Lyle Bennet is Claire's brother. While Claire was adopted, Lyle's adoptive status is unclear.

Character History

Genesis

Lyle sits at the table eating with Claire and his mother, and remarks that he and a friend named Doug saw what appeared to be a dead homeless Mexican man on the street, but that he turned out to be alive. He also sarcastically comments on Mr. Muggles humping his leg and that he isn't looking forward to his father seeing his report card.

When Claire tells him that she had walked through fire and was not burned, he responds with hostility, saying "God, you're so crazy sometimes."

Collision

After Claire has a conversation with their father, Lyle sees Claire in a distraught state and informs her that their mother wants him to tell Claire that the waffles are ready. Claire responds tearfully that she'll be there in a minute, and Lyle stares at her concernedly until he leaves.

Nothing to Hide

While Lyle takes a piece of pizza in the Bennet kitchen he discovers the videotape that Zach had brought back to Claire. Claire later catches Lyle watching it and attempts to convince him that it was just special effects. Lyle does not believe her, staples her hand, and watches in horror as her healing powers manifest. He locks himself into the Bennet SUV and threatens to upload the videotape to YouTube and "make a million dollars". He calls his sister a "freak" and an "alien" and threatens to tell their parents about her. After a heartfelt plea from his sister he gives the tape back to her and gets out of the car. His sister gives him a hug but he, still in shock, does not hug her back.

Fallout

After Claire explains her power to her father and tells him that Zach and Lyle are both aware of her gift, Mr. Bennet leaves, saying that he needs to pick Lyle up from soccer practice. When Claire speaks with Lyle later, she tells him that now their father knows about her ability. Lyle is confused by this, having no idea what she is talking about. Claire says that she can not be injured, so Lyle punches her in the arm. When she asks if their father had spoken with him when he went to pick him up from practice, he says he hasn't seen him. She then asks how he got home, which he also cannot remember.

Distractions

Sandra says that Lyle is at a Tae Kwon Do sleepover.

Unexpected

Lyle tells Claire, who is looking for their father, that he is off on one of his business trips. Claire asks her mom if she remembers Lyle; Lyle teases Claire because he thinks her question is silly. Later, Lyle visits his mom at the hospital. Mr. Bennet tells Claire and Lyle that she'll be okay. Claire remarks that it's no thanks to him, and Lyle tells Claire to "shut up". When the Bennets return home, Lyle helps his mom upstairs. When Ted appears, Mr. Bennet tells Lyle to take her mother and get out of the house immediately; he is stopped by Matt.

Company Man

Lyle and his family come home and are taken hostage by Ted Sprague and Matt Parkman. Lyle witnesses Matt's apparently fatal shooting of Claire, and when Mr. Bennet and Matt remove her body to her upstairs bedroom, Lyle attempts to assault Ted with a baseball bat. Lyle is overpowered and he and his mother are tied together with duct tape. A regenerated Claire sneaks into the living room to free them, and Lyle slips safely outside while Claire and Mrs. Bennet are detained by Ted. While outside, Lyle holds Mr. Muggles and calls the police. He is soon reunited with his family, and watches as his house explodes and Claire emerges from the fiery wreckage.

Parasite

As his parents talk, Lyle watches Pay-Per-View in the other room of their hotel suite.

Graphic Novel:Family Man

Mr. and Mrs. Bennet hold Lyle as their house burns down. He watches his sister regenerate.

Four Months Later...

Lyle, his mother, his father, Mr. Muggles, and his sister sit down for dinner at their new home in Costa Verde, CA.

The Kindness of Strangers

During dinner, after Claire says she can't go out with the family for dessert because she has to go to the library for a research paper, Lyle mockingly asks her whether she's heard of the Internet. When Claire hesitates after their father asks her whether she needs a ride to the library, Lyle reminds her that her car was stolen.

Out of Time

At breakfast at the Bennets' home, Sandra Bennet calls out to Lyle to get his butt out of bed.

Later at their home while Mr. Bennet and Claire are having an argument over Claire's relationship with West, Lyle asks what Claire has done this time. Claire angrily tells him to shut up.

Cautionary Tales

Lyle helps his mother and father pack to leave town. Then, when Claire confronts Noah about his past with the Company, he calls Claire crazy.

Truth & Consequences

Lyle watches as Bob pays his family a visit and his mom threatens Bob with her gun. Later, Lyle is with his family and West on a beach as they say goodbye to Noah Bennet.

Powerless

When Noah turns out to be alive, Lyle and the rest of the family listen to him explain that they will be safe because of a deal he made with the Company, and that he will go back with the Company as a part of the deal.

Graphic Novel:Normal Lives

In a diner with his family, Lyle tells Marcus he'd like to order a cheeseburger and fries. That night, Lyle watches TV along with his sister while his dad and mom discuss Noah's obligations to the family, mainly Mr. Muggles. The next morning, while they're driving down the road, Lyle asks what happened to his bat.

The Second Coming

Lyle arrives home with his mother to find a shaken Claire, shortly after Sylar steals her ability.

One of Us, One of Them

As Meredith attempts to light a cigarette, Lyle notifies his mother, who tells Meredith that they don't smoke in the house. Lyle attempts to make conversation by asking Meredith if she's Claire's real mom, to which Sandra replies that she's just her biological mom. Meredith says that he's here to protect the Bennets while Noah is away, and Lyle inquires incredulously whether she plans to do that with fire.

Dying of the Light

In an attempt to distract Eric Doyle while Claire rescues Meredith, Sandra refers to her nonexistent six-year-old son as Lyle, and says that he loves puppets.

Eris Quod Sum

Lyle is attacked in his home by Elle Bishop, whose powers are out of control. He is discovered on the floor by Claire, to whom he tells, "Bitch is back." Lyle then rescues Claire by throwing a bucket of water on Elle.

Lyle is writhing painfully on the floor of his home after Elle shocks him.

Building 26

Lyle eats breakfast with his family as they discuss Noah's new job. He asks Noah about what a consultant does. Noah tells him that he consults people's strategies, and Lyle acknowledges his answer with an awkward nod.

Exposed

Sandra takes away Lyle's license with the excuse of a C- on a history test in order to create a fake ID for Alex, but comments that he's a bad driver anyway. He later helps Alex escape by creating a distraction for him with Sandra.

Shades of Gray

Lyle is sitting on the sofa next to his mother and Mr Muggles, when SWAT agents burst into the house, looking for Claire.

Turn and Face the Strange

Lyle calls his mother to ask where Mr. Muggles' medication is.

An Invisible Thread

Sylar tells Claire that everybody dies eventually. He then refers to Lyle as "Larry". Once corrected by Claire, he says that he'll die too.

Ink

Claire tells Noah that she is homesick, and that she even misses Lyle.

Acceptance

Lyle can be seen in a family photo on a table in Noah's apartment.

Heroes Evolutions

The Agent

In chapter 4 of The Agent, Lyle wears a hooded jacket and rides with Sandra in Claire's car. When Rachel Mills and Jason stop the car thinking it is Claire and Alex, Lyle is silent as Sandra talks with Rachel and claims she is taking her son to a movie.

Faction Zero

In chapter 4 of Faction Zero, Lyle comes out of his home to congratulate Claire on being accepted to college. Later, he and Rachel banter over the historical accuracy of a video game that uses features M16A2s instead of M16A4s.

• Mrs. Bennet believes her son is a bit of a hypochondriac. (Better Halves)
• In a deleted scene for Nothing to Hide, Claire makes a comment to Lyle, saying, "Sometimes it's nice to know that we're both adopted."
• In the episode Distractions, Mrs. Bennet states that Lyle is at a taekwondo sleepover (he has also been known to play football).

Trivia

• The closing credits for Genesis incorrectly spelled Lyle's name Lyle Bennett. All subsequent episodes have spelled the name correctly, with just one t.
• In the script for the unaired pilot, Lyle is listed as being 14 years old.
• According to Sandra, Lyle is a bad driver. (Exposed)
• Lyle's driver license lists his weight as 155 and his height as 5'9". It also notes his brown hair and green eyes. (Exposed)
