Older Episodes
Remember when I said about going back and adding in the checklists for all the older episodes, well with the cancellation of Heroes, it seems like a good time to do it. As you can probably see from Iheartheroes recent edits, a quite a few pages may benefit from it. What do you think? --mc_hammark 08:39, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- Well I am watching all of the episodes again with a friend. And during the fourth season, I took notes on most of the episodes. So I realized the other day while watching a couple that I could do it for them too. And I agree, pages may benefit. But what is left on my Notes section on my user page, is after everything and only a couple things weren't on there for each episode so its probably not that huge of a deal. But I do think the checklists need to be completed. ~~IHH—Talk 10:46, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- Agree. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:08, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
Character Histories
With Heroes cancelled and the graphic novels on hold, is it time to create the character histories for the fourth season? --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Amen. 08:50, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- I don't think there needs to be any considering that there isn't anything after Season Four so it would be pointless to have a history of Season Four when it is the last one (meaning present time). ~~IHH—Talk 10:46, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- I'm actually for creating the season four summaries for the main characters or the ones with previous season summaries. It'd be kinda out of format if each season has a summary, then a big list of the season four episodes. It would also be tidier and the page would have less subtitles. --mc_hammark 10:52, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- I'm all for it, it would also mean that if we need to edit the main page for each character it wouldn't get that little note saying how many kilobytes the page is. --Leckie -- Talk 12:10, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- But the reason there are those summary pages is so that pages can take in more Episode stuff. And considering there won't be anymore episodes, it kind of defeats the purpose. But I do see where you are coming from. ~~IHH—Talk 12:11, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- Yes, they were because there were more coming, but now we've got to look at it from a finishing point. We've got to make it more encyclopedia-like, so if this was an encyclopedia, it'd likely have a character summary for each season, you know? --mc_hammark 12:14, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- Not really. I'd like the most recent information on the page. Not a summary. ~~IHH—Talk 14:34, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- We need to be consistent. All the other seasons had summaries. --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Amen. 14:40, 3 June 2010 (EDT)
- I don't have a very strong opinion on this issue. However, my feeling is this: season histories are created to make room for new content. If there is no new content, then we don't need to create season histories. However, I wouldn't mind having some histories on pages that already have long summaries, like Peter's or Claire's. But I really don't think we need to archive the history of somebody like Lydia or Edgar, who only appeared in the fourth season. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:14, 3 June 2010 (EDT)

Patroller
If I may ask, what does one have to do to become a patroller? --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Amen. 14:34, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
- Hey Boycool, if you look at Heroes Wiki:Patrollers it will give you a general overview. Generally if an administrator thinks your edits are good enough and you are qualified enough they will consider you for promotion :) Hope this helps :) --Leckie -- Talk 18:37, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
- I look for three things in a patroller: proficiency in the English language, an understanding of how we do things at Heroes Wiki, and a good working knowledge of Heroes content. I usually promote patrollers at the start of a season, or just when we need them. For instance, if I'm noticing that edits are continually not being patrolled, I will promote a new patroller if one exists. If I anticipate an increase in edits, I might pick a few good users to be patrollers. At this point in time, I don't really see any need for new patrollers--we have very few edits on the wiki, there won't be much new content in the future, and we have a great crew of strong patrollers to cover what we do have. If one of those things changes, there could arise a need for more patrollers. But in the meantime, I don't think we need any more. That's not meant to be an insult or anything, and there should be no stigma attached to not being a patroller. It simply means we don't have a need for a patroller right now. However, if you want to be a patroller, you can always just act like one: a patroller's main job is to go through each edit on the wiki, and check for things like accuracy in content, proper English, and standard style. Hope that helps! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:08, 4 June 2010 (EDT)

This user has repeatedly forgotten to use their signature, despite being reminded several times by multiple users. I know it's a somewhat minor transgression, but it'd be wrong for him to assume that the community will do all the work he chooses to ignore, and frankly, I'm getting a little peeved at the fact that he hasn't responded to any of my reminders/warnings.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 15:22, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
- Thanks. I agree. It's not something I would block a person for, unless it was obvious that they were blatantly not following guidelines. It's annoying, but it's one of those things I think we just need to do some hand holding on. In my experience, users like this usually either catch on after a little bit, or they disappear after awhile. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:15, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
- Another vandal. This one's been blocked before and is back with a vengeance. Also, is it helpful for me to report vandals on your talk page, or should I just add an afd tag and assume you'll find out about them on your own?--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 22:22, 6 June 2010 (EDT)

Part 8
Ryan, like everyone else, I have been waiting for Part 8 of Primatech files. I can't see why they would release it. Do you know more about it? As a former graphic novel artist and writer? I don't want to keep logging on to this site, hoping its been released and being disappointed. AS fun as it is talking with you guys, without new input, it's kind of repetitive.--Blood69 07:45, 6 June 2010 (EDT)
- I don't have any more information about the last part of From the Files of Primatech than anybody else does. I'm not sure when it will be released. If you don't want to log on, one thing you could do is to put a page like Graphic Novel:From the Files of Primatech, Part 7 or Portal:Gn15 on your special:watchlist. If your preferences are configured correctly, then you'll receive an email alerting you when any pages on your watchlist are updated. FYI, I'm not a graphic novel artist or writer and never have been. I wrote an iStory and I worked a lot with Heroes Survival. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:51, 6 June 2010 (EDT)

What did you mean by this on Felicia's talk page? I don't think we ever found out anything about her in the end.

Hi
Hi Ryan, I hope you're having a good vacation.
I joined the TEW, I actually want to contribute there as much as I can. It looks like there isn't much going on at HW anymore. Btw, I'm also giving classes now, having students... like you :)
There's something else, I wanna tell you. Could you take a look at the pages I made here, here and here. To the first one I intend to cast the role of NBC, as it was during 2006. Even if you hadn't much time, I would be very glad if you joined the group & see you there. You could warn me if I did anything wrong :)
Thank you very much :)
I'll probably see you at the TEW more :)

It also says that they expected some form of announcement at Comic-Con, but didn't get one, so NBC is likely waiting to see how the fall premieres go before deciding.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:02, 28 July 2010 (EDT)

Do (possibly) not screen-used props have any place in the HEROES 'verse?
Hey there RGS - just had a question about HEROES props, which were specifically made for the show, although they may or may not have made an onscreen appearance. Would any information on said props just be interesting details in a sort of "alternate universe", sort of like the information gleaned in deleted scenes? I was just curious, because recently, this Chandra Suresh award showed up on ebay, and it was purchased at an a recent NBCU estate sale, which included many items from HEROES. Could the detail that, apparently, Chandra Suresh was awarded a Humanitarian of the Year award in 1989 be included as notes/trivia about the character? Or is it so "not canon" that it doesn't even deserve a footnote? Just curious about stuff like that. Fun tidbit, possibly to indicate that this is just a prop (& it also helps set it apart as maybe an official HEROES prop) - "People Recognizing Outstanding Professional Scientists" has the acronym of "PROPS". :D Anyways, thanks for any help! 'ROESian
- Yeah, I think it's definitely worth including in some notes sections. I'd be curious to see what other props there are that haven't been shown. I'd be even more curious to know why those items weren't included, but that information might be harder to obtain. No matter...it would definitely be beneficial to upload some images of "unaired props", and then mention them in the notes and trivia sections of appropriate articles. By the way, to answer your question, there is a bit of a precedence for including unaired props. Erlene Garcia sent me a photo of a sign at the carnival that I have never actually seen on air (though it may have aired, who knows?) ... Christina Haberkern has some great images in her tumblr and flickr accounts that I would love to get around to uploading one of these days. Go for it, 'ROESian. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:39, 23 August 2010 (EDT)
- Well, the only information about that award for Chandra Suresh is (currently - for what, 3 months?) at the eBay auction page; otherwise, a person would know that it was from that NBCU estate sale, but other than that, there's not a lot to elaborate on except to say that it was a prop pretty certainly ordered or made specifically for HEROES, and that it could share information that may or may not have been planned to be part of the character's story. Don't know if the possible trivia that Chandra supposedly received a Humanitarian award is that exciting to add to some notes, but I can when I get the opportunity. I figure those same auction item pics could be used to illustrate it, if ya want. With 100,000 sq. ft. of space for items from HEROES and other shows, with the various settings, I think it would take a while to track down (whether in Chandra's office or either of his apartments as options) if that award was ever glimpsed at all in an episode, if that makes a difference. What's crazy is to realize how much attention to detail that propmasters are able to put into the props, whether or not every item is specifically used or actually seen in the show. For example, during the SDCC 2010 panel for White Collar, this bit o' trivia was given about the music box! :) That sure sounds like a lotta scratch for the custom prop! Anyway, looking at prices, it seems a blank small diamond tower is in the mid-$60's to over $100, so it would seem like some thought might be put into what information is shared on the item, since (probably not insignificant?) funds are going into its creation/purchase. Or not. Also, that same eBay seller had some other props from HEROES as well, but I do not think that they shared any particularly interesting or new character info. Just fyi. I may check from time to time to see what other items appear that might be worth considering sharing at the wiki, too. 'ROESian
