Our Heroes were pursued, hunted, and imprisoned during the course of FUGITIVES -- during which a mysterious entity appeared, calling itself REBEL. Rebel worked to both direct and aid our Heroes in their struggles. During the attempt to save Tracy, it was Micah Sanders who was outed as the face of Rebel. But what twists of fate turned Micah from a young boy mourning his mother's death into the insurrectionist force known as Rebel? Was he working alone? And what became of the rest of his family? What planted those initial seeds of...

Summary

Monica Dawson is using her powers to help the people of New Orleans, with Micah Sanders communicating with her and using his technopathy to help her out. After thwarting a burglary attempt, Micah helps Monica escape police and they both head home separately. Over his com, Micah hears the sound of Monica under attack. At home, he finds the house empty and uses his power to learn that Monica and Nana were taken by agents, along with Damon who the agents believed to be Micah. Micah heads back to his school computer and accessed video footage of the captives being loaded onto Flight 195. He also finds a list of the captives aboard the plane, including Monica, Nana, Flint, Hiro, Matt, Peter, Sparrow Redhouse, Mohinder and Tracy. Claire and Sylar are also shown and Micah wonders why Claire has been released. Micah then goes to work on the computer, using his power to begin erasing information while he listens to the plane going down in tears.

Notes

• This graphic novel indicates that Monica Dawson, Nana Dawson, Sparrow Redhouse and Flint Gordon, Jr. were among the fugitives on Flight 195.
• The episode is set during A Clear and Present Danger.
• The row of hooded heroes seen in the panel where they are loaded onto the plane do not have goggles and earmuffs and have their hands behind their backs unlike the episode it's set during the events of where all of them have their hands in front of them and have goggles and earmuffs.
• It is also possible the row of hooded prisoners shown in the panel included Monica and Nana.
• It is never explained (not in this comic or in the others) why Damon was never put onboard Flight 195. While according to the transport list of the plane's passengers, Damon's (confused for Micah) status is listed as "Pending", implying the capture team realized their error, it still doesn't explain why he wasn't on the plane and it only raises the question of why he was taken to another place when he, Monica and Nana were taken at the same time. Especially since they were the last of the plane's intended passengers to be abducted. The best possible reason might have been because as all the hooded prisoners in A Clear and Present Danger were clearly portrayed by young adults at the youngest, saying that a preteen was among them might've been rather jarring.
  • Damon's aforementioned status might've also been due to said unintended capture. Though if that's true, why they never tried hypnotizing him or some other way instead of taking him to another facility is another story. And unlike Sandra and Lyle during Claire's second attempted capture, who were unharmed, Damon stays captured until Micah and his team rescue him (and Nana) in a later novel.
• Judging by the presence of her name on the transport list, Claire was supposed to be transported on Flight 195 before being given a free pass. However, in the episode the graphic novel's set during, there are no empty seats seen on the plane. This might be because since Danko realized he captured his boss' daughter, he told the crew setting up the plane to take out two seats (one for her, the other for Damon, who was mistaken for Micah).

Trivia

• The rebel yell was a battle cry used by Confederate soldiers during the American Civil War.
• Rebel Yell was also the title of Billy Idol's second album, featuring a song of the same name. The song's chorus is, "In the midnight hour, she cried, 'More, more, more," much like the NBC's tagline for this graphic novel.
