In [[The Agent chapter summaries#Chapter 409|chapter 9 of The Agent]], a Valerie and Victor stuck together from the shoulder to hip, sharing a shirt and pants pass by [[Anna Korolenko|Anna]] in the back tent of a circus after closing time. When Anna is frightened by [[Linda Niles|something]] she sees in a coffin, Victor steps out from Valerie so she can approach Anna. She tells Anna that it is okay and pats her shoulder. The clothes she and Victor were wearing hang off of her; and Victor now stands behind her in his underwear, with all his own limbs. |

A short while later, Doug informs Anna that the government is coming for everyone but himself, and Valerie steps back into her brother. Some time later, Victor and Valerie huddle with Anna and the other circus performers in the dark. They and everyone else freeze as they spot lots of people moving around quietly outside. |
