Sylar's Shirt

Did anyone notice how Sylar's shirt looks very "designed" for just being blood from his neck?

I want it, it's awesome - Arkillion

And can someone put my caps on the Images for this episode?

What do we do about Sylar's lineage?

Does Noah's word outrank Arthur's/Angela's? All seem to have equal motives to lie at this point. --Stevehim 22:12, 1 December 2008 (EST)

  • I have no idea... I think it's best that we leave it the way it is for now, until more concrete evidence other than Noah's word comes into play. Plus, Peter is still apparently Gabriel's brother in the future. Finally, it's the word of Arthur and Angela against Noah... Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:23, 1 December 2008 (EST)
    • Agree. Leave it alone for now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:09, 1 December 2008 (EST)
      • can we put "Currently unknown"?--Anthony Gooch 23:15, 1 December 2008 (EST)
        • Leave it the way it is for now. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 23:24, 1 December 2008 (EST)
      • I agree we should leave it the way it is for the moment, but wanted to broach the subject, as the canonicity is a tenuous matter. --Stevehim 23:31, 1 December 2008 (EST)

Lead image?

Not entirely sure what we should use for the lead image... using an eclipse again just seems wrong... I'm drawing a blank, anyone have any suggestions? Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:36, 1 December 2008 (EST)

  • I'd suggest using the image of the eclipse going away, if that translates to a still image. It doesn't feel right having an image with no relation to the title.--Tim Thomason 22:47, 1 December 2008 (EST)
    • Actually, I was thinking of something less obvious, but still along the same lines. For instance, maybe the shot of the light coming in the window and falling on Claire and Sandra. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:10, 1 December 2008 (EST)
    • What about the moment the sunlight hit Claire's face reviving her?--Anthony Gooch 23:15, 1 December 2008 (EST)
      • GMTA. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:23, 1 December 2008 (EST)
        • lol, Did i write that before you or was i just oblivious to your post?--Anthony Gooch 23:56, 1 December 2008 (EST)
          • You actually accidentally deleted mine to add yours. It happens when you start editing the page, and then I start editing the page. Then I save my edits first, and you save your edits second. It doesn't happen often, but it happens sometimes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:53, 2 December 2008 (EST)
          • Just uploaded the pic of the Eclipse crossing Claire's face, and her reviving. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 12/2/2008 08:08 (EST)
            • Ugh, another image of the eclipse as the lead image? It looks really bad in places like here. And a bit obvious, if you ask me. I'm going to revert it back to HDS's image of Claire reviving--that way it shows the effect of the eclipse rather than the actual eclipse. Bonus points for showing the light coming from the eclipse. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:56, 2 December 2008 (EST)
              • I always thought that the image for The Eclipse, Part 1 (unrelated, but somewhat related) should have been Hiro and Matt looking up into the sky with Hiro saying "it's starting". Maybe this comment should go on Part 1, but, hey, they're both eclipses. --DocM 13:22, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Best. Day. Ever.

  • Since there is disagreement as to the format of the "Best. Day. Ever." quote, before it can be re-added to the memorable quotes there must be consensus on the format. It seems there is a disagreement as to whether it should only be attributed to Sam or both Sam and Hiro. Please discuss. (Admin 00:44, 2 December 2008 (EST))
    • If it's spoken separately by two individuals at two different times, it should be listed as two separate quotes. Since the quotes are listed chronologically, they should be placed chronologically within the overall sequence. (They may be back to back, but even so they should be listed separately.) That seems consistent with previous usage, as far as I can tell. Listing one quote and two separate speakers is just confusing: it doesn't tell the readers when it was spoken, and almost makes it sound like it was spoken by both speakers simultaneously. Which... isn't the case, right? So I'd say it should be attributed to both, but it should be clear they said it on separate occasions. I'd also note the closed-captioning punctuation is Best-Day-Ever, but CC isn't always trustworthy... -- (Gadfly 00:55, 2 December 2008 (EST))
      • I would list it like this:

"Best. Day. Ever."

- Hiro/Sam

That is all. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:02, 2 December 2008 (EST)

        • Again, that doesn't make it clear to someone unfamiliar with the episode if they said it simultaneously, or at two separate times. And if it's spoken at two separate times, and given the existing format is to list all quotes chronologically, they should be separated to fit the existing format. -- (Gadfly 01:05, 2 December 2008 (EST))
      • Anyhoo, do it however it needs to be done. I think that takes care of the synopsis and all the quotes I could come up with for tonight. Catch ya next week! -- (Gadfly 01:25, 2 December 2008 (EST))
  • I gotta say, that was possibly one of the Best. Lines. Ever. --Yamawhata? 16:53, 2 December 2008 (EST)

maya

just wondering, for use on my cast changes subpages, what was Dania Ramirez credited as in this episode, having not seen it yet? was she regular, special guest, or uncredited? - Tristan0709 01:04, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • I believe she was listed at the beginning of the credits with all the other principal cast members. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:11, 2 December 2008 (EST)
    • Yup, she was credited in the regulars cast list. -- Gadfly 01:11, 2 December 2008 (EST)
      • wow. that's kinda weird. we have maya, who appeared as background to other charcters in 5 out of the first seven episodes (cocoon wasn't really acting), then takes three episodes off, then appears as a regular again. on the opposite side, daphne has appeared in every episode except Villains, and practically drove the story in Dying of the Light. strange how things work. so would you think that, in terms of main cast, maya was removed from the regulars and brought back, or was a regular the whole time but didnt appear (like practically everyone in season 2) - Tristan0709 01:22, 2 December 2008 (EST)
        • Yeah, that's the way things go sometimes. Maya may have been in more scenes that got deleted/edited out of the episodes before they aired.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:37, 2 December 2008 (EST)
          • What's interesting is that being a principal character has less to do with how many appearances a person has, and more to do with what your contract says. In the first season, James Kyson Lee appeared more times than all but three of the principal cast members, yet he was not considered principal. That was changed in the second season. Somebody like Stephen Tobolowsky appeared in all but one episode of the second season, yet he was never considered a principal cast member. On the other hand, Kristen Bell appeared in only half the episodes her character's father appeared in, yet she was a principal cast member. Even odder, she's already had more appearances in season three than she did in season two--yet she was principal in season two, but not in season three. Likewise, Brea Grant (not principal) has appeared in more episodes than Dana Davis (principal). The reigning champ, though, would be Ashley Crow, who outranks every one of the former principal cast members, is tied with one principal cast member, and trails the rest by only a few episodes. I suppose in the end, it's all about the Benjamins. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:58, 2 December 2008 (EST)
            • Yeah i agree, things are weird like that. I can understand regular-ness for the sake of importance (ie Sandra didn't carry her own storyline except for distractions - unexpected), but i think simone should have been a guest star and ando a regular in season one. and i agree for bob in season 2. niki didn't deserve to be a season two regular either. bennet was upgraded to regular in fallout, yet sylar wasn't. although i'm glad they are keeping the same cast so far this season, except for the aforementioned in/out of Maya, i think it would be interesting to see a constantly changing group of regulars, like molly walker for some of season two, and daphne and arthur for now. the way it is now, we already know that primatech will beat pinehearst because all the primatech people are regulars, except daphne, and sylar and tracy are the only pinehearst regulars, with elle, flint, knox, and arthur all guest stars. - Tristan0709 03:43, 2 December 2008 (EST).

Review

Very cool episode. It was great to continue seeing Peter think for himself, and going back to the scene on the Deveaux rooftop was a nice touch. Also a couple nice surprises: 1) Looks like Nathan is going to the dark side, but it didn't take any bamboozling from Tracy for him to do so; also, Sylar killing Elle so easily was surprising...I expected her to put up a bit more of a fight (oh well).--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:37, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • But is Elle dead? The look on Sylar's face at the end of that scene seemed to indicated Sylar stopped because he realized what he was doing. Sort of like "What am I doing?" look because he looked surprised/shocked of what he was doing to Elle. At least that's what it looked like to me. --Dman dustin 02:08, 2 December 2008 (EST)
    • I guess he could have stopped, but I got the impression he killed her.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:16, 2 December 2008 (EST)
      • I don't think elle is dead. many have speculated that she is noah gray's mother, and the writers said they would address that again in around ep 10-12 (i think). so elle might not be dead. oh, and kristen bell is special guest star next week too. - Tristan0709 03:46, 2 December 2008 (EST)
        • She's probably playing, y'know, her dead body. --Ciwey 07:21, 2 December 2008 (EST)
          • Pretty sure that's it. Bloodbath 15:07, 2 December 2008 (EST)
  • A better question would be, why would Sylar kill her? He already understands her power. His "hunger" has never driven him to kill people when he has nothing to gain before, at least early on when he viewed non-powered with scorn more than homicidal rage. And of course, Sylar demonstrated he could "change" even before he lost his powers: that's how he got Elle's power in the first place. So the entire thing was kind of out-of-sync there. --Gadfly 07:47, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Bogus Cliffhanger

The irritating part was the "fake" cliffhanger. Noah has a clear kill shot at the end of Part 1. But here, clearly at least some time has passed *ahem* since the end of the previous episode. Since Elle and Sylar are mostly undressed and are clearly post-coitus. Why'd he wait? "Last meal" consideration for the soon-to-be dead targets? --Gadfly 07:56, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • I agree. I haven't had many problems with writing holes or even characters going from one side of the US to the other in record time, but this one is SO obvious. HRG has his finger on the trigger and we know one of them is dead, but somehow 15-20 min. (at least) pass and then we see the sniper laser? It's even the same writers who wrote both episodes, COME ON!--Mistyjo 10:18, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Heck, I would have taken the packing knife and kept on cutting until Sylar's head came off. Is he really just hoping that Sylar's powers will never come back, or that there's no time limit on how long you have to be dead once they kick in? For that matter, why does Noah spare Elle? He shot her in the hip earlier, he knows she's a sociopath, he probably knows she got Sylar to kill again or at least stood by and let him kill (at the car rental place). She's stuck in the elevator, banging on it and screaming, so he must know she's there. Instead he just walks way after killing Sylar. Like he doesn't figure she'll come gunning for revenge if he spares her? --Gadfly 11:19, 2 December 2008 (EST)

    • Maybe he wanted her to suffer.
    • Actually, it seemed to me that HRG really just had the vendetta against Sylar for (mentally) 'raping' his Claire-Bear. He shot Elle in the hip earlier because they were running away and he was really just aiming at both of them in attempt to slow them down, or at least hit one so he had a trail to follow. I don't think HRG really has that much hatred for Elle, irregardless of how 'evil' she may be. HRG isn't exactly Santa Claus himself... Thelink 22:39, 2 December 2008 (EST)

New Footage

So were the scenes of Kaito and Young Hiro new? Or just recycled footage from Season 1? --Gadfly 07:55, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Recycled I think with Claire and Present Hiro added in.
I doub't it from the camera angles. Why would the shoot from through the window in season 1?

If so, it seems odd they were credited. Rena Sofer etc. weren't credit for their flashback/recycled footage in Villains. --Gadfly 11:20, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Yeah - t was new footage --Pierre 15:46, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Peter!!!!!!!!

I'm just wondering if Peter is going to have his power back!!! What will happen to him? did he recovered his ability? ...--Themd 14:38, 2 December 2008 (EST)

No, he didn't get his power back. --Acolyt3 14:40, 2 December 2008 (EST)
I wonder if he can still mimic powers of those in proximity? He was near both Peter and Samedi but didn't demonstrate having powers. That makes me wonder if Arthur left Peter unable to mimic additional powers? --Torley 03:43, 3 December 2008 (EST)
He has no powers. Bloodbath 05:37, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Third episode that ended the same way

With a character being cut off in the midst of saying 'Holy sh--.' --Stevehim 15:18, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • And it hasn't gotten old, either. ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:25, 2 December 2008 (EST
    • Agreed.  :) --Stevehim 15:26, 2 December 2008 (EST)
      • And to think that just the other day, I was thinking about the line and how it hadn't been used this season :).--Citizen 16:02, 2 December 2008 (EST)
        • It's a funny line. Especially when Claire says it.--Onehardrocker 19:41, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Series on an upswing?

The previous episode in my opinion was easily the worse in the series. Terrible dialogues. Huge leaps of logics. The way they were trying to turn Sylar, no of the most interesting TV villians ever, into a good guy was depressing. This episode restored some of my faith in the show. They killed off Elle, who IMHO is just annoying. And Sylar is back to his evil self--and a free agent of sort too.

A show like Heroes need to deal with weighty philosophical issues. Otherwise it turns into pointless melodrama revolving around stupid revelations. I thought the conversation between Peter and Nathan, the latter's sudden epiphany, provide this necessary moral dimension. Do we as human have enough integrity to be entrusted with extraordinary power? If we can play god, do we have a duty to do so?

I really hope all this will go somewhere and not end in a dud like season 2. --Borowki 17:47, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Cracking open Claire

  • Is it noteworthy that the doctors are probably the ones who killed Claire since you would never open up a patient and shock their heart to treat septic shock?  :) --Action Figure 19:07, 2 December 2008 (EST)
    • No, that's a bit speculative. We don't know what else was wrong with her or why they opened her chest. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:18, 2 December 2008 (EST)
      • I really don't think so. I watch a lot of medical shows and cracking the chest is usually a last ditch effort but is only ever really used if there's like a blood clot or something. I think the writter's may have made a mistake when they wrote that in but that's all. - WarGrowlmon18
        • Do you have a medical background? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:04, 2 December 2008 (EST)
        • Yes; no offense, but I find it kind of ironic that you criticize a supposed medical inaccuracy in the show if your only knowledge of the subject comes from other television shows. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:00, 2 December 2008 (EST)
          • Additionally, please sign your posts from now on. You've been told already... Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:02, 2 December 2008 (EST)

I've tried to do that but can't get it right so I've given up. And yes, I did just see that on a medical show, but its a medical show not a fiction show like Heroes.

  • Actually, they're still fictional shows. And is it that hard? All you have to do is type ~~~~. Come on now. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:15, 2 December 2008 (EST)

New Actors and Characters

-- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:32, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • I'm pretty sure one of the Haitian girls is named Vivian or Vivienne or some other similar sounding name. That's what they were yelling when they were reunited, no? --Ciwey 06:15, 3 December 2008 (EST)
    • At what part did you hear a name? I didn't hear anything clear. Unless we get a name, we should use the names they were credited with, I guess. "Older Haitian girl" and "Younger Haitian girl". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:29, 3 December 2008 (EST)
  • Wait, why is he an "Odessa police officer"? If that's one of the cops who came into Claire's hospital room, wouldn't he be a Costa Verde police officer?--Paronine 08:07, 3 December 2008 (EST)
    • Dang, you're right! I forgot where they were. So much for editing when I'm tired, eh? I'll change it now.
  • Incidentally, the drug store clerk's name is on his tag. I can't read it. Dustin Hess said that his character's name is Sam. I'll use that name for now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:29, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Samdi's 'demise'??

So what's the offical consensus on what happened to the Haitian's bro? Personally I really don't think he killed him, but may have done a memory wipe like Arthur did to Hiro. Whatever it was, it seemed more serious then simply knocking him unconscious; Samdi's eyes rolled back in his head and he kind of swooned before he fell. Thelink 23:02, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • I have my theories, but I don't think we're able to say that he's dead, if that's what you're asking. All we can say right now is what we saw: The Haitian put his hands on his brother's head and rendered Samedi unconscious. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:18, 2 December 2008 (EST)
    • I don't think the Haitian is so cruel as to kill his own brother, despite all of his bad deeds, but I would think rendering his brother harmless through a memwipe or other "I can't hurt people anymore!" technique would be fair. --Torley 03:28, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Emo nurse hair?

Has anyone else noticed that lately, now that Peter's hair has grown out a little, that they kind of have him comb it like it was in season one. Also Ive seen recent interviews with Milo and his hair is starting to resemble the season one hairdo. haha I doubt any of you really care, but it was just a thought that crossed my mind--Cairoi 23:08, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • Yeah, I noticed it on this episode. It's not really as big as it was in season 1 though. Bloodbath 05:32, 3 December 2008 (EST)
  • I hope they don't bring that back. It made him look like a lost teenager. --FlamingTomDude 01:46, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Where's Knox?

Where the hell has Knox been all this time? We haven't seen him for like 3 episodes. Usually him and Flint are attached at the hip, but we haven't seen Knox since him and ol' Sparky went on a mission to catch the Catalyst (which they failed at miserably btw, lol). Perhaps he got scared once he knew what it felt like to be powerless once more... Thelink 23:12, 2 December 2008 (EST)

  • Maybe its possible that he went to New Orleans for one reason or another. The original storyline for Knox was that he was a gangster in New Orleans and eventually he would fight Monica who was to have a sort of Batman and Robin storyline going on with Micah. That was all cut though due to the new direction of season 3 in which the writers felt that Micah and Monica didnt fit. There are rumors that Monica is supposed to reappear in the volume finally of Villains. So maybe they are trying to set that up? I'm not sure though...--Cairoi 23:19, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Sylar & Elle on the beach? Observations...

I wonder why Hiro teleported them there! It was a total WTH moment for me. They didn't even really talk about what just happened aside from the "Hiro Nakamura..." but it was a pretty romantic location until what happened at the end. What an eventful day it was for both of them, of course.

I crack up sometimes because of the mix of styles used in Heroes — this ep got very meta and self-referential at points because of the Ninth Wonders comic books, and Hiro sometimes seems as if he exists in his own world, oblivious to evil and staggering around like a lost child (recently, literally), but eventually taking decisive action. I can see how that would be confusing to someone expecting more of a single-toned drama or comedy, but I like all these elements. I also think it's intriguing how few times he and Claire have met. (I spotted a 1st-gen Gameboy in little Hiro's hands!)
