Adam Monroe was a mercenary commander in the American Revolutionary War.
About
Beginning in 1775 and ending in 1783, the Revolutionary War (or the American War of Independence) was fought between Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in North America. Despite Britain's superior army, established world domination, and strong financial support, casualties were surprisingly equal on both sides: on the colonies' side, an estimated 25,000 were killed or died of disease, and 25,000 were wounded. On Britain's side, about 24,000 were killed or died of disease, and 20,000 wounded. However, the colonies eventually proved the victors, the Treaty of Paris was signed, and a new nation--the United States of America--was born.
