AT's and Summaries
Hey Ryan, I was wondering if you could maybe see whats going on (with one of your contacts) with Chris Coolidge and Mindy Sprague with their assignment trackers? That is if you have the time? Please? Thanks :D Also the new one? The password was given in the blizzard video any word when that one comes out? (I'm assuming its Maury's)--"The Listener" 09:50, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
- I've asked, and the only response I've gotten is to "wait and see". :( -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:43, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
ALSO! I know this has been brought up but the season summaries...I think characters such as Meredith, Maya heck even Danko. I bring this up because I have noticed that characters such as Bob and Eric have histories? Maya was a MAIN character who continued for two seasons so I believe they do need some...also Adam. :D Let me know --"The Listener" 09:50, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
- Maya was a main character, but she barely appeared. Archiving histories has less to do with their status as a character, and simply more to do with the length of the character's page. I personally don't see any of those pages as being too long, so I don't see why they would need to have their histories archived, especially considering that none of those characters show very much promise of returning. If they do return and make more appearances, then that's a different story...but we wouldn't archive just on the idea that they could come back. Until then, it's nice to have all their latest history in one place. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:43, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
I asked Oliver Grigsby about the ATs, and he's not really sure what's going on and why they're so messed up :\ --Ricard Desi 13:25, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
Chris Coolidge Problems
So a few problems within this site and on the assignment tracker itself.. Most importantly, the AT states that Chris's ability is Empathic manipulation in one place and Electric manipulation in another place. IF his ability truly is Empathic manipulation, I can understand how a mistake was made so that the picture is one of Electric manipulation. But seeing as his ability is NOT Empathic manipulation, something is definitely wrong. Because of these mistakes or non-constancies, there are a few mistakes within Heroeswiki. For example, in the notes section of Empathic manipulation [1], where it states that Chris has this ability. You can see how many problems could arise because of these conflicting details so a solution/answer must be found quickly. I already put this paragraph onto his talk page, but I thought I should put it here as well to make sure you saw it. I thought that you could talk/email writers or Heroes staff in general to find out what went wrong. Thanks --Peter 19:07, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
- Peter, look at the post above this one. Ryan's already asked. And on Chris's talk page I left a message there explaining why we note these things. --mc_hammark 19:33, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
- Peter, I can't help what the actual Assignment Tracker says. All we can do at Heroes Wiki is chronicle what we see, even if it's a mistake. I've emailed several writers and producers. Some have not gotten back to me, some have told me to wait and see, and one producer (my former boss) asked me to only direct questions to them and not to writers. Fair enough. But so long as there is a mistake, we need to chronicle what we see in the notes. So the note on the empathic manipulation page needs to stay...however I can clear it up a bit so that it is clearer... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:25, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
Quote
Hey Ryan, do you remember if there is a Sylar's quote who he tell "I did it"? --TanderixUTCR 14:53, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
- In Truth & Consequences, Maya asks if Sylar killed his mother. Sylar says, "It's true. I did it. I killed her." -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:02, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
Redirects
I noticed you deleted those redirects for Mindy's ability. Just wondering, what are the rules for making redirects?--BOYCOOL -- THE END IS NIGH. 22:16, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
- No set rules. If a redirect is needed, we make it. I personally think three abbreviations for an ability name is overkill, especially when none of the three of them is being used. But whatever. However, there is no need to create redirects for the talk pages. Nobody will be typing in "Talk:EATR" to look for the ability's talk page. The only time a talk page needs a redirect is if the main page is moved. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:30, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
- Ah, ok. The whole Talk:Rene/The Haitian article kinda threw me off.--BOYCOOL -- THE END IS NIGH. 22:36, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
- That's understandable. The reason Talk:The Haitian redirects to Talk:René is because there was originally a talk page created while the page was called "The Haitian". When the base page was moved, so was the talk page. That's not the case for any of the EATAR redirects--"Talk:EATAR" never existed, and really doesn't need to....Let me know if you have any other questions... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:31, 3 April 2010 (EDT)
- Ah, ok. The whole Talk:Rene/The Haitian article kinda threw me off.--BOYCOOL -- THE END IS NIGH. 22:36, 2 April 2010 (EDT)
ID span
- What's an ID span?--BOYCOOL -- THE END IS NIGH. 09:02, 3 April 2010 (EDT)
- It's code that can be used for a few different things...but we basically use it to allow jumps to spots where the subheading might be different than the jump we're looking for, or for places where there is no subheading. See Season 2 DVD#Alternate Ending and Untold Stories for an example of the first, and List of multilingual characters#note2 for an example of the second. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:07, 3 April 2010 (EDT)
Storyboards
- Do you have pictures of any of the storyboards for the "Generations Alternate Ending" or the "Inside The Alternate Ending of Generations" interview?--BOYCOOL -- THE END IS NIGH. 15:29, 3 April 2010 (EDT)
- I don't have any storyboards for the alternate ending. All the storyboards I have are uploaded to this site. They don't do storyboards for interviews. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:46, 3 April 2010 (EDT)

Items
For things such as Sylar's paintings which we know are not in his possession, should we not put that it's unknown where they are in the status? After all, we've not seen them for two years, and Sylar doesn't have them... --mc_hammark 07:16, 7 April 2010 (EDT)
- We actually don't know that they have an unknown status, either. The last time we saw them was with Sylar. (Where is he living right now, anyway?) :) I think we should just not put anything--just leave that section blank, and then we're not making a statement one way or another about whether the paintings are in Sylar's possession, or whether they're at an unknown location. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:36, 7 April 2010 (EDT)
AT problem - extra lines
Rather then add so many extra lines, it might be simpler to just use a <br clear="all"/>.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:56, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- Where? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:57, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- I think it would be simplest in the template, where you added the option to add extra lines. Not sure if that would work, but I thought it might be worth a try.--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:03, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- Oh, I see what you're talking about. Let me finish the coding real quick, and then let me try that. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:05, 11 April 2010 (EDT)
- clear all doesn't play with div. It's like the div overrides the clear all, almost like the div kind of talks its own language, and everything else is subordinate to it. Maybe you might have better luck finding a different position for it? Or if you have any other suggestions, I'm open to them... The "extra lines" is more of a brute force method--not ideal, but it gets the job done. If you think something else might work, feel free to try it out, or to bounce ideas off me. :) Thanks for your help, Miami! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:13, 11 April 2010 (EDT)

Deletion
Hey there Ryan, hope you've been well in the month or so since I've spoken to you last. I was hoping that you'd be able to delete the articles listed here, and then the list itself. I'm sorry, I know it's a lot. I appreciate it :)--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 18:52, 12 April 2010 (EDT)

Archiving
Hey Ryan, how are you doing? Need help - how do I archive my talk page?
AltesUTC CH 11:03, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
- You can either move your page to a page called something like "User talk:Altes/Archive" (to preserve the history) and then restart a new talk page for regular conversation...or the preferable method is just to cut the contents of your full talk page and past them into an archive page ("User talk:Altes/Archive"). On the new archive page, it's a good idea to put {{archivepage}} at the top. It's also a good idea to put a link to the archive page somewhere on the regular talk page. If you need more help, let me know. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:14, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
Twitter and Facebook
I said a while ago I contacted you about the Heroes Wiki twitter and facebook, and since the season ended it completely went from my mind. I just want to check where we are on the situation? Thanks. --mc_hammark 13:31, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
- I've been updating the Facebook site on a weekly basis, responding to fans, etc. Since we really haven't had anything to announce (no new interviews, no news, etc.) there hasn't been anything post on Twitter. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:57, 13 April 2010 (EDT)

Hey Ryan, Implader keeps making changes to Matt Parkman's page (changing his power and generally vandalising it), he has already been warned by Radicell yet he is continuing to do it. He is also making abilities, that aren't abilities. I have reverted the edits to Matt's page and have marked the Fire Mimicry page for deletion. Revision
Hey, Please check the sources of three of my images: Image:Filefaora.jpg, Image:Filedream.jpg & Image:Filezankou.jpg and please let me know if I've fixed them right! Thanks for the heads up! -- Watchtower 18:35, 25 April 2010 (EDT)
- Not quite. Is Filefaora a screenshot? Then you'll want to use the image-screenshot template, and note underneath it that it's from Smallville. The source is not Smallville Wikia. Did you take the picture of Filedream yourself? If so, you can just put that as the source. If not, you'll need to put the source of the image. Your MySpace page is not a source. Google images is also not a source, so you'll need to find the actual source for Filezankou. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:58, 25 April 2010 (EDT)
- Filefaora.jpg is indeed a screenshot. Filezankou.jpg was from imdb.com and Filedream.jpg was a photo I took with my digital camera while displayed on the computer. Hopefully I sourced those files right this time. Watchtower 22:51, 25 April 2010 (EDT)

Idea (and vandal)
Hey Ryan, I just wanted to run this by you quickly. On Wikipedia and other "(insert topic here) Wiki"s, they have user box type things, little boxes that say things like "This User contributes with Mozilla FireFox" or "This user ships (insert character) and (insert character)". I thought it'd be cool to have things like that here and have started to make a few. What do you think of this?
Also, I accidentally welcomed a spammer. Sorry X(.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 21:59, 25 April 2010 (EDT)
- No worries about the vandal. It's better to err on the side of being too nice than not welcoming enough. :) As for the user boxes, feel free to make some (or rather, make some more). There's quite a few userbox templates that have already been made, including ones for different nationalities, browser preferences, and general information. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:02, 26 April 2010 (EDT)

Buttons when creating new pages
Hey Ryan. Could you give me a rundown about how those "buttons" work when we try to create new pages? I know that it's a MediaWiki file, but I'm not sure which one -- and I'm wondering how it gets the "Newpage" templates to preload. The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to set up the same thing over at The 4400 Wiki. Does this require server-access-rights to set up? If you could at least point me to the right files, that'd be appreciated. --Radicell 08:33, 8 May 2010 (EDT)
- The key page is MediaWiki:Newarticletext. I think some versions of MediaWiki use MediaWiki:Newarticletextanon (where we've included newarticletext). After that, we've created several templates for the "buttons", like Template:Newwebisodebuttons, Template:Templatebutton, and the big one at Template:Newarticletextbuttons. (There are others, too.) The trick to getting the templates to preload is simply in using the preload command, action=edit&preload=Template:welcomeuser. I'm not sure how Wikia works, but I would imagine you would need administrative rights to the wiki you're trying to modify. I hope that helps--if you need anything else, Radicell, let me know. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:04, 8 May 2010 (EDT)

This vandal is seriously damaging the wiki. Help. --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Amen. 12:12, 27 May 2010 (EDT)
- Actually. Since there's not going to be many new pages or that to be added, is there any way to completely stop the creation of new articles? That would stop things like this happening, and if they vandalise pages, we can easily revert them. It's just with the new pages that we can't do anything till an admin gets on. --mc_hammark 12:19, 27 May 2010 (EDT)
- Mainspace articles only please. --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Amen. 12:21, 27 May 2010 (EDT)
- I took care of em and cleared out the articles. I'd rather leave it unlocked for now, but in the future I'll probably make it a little more restrictive (but not totally locked down). It is a wiki afterall. :) Joke's on him, he wasted all that time vandalizing and it took me like a minute to just purge it all. :) (Admin 16:50, 27 May 2010 (EDT))
- I agree, I don't think we need to lock down the wiki. It seriously takes an admin about a minute to revert even a serious vandal's hard work. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:36, 27 May 2010 (EDT)

No PArt 8
So is there no graphic novel, either? Have u and the others been sacked too, Ryan?--Blood69 12:17, 27 May 2010 (EDT)
- My contract with NBC ended back in February when the season ended. So did many of the other employees, like Zach Wilson. I know an eighth part was written and illustrated and is planned to be released (Ollie Grigsby said so, even after the cancellation of Heroes), but I have no idea when it will be released. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:37, 27 May 2010 (EDT)
Character appearances
Hi Ryan, I would like to create a Character Appearances. It would be very similar to the Lostpedia.wikia.com and 24.wikia.com Character Appearances.-Adamhiro 17:58 , 28 May 2010 (LT)
- See character appearances. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:02, 28 May 2010 (EDT)
- I was just going to say, character appearances doesn't exist, though the pages for each season etc do. I'll get onto it straight away. Should it be like a disambig page? --mc_hammark 11:03, 28 May 2010 (EDT)
- I could create Main Characters Appearance page-Adamhiro 18:35 , 28 May 2010 (LT)
- Why? I don't see how that would be any different than the appearance pages we already have, which have a lot more information on them. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:05, 28 May 2010 (EDT)
