Temp Summary

If you're posting summary text, please insert it in the hide tags below until the episode has finished airing (--Falcomadol 17:05, 24 November 2008 (EST)):

Opening blurb: There's a moment in every war where everything changes. A moment when the road bends. Alliances and battle lines shift. And the rules of engagement are rewritten. Moments like these can change the nature of the battle, and turn the tide, for either side. So we do what we can to understand them. To be ready for change, we steady our hearts, curb our fears, muster our forces, and look for signs in the stars. But these moments, these game changers, remain a mystery. Destiny's invisible hand, moving pieces on a chess board. No matter how much we prepare for them, how much we resist the change, anticipate the moment, fight the inevitable outcome, in the end, we're never truly ready when it strikes.

Arthur is doing more precognitive sketches. They include: Peter and Nathan falling toward a jungle; Sylar kissing Elle; Hiro, Matt, and Ando standing in a cornfield; and Noah holding a dead Claire.

Angela is considering a photo of the Patrelli family and then looks outside at the coming eclipse

Ando and Hiro look at the last page of the 9th Wonders! comic, which shows an eclipse and the words "It's coming."

Sylar tests his newly acquired lightning powers while Elle looks on. Sylar says he needs to prove himself to someone, but says she wouldn’t understand. They’re interrupted when Arthur comes in and asks Sylar to find Claire. Elle insists on going with him, admitting that being a “Company” girl is all she knows. Sylar asks Arthur if he’s okay with it, and Arthur says it’s a good pairing.

At the Primatech facility, Claire speaks with Angela, who informs her she has an important part to play: avoid being caught. Nathan is going to find the Haitian and Matt will find Hiro. Angela escorts Claire into Level 5 where prisoners Eric Doyle and Danny Pine are confined. Claire wonders if Angela is going to lock her up, but Angela says she has another plan. Noah is waiting for her.

Nathan is preparing to depart for Haiti and Peter says he'll need some help with the Haitian, who is looking for a Level 5 escapee, Baron Samedi, who is into slavery and drug trafficking. Peter says that without his powers, he's not sure who he is or what his purpose is. Nathan assures Peter that he still has a purpose even without his powers but agrees to take him along. Nathan has Peter hold on as he flies off into the sky toward Haiti.

Mohinder is conducting an autopsy on his test subject and realizes that he himself is still mutating. He goes to see Arthur and demands the catalyst, and Arthur shows him the picture of Noah and Claire and says it’s going to happen today. Mohinder says it’s impossible since Claire can't die, but Arthur asks him how it could happen. Mohinder suspects the eclipse is involved and notes that if Claire dies, the catalyst dies with her and he can't get a cure. There’s another sketch of Mohinder in a cocoon and Arthur warns that everything is going to change today.

Matt and Daphne are in Brooklyn looking for Hiro's phone number in Matt’s files about Kaito Nakamura's murder. Daphne is nervous and says that Arthur scares her and she betrayed him. She thinks she betrayed Matt as well and he assures her that he trusts her completely. She wonders how he knows her so well and says that it was a dream. Matt insists he won’t let anything happen to her. They’re interrupted whe there’s a knock on the door. Matt opens the door and finds Hiro and Ando. Ando shows him the comic, which shows Matt helping Ando.

Noah takes Claire to Stephen Canfield’s home, saying that it’s safe now that Canfield is gone Claire accuses him of doing whatever it takes to keep the catalyst safe. Noah says that he’s worried about her, not the catalyst.

Matt scans Hiro’s memories but can’t understand his thoughts, which are in Japanese. Meanwhile, Daphne comments about Ando being "dead" from the last time she saw him, and when he questions her she says she’s now a good guy. Ando insists the comic book says Matt holds the answer but Matt doesn’t know how to help Hiro. Meanwhile, Hiro is looking at Matt's turtle. Daphne says she can’t handle it and noticed Matt pausing when he said he trusted her. She heads for the door and he reads her mind and picks up a thought of Lawrence, KS. She tells him to back off and super speeds away, and Hiro thinks she’s cool.

Sylar and Elle go to the Hotspur car rental agency and Sylar checks in with Arthur. Arthur thinks that Noah has Claire, and Sylar knows where he’ll go because he knows how Noah thinks. Elle is worried about him, thinking that he’s obeying authority too easily. Sylar tries to ring the bell for the agent, but Elle tells him that she told the male Hotspur employee that Sylar is a serial killer who kidnapped her. When Sylar wonders why, she explains that she doesn’t want Arthur or anyone else making him into something he isn't. She says they can do and take whatever they want. The agent comes out with a rifle and says he knows what’s going on. Sylar tries to explain without success and Elle pressures Sylar by asking who he really is. The clerk strikes Sylar, drawing blood, and says he'll be a hero for turning Sylar in. Sylar glares him, his injury regenerating, and says he hates heroes.

As the eclipse draws nearer, Mohinder records a log wondering what the eclipse signifies and how he’s changing. He’s wracked by spasms of coughing and notices more adhesive fluid extruding from his hands.

Noah is tearing up the floor at the Canfield home and gives Claire one of the wooden boards. He tosses it to Claire and tells her to hit him, if she wants him to train her. Claire says he’s trying to exorcise his guilt and she insists she can handle things. He says he’s trying to keep her safe and tells her to hit him. She takes a swing and Noah easily deflects her and then turns it against her, choking her. He gives her instructions on how to improve and tells her to go again.

Tracy calls Arthur with information on where Nathan and Peter are going. Tracy wonders if Arthur is going to hurt Nathan, and Arthur says there are some things out of his control. Tracy, concerned, says they need him. Arthur tells Tracy to go to the Marine training facility at Parris Island and use some of her connections to put together an army. She balks but he says she has to do what he says or Nathan won't make it to the White House. When Angela comes in, she quickly cuts off and claims it's a business call. She strolls out past a suspicious Angela.

At Matt’s apartment, Ando is reading 9th Wonders! comics where Matt insists he has to find Daphne. He wants Hiro to teleport him to Lawrence, KS. Hiro turns to a page in the comics showing them at a corn farm in Lawrence, KS. When Ando explains, he teleports them there to the field outside of Daphne’s house. Matt hears Daphne’s thought and runs toward the house. However, Ando looks up as they see the sky darken from the eclipse.

At Pinehearst, Arthur throws the sketches on the ground.

In his laboratory, Mohinder has webbed himself to the wall in a cocoon.

At Primatech, Angela is looking at a photo of their family.

In Haiti, Nathan and Peter plummet out of the sky into a lake.

A smiling Sylar gets into a stolen rental car with Elle and they drive off.

Claire practices swinging at a column at the Canfield house as Noah smiles in approval.

Mohinder rips himself free of the cocoon and looks in a mirror to discover he’s back to normal.

Peter and Nathan climb out of the lake and Nathan admits he has no idea what happened but he can no longer fly. Peter remembers there was an eclipse the first day Nathan flew. However, Nathan suspects that the Haitian made him lose his powers. They make their way through the jungle and find voodoo totems that Peter identifies them as pwen, prayers for redemption and salvation. Nathan says he saw the Haitian’s village from the sky and heads in that direction, even though Peter says the map shows it’s in a different direction.

Matt knocks at the farmhouse door and Mr. Millbrook answers the door. He says that Daphne isn’t there but Matt calls out and Daphne tells him to go away. Matt tries to use his telepathy on Mr. Millbrook and glares at him, but nothing happens. A puzzled Mr. Millbrook goes back inside and Matt explains that his powers are gone. Hiro confirms that his powers are gone and they wonder what’s going on. Inside, Mr. Millbrook asks Daphne if she’s going to explain who Matt is, and she says she won’t. He says she’s been gone a long time and she asks if she can just go home. He asks if she’s okay and she says it’s happening again. She asks if he still has "them" and he goes to get them.

In Haiti, Peter and Nathan come to a ravine and Nathan says they can double back. Peter wonders if Nathan will admit he’s wrong. Nathan snaps at him, saying that every time Peter has been in trouble Nathan has been there to save him. Peter accuses him of being a puppet and a coward, letting himself be manipulated by Arthur. Nathan wonders where it’s coming from and Peter says in the future he's seen, Nathan will choose Arthur. Nathan disagrees, saying he's trying to stop Arthur now, and turns to find the Haitian, motioning him for silence.

Claire is still practicing her swinging but is tiring out. Noah wonders where her anger has gone and tells her to swing at him. She tries and he asks what she’s thinking. She talks about how she hugged him every time he’d come back from a trip in the hope he wouldn’t leave. She hits him in the leg and asks why he left, then walks toward the door. Elle comes in and tries to use her lightning, but nothing happens. Noah draws a gun and tells her to leave, but Sylar comes in behind him. However, Sylar’s power doesn’t work either. Noah and Sylar struggle and Noah drops his gun. As Noah dislocates Sylar’s shoulder, Elle picks up the gun and prepares to shoot Noah. Claire throws herself in the path of the bullet and falls to the ground. Noah knocks Elle unconscious and then picks up Claire and gets her out of the house. Sylar picks up the gun but passes out from the pain before he can shoot.

Noah takes Claire to the Bennet house where Sandra wonders what happened. Noah explains that Claire has lost her power and tells her not to call the hospital, which will call the police. He insists it’s a surface wound and they can deal with it. Sandra reluctantly agrees and goes to get medical supplies. Claire recovers consciousness and admits she’s been careless, but is at least happy she can feel pain again. Noah thanks her for saving his life.

In Lawrence, Hiro tries to use his powers again without success. Ando thinks Arthur may be responsible but Matt doesn’t believe it. Hiro says they have to save Daphne but Matt says he can’t. Hiro remembers the Hero’s Quest, to triumph without powers. Hiro starts throwing ears of corn at him while Ando translates, saying that Matt can’t doubt. Matt catches an ear of corn and Hiro asks him not to hurt him. Inspired, Matt goes to the house, and Hiro say she has a plan to get his powers back. Hiro and Ando walk down the road and Ando says they’ve reached the end of the comic book. Hiro says they have to find a comic book store to find the next issue.

Mohinder determines that every facet of the formula has disappeared from his body. He has no idea why or how and then brings up a file on Maya. He prepares to leave but Arthur and Flint comes in. Arthur says that Mohinder has to get everyone’s abilities back and Mohinder warns that it may be irreversible. Flint slams Mohinder into the wall and tells him he’s going to stay there until Mohinder gets their powers back.

Hiro and Ando find a Sam's Comics and Hiro starts going through the racks, realizing it’s Wednesday: new comic day. They approach the owner, Sam, and his co-owner Frack, and they recognize Hiro from the 9th Wonders! comic.

As they make their way through the jungle, the Haitian is surprised to hear that Arthur is alive, and says he didn’t strip Nathan of his powers. The Haitian says he has also lost his abilities and has to stop Samedi, his brother. Samedi is invulnerable to physical damage, and the Haitian explains that he is building an army based on superstitious fear of those who think he's a god. Peter insists on helping, and points out to Nathan they should do it for no other reason then so that the Haitian can complete his task and go back with them. They’re interrupted when soldiers open fire on them. The soldiers capture Nathan while Peter and the Haitian escape. Samedi emerges from the jungle and says they know all about him: Arthur warned them he would be coming. Samedi knocks him out and has his soldiers take Nathan to the camp. Peter and the Haitian watch from the jungle.

Noah determines that Claire isn't running a fever and tells her to get her rest. Claire says she loves him and he says he loves her. He goes out and Sandra tells him not to leave her daughter. Sandra says that Claire is scared and needs him, but Noah says there’s something he has to finish.

Mr. Millbrook gets in his truck and leaves, and Matt goes to the front door and knocks. He tells Daphne he isn’t leaving until he talks to her but she tells him to leave. He refuses and says he knows who she is: smart, beautiful, funny. He says he’s in love with her and is never going to give up on her. She tells him to come in and he follows her voice to the bedroom. She’s crippled, her legs useless, and didn't want him to see her that way.

Sandra brings food in for Claire but discovers that she’s unconscious and bleeding badly from her injury.

Elle relocates Sylar’s arm and he tries to use his powers without success. He takes the gun and admits that he used to understand everything, but now nothing makes sense. Sylar admits that it’s a relief not to feel the hunger. Elle admits she pushed him to become a monster and he says it wasn’t her fault, she was just following orders. She says they can’t take what they want any more but Sylar questions that, grabs her, and kisses her passionately. Outside, Noah is drawing a bead on him with a sniper rifle.

Why does the date of airing say that we are getting another week off? Tristan0709 02:42, 14 November 2008 (EST)

  • Cause I think originally there was going to be no Heroes the Monday of Thanksgiving Week, and The Eclipse would air the following week as a two-hour episode. But now per NBC Universal Media Village, it looks like the network has changed its mind.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:55, 14 November 2008 (EST)
    • I've just updated the date to correspond to the new official schedule (11/24/08 for this episode).--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:01, 14 November 2008 (EST)
      • Ok, forgive my ignorance, but do shows normally take a week off for Thanksgiving? We don't have Thanksgiving over here so I have no idea. Tristan0709 03:26, 14 November 2008 (EST)
        • It depends on what the networks have planned. Often times, they do rearrange schedules for holidays, and air more family-oriented shows or movies during those times to appear to a broader audience.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:53, 14 November 2008 (EST)

Take away their powers?

If the Eclipse gave them their power how come Peter was using Precognitive Dreaming before the eclipse? Why would an eclipse give them/take away powers when their powers are a part of their biology/physiology/whatever? This makes absolutely no sense. --Snow Leapord 22:05, 17 November 2008 (EST)

According to the writer's the first eclipse was just something to unite the heroes: a global event. I doubt it gave them their powers as other people had them before. For example Nathan flew in Six Months Ago and I think they forgot that when they mentioned he first flew during the eclipse. Maybe some combination of the sun and the moon is messing with their powers. I figure their powers will come back when the eclipse is over.
Hey come on. It's Heroes. There could be some... I dunno, weird ray from eclipses that interacts with the heroes' bodies. To say flat out that eclipses don't do anything when we don't know everything about how evolved humans work is just silly. Though you do bring a good point with the eclipse giving powers, though. That's been discussed before, and as far as we know, it's a plothole. Of course, NBC's doing the narrations for the promos, not the creators themselves, so they could be wrong. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:08, 17 November 2008 (EST)

If there are "weird rays" then those rays are coming from the moon crossing paths with the sun, if the "weird rays" can take it is plausible they can give as well if you have the genetic predisposition for it. Or it could be the fact the powers are solar powered. Either way the promo makes Heroes sound hokey and idiotic imho. --Snow Leapord 22:15, 17 November 2008 (EST)

That weird ray thing was just an example. My point was that anything can happen. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:18, 17 November 2008 (EST)
I think you are taking it too seriously. Some things aren't going to be explained right away. If it makes it more "hokey" and "idiotic" for you just because they don't explain exactly how and why everything happens at that time, then maybe this show isn't for you. The "weird rays" was just an example, Thrasmeister obviously just wanted to point out anything could happen and be explained however the writers choose. Look at "Lost", it took them 3 seasons to explain questionable issues. I dont know...imho, it's what TV shows do. --Denali 10:44, 25 November 2008 (EST)

The eclipse is doing what it's supposed to do, it's eclipsing stuff that is inducing a falling into obscurity or decline Ilan 21:54, 25 November 2008 (EST)

Arthur's precognitive ability

Arthur had a picture that he had drawn, apparently of Noah holding Claire's corpse, and indicated that it was "going to happen, TODAY." I'm not aware of any other precognitive painters who were specifically aware of when the things they painted were going to occur. Was this an accurate statement, or do we think it was just a way to communicate urgency?--Falcomadol 21:09, 24 November 2008 (EST)

Arthur has been shown to have more advanced control over his abilities than even those that originally held them. It's quite possible the ability to know when an event is going to happen is a more advanced aspect of his precognition. ...Or, he could have just drew the eclipse and looked up when the next one would be on Google or Wikipedia or something like that. :P Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 21:12, 24 November 2008 (EST)
I think he figured that since he was sending people after Claire that day it may have caused it and all of the other paintings he drew, specificly that of the eclipse, were happening that day. Maybe he did what Issac did while trying to find Peter while he was with Claude and focused on painting what was coming that day in an attempt to figure out what the eclipse meant.

Mohinder's ability

  • Mohinder grosses me out every time I see him.--Falcomadol 21:41, 24 November 2008 (EST)
  • What grosses me out are the empty generalities (supposedly "deep") he spouts out at the beginning of each episode. Reminds me of the conclusions of a High School term paper where the student hasn't read any of the material. Ilan 21:47, 25 November 2008 (EST)

  • To be honest for some reason when Matt was about to find out what was up with Daphne, I half expected it to be something crazy, like she was actually a mutated monster or something. • Indeed, though since Hiro only temporarily lost his powers during the Eclipse in ancient Japan in Season 2, I'd think that it's kind of a given that this eclipse's effects will again end shortly after the eclipse does.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:48, 25 November 2008 (EST)
    • That, and the fact we've seen several futures, with people having powers in each one. Since the eclipse is a natural phenomenon that couldn't be changed by anyone tinkering with time, you know they're going to get their powers back because we've seen the futures where it happens. --Gislef 08:18, 25 November 2008 (EST)

Acoording to the transcript for the Graphic Novel Caged Bird, it was some kind of disease that robbed her of her ability to walk at age 3. That medal might be her mother's as she was a runner in high school. Her mother's dead and when Daphne got her powers (during the first eclipse) she got back her ability to walk.

Mr. Muggles?

Where that hell has he been, we haven't seen him since Claire was pathetically holding him and sobbing after Sylar attacked her, or at least I think that was the last time. Wow , that was episode one! Have the writers done away with him just like Monica?--Cairoi 22:28, 24 November 2008 (EST)

We saw him in I Am Become Death too. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:33, 24 November 2008 (EST)

I don't know, I've heard rumors that she'll be returning before the end of the volume. We shall see though. As for Mr. Muggles, I'm pretty sure he's the one that will kill Arthur Petrelli, what with the ability to manipulate matter on a sub-atomic level and all... One can only hope!--Cairoi 22:48, 24 November 2008 (EST)

I have decided

I will no longer watch Heroes if Claire Bennet is killed off in the next episode. I am dead serious.

...That being said, I'm pretty confident they're not going to kill her off. :P Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:29, 24 November 2008 (EST)

Ya know what: I found something that all but says she won't be killed: on Wikipedia it mentions that for the episode after The Eclipse, Part 2, she and Hiro will travel back in time to the day Kaito gave her to Noah. Now she can't be dead now if she's gonna do that. Also if they can travel back in time like that that means they do get their powers back.
I doubt she'll be killed: eclipses don't last that long: no more than a few hours at most I think. She'll probably get back her powers at the last minute or she'll survive that seizure and be in a coma until they return or maybe that is her powers returning.
  • Sorry to but in and interrupt the line of replies, but eclipses don't last hours, five or six minutes is a respectable duration. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 11:26, 25 November 2008 (EST)
Well yes, in the normal universe, but the one in Genesis lasted hours at least.
Where did they mention that eclipse's duration? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 13:22, 25 November 2008 (EST)
They didn't, but it did seem to take hours for it to go away. It was there pretty much the entire episode and that took a lot longer than five or six minutes.

I'd probably pay more attention. Seriously, her acting ability has gone way downhill from what we have seen her do. She use to really show talent before, and now she's just subpar in comparison with much of the other cast. I don't what happened. Therequiembellishere 00:36, 25 November 2008 (EST)00
I( was thinking exactly the same thing towards the end of the episode... but about Sylar. If they kill Sylar, I swear I will stop watching. I can't bear that thought. As for Claire, as I said in an above comment... she's getting on my nerves. They need to give her a good storyline.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  03:27, 27 November 2008 (EST)

A few things I think I missed...

Can you help me out. Ok, for some reason I could of sworn that when Arther was talking to Ali Larter's character, that it was implied that he was talking to Barbra (the other triplet, most likely evil) and not Tracy. Did anyone else catch that, and if you did can you fill me in on what is going on? And another thing, what was going on when they showed Maya's picture on the computer screen, I didn't hear what they were talking about.--Cairoi 22:48, 24 November 2008 (EST)

  • I didn't get the idea it was Barbara, other then that Traci is acting all evil and scheming. Mohinder was looking up Maya's address so he could track her down, now that he was mutation-free. --Gislef 00:30, 25 November 2008 (EST)
It's Tracy: she went with Nathan to Pinehearst and she's gone over to the Dark Side.

HEY! I know the Rent-A-Car guy!

  • His name is Brian and he is a Groundling. I met him in Miami! Ironically, hes in a bunch of car dealership commercials right now. I know the guy that stood up to Sylar of all people! Of course... fate unknown... hm... :) --Action Figure 23:35, 24 November 2008 (EST)
    • He's Brian Palermo, apparently, by process of elimination and his publicity photo. Yup, he's a Groundling. --Gislef 00:05, 25 November 2008 (EST)
      • He was also in one of my favorite shows, Significant Others. Very funny stuff. Milky white boobies. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:46, 25 November 2008 (EST)

Tracy without Necklace

  • When Tracy was talking to Mr. Petrelli on the phone, she did NOT have her necklace on. So either that wasn't Tracy or this is the first time we have seen her without it. I'm guessing the latter. But how crazy would it be if that was Barbara and Pinehearst was pulling a switcheroo while Nathan is in Haiti? Vengeful 02:26, 25 November 2008 (EST)
    • That's exactly what I thought, I think its actually Barbra. I you noticed she was also wearing her hair similarly to the way we saw Barbra wear it in the picture with the German. Cairoi 06:24, 25 November 2008
      • For what it's worth, in the last Behind the Eclipse, they told us there are no plans for Barbara to be introduced this season. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:32, 25 November 2008 (EST)
        • Nice catch, Vengeful. But it's a shame that she won't be appearing at all this season, given the Behind the Eclipse that RGS posted... Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 07:34, 25 November 2008 (EST)

Continuity Error - Mention of Red Hulk

  • The Red Hulk was revealed in March of 2008. In the present time of Heroes, it is only about 5-7 months after the events at Kirby Plaza, placing the current timeline in Spring 2007, a whole year before Red Hulk came out. I could have foregone the inclusion of "New" 9th Wonders issues (thinking Mr. Mendez sketched plenty of issues before handing out his work to the Asian Delivery guy), but putting in something so new into a show whose timeline is still over a year back seems like a huge oversight and a reason to plug Loeb's creation. If this was discussed in last week's episode where Hiro discovered recent shocking events in Marvel Comics, it could be said that he accidentally jumped into the future (although unlikely, and another gaff to just mention these things). Either way, it's probably the OCD continuitist in me that thinks this was stupid --MarkyMarc413 11:21, 25 November 2008 (EST)
    • Check out Product placement. A game, a car, and a computer all shared the "it's not out yet" quality in the show. --Riddler 18:12, 25 November 2008 (EST)
      • Fair enough. I will concede to the inclusion of those items because they are all technology, and as we know, technology moves and changes all the time. But something that is based on fiction that isn't necessarily always updated or changed is a bit different in my eyes. Most of those items (game, car and computer) could concievably be aquired early, but you can't aquire Comic Book ideas early. --MarkyMarc413 18:18, 25 November 2008 (EST)
        • Was someone looking for me? It's clear that the show's writers have a fairly cavalier attitude to continuity, to put it mildly. They're like children. I agree that solid canon would be nice, but the tightly written pleasures of the first season are gone for good. :\ Product Placement 18:35, 25 November 2008 (EST)
    • In a show where people can fly, shoot fire and lightning out of their hands, use telekenis, and other things...I think it's fine for a comic to be out on the show's timeline before our's.
      • The show uses a comic style sliding timeline. Now is now, and the things that happened in "Spring 2007" are 5-7 months ago. Time just stacks up as issues are released. The current issue is always now.--Falcomadol 00:11, 26 November 2008 (EST)

New actors and characters

Adam Munroe

At first I thought, "If Adam had survived up to this point, would he have died in a similar way to his real death due to the eclipse taking away his power?" But Adam has likely survived countless other eclipses, namely the one in Season One. How convenient that he was killed off prior to this episode, to avoid needing to confront this situation. I see what they did there. ;P GabrielPetrelli 14:55, 25 November 2008 (EST)

  • I was thinking about the eclipse. I thought that you have to see or be near the eclipse for powers to active / deactivate. Adam was nearby when the 1671 eclipse happened, so his power activated. He was locked up / dead when the others happened. --DocM 18:30, 25 November 2008 (EST)

Arthur vs. Hatian

I was wondering if Arthur was afraid of the Haitian, because it makes sense (that is, with respect to internal Heroes logic) that he wouldn't be able to take away his ability, at least the way he usually takes abilities away by physical contact. Ilan 21:20, 25 November 2008 (EST)

He can't: The Haitain block all abilities including Arthur's. I think he can let someone not have their ability blocked, but its his choice.
I wonder if you're right, that is, whether the Haitian can block all abilities. In particular, can he block his own ability? Ilan 20:34, 26 November 2008 (EST)
Uh I'm confused: how would he need to block his own ability??? Arthur can't steal it due to his powers being blocked (as shown in Villans when Angela tries to kill him) so why would he need to worry about that???
Do mean blocking someone else who has the same ability from using it? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 04:18, 27 November 2008 (EST)
It's a self-reference thing, kind of like the person who always tells a lie not being allowed to call himself a liar. Ilan 22:02, 28 November 2008 (EST)
A better question is, would they think that the Haitian can negate Nathan's ability? The Haitian couldn't do it when they captured Nathan in Season 1 (see The Haitian, Notes).
Couldn't, or didn't? He probably would have known who Nathan really was at that point, while Noah did not.--Falcomadol 21:36, 1 December 2008 (EST)

Episode sidebar picture

Since the previous episode sidebar pic of Noah holding Claire was pretty poor quality, and was only thinly related to the title(since all specials not just Claire, lost their powers via the Eclipse), I re-upped a standard 450x350 version of them which is more clear; and also upped a standard 300x169 version of the actual eclipse that the Haitian observed coming into effect; which is a more appropriate episode image, hence the title. Hopefully when Part 2 comes out, and the eclipse passes, they'll give us a good shot of the eclipse abating we can use for that one. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 11/26/2008 12:41 (EST)

"Global" eclipse

I'm looking forward to the explanation of how everyone lost their powers due to this "global event" (as stated in the show). A basic problem is that it is not exactly global, the full eclipse region actually moves across the earth. In particular, it is hard to figure out how it could be that everyone in very different places on earth could lose their powers simultaneously. In particular, Parkman etc. had their powers intact at a point during their local eclipse which was much earlier than in parts East (New York, Haiti).

Wizard of Oz

A thought (and it might be oh so farfetched).

But I can't stop thinking about Wizard of Oz. In the end when Ando, Hiro and Matt are going to Daphne's in Kansas I immediately went "Hellooo!". They teleport to Kansas...

Daphne lost something and there are three guys. They're next to a cornfield and everything is in sepia coloring/tone (Now it starts to feel "eire"). In the original movie there were three men to help Dorothy, one were missing a brain, one a heart and one his brave.

And Hiro sure misses his brain, Matt misses his "heart" (that would be Daphne). Or is it the other way around? That Matt for sure has a brain (or he "loses" it in the eclipse?

Anyway, I can't get it straight, I might be imagining it all (I'm affected by the eclipse, guys!) but I can't shake the feeling. --Psychad

Well, Lawrence, KS is the hometown of the Winchesters in Supernatural... --Gadfly

    • You are not going crazy!! I DEFINITELY thought of the Wizard of Oz when i saw that scene. The cornfield, the unique architecture of the house...It was all very Ozian to me. AND Kansas! lol, i told my roomate and he thought i was nuts. Still, i think we may be on to something.... Hiro = scarecrow (lack of brain) Parkman = tin man (lack of heart, nice) Ando = cowardly lion (lack of 'courage', always being the sidekick) eh, ok so the Ando analogy is a bit weak, but meh. There could even be Toto , too!Thelink 15:45, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Nice, so we are on the same page. I reacted again in the following episode when Daphne showed Matt the scarecrow she made. I can't make out the entire symbolism, but for me it is enough to just get the feeling and not being able to shake it. It doesn't need to be perfect. --Psychad

  • Though, by association to gender, Daphne would be Dorothy, I'd definitely count her as the Lion. She lost her "nerve."--Riddler 12:46, 5 December 2008 (EST)
    • On the subject of Wizard of Oz, in Eris Quod Sum, Elle told Claire, "All right, Dorothy. Then we're off to see the Wizard." -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:24, 5 December 2008 (EST)
    • Yeah and Sylar could go to Claire "I'll get you next time my little pretty, AND YOUR LITTLE DOG TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ok, what was with all the changes of scenery in this episode? we have nathan/peter in haiti, sylar and elle at a car-rental place, noah and claire back at the canfield house, angela and tracy in a different-looking primatech office, hiro and ando at the comic book shop, and matt and daphne in kansas. was this in response to entertainment weekly's complaints about the overuse of isaac's loft and mohinder's apartment? - Tristan0709 17:09, 8 December 2008 (EST)

Funny Episode

Was it me or did anyone else find this episode funny? Everyone (Elle, Sylar, etc) going to use their abilities by gesturing their hands only to see nothing happens. The look on their faces. The same thing with Matt in the previous episode with Daff's dad.
