Story Arcs

Is there some way we can show story arcs among the episodes? While reading the Wikipedia article on Heroes, I noticed that "the first four episodes were dubbed 'Ordinary people discovering extraordinary abilities.'" I would say the next five eps would be called "Save the cheerleader, save the world" (though I'm sure others have just as valid opinions). Maybe it's too early, but is there any way to show these story arcs? ... Just a thought ... Ryangibsonstewart 18:49, 25 November 2006 (EST)

Grid Format

The grid fortmat looked pretty bad. Sorry to say :(. This looks cleaner and nicer, in my opinion. ---- Ohmyn0.jpgOhmyn0talk.jpg 17:10, 8 December 2006 (EST)

  • It renders badly at some res, according to some folks. The table is more consistent with similar articles, like powers, too. The blank thumbnails look dumb. We should at least switch to just a fixed pixel width without the thumb.--Hardvice (talk) 01:20, 9 December 2006 (EST)

  • The trouble with relying on "two lines or less" is they aren't always going to be two lines or less, depending on the end user's screen res. I try to test any pages with complicated formatting or left-and-right floated images at everything from 800x600 up to 1600x1200, and at 16:9 and 4:3. I wouldn't recommend forcing an image which appears alongside text to anything bigger than 200px or once you factor the sidebar in it ends up taking up the whole screen for our resolution-challenged visitors. That's also why I'm so anal about not forcing thumb widths unless it's necessary (and "necessary" means in a table or list of like-sized images): some people don't want to see a 300px image, and when they've explicitly set their preferences to say so, we ought to respect that whenever possible.--Hardvice (talk) 02:13, 9 December 2006 (EST)
    • Totally agree - I think many don't know that thumbnail size can be changed in the preferences, and that's possibly why some editors are fixing px width. I think it's fine to fix text so it wraps to the default, but realizing that others may see thumbs at different sizes. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:22, 9 December 2006 (EST)

Episode Blurb

The blurb with the episode titles looks very nice, but isn't it kind of redundant? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:31, 20 January 2007 (EST)

It's a table of contents... the links are to the sections below it. (Admin 18:33, 20 January 2007 (EST))
Ah yes, very cool. Perhaps I should actually click links first, eh? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:37, 20 January 2007 (EST)

How many?

How many episodes are supposed to be in season one? --Xmuskrat 15:58, 5 March 2007 (EST)

  • 23. They originally ordered 22, but NBC asked for an extra one.--Hardvice (talk) 16:13, 5 March 2007 (EST)
    • The season finale will be a two-hour episode. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:45, 5 March 2007 (EST)
      • Thanks for the info! --Xmuskrat 09:17, 6 March 2007 (EST)

Last 5 episodes

When will the titles of the last 5 episodes be released? --Xmuskrat 14:47, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

  • The formal summaries from NBC usually come out a few weeks before the episode airs (just before the episodes start showing up in listings like TVGuide). The title of the next episode, .07%, has been reported several reliable places, but the announcement from NBC hasn't been released yet, so it still might change.--Hardvice (talk) 15:16, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

Creating New Spoiler Pages

Would this be the right way to do it? Edit/Create Spoiler:Episode 22] and put in there that the next hero is supposed to die in this episode? or do we have to wait for an announced episode title? --Xmuskrat 10:03, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

  • I don't think any spoilers about episode 22 have been released yet. Heroe 10:13, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
    • That's because I'm not sure which page to post and source them on. If I knew for sure where to post them, you'd see some with sources. For instance, this episode 22 spoiler. --Xmuskrat 10:17, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
      • Ugh, Kristin Veitch ... she's so, um, reliable, isn't she? :) ... I'd wait to make a page until we confirmation on the title of episode 22. I think we ran into the same problem when we had spoilers, but no titles, for some of the last few episodes. In the meantime, you've posted published spoilers in the right spot. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:09, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
        • Well, I have seen video of her with cast members, etc. That's more then most spoiler sites. At least you know she's somewhat of an insider. --Xmuskrat 08:39, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

Season 2

Ok, what are we going to do with the character histories once we're in season two? Are we gonna make another article, like "Season one character history" or what? Heroe 10:18, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

  • Yes, something like that. We'll wait until the summer, though. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:03, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

I switched all the images to the titles, rather than the lead images. Its kind of neat to see them all together, but not all of them are completely legible (aHEM! 7m2m). Thoughts? ---- Ohmyn0.jpgOhmyn0talk.jpg 23:58, 25 March 2007 (EDT)

  • Yeah, I have a thought, why not sign your name instead of a black bar (and if that black bar turns out to actually mean something, here is a hint: With letters people can scale to actually make it readable) IceHunter
  • You shouldn't make a drastic change without starting a conversation...I'll leave it to someone with more authority to make a decision on this. I personally think it's redundant to show the title right next to a picture with the same text. --Bob 00:22, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
    • "Drastic" - maybe. But easy to change. Its also one of those things where the conversation is better after actually seeing it. ---- Ohmyn0.jpgOhmyn0talk.jpg 00:34, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
      • Ditto. It's a pretty easy change to undo compared to stuff like renaming categories, and being able to see both versions makes it easier to discuss--except that in this case, I honestly don't have any strong feelings one way or the other.--Hardvice (talk) 02:36, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
        • It was fun to see, but I'm not a big fan of it. I'd much prefer the images that are more representative of the episode rather than the title. I can look above the blurb for that, though. The one thing I really did like was that the episode title pics show the episode number, which would be a really handy resource. I'd like to see the episode number added to the blurbs, maybe right next to the episode date. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:18, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
          • I changed the images back and added the chapter numbers. However, I am going to start working on a page that will include all the Episode title images - here ---- Ohmyn0.jpgOhmyn0talk.jpg 16:33, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
            • Now there's a fun page! ... I like the changes you made, adding the chapter numbers. Well done. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:16, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Rename - "Volume One"

Seeing as they clearly named the first season as "Volume One", and the second season as "Volume Two" - I propose a name change to Volume One. ---- Ohmyn0.jpgOhmyn0talk.jpg 12:25, 22 May 2007 (EDT)

  • Actually, they are planning two volumes/storylines for Season Two. Season One's storyline was called Genesis and was all about the events required to stop the bomb.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:05, 22 May 2007 (EDT)
  • Season Two will probably include Volumes 2 and 3, so though it might be good to change this article to "Volume One: Genesis" or something, that is changing the meaning of the title. Alexwill 00:05, 23 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Well if that's true, you should still have a page for each volume, as well as season. Season pages could be written this way, and Volume ones maybe just an overview on what happened in that volume or something. Technically Season One includes all of Volume One and about a minute of Volume Two.--Tim Thomason 23:39, 24 May 2007 (EDT)
  • You could always have it saying "Season 1 : Volume 1", "season 2 : Volume 2" and "Season 2 : Volume 3"?
    • I like that idea better.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:21, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
    • I support that idea (probably Season Two:Volume Two and Season Two: Volume Three to fit with the spelling out of numbers seen onscreen).--Tim Thomason 19:58, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
    • I think that Season One: Volume One would be a good idea support Alex W (talk) 20:12, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
    • I second that support Andrewzors 23:31, 26 May 2007 (EDT)
  • Can't speak for the Admin, but thought I'd note that based on Admin's recent decision to put season one histories into subpages, it's probably likely and best to go with "Season One/Volume One", "Season Two/Volume Two", "Season Two/Volume Three", etc.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:27, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
  • I would recommend breaking it down by season since that's how most people are likely to think of it. Then within the article having different sections for each volume in the event that there are multiple volumes in a given season. Subpages are good when we have lots of information that we don't want to clutter up the main article with, but there will be pretty much the same number of episodes per season (regardless of how many volumes they're split into) and the Season One article doesn't look too cluttered. (Admin 20:36, 25 May 2007 (EDT))

Characters history

Shouldn't we add to this page , as we did with the episodes blurb, a link to each season one's character history ?

  • We could do something like this :

Characters Histories
See bellow for each character episodic season one summary.

Claire Bennet
Noah Bennet
Sandra Bennet
Simone Deveaux
The Haitian
D.L. Hawkins
Ando Masahashi

Isaac Mendez
Hiro Nakamura
Matt Parkman
Janice Parkman
Angela Petrelli
Nathan Petrelli
Peter Petrelli

Jessica Sanders
Micah Sanders
Niki Sanders
Mohinder Suresh
Candice Willmer

  • It looks very nice, but I personally don't think it's necessary since this is a page about the Season One episodes, and not the Season One histories of a few select characters. But that's just my opinion. I don't want to discourage something just because I don't think it's necessary--maybe somebody else feels differently? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:59, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
  • Anothing thing; I was thinking, for minors characters such as Simon Petrelli that have a season one history of 3 or 4 episodes; if we don't create a subpage /season_one; shouldn't we add a ===Season One=== tag in the Character History section ? So that we can separate s1 and s2 histories and make things more clear.

-- Frenchflo.gif (talk) 04:02, 16 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Well, it's not a bad idea, but it's so simple that I figured we would add those headers when we started doing the Season Two stuff. Not ahead of time.--MiamiVolts (talk) 08:03, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
  • Yeah got you... That's true it would be a massive edit... Well, I don't know, but imagine; if we have numerous seasons; are we going to have a list of many episodes on minors/items' page without kwowing which episode is from which season ? I think we need a real discussion about that before it's too late. I was thinking about something in the episode title; such as : Genesis (s1) but it's kinda heavy ... Well I don't know; I'm just scared (I know it's a little too much but I don't know the right word) that our readers will be lost when too much episode will be released. -- Frenchflo.gif (talk) 08:09, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
  • Right, it's a great point. There's advantages and disadvantages to both options...which is why I'd rather not make a decision, but have others weigh in. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:51, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
  • When it links to the episode in the history section, shouldn't the episode page have some reference to the fact that it's in season one? Most certainly it's categorized and will have references to season one, etc. --Bob 16:01, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
  • ...and the infoboxes for the episode pages denote to which season the episode belongs. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:29, 16 August 2007 (EDT)

Volume One = Genesis?

  • Do we ever explicitly see Volume One called Genesis anywhere? In the pilot it says "Chapter 1: Genesis", but where did we get that Volume One was named Genesis as well? (Admin 13:33, 24 September 2007 (EDT))
    • I've heard Kring reference it as Genesis when talking about Volume One. He said in the pilot, it said Volume One, Genesis, thus Volume Two starts with the second season. It was in whatever interview he explains that Season 2 may have more than one volume in it.--Bob 14:23, 24 September 2007 (EDT)
      • I'll second that, but it would take me some time to dig up a link to the specific article. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:24, 24 September 2007 (EDT)
        • For posterity, here's an interview with Tim Kring where he says that Volume 1 was named "Genesis" and Volume 2 is named "Generations". (Admin 15:58, 24 September 2007 (EDT))

Season navbar

Anyone want to make a season navbar to include on this page, Season Two and Heroes:Origins?--Bob (talk) 03:37, 25 October 2007 (EDT)

  • I'll do it. I don't understand entirely what you mean though.... what should it be like?--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  03:59, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
    • It'd probably look a bit like, say, Template:Theme--but titled "Seasons" and listing Season One and Season Two.--Hardvice (talk) 04:01, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
      • Should I include Heroes Evolutions and the BBC Two Bridget Bailey stuff on there as well?--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  04:02, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
        • Hmm. Probably not, since it's for a list of seasons. But maybe Heroes Evolutions and Graphic Novels could go in See Also.--Hardvice (talk) 04:15, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
          • Well, I made this right before I saw your comment, so Heroes Evolutions and Bridget Bailey are in there. I'll go replace Bridget with Graphic Novels.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  04:18, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
            • Yeah, we've got Bridget under Heroes Evolutions, so she's covered. Looks good. The only thing I worry about is calling them "volumes". Since Season Two will include Volumes 2 and 3, we'll have two links to Season Two if we go by volume. Not a problem, but we need to make sure we link directly to the appropriate section (like this: Volume Two). Of course, it will also look a little weird because both Volume Two and Volume Three will be bold and unclickable when you're on Season Two. Hmm...--Hardvice (talk) 04:24, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
              • Fair enough. We could always just, when the time comes, make seperate pages for Volumes 2 and 3? I'll go make those changes you suggested, then move into mainspace.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  04:29, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
                • The trouble with splitting volume one and two on separate pages is that this category is for seasons, and a ton of other things (portals, navbars, etc.) link here based on the season, not the volume.--Hardvice (talk) 04:32, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
                  • Okay. Well, this is one of those cross-that-bridge-when-we-come-to-it things. Incidentally, on the Season Two page, the link to Volume Two is not bold and unclickable....--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  04:35, 25 October 2007 (EDT)
                    • Yeah, that's annoying. We should probably just switch to Seasons on the navbar, since that's what the category actually contains.--Hardvice (talk) 04:36, 25 October 2007 (EDT)

Just an idea.

And it's probably not even worth mentioning, but I thought it'd be pretty good; should we change the lead images to those on the DVD? For example, Fallout was a picture of exploding Peter.--Riddler 11:45, 28 October 2007 (EDT)

  • Hm?--Riddler 23:16, 10 November 2007 (EST)
    • I like the images we have. Changing them might also mean changing the images other places they're used, since they're not only used as the lead image for episodes. Also, our purposes on the site are a bit different than the purposes on the DVD. I'm not opposed to a change, I just don't see the need. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:38, 10 November 2007 (EST)

would anyone mind guiding me to the article (might be a user subpage) that showed how many appearances each character had for the whole season? it was like the ones on Appear but was for the whole season and listed every character. - Tristan0709 talk 20:13, 20 December 2008 (EST)

I am doing a subpage and I need help with something. I need either

  1. The one image which sums up season one for you.
  2. The image which you think is the best in season one.
  3. The image which is the most exciting from season one.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks a lot --IronyUTC CH 13:57, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
