* Since the Comic-Con 2007 registration filled up early I took the precaution of registering early for Comic-Con 2008 so I should be there this year. If anyone else is interested in going I recommend registering early because they have a tendency to fill up quickly. Plus apparently hotels in the area fill up quickly and it was already difficult to find one nearby without having to pay both arms and both legs (it already costs an arm and a leg). Best question we've gotten in a while -- ready?: "How does this strike affect my fandom?" Which was explained to me as a roundabout (and genius) way of asking, "So what does this mean for Season 3 of Heroes? Are we gonna get one or what?"

Here's where there's some good news finally. Every single person associated with Heroes -- from the writers to the crew... even to the studio we're striking -- is chomping at the bit to get more episodes the second we're able. We all want to make 'em as badly as you want to watch 'em. So whenever this thing resolves itself (here's hoping soon) you can bet the team will hit the ground running. No -- more than that -- what's faster than a run? A sprint? Gallop? Whichever, we're gonna do that.

Why can we not have a sweeping few paragraphs for the whole of volume 3 & 4 & 5 like we do for Season/Volume 1 & 2 rather than an episode by episode breakdown (which could be in its own article like "Claire Bennet: Season One History" and "Claire Bennet: Season Two History".)?
Other good news: Even the worst projections for the length of the strike have it ending at some point this season. Eventually the people who make decisions for the people who are negotiating for the studios are going to have to tell them to make the deals and compromises that everyone knows they need to and should make. So the question isn't "Will there be a Season 3?", more one of "How many episodes will Season 3 have?"


The answer to that one depends on when we can get back to work. Traditionally writing staffs assemble in late May/early June to get cracking in time to write a full season. So if the strike ends soon, our best guess is that we'd get jamming right away, starting on Season 3 that much earlier... maybe even ending up with a super-sized Season 3. If it's later, Season 3 could come in a few episodes shy of the traditional 22.

Maybe we could have some articles on "Character X & Character Y History" Documenting the relationship between two different characters in the show history, so when two characters who do not normally meet (like Ando and Noah) there could be one article to tell us the relation and previous meeting of these characters.

** I'm also not a fan of adding 900 new articles that need to be maintained when we have a hard enough time maintaining the articles we already have in existence. So many of those silly relationship articles--which could serve the purposes stated above, despite being fan creation articles--are stubs, and are looong stubs, at that. Even the [[connections]] page could be beefed up, but that page really is rarely touched, so I'm afraid to see what would happen when we add 900 more pages like it. Ultimately, this would be a huge project, and one I'm not very excited about. On a recent trip, I think I had a ''Saving Charlie'' moment (experience?). I had breakfast at a breakfast and lunch diner as the motel I stayed at was giving out coupons for continental breakfast there. So I went in and they had several young ladies as waitresses. The one that served me was pretty, but didn't look like Charlie, Charlie wasn't her name and the diner wasn't called ''Burnt Toast Diner''. However, there were some other things similar to the story: 1) she asked me where we were from, and then said she had never been there but would like to go there one day, 2) a companion mentioned many people speak Spanish there, and she said she didn't know it well, but had studied it some in school... Im a fan that's trying to be spoiler free, limiting my spoiler consumption to answers to questions like "Will [[Caitlin]] be revisited, yes or no?" and "Who is drawing the next GN?" Through this I already know of <font color=#FFFFFF>Harrison Wilcox</font>, <font color=#FFFFFF>Metal mimicry</font>, and <font color=#FFFFFF>some guy named Knox</font> coming down the pipe, much to my chagrin. Might there be a button of sorts, like the one to show and hide bot edits, to hide changes to spoilers in the Recent changes page? *One thing you can do that might help is click on the dropdown box next to Namespace. Then select Spoiler. Next to the "Go" button, there should be a box for "Invert selection"--check it. Now, when you hit "Go", it should show recent changes in all namespaces ''except'' Spoiler. That won't solve all your problems, but it will certainly help a bit. Since activity on Heroes Wiki has slowed dramatically, I've decided to spread my wings: I've taken over [http://4400.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page The 4400 Wiki] as an administrator and I've been working on the site for a couple of weeks now. The Directors' guild managers have reached a tentative deal with the producers. First, the Director's guild needs to officially vote and approve it, but I think that's likely to happen. The writer's guild will be reviewing the contract too, and will hopefully be receiving a similar proposal from the producers.

According the NY Times article, the Directors guild's deal roughly doubles the residuals rate that was paid for decades when films and television programs were resold on cassettes or DVDs, and requires Hollywood studios and production companies, for the first time, to pay a reuse/residual fee when advertising-supported programs are streamed free over the Internet.

* I don't think discredited theories are archived anywhere, however if you go through a particular Theory page's history you may be able to find ones that have been removed after being disproven. It's a documentary show on the History Channel called Stan Lee's Superhumans. Basically the show is run by Stan Lee, who sends Daniel Browning Smith, a man who is considered to be the most flexible man in the world. He searches out humans across the world who are rumored to have "Super Powers", he witnesses them do their thing, and then he tries to find an explanation for the phenomenon. The first episode, for example, had a man who is [[electrical absorption|able to absorb or conduct electrical current without sustaining any harm]]; a man who's brain works faster than a calculator; a 5'6" man able to [[Super strength|snap steel, bend metal, and hold a motorcycle back with his hands]], and a blind man who can navigate via echolocation. Another episode featured a man who could punch with more lethal force than a 30+MPH car crash. It's wild stuff, and though Heroes was a drama show, I'm sure enough of us are fans of Super Humans in general, so I'm positive most of you would enjoy it. DH: We do the same. I would be very surprised if anyone working on a long running thing like this that is popular these days isn't. The wiki is pretty good. [[User:Sandubadear|Sandubadear]] asked on [[Talk:Hachiro's ability]] about having a gif of Hachiro's ability being used to materialize Katana Girl (transform her into a physical person), and after I added some [[Hachiro's ability#Examples|screenshots]] to the ability page Sandubadear told me on my talk page that the desire was really for a moving gif. I have a huge favour to ask about something I'm doing for the SArmy and the Save Nathan Petrelli
campaign and wanted to know if Heroeswiki could possibly give us a bit of help to get the word out!

We've started up a fanart competition for charity. What we're doing is have fanartists from both
campaigns submit their own original Heroes artwork (or non-Heroes work as well) for prints that
we'll be selling on www.zazzle.com. We have a shop on there -- but don't have it set up yet
since I haven't started putting submissions up. The funds from the sales will benefit the
Elevate Hope Foundation. The EHF helps abused children recover through the arts, literature,
theatre, and music. We were looking for a charity that both Zachary Quinto and Adrian Pasdar
support, and the EHF was our choice since the entire cast of Heroes supports them.

We're trying to see which of the fangroups can sell the most prints and thereby raise the most
money for the EHF. Jen from the SNP campaign and I are running the shop. If outside artists
join up (not already members of the SArmy or the SNP campaign), they would have to decide which
campaign they'd want to go to work for; we're going to try and keep things even, though.

== Oliver Dennison ==

* I had an idea that isn't fantastically original, but could be interesting. I was wondering if there was any interest in an in-character Heroes Evolutions-like blog written from the perspective of [[Oliver Dennison]], a reporter from the [[New York Journal]]. The idea would be to write about the events in Heroes from the perspective of a curious reporter who doesn't have the perspective we do. I think most of the events reported would be those that take place in NY (since he does live in NY and work for the NY Journal). I'd also want to keep almost all interaction with actual Heroes characters to a minimum and limited to encounters we've seen take place or else I feel like it would lose some of its intrigue and become just like any other fan fiction. I think when you have fan-created content like this it often tries too hard to interact with actual characters ficticiously and it instantly starts to feel like pure fan fiction (not to mention how difficult it can be for people to write convincing interactions with characters we all know). Much like Hana's original blog, Oliver's posts would reflect mostly curiosity, confusion, and suspicion. He will have many questions and very few answers (think [[Audrey]] when it came to understanding the [[Sylar]] case) If there's interest in this I can have a site ready pretty quickly. There could be a number of contributors who could each write articles for the blog as Oliver. For those who would be contributing, I'd recommend re-watching the scenes with Oliver Dennison so that the tone of the article more accurately reflects how we've seen him. * Other than the fact that that's how Wikipedia does it, is there a reason to have the disambig link at the top? I really prefer having it towards the bottom. When I go to read an article on Wikipedia, I hate that the first thing I see is "Go see this article instead". I suppose everything could be moved to the top, but that would require edits to possibly two thousand articles. * There are two types of disambigs. One is where the entire article is a disambig. It's often used for generic terms when there's a good chance someone looking for it could be looking for any of the pages listed on the disambig. In other places where the term most likely refers to a specific article, but MAY in some instances be a different one the disambig helps the searcher find the article they were actually looking for. In this latter instance the disambig info isn't meant to be the most prominent info in the article (i.e. at the top), but rather a navigational aid for the few instances where it's not actually the intended article so it makes sense for it to be at the bottom. Im thinking it might not be a bad Idea to format spoiler articles here in a similar fashion. That way, damage done to a spoilerphobe after clicking on a land mine (a camouflaged link to a spoiler page from a page that is not in the spoiler space) might be less severe. * For the German Wiki, they are doing that because they are watching the show a season or so after it runs in the United States. We shouldn't have to add spoiler tags to pages like our abilities portal, list and Bob. I guess it's a separate issue as to whether all spoiler articles for this wiki could be shifted into the 2nd page. It's mainly just a matter of altering [[Template:Unairedspoiler]] to add a page of whitespace before any other text, however many people will probably not want to be bothered with scrolling down to a second page. * That initially sounds like a good idea. This is my speculation, but the preview has so many scenes that I think each part will be running at least 20 minutes. That would make the entire thing 1 hour combined and equivalent to one episode. They'll be advance-screening part 3 in it's entirety at Comi-con, so I doubt any part would be much longer than that due to time constraints, but I'd love to be wrong. :) However, with that unknown and the hassle of messing with the includes, and having multiple checklists on the same talk page, it may be easier to do them as separate pages. ==Competition Idea==
I believe that we could launch a competition in which people would design clothing to appear in the graphic novels. Each month people could send in their designs and they would then be included in a novel. We would of course have to get the graphic novel writers and artists to agree. I think we could only do it for a year but I think it would draw a lot of attention to the site. If we had a different item of clothing each month it wouldn't get repetitive, like a t-shirt one month and a hat the next. It would of course almost completely depend on getting the people involved in the novels to agree, but Ryan knows a lot of people and I know one or two, I think if we worked on it it could be really good. Few things that can be improved

Ok, first off, Great wiki, but i would improve a few things.

On the Character pages, we have (example)

Claire Bennett: Claire is daughter of Nathan, but adopted daughter of Noah. She can regenerate and blah blah blah

About Claire

She lived in Texas as a cheerleader...

Show History

In Season 1 Claire discovered her ability, ran away from sylar and gets held hostage by Ted, blah blah

In Season 2 Claire moves to Costa Verde and falls for West, blah

Then it goes

In Season 3 episode 1, claire does this

In Season 3 episode 2, we see claire for a slit second drinking tea

In Season 3 episode 3, claire does this and this ....

Why can we not have a sweeping few paragraphs for the whole of volume 3 & 4 & 5 like we do for Season/Volume 1 & 2 rather than an episode by episode breakdown (which could be in its own article like "Claire Bennet: Season One History" and "Claire Bennet: Season Two History".)?


And finally my second idea.

Maybe we could have some articles on "Character X & Character Y History" Documenting the relationship between two different characters in the show history, so when two characters who do not normally meet (like Ando and Noah) there could be one article to tell us the relation and previous meeting of these characters.

This would need a LOT of new articles (~30 characters in Heros, meaning we would have 900 new articles) But when we are watching season 5 (hoping there will be a season 5) we can instantly track previous characters interactions even if they barely met before. Mr Hiro 21:01, 10 April 2010 (EDT)

    • I'm also not a fan of adding 900 new articles that need to be maintained when we have a hard enough time maintaining the articles we already have in existence. So many of those silly relationship articles--which could serve the purposes stated above, despite being fan creation articles--are stubs, and are looong stubs, at that. Even the connections page could be beefed up, but that page really is rarely touched, so I'm afraid to see what would happen when we add 900 more pages like it. Ultimately, this would be a huge project, and one I'm not very excited about. If somebody would like to create it in their user space and then move it into the main namespace when it's all finished, that is something we can certainly discuss.       • That's the thing though, if it were to be done, it be a waste of memory. The relationships already exist and use only canon information. If we created these articles, the only reason they'd be canon and not fan creations is the name.   • This is my first time posting something here so please bear with me: I have a minor alteration request that I would like to run by the community and that is changing the character box on the right side where it says known ability to just ability because I find it a bit confusing for people we know have an ability, we just don't know what it is so none is posted, to me implying they don't have one. For the change if the character isn't an evolved human we put none and if he/she does but we don't know we put unknown Or, for example, Kaito's character bio we could put unk, see notes That's my two cents. -- Inblackestnight 23:57, 31 May 2010 (EDT)

It's only just now occurred to me. Assuming Heroes gets picked up for a fifth (and almost certainly final) season, and if they're smart enough to fast forward through most of 2010, we'll actually get a look at the dreaded year 2011, when everything seems to go wrong. Did any of you watch this fantastic show that ran from 2004 to 2007? Since activity on Heroes Wiki has slowed dramatically, I've decided to spread my wings: I've taken over The 4400 Wiki as an administrator and I've been working on the site for a couple of weeks now. We're still in the very early stages, and very few articles have been written, so any help we can get is appreciated. Any fans of this show may contribute, although admittedly Wikia's interface takes a bit of getting used to. NBC 'Fan It' Program Begins May 17, New Ad Campaign

NBC will be starting a new affinity program later today, May 17, called "Fan It". I'm hoping that there might be something related to Heroes in the program, though I wouldn't place good odds on it. You can read about it on the NBCUMV website, at MediaWeek, or ThingFo. According to the press release, it will be "allowing visitors to earn points by watching videos, chatting about shows, and sharing content with friends. The program requires fans to sign up to participate at http://www.NBC.com/fanit, though they can do so using their existing Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or MyNBC accounts.

As people accumulate points, they will be able to redeem them for various prizes, such as access to a yet-to-premiere series, NBC merchandise and entries to sweepstakes. To execute the Fan It program, NBC has partnered with the social media tracking company ThingFo Inc."

Fall Line-up

Well, the Fall Preview is up at nbc.com. It looks like Heroes lost to a show called The Event, that's trying really hard to be some kind of Lost/Flashforward show... gotta be honest, looking at the line-up, I think NBC is going to get flattened this year. --Ricard Desi 09:36, 17 May 2010 (EDT)

  • Yeah, nothing looks particularly interesting other than Chuck. Heroes Once Again

Now that Heroes has ended, I decided to do as if it was being published again or to recreate all contents of Heroes especially the Heroes 360 and Heroes Evolutions (including MySpace pages, blogs, graphic novels, iStories, webisodes etc.) in the exact same order it was done four years ago back in 2006. I've opened a Google group page called "Reexperience Heroes" where all the announcements about new episode airing, new graphic novel released etc. will be done. And the dates and hours it happened four years from now, will be exactly the same. So, today is July 21 2010, in the Reexperience Heroes we're in July 21 2006. Therefore we already have the MySpace pages of Claire and Zach. Past tense

Now that Heroes has ended, should we put articles into past tense? Episodes articles should stay present tense for the plots, as these should be read as though the reader is describing the show as it happens. For character articles, I think it would be best if they were all in past tense, but for crew and actor articles, they should all be in past tense as is is unlikely than many of us will be checking up one every one of there careers. Something every single one of you may be interested in (though unrelated to Heroes)

Hey guys, it's been a while. Figured I'd pop in and give you all a heads up about a show I just discovered that's caught my interest. It's a documentary show on the History Channel called Stan Lee's Superhumans. Basically the show is run by Stan Lee, who sends Daniel Browning Smith, a man who is considered to be the most flexible man in the world. He searches out humans across the world who are rumored to have "Super Powers", he witnesses them do their thing, and then he tries to find an explanation for the phenomenon. The first episode, for example, had a man who is able to absorb or conduct electrical current without sustaining any harm; a man who's brain works faster than a calculator; a 5'6" man able to snap steel, bend metal, and hold a motorcycle back with his hands, and a blind man who can navigate via echolocation. Another episode featured a man who could punch with more lethal force than a 30+MPH car crash. It's wild stuff, and though Heroes was a drama show, I'm sure enough of us are fans of Super Humans in general, so I'm positive most of you would enjoy it. I was watching the bonus dvd from season 2 and i noticed something in the deleted scenes.

He hase the abillity to see the variables of any situation and predict the outcome.

I miss you guys

Does anyone still edit around here (except for good old Ryan)? I've just spent half an hour browsing through the articles and discussions on this site out of boredom, and I've been feeling small blasts of nostalgia and a lingering sadness that Heroes has forever ended and, really, so has our little community of Heroes Wiki editors. The Event Wiki just doesn't seem to have picked up the same momentum that we had around here. Anyway, this is also a sort of shout-out to all those Heroes Wiki editors I've met and worked with throughout the years, since I never really said a proper thank-you. And hopefully, the next time a highly-anticipated superhero TV series premieres, I'll see you all again. --Radicell 03:05, 22 March 2011 (EDT)

I've been tangentially part of a few other wiki communities -- for shows I've enjoyed more -- and I never felt the same kind of camaraderie as I felt on HW. I know very few people are going to read this, but for the ones who do, there's a new show airing on Syfy called Alphas that has grabbed my attention. It seems similar to Heroes in many respects and I've been impressed by the pilot episode. This made me smile

So I was reading this interview with Rockstar Games' founder, Dan Houser. Look at the last question on the last page.

It's funny. I spoke with Tim Kring, the creator of the TV show Heroes, earlier this year, and even that show had so much mythology going on he said that the writers lost track. But thankfully, the fans were so obsessive they had basically put together a wiki, and the writers were pulling information from that.

DH: We do the same. I would be very surprised if anyone working on a long running thing like this that is popular these days isn't. The wiki is pretty good. For some of the older games, where I just want to remember a particular person's name or a particular brand or something, it's probably in our records, but some of the details stuff from the wiki is amazing and we love it.

Binge

Hey, everybody. The websites TV Binges & Primatech Files are going to do a Heroes binge on September 6 from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. They will be watching the episodes Genesis, Company Man, Five Years Gone, How to Stop an Exploding Man, Four Months Later..., 1961, and Brave New World. (What a great list!) Animated Gifs and 9thwonders.com

Sandubadear asked on Talk:Hachiro's ability about having a gif of Hachiro's ability being used to materialize Katana Girl (transform her into a physical person), and after I added some screenshots to the ability page Sandubadear told me on my talk page that the desire was really for a moving gif. As I am not comfortable making a moving gif for this ability, I asked Admin about making it, whether it was okay to do so here/elsewhere and if the wiki should have a policy on animated gifs in general for our documentation, etc., and noting that I saw some abilities animated like Tommy's in the new Tumblr blogs shown on the revised 9thwonders.com site. Admin pointed me to this community portal for my questions.

The wiki has had a category for Animations for a while, but we use them only sparingly in articles (most animations don't work inside a gallery). Hopefully, if this is allowed, someone else can help Sandubadear out.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:12, 9 November 2015 (EST)
