A nosebleed sometimes occurs when evolved humans strain to use their abilities beyond their normal limits.
About
Matt gets a nosebleed and one word, "Sylar", when trying to use telepathy in the Haitian's presence.
When Angela is being interrogated by Matt, she tries to resist his telepathic readings. She holds him off, but after some time, Matt gains the information he wanted, and she gets a nosebleed.
Peter gets a nosebleed when attempting to telekinetically rip the steel vault open to get the Shanti virus vial.
The Haitian gets a nosebleed when straining to contain the great powers of Arthur.
Eric Doyle tries to control Sylar, but he gets a nosebleed and passes out when his adversary proves too powerful.
At Building 26 with Ando, Hiro attempts to freeze time, strains unsuccessfully, and passes out with a nosebleed.

- In the alternate ending to Season Two, Matt Parkman's nose bleeds when over-exerting his power to send messages to the entire police station.
- Two other bleeding examples when power overloading from other body parts are: Matt Neuenberg bleeding from the ears when using his ability to download the Primatech computer banks in (The End of Hana and Drucker), and Hana Gitelman when bleeding from the nose, eyes, and mouth after being attacked by a computer virus while communicating with a satellite in (The Death of Hana Gitelman, Part 2).
