Baldbobbo deleted the talk page for Eclipse 2 at some point last week, and no one in their right mind is going to recreate a topic deleted by a mod. As a result, nothing is happening on the topic. Perhaps you could create it?--[[User:Falcomadol|Falcomadol]] 22:02, 1 December 2008 (EST) |

Those new accounts
Looks like you have a lot of banning to do. --Ciwey 23:05, 28 November 2008 (EST)
- Thanks for bringing that to my attention! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 23:08, 28 November 2008 (EST)
- There's a bunch more to block now.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:43, 28 November 2008 (EST)
- Isn't there a IP ban for cases like this? --Piemanmoo 23:47, 28 November 2008 (EST)
- Admin does the IP bans. I'm not quite sure how. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 23:48, 28 November 2008 (EST)
- This is bullshit. It's obviously one of those new members that have been sprouting on the wiki with their stupid subpages.--Citizen 00:33, 29 November 2008 (EST)
- I think it's TheEvilNoob. He has an axe to grind with me. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 00:41, 29 November 2008 (EST)
- If you're interested in learning about IP blocking, this may help you. IP banning is part of the Special:BlockIP form which only administrators can view, so I'm not sure how Admin has configured it here, but I do know the default allows you to leave a checkmark that blocks the last ip of a blocked username and autoblocks any subsequent IPs the user tries to edit from. Also, there's normally a link at the bottom to the other special pages that show the history of what is blocked and why.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:52, 29 November 2008 (EST)
- Yeah, I know how to do IP blocking...I don't know how to find out the IP address. Once I have the address, I can block the IP no problem. I've done it in the past by using my wife's blog, which records all the IP addresses that visit the blog. However, TEN seems to have stopped visiting my wife's blog (thank goodness--she has nothing to do with stuff that happens on the wiki, and it's not fair for her--or my kids--to see the messages he's left there), so I can't figure out what IP he's coming from. Thanks, though. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 01:10, 29 November 2008 (EST)
- Ah, I see. From what I can tell, then, only Admin can do the IP search and he does so by manually performing a scan on the database. However, there is also an extension Admin can add, called Extension:CheckUser, which will enable ip access to users he gives a special 'checkuser' permission. Perhaps you can ask if would consider adding it for you?--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:37, 29 November 2008 (EST)
- Thanks, Miami. I'll ask him. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 03:07, 29 November 2008 (EST)

Might legal action be in order if this keeps up? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:02, 1 December 2008 (EST)
- Yes. Admin is looking into it. I believe he will be contacting the guy's provider. The idiot has used his school computer, too. Dumbass. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 00:04, 1 December 2008 (EST)
- I'm working up an e-mail to Admin with a couple other suggestions to consider about this. I'll copy you, though have you already asked him about extension CheckUser?--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:40, 1 December 2008 (EST)
- I'm not comfortable making that information available to others yet. He's using some proxies so it wouldn't be terribly effective in this case anyway. If this changes I'll consider the extension. (Admin 00:45, 1 December 2008 (EST))
- Ok, e-mail sent, subject "HeroesWiki user creation". Have a good night.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:35, 1 December 2008 (EST)

Proxies
Is there anyway to block proxy access to the site? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 07:34, 1 December 2008 (EST)
- Dunno. I'm sure if there is, Admin will look into it. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 09:55, 1 December 2008 (EST)
- You can block the IP's of the proxies used, but then depending on where the proxy program is hosted, you could also be blocking other people's valid use of the site. That's why IP blocking is sometimes a bit tricky.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:02, 1 December 2008 (EST)
- Is there anyway to make sure the site is accessible only via a fix IP and not by a proxy? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 12:53, 1 December 2008 (EST)
- Many ISP's also use dynamic IP's for their customers, so it isn't that easy. If you're interested in learning more about proxies, see here.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:24, 1 December 2008 (EST)
