Your archives template

Hey Ryan, I was just wondering whether it would be okay if I used the same sort of coding you have for you archive template, and used it on mine? I thought I'd ask first rather than just be rude and use it straight away :) --Leckie -- Talk 14:38, 1 March 2010 (EST)

  • Yep, that's cool with me. I think I probably stole it from somebody else, and then modified it to fit what I wanted. That's the evolution of templates and code! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:11, 1 March 2010 (EST)
    • Thanks Ryan :) I guess your right, I've done that before with codes! :) --Leckie -- Talk 15:41, 1 March 2010 (EST)

Hi RGS, Could you please delete the following images for me? Image:Leonardo gets shot.jpg and Image:A Rooftop Wishwithblue.jpg. Thanks :)-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 11:41, 2 March 2010 (EST)

Hi Can you delete User:Sylar12/Episode:Gift,bazadragis ,User:Sylar12/Template:Appearancesgift,heroes - Sylar12 21:01, 3 March 2010(LT)

Template:Helpbox

It still shows that Baldbobbo is an admin and I can't figure out how to change it. Template:Helpbox/centered had been corrected and I did the same to Template:Helpbox/full, but it still shows up in the main template. Also, sorry if it isn't my place to alter such things.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 20:27, 3 March 2010 (EST)

  • There's no problem with you updating the templates. Thanks very much! :) It should be working now. Sometimes, because there are multiple templates being used, you just have to wait a bit. Try clearing your cache, or refreshing your browser. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:04, 3 March 2010 (EST)

Thanks for makin' it presentable (again...)

Hey there RGS! Just wanted to say thanks for cleanin' up the note I added. I guess I've gotten into the mindset that, in a way similar to when engineering drawings are made, I just get all the pertinent information in there, and then the drawing is sent to drafting, where the draftspeople put it all in the correct format and according to the drafting standards... My bad - I'll see if I can actually present stuff to the wiki so it won't need editing sometime! 'ROESian

  • No worries at all. The information was great--and I didn't even catch the AT number on the ticket stub. But the whole point of the wiki is that we can all edit each other's work--so somebody might come along and change my wording, or tweak something that I wrote. Nothing wrong with that. And there was nothing wrong with what you wrote--I just try to standardize the style a little bit, and that's something that really only comes with editing as much as I do. Don't ever feel like you shouldn't add something because you're afraid it might not be presented in the best way. I always tell editors to just add the information, and somebody else will come along to make it look standard.

    Thanks, HERO! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:09, 4 March 2010 (EST)

RE:updating links

Thanks for explaining, I'm kind of new to changing names like that. Sometimes it was hard for me to see wich needed to be changed and wich waren't.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 20:19, 6 March 2010 (EST)

Introductory paragraphs

Hey Ryan, I have a small concern involving the introductory paragraphs on the articles of characters. The way I understood it, at least, was that these paragraphs were meant to be brief statements composed of basic personality traits and plot developments about the character, rather then a bloated summary of the entire article. Is that correct?--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 03:18, 7 March 2010 (EST)

  • It depends on the character. For most characters, the lead sentence should be one line. For some characters who have appeared multiple times, the introduction might be a little longer--I can see Meredith's introduction being a short paragraph. Of course, if we've been with a character for 50+ episodes, of course the introduction will be a little longer--maybe a paragraph or two. Sylar, for instance, is one of the most complex characters, with an extremely rich history, and with a variety of affiliations. Hope that helps. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:13, 7 March 2010 (EST)

Primatech Files

I've put rename tags on the present Primatech's files, and on the older files. Just wanted to let you know. --mc_hammark 13:11, 7 March 2010 (EST)

Amanda's sudden disappearance

Still not clear on how (or if) the writers plan on explaining her disappearance from the Carnival, but I found out the actress who plays her took a job acting in Pretty Little Liars, a new series that begins airing in June 2010 on ABC Family.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:33, 7 March 2010 (EST)

  • My initial take on the odd HI note was that Amanda's story would be explained in an upcoming graphic novel or something. I now just think she remained back at the carnival site or somewhere nearby, mourning her mother. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:35, 7 March 2010 (EST)
    • Agree. My guess is that Amanda was away grieving somewhere when the Carnival suddenly teleported to NYC without her... Otherwise, I think she would have confronted Noah and Claire when they arrived to the Carnival in NYC, and would have been one of the toughest people for them to convince.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:47, 7 March 2010 (EST)
      • There's also the possibility that Edgar got her out of harms way. She would have trusted him, most probably more than anyone else. --mc_hammark 11:51, 8 March 2010 (EST)

Charlie

You put that Charlie had a son in law. Did you get confirmation, or are you just going by the wife's hair, taking it as she is the daughter? --mc_hammark 18:08, 8 March 2010 (EST)

What happened (2)

I wanted to say that it has been four months since the last episode of Chronicles episode, they still return or not.-Adamhiro 19:54 , 9 March 2010 (LT)

  • I don't understand. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:18, 9 March 2010 (EST)
    • I moved it here since he posted into the archive you recently created. --Leckie -- Talk 14:25, 9 March 2010 (EST)
      • Right. What you did makes sense, Leckie. What Adamhiro posted doesn't. I'm assuming he wants to know what happened to the creator of the fan creation Chronicles. I don't know what happened. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:47, 9 March 2010 (EST)

'Gate of Orpheus' and 'III'

Not sure if you heard about them, but I added a pointer about the news on 'Talk:Tim Kring' (they're more Kring news than Heroes news, per se, I think).--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:30, 9 March 2010 (EST)

Blog update

Greetings. :) I saw that you posted a note to the "A Hero's Quest" page. I'm not that talented with updating wikis, but I thought I should tell someone that Hiro's blog has been updated. I apologize if this is rude or obnoxious. I'm just fairly new and don't want to mess it up. :X

Admin rights and DPL on Heroes Wiki FR

Hi,
It has been several times I left messages on Admin talk page regarding admin rights and DPL on the french version of Heroes wiki. Unfortunately, I didn't have any answer. So I started another version of the wiki on Wikia because I would like to improve the look aspect and the content of the french version but I can't because I need admin rights at least to do so. I would prefer to improve this one rather the wikia site. Anyway, can you please ask Admin to enable admin rights for me on the french version?
Here are below some pages I made on Wikia I would like to transfer the style on Heroes Wiki:

Thank you very much. --LIMAFOX76 05:58, 11 March 2010 (EST)

  • Hello, any answer please? --LIMAFOX76 04:20, 16 March 2010 (EDT)
    • I haven't heard back from Admin. Have you tried emailing him? His email address is admin at heroeswiki dot com. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:02, 16 March 2010 (EDT)
      • I did already a long time ago by his email adress but I didn't get any answer.--LIMAFOX76 08:22, 16 March 2010 (EDT)

Veronica90's edit seems like spam. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 12:51, 11 March 2010 (EST)

  • For the sake of avoiding a new subheading for a similar topic, I'll leave my message here as well. Serch Fd has this odd fixation on the weather control ability, and has gone so far as to repeatedly edit another's user page to remove a link to the ability, because he claims that he saw it first or something. He's also moved around weather control's place in several See Also sections, one of which belonged to Cockney Heroes' namespace.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 15:07, 11 March 2010 (EST)
    • Thanks, guys. Let me know if you see continued edits, or any other shady edits from other users. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:08, 11 March 2010 (EST)

Ryan I saw you were a big fan of Lord of the Rings, so I thought I'd post this youtube link, its the unofficial Hunt for Gollum prequel. Considering it was made by fans, I was quite impressed, enjoy. [1] -- By Danko CH 19:21, 12 March 2010 (EST)

Sylar comment

After being mindwiped by Matt Parkman, Sylar has only displayed abilities absorbed through empathic mimicry (“Orientation”: telekinesis, electric manipulation, shapeshifting, and flight), which means that power stealing through intuitive aptitude alone is incomplete and dependant upon his mental state to maintain. On the other hand, Sylar’s retention of rapid cellular regeneration could the result of him absorbing Claire Bennet’s DNA in “An Invisible Thread” to shapeshift into her appearance which biologically reinforced the powers stolen in “the Second Coming,” as Noah Bennet in “Fallout” theorized that Sylar’s additional powers are a product of using foreign DNA to alter his own. --Mohara222m 07:22, March 13, 2010

  • Could be. The writers have never followed any hard and fast rules like the ones you proposed above, so I would wait for confirmation (either in-show or out-of-show) before including that theory anywhere in the main namespace pages. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:48, 13 March 2010 (EST)

Sylar's mother

<math>Ryan could you check something for me? Check that Sylar's mother is not Linda Tavara. The supposed confirmation of her death is vague from the interviews they have conducted. Also settle the Victoria Pratt is gay thing? Because Intuitive Empath and I have been having heated discussions over it. Thanks mate. Good luck with those great kids, looking forward to having a few myself.</math> Blood69 08:19, 15 March 2010

  • She's not. Linda died in 1972, and Sylar was only about 5 in 1980. Also, Linda was confirmed dead, and her body was cremated. Sylar's mother is confirmed to be this woman, and his adoptive mother is Virginia Gray. I'm not sure what is vague about it. I don't know what "Victoria Pratt is gay thing" you're talking about. There has been no confirmation (or even hints) as to Victoria's sexual preference. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:44, 15 March 2010 (EDT)

The future of the show

Hi RGS, I was wonderig if it's possible that NBC never is going to make a statement about the future of Heroes? Since it has been a few... weeks/months without any news.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 17:54, 15 March 2010 (EDT)

  • They will definitely make a statement, or either include (or not include) Heroes when they announce their fall line up. The last I heard was maybe two weeks ago, when Angela Bromstad (from NBC) said she was in talks with Tim Kring about the possible future of the show. It was hard to tell if the talks were good or bad, and she wouldn't elaborate. But really, at this point, we just don't have any news on the future of the show... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:02, 15 March 2010 (EDT)
    • We should know for sure by NBC's upfront presentation on May 17, 2010, but I would guess that we might hear something before then.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:15, 21 March 2010 (EDT)

Greg Grunberg's word

Hey, I know you must be tired of all these questions about the inner workings of NBC and the Heroes Crew, but..... I have a question :P. Greg Grunberg seems quite convinced that there will be a season 5, based on his answers in an interview and his twitter page. In your opinion, is this enough to assume that there will be a new season or is Greg not as clued in as he sounds?--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 17:44, 18 March 2010 (EDT)

Using templates from "Heroes Wiki"

Hey Ryan, I would like to know whether you mind about Sylarpedia Wiki using some of the templates (e.g. Abilities, Characters) over on "Sylarpedia Wiki"? If we do we will add a note at the bottom of every note saying "This template was taken, with permission, from Heroes Wiki". Is this alright? --Leckie -- Talk 10:41, 20 March 2010 (EDT)

War Buddies Part 5

Sorry about the edit. I moved the link for part 7 to the see also section because I thought it'd be best there, since it is something we suggest the reader also sees. I don't think it belongs in the notes, I see that section more for technical or production notes. And I only removed the heading by accident, I didn't see the next sentence. What do you think? --mc_hammark 12:30, 22 March 2010 (EDT)

  • The notes are really for any notes about the page. There are lots of other notes similar to that one for many of the early graphic novels. I actually combined the notes and trivia so it would work a bit better. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:39, 22 March 2010 (EDT)

Piped Text

How do you type the pipe in a link? Do you just have to copy/paste it?--Boycool42 16:50, 22 March 2010 (EDT)

  • That's one way. Another way is to use pipe. But really, the easiest way is to just find the pipe on your keyboard. On my keyboard, it's just above the Enter button, right below the backspace. The regular button is a backslash ( \ ), and if you use shift, you make a pipe ( | ). Hope you find it! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:43, 22 March 2010 (EDT)
    • Thanks!--Boycool42 07:15, 23 March 2010 (EDT)

Deleting

I'm making a list of some pages I want deleted I make, where should I post this then when I want some pages removed? -- (WaterRatj) 21:25, 23 March 2010 (EDT)

  • In general, you can just put the afd tag on the page, and an administrator will get around to it. But I'll be online for another hour or so, and you can just let me know when the list is finished, and I'll take care of the deletes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:27, 23 March 2010 (EDT)
    • Okay thanks, so in future requests how do I apply tag to a page? -- (WaterRatj) 21:30, 23 March 2010 (EDT)

Terraterra45

Besides messing up the formatting of theory pages, user Terraterra45 has wiped Intuitive Empath's user page and, after being warned by him and Mc hammark, has now called IE a "conceited asswipe".--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 12:36, 26 March 2010 (EDT)

  • That's because he's new-ish and doesn't understand all the editing and patrolling rules. Plus, I would be pretty "peeved" if someone undid all my edits. --Boom D  17  13:11, 26 March 2010 (EDT)
    • That doesn't give him an excuse to wipe user pages and verbally abuse others. If he's confused, he should have left a message on IE's page asking him why his edits were undone. Plenty of other new users have figured that out.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 13:34, 26 March 2010 (EDT)

New wiki

Hey Ryangibsonstewart. I need some help! I want to create a wiki about superpowers. Every superpower demonstrated in fiction in one wiki. I want it to be in Wikia. And I need people with wiki experience and I see you have it! So will you accept? --Imax99 11:17, 28 March 2010 (EDT)

  • That already exists, but I'd be in. It needs a lot of work though. --mc_hammark 11:22, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
    • Yeah I saw it but it has only a few pages and no activity! And I also want a fresh start! Here is a link to mine.--Imax99 13:09, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
  • Thanks for the invitation, but I'll have to decline. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:07, 28 March 2010 (EDT)

Request Protection

Need to request protection to Mindy's page, Chris Coolidge's page and their ability pages. The released assignment trackers have quite a bit of contradictory stuff in them, so a couple of us think it's best if the page is protected. If you could do so, that'd be great. :) --mc_hammark 18:26, 28 March 2010 (EDT)

  • We generally don't protect pages around here. I haven't seen the AT pages yet, so let me check them out...but we usually handle disputes in the notes. If there is an issue, then we can put commented out notes, and we should definitely be using the talk pages. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:33, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
    • This is one of the biggest inconsistencies ever to occur in Heroes. My WHFmeter broke when I saw Chris' AT profile. Situation is borderline FUBAR. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 20:09, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
      • Women's Health Foundation? :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:14, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
        • What? Oh, typo, I meant WTFmeter. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 20:16, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
          • Yeah, I gotcha. It is pretty screwed up. Not a biggie--we'll just put the screw-ups (the ability images) in the notes. The rest is okay as is. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:21, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
            • so Chris Coolidge is female and has empathic manipulation, does he or I should say she?--Blood69 19:38, 29 March 2010 (EDT)
              • :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:56, 29 March 2010 (EDT)
                • Ok, Ryan, alteration is required for the assignment trackers. I implore you to make changes to the trackers. --Blood69 08:15, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
                  • I'm not sure what you need me to do. Could you please be more specific? What changes need to be made? Is it something that can only be done by an administrator? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:02, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
                    • He probably means change the AT at Primatechpaper.com --Leckie -- Talk 07:52, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
                      • I'm still not understanding what changes would need to be made to primatechpaper.com. The information from the Assignment Tracker 2.0 page is transcluded on the primatechpaper page. What changes exactly need to be made? And why does an administrator have to do it? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:46, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
                        • I guess he means to fix the mistakes on the assingment tracker page (e.g. Chris being female, he has empathic manipulation that sorta thing), dunno if he thinks only an admin can do it though :/ --Leckie -- Talk 11:07, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
                          • The AT facsimiles we have here are simply a recreation of the actual ATs themselves. So if it says Chris is female, so do ours. Of course, Chris is not female, so his actual page should always refer to him as a male, obviously. But I'm not sure anything needs to be protected. I really don't like keeping editors from editing pages. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:58, 1 April 2010 (EDT)

Bob Dylan Portal?

Hey Ryan, I'm just wondering would Bob Dylan be added to the portal "References to People"? I'm confused about it :/ --Leckie -- Talk 15:22, 31 March 2010 (EDT)

  • Nevermind, since he worked on the soundtrack I guess he's a crew member. --Leckie -- Talk 15:28, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
    • References to People. He worked on the soundtrack, but we don't have articles about everybody who worked on the soundtrack. An article needs to be written because he's been referenced in the graphic novels. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:03, 31 March 2010 (EDT)

Disbanded users

What's the rules for, for lack of a better word, disbanded users's pages? I noticed User:Chrisyu357 had this page going on. The user hasn't been active since 2008, so are we just free to edit it? (obviously I mean in a positive way, adding any missed characters). --mc_hammark 16:18, 31 March 2010 (EDT)

  • Chris has always been cool with people editing that page, so as far as I'm concerned, there's no problem with you editing that particular page. We don't really have a policy about subpages created by inactive members. I think you should take it on a case-by-case situation. Let me know if you have a specific question about a page, like you did above. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:08, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
