Dennison seems like the type of guy who picks at all the mentions of "Linderman" and jumps to the right conclusions at the wrong times. --DocM 18:10, 29 March 2008 (EDT) |
|||
*** I'm not all that interested, but I would recommend creating an original character instead of using Oliver. It might be kind of frustrating if NBC started it's own NY Journal site with an Oliver blog...--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:15, 29 March 2008 (EDT) |

**** I'm willing to take that risk. I think using Oliver has just the right degree of tie-in. I'll start things off soon when I have time and will welcome anyone who wants to volunteer articles. (Admin 23:18, 29 March 2008 (EDT)) |
|||
***** Would it be done in timeline order? Like, we post blogs, but change the date so that it represents when it happened, such as a post on November 9th about the events on November 8th? (that's an example - his post might have been deleted because Bob kept everything hidden about the explosion in Four Months Ago...) --DocM 08:54, 30 March 2008 (EDT) |

== Can we move Disambigs to the top of the page? == |
|||
The one thing that bugs me about this place is that the disambigs, at least the name ones, are placed at the bottom of the page in the "see also" section. Was there any rational for this when the wiki was formed? Might they be put at the top instead?-- 23:29, 1 April 2008 (EDT) |
|||
* Other than the fact that that's how Wikipedia does it, is there a reason to have the disambig link at the top? I really prefer having it towards the bottom. When I go to read an article on Wikipedia, I hate that the first thing I see is "Go see this article instead". I suppose everything could be moved to the top, but that would require edits to possibly two thousand articles. It doesn't seem worth it to me just to have a link at the top instead of at the bottom....When I know I need a link that's at the bottom, I use the TOC to jump to the See Also section, and then click the link. -- 00:04, 2 April 2008 (EDT) |
|||
* There are two types of disambigs. One is where the entire article is a disambig. It's often used for generic terms when there's a good chance someone looking for it could be looking for any of the pages listed on the disambig. In other places where the term most likely refers to a specific article, but MAY in some instances be a different one the disambig helps the searcher find the article they were actually looking for. In this latter instance the disambig info isn't meant to be the most prominent info in the article (i.e. at the top), but rather a navigational aid for the few instances where it's not actually the intended article so it makes sense for it to be at the bottom. I think in the end it mostly comes down to an early style decision and all our articles have always included the disambig info at the bottom. (Admin 00:11, 2 April 2008 (EDT)) |

* You might try checking with the local network it appears on in Australia, the Seven Network. Often, it's delayed at least a few months, though since the 7 network's website says Season 2 in Australia aired parallel to Season 2 in the USA, I'd guess that Season 3 will air there not long after the US airing.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:06, 28 May 2008 (EDT) |

* With Seven advertising Cautionary Tales as the season finale, I would doubt it would be in the 2008 TV Season. Season 2 also aired here with a 3 week delay, regardless of what seven says. I anticipate that Seven will skip Heroes for the last bit of the 2008 season and air it at the start of the 09 season (Feb). Reasoning for this would be that Seven would see Heroes "wasted" if it didn't have anything to put it up against. 03:20, 2 June 2008 (EDT) |

== Spoiler article formating idea from the german wiki == |
|||
I stumbled through to the German wiki and noticed how they have a few articles that appear to be spoilers articles formated, namely their abilities portal, abilities list, and their aticle on Bob. Im thinking it might not be a bad Idea to format spoiler articles here in a similar fashion. That way, damage done to a spoilerphobe after clicking on a land mine (a camouflaged link to a spoiler page from a page that is not in the spoiler space) might be less severe. Anyone else agree? -- 23:48, 21 June 2008 (EDT) |
|||
* For the German Wiki, they are doing that because they are watching the show a season or so after it runs in the United States. We shouldn't have to add spoiler tags to pages like our abilities portal, list and Bob. I guess it's a separate issue as to whether all spoiler articles for this wiki could be shifted into the 2nd page. It's mainly just a matter of altering Template:Unairedspoiler to add a page of whitespace before any other text, however many people will probably not want to be bothered with scrolling down to a second page. I don't imagine the search engines would like that either, but I'm really undecided in my opinion about it. I do see your point that it could help.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:21, 22 June 2008 (EDT) |

== On our handling of the upcoming webisodes... == |
|||
Through various grape vines, they are set to start airing on the 14th of July. How are we going to handle them? Are we going to make a namespace for them, and handle them like Lospedia did their Missing Pieces (there is a page for each webisode there) or are we going to do like we did for Sword Saint and Global News Interactive? -- 16:02, 7 July 2008 (EDT) |

* Do you know how long they're each going to be? I'm inclined to create a Webisode namespace so we can have articles for each one. (Admin 16:15, 7 July 2008 (EDT)) |

|||
* That's great that the namespace is already set up. Since we already know the name of the first webisode, would it be okay to begin templates and a draft article for it before its release?--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:46, 7 July 2008 (EDT) |
|||
** Regarding the main page, I think we're better off using something like "Webisodes Edition One: Going Postal" since "Going Postal" only applies to the first three webisodes. Also, we don't do "Heroes: Graphic Novels" or "Heroes: Episodes" as articles, so I think the actual webisodes should be in "Portal:Webisodes" with "Heroes: Going Postal" as a redirect. PS: According to NBC's new Heroes webisodes portal, the first Webisode has been renamed to "A Nifty Trick".--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:27, 7 July 2008 (EDT) |
|||
*** As an alternative (and at this point, I'm fine with whatever we go with), reflecting these new developments, how about we do this: the page name is "Webisode: Going Postal". Then, we format the page thusly: |
|||
<pre>==Part One: "A Nifty Trick"== |
|||
summary |
|||
==Part Two: "title"== |
|||
summary |
|||
==Part Three: "title"== |
|||
summary</pre> -- 00:57, 8 July 2008 (EDT) |
|||
* That initially sounds like a good idea. This is my speculation, but the preview has so many scenes that I think each part will be running at least 20 minutes. That would make the entire thing 1 hour combined and equivalent to one episode. They'll be advance-screening part 3 in it's entirety at Comi-con, so I doubt any part would be much longer than that due to time constraints, but I'd love to be wrong. :) However, with that unknown and the hassle of messing with the includes, and having multiple checklists on the same talk page, it may be easier to do them as separate pages. Perhaps we should do: Webisode:Going Postal, Part 1; and then use "A Nifty Trick" as the subtitle for that part. That's the way we do the multi-part graphic novels that have their own title and I think the same could work here.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:53, 8 July 2008 (EDT) |

==Competition Idea== |
|||
I believe that we could launch a competition in which people would design clothing to appear in the graphic novels. Each month people could send in their designs and they would then be included in a novel. We would of course have to get the graphic novel writers and artists to agree. I think we could only do it for a year but I think it would draw a lot of attention to the site. If we had a different item of clothing each month it wouldn't get repetitive, like a t-shirt one month and a hat the next. It would of course almost completely depend on getting the people involved in the novels to agree, but Ryan knows a lot of people and I know one or two, I think if we worked on it it could be really good. What do you think? --Skywalkerrbf 17:20, 22 August 2008 (EDT) |

Visions of Earth needs help!
Thank you! :) --Leckie -- Talk 19:04, 26 March 2010 (EDT)
Few things that can be improved
Ok, first off, Great wiki, but i would improve a few things.
On the Character pages, we have (example)
Claire Bennett: Claire is daughter of Nathan, but adopted daughter of Noah. She can regenerate and blah blah blah
About Claire
She lived in Texas as a cheerleader...
Show History
In Season 1 Claire discovered her ability, ran away from sylar and gets held hostage by Ted, blah blah
In Season 2 Claire moves to Costa Verde and falls for West, blah
Then it goes
In Season 3 episode 1, claire does this
In Season 3 episode 2, we see claire for a slit second drinking tea
In Season 3 episode 3, claire does this and this ....
And finally my second idea.
Maybe we could have some articles on "Character X & Character Y History" Documenting the relationship between two different characters in the show history, so when two characters who do not normally meet (like Ando and Noah) there could be one article to tell us the relation and previous meeting of these characters.
This would need a LOT of new articles (~30 characters in Heros, meaning we would have 900 new articles) But when we are watching season 5 (hoping there will be a season 5) we can instantly track previous characters interactions even if they barely met before. Mr Hiro 21:01, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
EDIT: Damn it, no sooner have i finished complaining about Heroes wiki have i noticed Heroes wiki has already changed, looks like my first idea is already being implemented before i can even complain about it. Never mind, however i would still like to push my second idea. Mr Hiro 21:08, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
- So long as we don't append silly "Sythan" style names to the pages (but rather something like Connection:Nathan Petrelli and Sylar), I think this could be a really good idea. Lots of Season One's plot points revolved around stuff like this. --Ricard Desi 21:15, 10 April 2010 (EDT)

- The only thing that's really stopping the relationships being a canon analysis is the names that we've given them. If they were renamed to Relationship:Hiro and Charlie for example, all the information and interactions come from canon sources and is canon. --mc_hammark 08:29, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- So we're basically looking at a massive move from all the corny fan creation names to "Connection/Relationship:X and Y", right?--BOYCOOL -- THE END IS NIGH. 09:32, 11 April 2010 (EDT)

- I'm also not a fan of adding 900 new articles that need to be maintained when we have a hard enough time maintaining the articles we already have in existence. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:37, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- That's the thing though, if it were to be done, it be a waste of memory. The relationships already exist and use only canon information. If we created these articles, the only reason they'd be canon and not fan creations is the name. As soon as we slap a fan made name on anything it becomes a fan creation. --mc_hammark 16:45, 11 April 2010 (EDT)

- This is my first time posting something here so please bear with me: I have a minor alteration request that I would like to run by the community and that is changing the character box on the right side where it says known ability to just ability because I find it a bit confusing for people we know have an ability, we just don't know what it is so none is posted, to me implying they don't have one. For the change if the character isn't an evolved human we put none and if he/she does but we don't know we put unknown Or, for example, Kaito's character bio we could put unk, see notes That's my two cents. -- Inblackestnight 23:57, 31 May 2010 (EDT)
The future is now
It's only just now occurred to me. Assuming Heroes gets picked up for a fifth (and almost certainly final) season, and if they're smart enough to fast forward through most of 2010, we'll actually get a look at the dreaded year 2011, when everything seems to go wrong. I wonder how they'll choose to address that? --Ricard Desi 12:25, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
- Well everything has been leading there since the beginning, so it would seem. Especially with Claire's most recent actions... --Skullman1392 23:49, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
Fans of The 4400
Did any of you watch this fantastic show that ran from 2004 to 2007? Since activity on Heroes Wiki has slowed dramatically, I've decided to spread my wings: I've taken over The 4400 Wiki as an administrator and I've been working on the site for a couple of weeks now. We're still in the very early stages, and very few articles have been written, so any help we can get is appreciated. Any fans of this show may contribute, although admittedly Wikia's interface takes a bit of getting used to. And to those who haven't watched this show, I strongly recommend you do. --Radicell 09:11, 6 May 2010 (EDT)
- I loved The 4400. I thought it was a very under appreciated show. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:08, 6 May 2010 (EDT)
- Definitely Ryan, me too. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 04:42, 7 May 2010 (EDT)
- Yeah 4400 was great....except when season 3 rolled around, and Mohinder and everyone began injecting themselves with Promicin. (oops). --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 05/7/2010 13:14 (EST)
- Definitely Ryan, me too. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 04:42, 7 May 2010 (EDT)
File
Hey guys, I just find a really good Microsoft Excel file about Heroes, this is the link. There are written all the evolved humans, all the abilities, all the primatech files, a timeline for the Company. All this things there are also on this wiki, but I think you shold look at it. :) (P.S.: You should have installed Microsoft Excel for read this file) --TanderixUTCR14:30, 11 May 2010 (EDT)
- I can't see it, it comes up with something you have to buy. --Leckie -- Talk 14:34, 11 May 2010 (EDT)
- Didn't appear this: "Your file download should start immediately.
If it does not start automatically, please click here to start the download process. Signature and Premium users never have to wait in line to get any public file, so sign up and sign in now and you won't ever have to wait again!"? --Tanderix 14:39, 11 May 2010 (EDT)
- I was able to see it, where did you get it? Cuz it has a LOT of information, but it's not all acurate (it says Lydia's ability is Clairvoyance, for example) and it doesn't look very official. --Skullman1392 17:27, 11 May 2010 (EDT)
- I found it in a 9th Wonders (site) post. I know, it isn't perfect, I changed it on my PC. ;)--Tanderix 14:08, 12 May 2010 (EDT)
New Wiki Project
Hello everyone :) I have recently started a new wiki over at Wikia, about the Percy Jackson series. If anyone is able to help it would be muchly appreciated! :) I hope to be editing with some of you over there. The wiki is currently in very early stages, I only just made it, and any help would be great! Thanks! :D --Leckie -- Talk 14:20, 12 May 2010 (EDT)
- There's another Percy Jackson wiki on wikia, It's here :P. --Jenx222 | U / T / C | <inlcudeonly>08:00, 7 January 2012 (EST) 15:53, 12 May 2010 (EDT)
- I'm sorry to be the one pointing this out but it's "thief" not "theif". --Radicell 03:59, 17 May 2010 (EDT)
NBC 'Fan It' Program Begins May 17, New Ad Campaign
NBC will be starting a new affinity program later today, May 17, called "Fan It". I'm hoping that there might be something related to Heroes in the program, though I wouldn't place good odds on it. You can read about it on the NBCUMV website, at MediaWeek, or ThingFo. According to the press release, it will be "allowing visitors to earn points by watching videos, chatting about shows, and sharing content with friends. The program requires fans to sign up to participate at http://www.NBC.com/fanit, though they can do so using their existing Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or MyNBC accounts.
As people accumulate points, they will be able to redeem them for various prizes, such as access to a yet-to-premiere series, NBC merchandise and entries to sweepstakes. To execute the Fan It program, NBC has partnered with the social media tracking company ThingFo Inc."
Also, "the network will kick off an ad blitz that includes a whopping 19 Microsoft properties and partners, ranging from MSN to Bing to Glo to various Xbox games. As part of the elaborate sponsorship package—which will run through Sept. 20—NBC and Microsoft have collaborated on “Preview to Fall TV” microsite within MSN TV. In addition, NBC will promote its new lineup via Wonderwall, Windows Messenger, and various mobile and social media platforms."--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:05, 17 May 2010 (EDT)
Fall Line-up
Well, the Fall Preview is up at nbc.com. It looks like Heroes lost to a show called The Event, that's trying really hard to be some kind of Lost/Flashforward show... gotta be honest, looking at the line-up, I think NBC is going to get flattened this year. --Ricard Desi 09:36, 17 May 2010 (EDT)
- Yeah, nothing looks particularly interesting other than Chuck. What could happen is, if none of these new shows get much viewings, NBC might bring back Heroes, or give them a few years out then bring them back, because although the fan base is small, it is a solid fan base. --mc_hammark 10:47, 17 May 2010 (EDT)
Keeping the Graphic Novels going.
NBC wants to know whether they should keep the graphic novels going. They've got a thread going on 9th Wonders, so I suggest we all head over there and let them know that we are still wanting the GNs. Thanks guys.--mc_hammark 06:51, 19 May 2010 (EDT)
Season 4 DVD
Is there? I'd love to know what was cut from Season 4.
AltesUTC CH 07:09, 14 June 2010 (EDT)
- Me too, I really hope there is. I also wanna know what they thought wasn't good enough for the episodes! :L (God I'm sadistic) --Leckie -- Talk 07:11, 14 June 2010 (EDT)
Tim Kring launches new ARG with Nokia
It's called the Conspiracy for Good, and you can find out more info. about it including how to sign up at http://www.nokia.com/press/press-releases/showpressrelease?newsid=1426084 and http://www.conspiracyforgood.com/. It looks like it's not Heroes-related, but I thought it worth mentioning. It begins Mid-July 2010.--MiamiVolts (talk) 10:48, 27 June 2010 (EDT)
Heroes Once Again
Those who are interested can join the google group also add Claire and Zach as a friend and write comments :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 07:38, 21 July 2010 (EDT)
Past tense
Now that Heroes has ended, should we put articles into past tense? Episodes articles should stay present tense for the plots, as these should be read as though the reader is describing the show as it happens. For character articles, I think it would be best if they were all in past tense, but for crew and actor articles, they should all be in past tense as is is unlikely than many of us will be checking up one every one of there careers. But before I do anything I want to see what others say. --mc_hammark 18:54, 6 August 2010 (EDT)
- No, I don't think so. The articles are written from the perspective of happening at the moment. Think of it as watching it on the DVD, if needed. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:47, 17 August 2010 (EDT)
Hey guys, it's been a while. Figured I'd pop in and give you all a heads up about a show I just discovered that's caught my interest. :)--Riddler 01:52, 14 August 2010 (EDT)
Kaito Nakamura does have an abillity.
I was watching the bonus dvd from season 2 and i noticed something in the deleted scenes.
He hase the abillity to see the variables of any situation and predict the outcome.
Ando: Like a computer? Kaito: I'm faster. How do you think i've done so well in the stock market?
--StephanOtter 15:53, 5 November 2010
- This has been mentioned several times, it has also been noted in the Notes section on Kaito's page. Also... since it was only shown in a deleted scene it is not official, meaning we can't class it as his ability, unfortunately. --Leckie -- Talk 14:09, 5 November 2010 (EDT)
I miss you guys
Does anyone still edit around here (except for good old Ryan)? I've just spent half an hour browsing through the articles and discussions on this site out of boredom, and I've been feeling small blasts of nostalgia and a lingering sadness that Heroes has forever ended and, really, so has our little community of Heroes Wiki editors. The Event Wiki just doesn't seem to have picked up the same momentum that we had around here. Anyway, this is also a sort of shout-out to all those Heroes Wiki editors I've met and worked with throughout the years, since I never really said a proper thank-you. And hopefully, the next time a highly-anticipated superhero TV series premieres, I'll see you all again. --Radicell 03:05, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
- *sniff* Hey, Radicell. Good to see you around. Yeah, I'm not sure why The Event Wiki hasn't taken off, and more specifically I'm not sure why Heroes Wiki fostered such a neat community. I've been tangentially part of a few other wiki communities -- for shows I've enjoyed more -- and I never felt the same kind of camaraderie as I felt on HW. It's pretty cool to be part of something successful and quality like this site, and I miss it too. :) Ah, such is life... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:07, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
Alphas
I know very few people are going to read this, but for the ones who do, there's a new show airing on Syfy called Alphas that has grabbed my attention. It seems similar to Heroes in many respects and I've been impressed by the pilot episode. Just a note for anyone who's interested: there's an Alphas Wiki that looks like it'd be fun to edit. --Radicell 23:13, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
- Cool, thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:27, 16 July 2011 (EDT)
This made me smile
So I was reading this interview with Rockstar Games' founder, Dan Houser. Look at the last question on the last page.
It's funny. I spoke with Tim Kring, the creator of the TV show Heroes, earlier this year, and even that show had so much mythology going on he said that the writers lost track. But thankfully, the fans were so obsessive they had basically put together a wiki, and the writers were pulling information from that.
DH: We do the same. I would be very surprised if anyone working on a long running thing like this that is popular these days isn't. The wiki is pretty good. For some of the older games, where I just want to remember a particular person's name or a particular brand or something, it's probably in our records, but some of the details stuff from the wiki is amazing and we love it.
--Radicell 17:55, 8 January 2012 (EST)
- That's great! Thanks, Radicell! Here's a tweet on the original interview. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:11, 10 January 2012 (EST)
Binge
Hey, everybody. The websites TV Binges & Primatech Files are going to do a Heroes binge on September 6 from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. They will be watching the episodes Genesis, Company Man, Five Years Gone, How to Stop an Exploding Man, Four Months Later..., 1961, and Brave New World. (What a great list!) It'll be a neat fan community event on Twitter. Details can be found at this link. Just thought I'd pass this along! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:55, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
Animated Gifs and 9thwonders.com
Sandubadear asked on Talk:Hachiro's ability about having a gif of Hachiro's ability being used to materialize Katana Girl (transform her into a physical person), and after I added some screenshots to the ability page Sandubadear told me on my talk page that the desire was really for a moving gif. Admin pointed me to this community portal for my questions.
The wiki has had a category for Animations for a while, but we use them only sparingly in articles (most animations don't work inside a gallery). Hopefully, if this is allowed, someone else can help Sandubadear out.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:12, 9 November 2015 (EST)
- Used sparingly, it's allowed, especially for something like showing how an ability's special effect is displayed. I can't help with making the animation though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:13, 9 November 2015 (EST)
- I agree, and I also do not make animated gifs. Should any more be created I would just suggest that they try to limit to the fewest number of frames necessary to accurately demonstrate the idea in question. (Admin (talk) 20:46, 9 November 2015 (EST))
- Thanks, hopefully someone else will volunteer to help Sandubadear out. Regarding the blogs, for reference, there is the NBC Heroes Reborn Tumblr blog (nbcheroes.tumblr.com)(add this to links?), and there is the NBC 9thwonders Tumblr blog (nbc9thwonders.tumblr.com), which redirects to 9thwonders.com and appears to be a blog with posts from different blogs. The example I noted above of showing Tommy's ability appears to be an official reblog at 9thwonders.com/post/126125489081 (lower right animation) of another user's blog post: endiness.tumblr.com/post/123935456172.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:06, 10 November 2015 (EST)
