Wikipedia.com said that Orientation will premire on September 7, 2009. Is that true? --Iheartheroes

It airs on September 21st, at least according to us. And I think we're accurate.--ERROR 09:46, 20 July 2009 (EDT)

Anyone know when this airs in the UK, the BBC site is useless for air dates :( --Fr0z3nB0nes 06:17, 13 September 2009 (EDT)

Mohinder?

Where the heck has Mohinder gone? Is he still a main character or will he be a special guest star like D.L. when he does appear. It's a bit mysterious as to why he has vanished off the grid SlicinDicinEdgar

Peter's agile ability

Peter sort of thanked Dr. Suresh after talking about his job and using his ability for it. Does that mean he replicated it some how?--Catalyst · Talk · HL 22:21, 21 September 2009 (EDT)

So what do we do? Draw back Mohinder's name from every Super strength list and have to update his page as well as his original powers page?...
    • Well we don't really know how Peter got the power (if it is Mohinder's old power).--Catalyst · Talk · HL 22:32, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
      • I think [Peter:"Being stronger, more agile, a little trick I picked up thanks to Dr. Suresh"] pretty much seals the deal on the fact he picked it up from Mohinder!--Anthony Gooch 22:38, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
        • Yes, so going back and removing mohinder from the Super Strengh lists is about all we can do.--Piemanmoo 13:48, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
          • Hey, don't remove Mohinder from those lists. Knox, for example, gained strength by absorbing fear. Michael Fitzgerald's ability is "enhanced strength [and] durability", according to Sylar (Viewpoints). So why can't Mohinder have this ability and use it in his own unique way? Green.gif AltesUTC CH
            • He's not using the same ability in a unique way, he's using an entirely new ability. Niki and Knox and Scott didn't have super reflexes as well, y'know. While it is confusing based on what BTE told us, Peters new comments show us that Mohinder still has more than just enhanced strength.--Piemanmoo 14:03, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
              • No doubt there's more to it than just strength. Only Knox, as far as I know, has an assignment tracker which explicitly names his ability. As for others... Everyone with ES manifests it in their own unique way - Niki had a split personality, Knox absorbed fear, Michael Fitzgerald's tattos and eyes glowed (and he had durability, according to Sylar), so Mohinder may have his own aspects. Oh, and of Scott we know little. Green.gif AltesUTC CH
                • What you say makes sense Altes, but don't forget that we had an ability called Mohinder's ability and the side-effects of it was probably due to the not-well-prepared formula (Anthony Gooch also said that above). Therefore, one can examine every scene where Mohinder is using his abilities, after the Pinehearst explosion -- because it's where-and-when Mohinder's ability was "corrected". I think however that Peter Petrelli made the point indicating that he got his power from Suresh. Therefore Anthony's right; Mohinder's ability was misconstrued for super strength instead of just the cured version of his original ability --Janrodrigo 14:37, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
                  • Well, considering running and jumping takes effort, we could argue that Peter was simply using super strength to jump and lead further than normally possible, and since we wasn't going super fast, he could somewhat coordinate these movements. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:59, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
                    • And we could also argue that Sylar doesn't actually take anyone's power, he just uses TK to manipulate everything around him in varying ways. Here we have an explicit statement that Mohinder's ability includes extraordinary agility. There should be no question about it. --Yamawhata? 16:36, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
        • didn't mohinder originally state, before his mutations took over, that his ability made him faster, stronger, and smarter, or something along those lines? So he seems to have some sort of uber-man ability that enhances everything.
          • Yes, he did. Before the mutations began Mohinder's ability enhanced his physical attributes "to the peak of human potential." That seems to be the case here. I am in favour of withdrawing Mohinder from the super strength pages, because as was said above, this is not gaining an ability in a different way, but using a different ability entirely. Swm 07:51, 27 September 2009 (EDT)

Foreshadowing could prove to be ironic twist....

Did anyone else notice Gretchen....it slips my mind what she said verbatim...somethinng to the effct of: It keeps getting easier while she was playing guitar hero although she stated she never played, and how she had some humungo-sized forensics books and was using termanology out the wazoo...seems like she's a fast learner huh?...she kinda seems...hmm...what's the word I'm looking for....maybe intuitive? Ya see where I'm going with this...--Anthony Gooch 22:22, 21 September 2009 (EDT)

  • I thought maybe a bigger memory.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 22:23, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Ok, I could see that too...but how ironic would it be for Claire to make friends with someone who shares the same power as her arch-nemisis, and for her to witness Gretchen become consumed by (that is, if she has it) the hunger Sylar has and watch her become little miss Sylarette!--Anthony Gooch 22:27, 21 September 2009 (EDT)

And what's with this Samuel chap...

Hmmm...let's talk abilities. Now, what chemical/substance is in not only earth/dirt but ink as well, and is present enought to the point where he can control it...petrol? carbon? lead?...just throwing some things out there!--Anthony Gooch 22:47, 21 September 2009 (EDT)

  • possible... it seems improbable though, I mean he strangled a guy with it. kindly explain how you can strangle someone with a tiny layer of petrol. -Tsmarg
    • I was thinking he was ANOTHER empath... since edgar told him he ran into one, and Samuel seems to have different abilities going on. --Action Figure 23:49, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Wait, then again if that were true he could just time travel himself... --Action Figure 23:49, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
      • May be he did -- how did he return back? --Janrodrigo 08:41, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

Yes, i would have to agree, he must have some type of empathic or power absorbing ability, everything fits. i believe that he may have absorbed Rapid Cell Regeneration and imprinting permanently but cannot for whatever reason hold on to certain powers how else would he get back from the past, from the conversation it doesn't sound like the old man went with him, he either just waited (Rapid Cell Regeneration)or temporarily had Space Time Manipulation.--User:Feddy321 13:35, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

  • I don't see how imprinting would have done the strangling thing. I believe this ink has some sort of earth based compound which Samuel is able to control. I don't think he's an empath, he needs to do more for me to think he's an empath. About the time traveling, I think that the old man's ability is something like shifting, but he doesn't require someone else to send things to, and that he's not limited to location, being able to send things and people through time as well, kinda like water explosion future Peter did to Matt, but in time as well as in space. One of the Best Episodes Ever

Honestly, everything about this episode/ Jump, Push, Fall was amazing. From the acting to the story development, everything was perfect. It's great to see actresses like Ali Larter and Hayden "come out of their shells" a bit. Ali has a much more important part in the show now (did I sense romance between her and HRG?), while Claire's part at college fits her perfectly. This is by far one of my favorite episode(s), and I am REALLY excited about the rest of the season. What about you guys? Dean 01:47, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

  • Ditto! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:58, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Hmm, In my opinion Orientation was great, Jump, Push, Fall however was just a standard Heroes type of episode. I think it might have done better if episode two was written by a different writer. Looking at Kring's work for 42 minutes is great, but close to one and a half hour is just to much. -- Smouvy 13:30, 22 September 2009 (GMT)
      • I’m not sure if it was the new directorial style, the lack of Mohinder, or the fact that my friend—who happens to be a Heroes skeptic—kept calling me during the commercial breaks, but I became very uneasy about the two episodes. In fact, once they were over, I believe I began hyperventilating! However, before bed, I resolved that the only way I would find peace was to watch the episodes again, with an opened mind. They were much better the second time, and I am looking forward to seeing what Tim and the gang come up with for “Redemption.” Still, I am shocked at the absence of my favorite character—who I understand isn’t the most popular guy on the block—Mohinder. I am very disappointed that Greg Beeman and Allan Arkush will not be returning… I suppose it’s a prime example of a television show’s evolution. Oh well, Heroes will keep going on (for now, at least) and I, as a fan, am very pleased that it will do so. --Lynn Dolyn 12:53, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
        • I think that with Orientation, Heroes started to orient itself to a new way. It felt as if it has a new style having too much potential.. just feeling that it requires few episodes may be less, so that the new style readily stands on its feet. Anyhow, it was wonderful and amazing and awesome. I agree with Lynn Dolyn however about Mohinder. And I'm hoping that he'll return as soon as possible. Lost in Heroes --Janrodrigo 13:18, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

        • Yes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:39, 23 September 2009 (EDT)
          • I am disappointed however, to see that Heroes is in a bad spot for ratings. It really is a great show, and the two hour premier was amazing. What is it that people do not like about it? Dean 19:04, 24 September 2009 (EDT)

Peter

I'm a ****ing loser, I didn't watch the premiere *cries* does Peter have multiple abilities now, did his AR evolve? Green.gif AltesUTC CH

  • Ha! You'll just have to wait to find out, won't you! :) Ah, I'm teasing. Yes, he has multiple abilities. He used Mohinder's ability, super speed, and possibly flight. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:06, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
    • OMG, I can't wait for this, I just saw that Ali has a bigger role which I love because she was AMZAING as Niki :) --IronyUTC CH 02:31, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
    • No, he had Mohinder's ability, and then got super speed. - Josh (talk/contribs) 03:36, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Also, should we write here that he discarded shape shifting? Green.gif AltesUTC CH
        • I was a little confused, he did seem to throw the speedster with a lot of force just AFTER I heard the characteristic "Mimic" sound. Either he had a momentary overlap, or he just threw the guy really fast. Fourletterfame 08:14, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
          • He did have the element of surprise, from where Edgar was, he couldn't see Peter until he came further into the room. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:59, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
          • I didn't notice any sounds, but I just figured he absorbed the power as he was throwing him. --Yamawhata? 16:39, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
            • When did he possibly use flight?--Ratclaws 16:53, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
              • RGS, how do you know he has multiple abilities? He showed Mohinder's and then super speed, but we didn't see anything canonically that would prove that he still has both. --Jrrenola 21:38, 25 September 2009 (EDT)

        • Her power is empathy (but not empathic mimicry). That was confirmed by a writer. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:53, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
          • Empathy still redirects to EM, Ryan. Green.gif AltesUTC CH
            • Right, it needs to be fixed...eventually. I have quite a bit of information about Lydia from the writers, but I don't want to share it because it's spoilerific. But to answer the original question asked here, I think the ink forming on Lydia's back has to do with either Samuel's ability or with the ink itself. Lydia's ability is being able to understand who the person. She feels empathy through her tattoos. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:27, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

Samuel

I know the "press release" called him a regular, but our conventions state only those people listed in the opening credits (before the "Guest Staring" credits come on) can be considered main cast members. I say we follow the conventions and list Samuel as a guest star untill we see "Robert Knepper" in the begining credits. For all we know, the producers or whoever may have changed their minds and want him to be guest only. But as of right now, he isn't credited on the show as main cast, and therefore should not be considered main cast. --Skullman1392 19:22, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

  • I guess I agree. He might not be a main character yet but maybe he will become on another episode...~~IHHTalk 19:33, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Not all main characters are mentioned in all the opening credits. And really, our conventions don't say anything about opening credits, but about contracts that actors have with NBC. The opening credits are usually a very easy way to figure out the regulars from the guests. However, since I've never seen Robert Knepper's contract :), if he continues to be billed as a guest star, I'll inquire further. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:37, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

Solution to Math Problem on Placement Test

Not sure how the solution that's on the page now came to be, but I got the general solution:

x=2.4-s-.4t

y=3.8-s-1.8t

w=s

z=t

There might be discrepancy on what the problem was on the board because of the camera angles and the prof's handwriting, but this is what I saw on the board:

x+2y+3w+4z=10

2x-y+w-z=1

3x+y+4w+3z=11

-2x+6y+4w+10z=18

Does anyone agree or disagree?

Rudeboy37 19:47, 23 September 2009 (EDT)

  • I agree about the question. --Janrodrigo 19:55, 23 September 2009 (EDT)
    • But, I don't about the solution. I just solved the equation now. The solution follows:
x = y = w = z = 1

--Janrodrigo 20:22, 23 September 2009 (EDT)

  • That is correct but it is one of many solutions. The system is dependent which means it has an infinite amount of solutions of the form I gave. It is not necessary to write the solutions with parameters (s and t), but that is a way to write them in a Linear Algebra class. You could also just write the general solution as the following:
x=2.4-w-.4z; y=3.8-w-1.8z
If you plug these in for x and y they will work. Also, if you plug in your solution of 1,1,1,1 in to my solution it will also work. An example of another solution that satisfies the system is x=2.4, y=3.8, w=0, z=0--Rudeboy37 22:58, 23 September 2009 (EDT)

Speaking of the placement test, what the hell was that thing that claire done? Why was she grunting? --mc_hammark 13:24, 24 September 2009 (EDT)

Full Synopsis

Would anyone mind if I submitted an entirely new synopsis? The current one has a large number of gaps, somewhat confusing English in the parts that are there, and so on. It would IMO be easier to substitute the one I already have, rather than salvage and rewrite the one that is already there. I did synopses for last season. Also, can someone submit their own synopsis from another site here. I'm certainly glad to provide whatever evidence is necessary to prove I own the copyright. Alternately, how many minor changes to I need to make to my own work to publish it here? --Gadfly 03:24, 24 September 2009 (EDT)

Yes mate, you should do it. I believe in you! SlicinDicinEdgar

Tracy or Barbara

I know the writers said that they were not going to introduce Barbara, but during Samuel's speech I saw Ali Larter in white clothes, but also the back of a long blond haired woman in what appears to be Tracy's blue suit. I think that they are going to introduce barbara and tracy will meet her. Anyone else? --mc_hammark 13:09, 24 September 2009 (EDT)

  • I kinda hope not. 5 characters is(are?) way to many for anyone to play on a TV show. --Yamawhata? 15:44, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
  • good catch. I looked at the scene and it does appear that barbara runs into tracy. I guess we will have to see how it goes.
    • This is a good point. The look on Tracy/Barbara's face says plenty. Note that the short clip takes place in a hospital, which is where we last saw Tracy, tending to HRG. Could it be possible that Barbara (box-in-hand like office staff) comes to the Emergency Ward in the following episodes? --User:Pious 04:34, 25 September 2009 (BST)
      • I see two options: Barbara works for the carnival, and took Tracy's place working for the governer. Or it is a shapeshifter.--Ratclaws 21:30, 25 September 2009 (EDT)

Noteable trivia or bust?

Did anyone else notice that this, as far as I can tell, marks the first time a graphic novel released a yet-to-be-seen scene prior to the episode happening...Did that make any sense? haha...What I'm saying is, we saw the scene where Tracy attempts to drown Noah in Ice Queen pt 2 before the scene aired in Orientation. Any takers...?

  • haha I got exactly what you meant, and as far as I can tell, this would be the first. Nice catch! --Skullman1392 23:50, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Ahem... In "Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, Part 2", Daphne is watching the scene in which Hiro and Ando open the safe in "The Second Coming".--Gibbeynator 11:15, 25 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Yeah, without actually depicting the scene. Green.gif AltesUTC CH
  • The scene in How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?, Part 1 when Hana visits Ted was released via graphic novel on January 22, 2007. That's almost a full month before the scene officially aired in Unexpected on February 19, 2007. There are lots of other examples, like seeing the wanted posted of Maya and Alejandro in a graphic novel before it ever aired, seeing the Petrelli Mansion in War Buddies, Part 5 before seeing it in .07%, meeting Thompson or Dr. Livitz or Danko in the graphic novels before meeting them in the episodes, getting a glimpse of Echo in Level 5 in Going Postal before it ever aired on television, anything with Daphne (especially her Mona Lisa and watching Ando/Hiro) before she ever appeared...just a few that come to mind. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:25, 25 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Yeah, this is just another example of this thing happening. It's hardly the first time and it's probably far from the last.--Gibbeynator 19:57, 25 September 2009 (EDT)

Oh...well then...never mind.--Anthony Gooch 13:29, 27 September 2009 (EDT)

Nissan Cube and the Palm Pre

How the heck does everyone on the show have a palm pre, and certain people have a Nissan Cube, when these items had not even been released into the market at that time. The Palm Pre and the Cube were released in 2009, but this episode is set in 2008. ??? -Vampirate68 | Talk | Contribs | 20:31, 3 October 2009 (EDT)

Heroes for Hire

Hiro calls his business Dial a Hero, but Kimiko calls it Heroes for Hire. Do you think it is a reference to [this]? --mc_hammark 18:15, 17 October 2009 (EDT)

  • The organization used to be called "Heroes for Hire" in early drafts. See Dial a Hero#Trivia. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:35, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
  • I know that, but do you think it is a reference. Like the same way they refer to star trek and other superheroes? --mc_hammark 13:52, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Possibly...but I don't think so. Especially since they changed the name. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:53, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

Dissappearing Carnival

I know that we started discussing the carnival appearing and disappearing a couple of chapters after this, but it does it at the very beginning. During samuel's speech at joseph's funeral, you can clearly see open hills in the background, then the carnies all head in it's direction and it is there. --mc_hammark 16:10, 13 November 2009 (EST)
