Feel free to check out a radical new fan fiction: Heroes: The Game. Each installment to the game is a "mission" for the player to complete. Visit the mission list to read the two missions that have already been written and released. Enjoy. --Radicell 04:47, 23 March 2010 (EDT) |

Anyone try out Google's new Chrome browser, yet? It looks pretty cool. You can read about it here. I haven't tried it yet; was wondering what other people thought.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:50, 3 September 2008 (EDT) |

* It's pretty fast, but it doesn't have any plugins that can block ads. So I'll be using Firefox until Google can fix that problem. Chrisyu357 06:52, 3 September 2008 (EDT) |
|||
** According to Chrome's help, it automatically stops pop-ups from creating their own window. However, there may be an ad blocker as a Gears extension (I'm not sure cause I can't find the list of Gears extensions; probably cause I haven't installed Gears). I can't use Chrome/Gears as it doesn't run on Windows2000.--MiamiVolts (talk) 09:22, 3 September 2008 (EDT) |

* I have no interest in it. It's unlikely to gain much traction and is likely just to end up being a fad. Google doesn't have a lot of focus and they put out a lot of projects that ultimately just end up failing, I think this will be another example. Despite the candy they put in there I don't think they have the focus to develop a full-featured, secure, reliable web browser when Firefox is already out there and meets all of these demands already. Google wants to try to leverage their services to provide you the experience they want you to have and I don't think it's going to succeed. Sure some people may use it and some people may think it's neat, but I think the novelty will wear off quickly and people will just return to their stable and reliable prior browser. ...and what are the odds Google's browser is going to let you block Google ads, eh? It would be stupid for them to block their own ads, but it would also be stupid of them to not let people block ads. The only reason Chrome even got any attention was because it was Google putting it out there. It's not really impressive in its own right and as I said I think the novelty (as well as the project) will fade quickly. (Admin 09:52, 3 September 2008 (EDT)) |
|||
** It can probably block pop-ups but it cannot hide the ads that are on the page itself (of which most are ads by Google). I've got a plugin in Firefox to do this, so yes, I like Firefox better. Chrisyu357 10:17, 3 September 2008 (EDT) |

**** Since it's open source and has extension capability like Firefox, such features will probably be added eventually. Their idea was to make it simple and secure. The problem for me, though, is that my Win2K machine can't run it and it doesn't look like they've any plans to add a Win2K version.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:41, 3 September 2008 (EDT) |

== Visions of Earth needs help! == |
||
Hey everyone! So as most of you probaly know, I am writing a fan fiction called "Visions of Earth", currently I am needing some help with the administrative side of it. E.g. Updating character histories, abilities etc. So, I am looking for someone who is interested in helping me. There shouldn't be too much work to do considering only one episode has been released. So if anyone is interested, please respond on my talk page! Thank you! :) -- 19:04, 26 March 2010 (EDT) |

Anyone heard about the UNICEF project Soccer Aid? It's a football (soccer) game with loads of famous celebrities to raise money for charity, and the match is actually being played right now! Only reason I bring it up is because Santiago Cabrera is playing for the Rest of the World team! Though I do of course encourage anyone to donate if they can :) -- 15:04, 7 September 2008 (EDT) |

Is there any way we could hide the summery untill say a week after it has come out, with say a Template:Characterbar kind of thing? Just I have to scrole down to read the novel. --Skywalkerrbf 13:29, 9 September 2008 (EDT) |

* I would not be in favor of hiding it. What link are you trying to get to in particular? The PDF or the interactive one by any chance? (Admin 13:57, 9 September 2008 (EDT)) |
|||
** Yer,the arobat reader one, its the best quality. Its not normaly a problem as the summery isn't put up for a few days, but it has spoiled me a few times. I would only have it hidden for say a week.--Skywalkerrbf 14:05, 9 September 2008 (EDT) |

***What about episodes when they air? I understand that you're going for the link, so don't look at the bottom of the page. I've been in the same situation, except I look at recent edits when I come to this site. So when I saw things like Evs Dropper clone, it should have spoiled me, but I had no context. I think consistency is important. It's not a spoiler once it's released, so there shouldn't be any hiding of any sort. -- 14:48, 9 September 2008 (EDT) |
|||
**** Exactly. It actually bugs me that a lot of sites still consider something a spoiler after it's been released. However, I understand not wanting to see the summary before reading the novel. A good solution is to click on the Adobe link that's in the GN section on the main page (it's above the little tiny infobox)--there's no GN summary on the main page. Otherwise, if you want the Adobe link, it's actually at the top of the GN page itself. It's in the light blue part of the infobox on the right. -- 15:15, 9 September 2008 (EDT) |

I just received permission from the episode transcriber (kilohoku) to post all of her scripts (with proper credit, of course). This is good news. I've already posted the first season on a blog. After I post the second season (probably tomorrow), I'll make the blog public and we'll go from there.<p>What this means is that if we want to continue posting transcripts, we'll have to do them ourselves from here on out. I am willing to post them, and to do some grammatical clean up, formatting, and proofreading, but I can't very well spend all my time actually transcribing them. I'll need others to do that. If you're willing, let me know. ryangibsonstewart at heroeswiki dot com. If we get enough people who are willing to help transcribe the episodes, we can organize it really nicely, and divvy up scenes for different transcribers. -- 02:18, 17 September 2008 (EDT) |

*** First off, I'm referring to Season 2, not 3. :) They're one season behind us. Secondly anytime there is a conflict of information between the US airing and another country, heroeswiki.com takes the US information. This is why all our episodes show their US air dates even though some aired in Canada the day before. On the localized wikis they're free to and encouraged to use whichever source would be most relevent for them. (Admin 15:36, 17 September 2008 (EDT)) |

* With season three less than 24 hours away we all have a lot to look forward to. This hiatus has been long, but fortunately the writers and artists have managed to keep breathing life into Heroes week after week with the graphic novels. I don't know of any other television series that puts so much commitment and time into its alternate reality (read: Evolutions) components. Because of their hard work this site has even continued to grow (albeit more slowly) during this long hiatus. With Season Three right around the corner we have a lot of work to do and things are going to start getting a lot busier around here. I've noticed in the past week the site activity has already started to climb again in anticipation of the new season. I'm very excited to see what this season has in store for this site. It's time to get back to business! :) (Admin 22:14, 21 September 2008 (EDT)) |

*** I know the server can handle quite a bit more than we've ever thrown at it (I made sure it was plenty powerful enough for future increases in traffic when I purchased it). Things around here are always a lot of fun when there is a lot of interest in the show. Each season we've grown quite a bit and I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for us this season. == DPL deprecation == |
|||
.... |
|||
Why can we not have a sweeping few paragraphs for the whole of volume 3 & 4 & 5 like we do for Season/Volume 1 & 2 rather than an episode by episode breakdown (which could be in its own article like "Claire Bennet: Season One History" and "Claire Bennet: Season Two History".)? |
|||
* The load on the server has been pretty high since the premiere. I did some testing and found that the DPL extension is at fault. When I disable DPL the system load decreases so dramatically it's not even funny. It just adds way much overhead and is going to prevent growth. I'd like anyone who's used DPL to re-evaluate the benefit of it in each place it's used (especially on any templates that might be widely transcluded). I want to remove it entirely, but if it will cause a massive amount of work to maintain a particular section of the site then I am slightly open to the possibility of using it in a very select number of places (like 1 or 2) if it still results in the load returning to an acceptable level. (Admin 15:52, 23 September 2008 (EDT)) |
|||
** Have you tested as to whether caching the DPL would reduce the server load? Maybe you could alter the DPL code to turn caching on by default? I think I can set up a few examples on the test server if that would help you. Also, it looks like DPL is on roads to become mainstay in the next wikimedia release so if we can work out any way to keep it, I think that would be good. DPL makes maintaining a lot of the portals much easier, and most production staff articles are using it for auto-updating. --MiamiVolts (talk) 00:37, 24 September 2008 (EDT) |
|||
*** When the load is higher later on I will see if turning on cached results improves performance significantly. I believe I can set the default globally rather than modifying all the DPL templates. It's promising... I didn't know DPL was bypassing the page cache each time by default. Good idea. (Admin 00:48, 24 September 2008 (EDT)) |
|||
**** Load crept up again tonight, so I enabled the caching and it's back down to a much nicer level. That seems to have done the trick at the moment. Good catch, Miami. (Admin 21:30, 29 September 2008 (EDT)) |

==5000+ users!== |

And finally my second idea. |
|||
== BBC == |
|||
Maybe we could have some articles on "Character X & Character Y History" Documenting the relationship between two different characters in the show history, so when two characters who do not normally meet (like Ando and Noah) there could be one article to tell us the relation and previous meeting of these characters. |
|||
Note when referring to the BBC as an entity in itself, it should always be preceded by the definite article. There's a lot of content on here which doesn't do this and it just looks and reads odd to someone from the UK. On the other hand, individual BBC channels (BBC Two (BBC2) and BBC Three (BBC3), or indeed people, departments or other features of the BBC do not require the definite article. Mintz 20:24, 9 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
* Thanks, Mintz, that's terrific information. In America, we refer to NBC without a definite article ("Heroes is shown on NBC," not "Heroes is shown on the NBC.") so it sounds like a language usage thing. If I come across any misuses, I'll certainly correct them. You might want to copy your note to Talk:BBC. Thanks so much for the fixes and the enlightenment! :) -- 20:39, 9 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
This would need a LOT of new articles (~30 characters in Heros, meaning we would have 900 new articles) But when we are watching season 5 (hoping there will be a season 5) we can instantly track previous characters interactions even if they barely met before. |

==About characters?== |

*So long as we don't append silly "Sythan" style names to the pages (but rather something like Connection:Nathan Petrelli and Sylar), I think this could be a really good idea. Lots of Season One's plot points revolved around stuff like this. --<font color=#609000>Ricard</font> <font color=#609000>Desi</font> 21:15, 10 April 2010 (EDT) |

Can someone explain exactly how the groups of Main, Supporting, and Recurring characters are decided? I mean Arthur Petrelli's just appeared in this one episode and he's already a recurring. Both Maury and Zimmerman have appeared in two Season 3 episodes, yet they don't even make the Characters list.Radicell 07:09, 16 October 2008 (EDT) |

** How would that be different from the content in Portal:Relationships?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:06, 10 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
* Main characters are designated by NBC--certain actors are principal actors, and the rest are not. I personally think we should do away with the "supporting" characters, and simply make it "main", "recurring", and "minor" (or "guest", if we're talking about actors). Then we could very clearly define each category: Main characters are designated by NBC, minor characters only appear once or twice (or three times, if that's what we decide), and everybody else is recurring. I think it would lead to a lot less confusion and a lot less speculation about who would be considered recurring and who wouldn't. Plus, the term "supporting" is very loaded. I say do away with it altogether, then clearly define each category. -- 12:56, 16 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
*** It wouldn't be a fan creation, first of all. -- 01:19, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
** I think the main reason for the supporting category is that it is the more common term used in Hollywood, especially at awards shows. I wouldn't mind merging the categories/portals of supporting and recurring, but only if we could agree to use "supporting" as the merged name.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:05, 16 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
****The only thing that's really stopping the relationships being a canon analysis is the names that we've given them. If they were renamed to Relationship:Hiro and Charlie for example, all the information and interactions come from canon sources and is canon. --mc_hammark 08:29, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
*** I don't care what we call it, though I'd prefer to call the actors "supporting" and the characters "recurring", sort of the way we call the actors "guest stars" and characters "minor characters"....But yes, I'm itching to simplify and define the designations. -- 18:55, 16 October 2008 (EDT) |

*****So we're basically looking at a massive move from all the corny fan creation names to "Connection/Relationship:X and Y", right?--<small><font color=blue>BOYCOOL</font></small> -- <big><font color=black>THE END IS NIGH.</font></big> 09:32, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
**** That makes sense. I'll second that suggestion.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:12, 16 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
******I simply don't think such articles are necessary. --Radicell 09:48, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
** I have to second this merging of recurring and supporting terms into one term. I would support going from minor to "the other category" after a second appearance. Yet, also we have to define what we mean by appearing, because we have these same categories for graphic novels as well. We already say the first appearance of a charcter is where they first appeared either on a GN or episode. Whatever we decide, I would suggest that we place these "rules/policies" on an article within Help:, I would suggest Help:Characters. I was looking around and saw Help:Layout/Characters (I updated it too, since it was a little old.) Maybe a subpage under Help:Layout might be find too, but it just needs to be somewhere that everyone can easily find the information. --Pinkkeith 14:18, 17 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
*I agree that we don't need to duplicate/change the articles. I think the Relationship articles are okay as they are. I've grown to like having them as fan creations.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:28, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
*** Making the criteria for being a recurring character (or supporting actor) be only appearing twice is too few times. That means people like Lynette, May, Kin Egami, Mark Spatney, and the CDC crew member (II) would all be considered recurring characters--and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I would make it three appearances to start, and see what we get. If we need to reevaluate, we can always move it to four. I don't think we should include graphic novel appearances--otherwise Bianca and Gael would be considered recurring characters, and they really aren't, are they? When we're talking about the episode minor character portal, let's just stick to episodic appearances...but great questions, and that's exactly the kind of stuff we should be considering and discussing. And yeah, we would add this information to a help page, I totally agree. -- 15:14, 17 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
** I'm also not a fan of adding 900 new articles that need to be maintained when we have a hard enough time maintaining the articles we already have in existence. So many of those silly relationship articles--which could serve the purposes stated above, despite being fan creation articles--are stubs, and are looong stubs, at that. Even the connections page could be beefed up, but that page really is rarely touched, so I'm afraid to see what would happen when we add 900 more pages like it. Ultimately, this would be a huge project, and one I'm not very excited about. If somebody would like to create it in their user space and then move it into the main namespace when it's all finished, that is something we can certainly discuss. However, I have a feeling that the massive size of this undertaking will prove overwhelming and not worth the effort. -- 16:37, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
**** My opinion is that 2 appearances would be better to be considered as recurring/supporting to start. If there are too many, we can always trim back. Also, it is important to note that being in a photo/painting or an actor's/character's voice being in a story doesn't count as an appearances. I'm not positive what we decided about being in a video such as the television news pieces, the wrestling and cooking shows, and Hana appearing on computers.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:30, 17 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
***That's the thing though, if it were to be done, it be a waste of memory. The relationships already exist and use only canon information. If we created these articles, the only reason they'd be canon and not fan creations is the name. As soon as we slap a fan made name on anything it becomes a fan creation. --mc_hammark 16:45, 11 April 2010 (EDT) |
|||
***** From what I can gather, photos and paintings and voices don't usually count as appearances (though of course a mention of the photo would go in the character's history, like the German in I Am Become Death). Videos do count (like Kaito's appearance in The Second Coming) and so do televised segments (like Angela Bromstad's entire appearance). I don't think Hana has ever appeared in a computer in an episode--and as far as I'm concerned, when she appeared in the computer in The End of Hana and Drucker, she was still alive. As well, dream appearances count--like Adam in Angela's dream from The Butterfly Effect. -- 16:11, 17 October 2008 (EDT) |
|||
****** In response to what RyanGibsonStewart said, then, why is Arthur Petrelli automatically a recurring character, then, with just one appearance? Didn't Micah only appear in one S3 episode, yet he's not on the list, neither is Maury, and he's appeared in two of them. |
|||
******* Well, under this definition, he wouldn't be a recurring character until he's appeared in X amount of episodes. We've never had a definition for these designations, and we still don't. We're brainstorming ideas and putting it out the the community before we make the changes. I didn't put him there, but I think Arthur was considered a supporting character way back in Season One, before he even appeared in a graphic novel. That's why we're discussing this--to come up with definitions and get feedback on how we're going to move forward, not on the mistakes and disorganization of the past. -- 01:08, 18 October 2008 (EDT) |

*This is my first time posting something here so please bear with me: I have a minor alteration request that I would like to run by the community and that is changing the character box on the right side where it says known ability to just ability because I find it a bit confusing for people we know have an ability, we just don't know what it is so none is posted, to me implying they don't have one. For the change if the character isn't an evolved human we put none and if he/she does but we don't know we put unknown Or, for example, Kaito's character bio we could put unk, see notes That's my two cents. -- Inblackestnight 23:57, 31 May 2010 (EDT) |

It's only just now occurred to me. Assuming Heroes gets picked up for a fifth (and almost certainly final) season, and if they're smart enough to fast forward through most of 2010, we'll actually get a look at the dreaded year 2011, when everything seems to go wrong. I wonder how they'll choose to address that? --<font color=#609000>Ricard</font> <font color=#609000>Desi</font> 12:25, 20 April 2010 (EDT) |

Note that I only included named animals (sorry, cockroach...hello, Mohinder the lizard!). I did not include future characters at all--though Hiro (explosion future) and Peter (exposed future) make the most appearances, with 4 and 3, respectively. I also only counted appearances for each season--that means that at the new season, the count would go back to zero. That's why Maury and Linderman's counts might seem off, or why somebody like Kin Egami isn't here at all. That also means that some people might be considered recurring in one season, but not in the next. Also note that some people (Sylar, Ando, Angela) were not main characters in earlier seasons, so they would be considered recurring. Likewise, somebody like D.L. is no longer a principal cast member, so he is included in the list for Season Two. This would apply to Elle, assuming she appears in another episode in the near future. |

Did any of you watch this fantastic show that ran from 2004 to 2007? Since activity on Heroes Wiki has slowed dramatically, I've decided to spread my wings: I've taken over The 4400 Wiki as an administrator and I've been working on the site for a couple of weeks now. We're still in the very early stages, and very few articles have been written, so any help we can get is appreciated. Any fans of this show may contribute, although admittedly Wikia's interface takes a bit of getting used to. And to those who haven't watched this show, I strongly recommend you do. --Radicell 09:11, 6 May 2010 (EDT) |

Personally, I think we should look at each season individually. Season Two was short, so we can one set of criteria for that season, and another set for other seasons. We really shouldn't have more than about 20 people in a portal (and those multi-page portals are really not very fun--they work well for the minor characters, but wouldn't be at all conducive to a recurring characters portal). I would say four appearances in Season One makes you a recurring character (which would mean 24 people would be in the portal), three appearances in Season Two makes you a recurring character (which would mean 21 people would be in the portal), and in Season Three it'll probably be four appearances...or maybe we'll decide to do it by volume. We can cross that bridge when we get to it. |

The other thing to consider is the people we would now be considering recurring characters, and those we wouldn't. Hana Gitelman doesn't make the cut at all. And since we're not including graphic novel appearances, neither would Gael or Bianca--and that's probably a good thing, since those three characters are mostly graphic novel characters anyway. I'm not crazy about the campaign manager's four appearances (same goes for Sheriff Davidson and Mr. Zern's three appearances), but I suppose that if we're trying to set rules and definitions, those characters do fit the bill. |

* I wanted to let everyone know about some upcoming changes to the ad placements here and get any feedback ahead of time. There will be two new ad placements: a 728x90 leaderboard at the top of every page and a 300x250 rectangular unit on the main page only (where "Next on Heroes" is currently... the "Next on Heroes" will be moving down one spot on the main page). The skyscaper ad down the left side and the 3 units at the bottom of every page will be going away. If this happens then the number of ads on the main page will remain the same and on every other page it will be reduced from 4 to 2. I can't go into too many details quite yet (so don't bother speculating), however I can say this change will be accompanied by something else very good for us. I know the ad placements will be a little more intrusive than we're used to. I purposely designed the original layout to be as discrete as possible while still maximizing the impressions we'd get per page. If anyone absolutely cannot stand the new placement then ad blockers are always a possibility, however leaving ad blockers turned off really helps benefit the site. Since we don't ask for donations or anything I figure it's a small price to pay in general. Plus when you see what accompanies these new ad placements I don't think you'll be disappointed. :) (Admin 14:04, 17 October 2008 (EDT)) |

** Admin, I think the new layout will be good. The large leaderboard at the top is not my favorite, but it's a small price to pay for a reduction in the amount of ads. You're very right, you have done a lot to maximize ad space without ever compromising the wiki. Ads have never been intrusive here, especially compared with other wikis and their growing amount of ads. I think this will be a very good thing. -- 14:17, 17 October 2008 (EDT) |

** I made a correction to my original message. The skyscraper will also be going away which means that we'll have 2 ads on the main page, and 1 (the leaderboard) on every other page. (Admin 17:16, 17 October 2008 (EDT)) |

**** With the new leaderboard and 300x250 ads that are a little more obtrusive I'm trying to compensate by removing other ads to hopefully provide a cleaner look with less advertising. NBC will be starting a new affinity program later today, May 17, called "Fan It". I'm hoping that there might be something related to Heroes in the program, though I wouldn't place good odds on it. You can read about it on the NBCUMV website, at MediaWeek, or ThingFo. According to the press release, it will be "allowing visitors to earn points by watching videos, chatting about shows, and sharing content with friends. The program requires fans to sign up to participate at http://www.NBC.com/fanit, though they can do so using their existing Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or MyNBC accounts. |
|||
As people accumulate points, they will be able to redeem them for various prizes, such as access to a yet-to-premiere series, NBC merchandise and entries to sweepstakes. To execute the Fan It program, NBC has partnered with the social media tracking company ThingFo Inc." |

Now that Heroes has ended, I decided to do as if it was being published again or to recreate all contents of Heroes especially the Heroes 360 and Heroes Evolutions (including MySpace pages, blogs, graphic novels, iStories, webisodes etc.) in the exact same order it was done four years ago back in 2006. I've opened a Google group page called "Reexperience Heroes" where all the announcements about new episode airing, new graphic novel released etc. will be done. And the dates and hours it happened four years from now, will be exactly the same. So, today is July 21 2010, in the Reexperience Heroes we're in July 21 2006. Therefore we already have the MySpace pages of Claire and Zach. Those who are interested can join the google group also add Claire and Zach as a friend and write comments :) -- 07:38, 21 July 2010 (EDT) |

Now that Heroes has ended, should we put articles into past tense? Episodes articles should stay present tense for the plots, as these should be read as though the reader is describing the show as it happens. For character articles, I think it would be best if they were all in past tense, but for crew and actor articles, they should all be in past tense as is is unlikely than many of us will be checking up one every one of there careers. Hey guys, it's been a while. Figured I'd pop in and give you all a heads up about a show I just discovered that's caught my interest. |
|||
It's a documentary show on the History Channel called Stan Lee's Superhumans. Basically the show is run by Stan Lee, who sends Daniel Browning Smith, a man who is considered to be the most flexible man in the world. He searches out humans across the world who are rumored to have "Super Powers", he witnesses them do their thing, and then he tries to find an explanation for the phenomenon. The first episode, for example, had a man who is able to absorb or conduct electrical current without sustaining any harm; a man who's brain works faster than a calculator; a 5'6" man able to snap steel, bend metal, and hold a motorcycle back with his hands, and a blind man who can navigate via echolocation. Another episode featured a man who could punch with more lethal force than a 30+MPH car crash. It's wild stuff, and though Heroes was a drama show, I'm sure enough of us are fans of Super Humans in general, so I'm positive most of you would enjoy it. Anyway, hope all is well here. :)--Riddler 01:52, 14 August 2010 (EDT) |

Does anyone still edit around here (except for good old Ryan)? I've just spent half an hour browsing through the articles and discussions on this site out of boredom, and I've been feeling small blasts of nostalgia and a lingering sadness that Heroes has forever ended and, really, so has our little community of Heroes Wiki editors. The Event Wiki just doesn't seem to have picked up the same momentum that we had around here. Anyway, this is also a sort of shout-out to all those Heroes Wiki editors I've met and worked with throughout the years, since I never really said a proper thank-you. And hopefully, the next time a highly-anticipated superhero TV series premieres, I'll see you all again. --Radicell 03:05, 22 March 2011 (EDT) |

* *sniff* Hey, Radicell. Good to see you around. Yeah, I'm not sure why The Event Wiki hasn't taken off, and more specifically I'm not sure why Heroes Wiki fostered such a neat community. I've been tangentially part of a few other wiki communities -- for shows I've enjoyed more -- and I never felt the same kind of camaraderie as I felt on HW. It's pretty cool to be part of something successful and quality like this site, and I miss it too. :) Ah, such is life... -- 11:07, 22 March 2011 (EDT) |

It's funny. I spoke with Tim Kring, the creator of the TV show Heroes, earlier this year, and even that show had so much mythology going on he said that the writers lost track. DH: We do the same. I would be very surprised if anyone working on a long running thing like this that is popular these days isn't. The wiki is pretty good. For some of the older games, where I just want to remember a particular person's name or a particular brand or something, it's probably in our records, but some of the details stuff from the wiki is amazing and we love it. |

Sandubadear asked on Talk:Hachiro's ability about having a gif of Hachiro's ability being used to materialize Katana Girl (transform her into a physical person), and after I added some screenshots to the ability page Sandubadear told me on my talk page that the desire was really for a moving gif. As I am not comfortable making a moving gif for this ability, I asked Admin about making it, whether it was okay to do so here/elsewhere and if the wiki should have a policy on animated gifs in general for our documentation, etc., and noting that I saw some abilities animated like Tommy's in the new Tumblr blogs shown on the revised 9thwonders.com site. Admin pointed me to this community portal for my questions. |

Visions of Earth needs help!
Thank you! :) --Leckie -- Talk 19:04, 26 March 2010 (EDT)
Few things that can be improved
Ok, first off, Great wiki, but i would improve a few things.
On the Character pages, we have (example)
Claire Bennett: Claire is daughter of Nathan, but adopted daughter of Noah. She can regenerate and blah blah blah
About Claire
She lived in Texas as a cheerleader...
Show History
In Season 1 Claire discovered her ability, ran away from sylar and gets held hostage by Ted, blah blah
In Season 2 Claire moves to Costa Verde and falls for West, blah
Then it goes
In Season 3 episode 1, claire does this
In Season 3 episode 2, we see claire for a slit second drinking tea
In Season 3 episode 3, claire does this and this ....
And finally my second idea.
Maybe we could have some articles on "Character X & Character Y History" Documenting the relationship between two different characters in the show history, so when two characters who do not normally meet (like Ando and Noah) there could be one article to tell us the relation and previous meeting of these characters.
This would need a LOT of new articles (~30 characters in Heros, meaning we would have 900 new articles) But when we are watching season 5 (hoping there will be a season 5) we can instantly track previous characters interactions even if they barely met before. Mr Hiro 21:01, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
EDIT: Damn it, no sooner have i finished complaining about Heroes wiki have i noticed Heroes wiki has already changed, looks like my first idea is already being implemented before i can even complain about it. Never mind, however i would still like to push my second idea. Mr Hiro 21:08, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
- So long as we don't append silly "Sythan" style names to the pages (but rather something like Connection:Nathan Petrelli and Sylar), I think this could be a really good idea. Lots of Season One's plot points revolved around stuff like this. --Ricard Desi 21:15, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
- How would that be different from the content in Portal:Relationships?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:06, 10 April 2010 (EDT)
- It wouldn't be a fan creation, first of all. --Boom D 83 01:19, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- The only thing that's really stopping the relationships being a canon analysis is the names that we've given them. If they were renamed to Relationship:Hiro and Charlie for example, all the information and interactions come from canon sources and is canon. --mc_hammark 08:29, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- So we're basically looking at a massive move from all the corny fan creation names to "Connection/Relationship:X and Y", right?--BOYCOOL -- THE END IS NIGH. 09:32, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- I simply don't think such articles are necessary. --Radicell 09:48, 11 April 2010 (EDT)

- I agree that we don't need to duplicate/change the articles. I think the Relationship articles are okay as they are. I've grown to like having them as fan creations.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:28, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- I'm also not a fan of adding 900 new articles that need to be maintained when we have a hard enough time maintaining the articles we already have in existence. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:37, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- That's the thing though, if it were to be done, it be a waste of memory. The relationships already exist and use only canon information. If we created these articles, the only reason they'd be canon and not fan creations is the name. As soon as we slap a fan made name on anything it becomes a fan creation. --mc_hammark 16:45, 11 April 2010 (EDT)

- This is my first time posting something here so please bear with me: I have a minor alteration request that I would like to run by the community and that is changing the character box on the right side where it says known ability to just ability because I find it a bit confusing for people we know have an ability, we just don't know what it is so none is posted, to me implying they don't have one. For the change if the character isn't an evolved human we put none and if he/she does but we don't know we put unknown Or, for example, Kaito's character bio we could put unk, see notes That's my two cents. -- Inblackestnight 23:57, 31 May 2010 (EDT)
The future is now
It's only just now occurred to me. Assuming Heroes gets picked up for a fifth (and almost certainly final) season, and if they're smart enough to fast forward through most of 2010, we'll actually get a look at the dreaded year 2011, when everything seems to go wrong. I wonder how they'll choose to address that? --Ricard Desi 12:25, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
- Well everything has been leading there since the beginning, so it would seem. Especially with Claire's most recent actions... --Skullman1392 23:49, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
Fans of The 4400
Did any of you watch this fantastic show that ran from 2004 to 2007? Since activity on Heroes Wiki has slowed dramatically, I've decided to spread my wings: I've taken over The 4400 Wiki as an administrator and I've been working on the site for a couple of weeks now. We're still in the very early stages, and very few articles have been written, so any help we can get is appreciated. Any fans of this show may contribute, although admittedly Wikia's interface takes a bit of getting used to. And to those who haven't watched this show, I strongly recommend you do. --Radicell 09:11, 6 May 2010 (EDT)

NBC 'Fan It' Program Begins May 17, New Ad Campaign
NBC will be starting a new affinity program later today, May 17, called "Fan It". I'm hoping that there might be something related to Heroes in the program, though I wouldn't place good odds on it. You can read about it on the NBCUMV website, at MediaWeek, or ThingFo. According to the press release, it will be "allowing visitors to earn points by watching videos, chatting about shows, and sharing content with friends. The program requires fans to sign up to participate at http://www.NBC.com/fanit, though they can do so using their existing Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or MyNBC accounts.
As people accumulate points, they will be able to redeem them for various prizes, such as access to a yet-to-premiere series, NBC merchandise and entries to sweepstakes. To execute the Fan It program, NBC has partnered with the social media tracking company ThingFo Inc."
Also, "the network will kick off an ad blitz that includes a whopping 19 Microsoft properties and partners, ranging from MSN to Bing to Glo to various Xbox games. As part of the elaborate sponsorship package—which will run through Sept. 20—NBC and Microsoft have collaborated on “Preview to Fall TV” microsite within MSN TV. In addition, NBC will promote its new lineup via Wonderwall, Windows Messenger, and various mobile and social media platforms."--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:05, 17 May 2010 (EDT)
Fall Line-up
Well, the Fall Preview is up at nbc.com. It looks like Heroes lost to a show called The Event, that's trying really hard to be some kind of Lost/Flashforward show... gotta be honest, looking at the line-up, I think NBC is going to get flattened this year. --Ricard Desi 09:36, 17 May 2010 (EDT)
- Yeah, nothing looks particularly interesting other than Chuck. What could happen is, if none of these new shows get much viewings, NBC might bring back Heroes, or give them a few years out then bring them back, because although the fan base is small, it is a solid fan base. --mc_hammark 10:47, 17 May 2010 (EDT)

--Radicell 03:05, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
- *sniff* Hey, Radicell. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:07, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
Alphas
I know very few people are going to read this, but for the ones who do, there's a new show airing on Syfy called Alphas that has grabbed my attention. It seems similar to Heroes in many respects and I've been impressed by the pilot episode. Just a note for anyone who's interested: there's an Alphas Wiki that looks like it'd be fun to edit. --Radicell 23:13, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
- Cool, thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:27, 16 July 2011 (EDT)
This made me smile
So I was reading this interview with Rockstar Games' founder, Dan Houser. Look at the last question on the last page.
It's funny. I spoke with Tim Kring, the creator of the TV show Heroes, earlier this year, and even that show had so much mythology going on he said that the writers lost track. But thankfully, the fans were so obsessive they had basically put together a wiki, and the writers were pulling information from that.

- That's great! Thanks, Radicell! Here's a tweet on the original interview. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:11, 10 January 2012 (EST)
Binge
Hey, everybody. The websites TV Binges & Primatech Files are going to do a Heroes binge on September 6 from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. They will be watching the episodes Genesis, Company Man, Five Years Gone, How to Stop an Exploding Man, Four Months Later..., 1961, and Brave New World. (What a great list!) It'll be a neat fan community event on Twitter. Details can be found at this link. Just thought I'd pass this along! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:55, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
Animated Gifs and 9thwonders.com
The wiki has had a category for Animations for a while, but we use them only sparingly in articles (most animations don't work inside a gallery). Hopefully, if this is allowed, someone else can help Sandubadear out.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:12, 9 November 2015 (EST)
- Used sparingly, it's allowed, especially for something like showing how an ability's special effect is displayed. I can't help with making the animation though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:13, 9 November 2015 (EST)
- I agree, and I also do not make animated gifs. Should any more be created I would just suggest that they try to limit to the fewest number of frames necessary to accurately demonstrate the idea in question. (Admin (talk) 20:46, 9 November 2015 (EST))
- Thanks, hopefully someone else will volunteer to help Sandubadear out. Regarding the blogs, for reference, there is the NBC Heroes Reborn Tumblr blog (nbcheroes.tumblr.com)(add this to links?), and there is the NBC 9thwonders Tumblr blog (nbc9thwonders.tumblr.com), which redirects to 9thwonders.com and appears to be a blog with posts from different blogs. The example I noted above of showing Tommy's ability appears to be an official reblog at 9thwonders.com/post/126125489081 (lower right animation) of another user's blog post: endiness.tumblr.com/post/123935456172.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:06, 10 November 2015 (EST)
