In chapter 1 of The Civilian, Mensen sits at the park, not moving or talking. Rachel notices him, but doesn't go close.

In chapter 4 of The Civilian, Rachel learns that the drifter at the park is actually former Company agent Mensen, who is hunting down people with abilities. Using information she has received from Alex, Rachel confronts Mensen, who runs away after she reveals that she knows who he is. Rachel tries to find out from Alex why Mensen hates people with powers but Alex refuses to tell her.

Faction Zero

In chapter 1 of Faction Zero, Mensen lurks outside Vic's comic book store in Costa Verde, posing as a homeless man. When Claire Bennet approaches Vic, he pretends to be drunk but Claire gets him to admit he is looking for information on Sabine Hazel's whereabouts. Next, he says he needs to make a call. However, Rachel Mills appears behind him and disables him. Before Mensen can be moved, he is shot dead by a sniper somewhere down the street.

In chapter 2 of Faction Zero, after Rachel goes through Mensen's personal belongings, she tells the gang at Sam's Comics that she found Mensen's motel key at the Costa Verde Police Station. However, when she got to the hotel, one of his buddies was cleaning out Mensen's stuff.

In chapter 3 of Faction Zero, Claire recalls that Mensen was searching for information about Sabine Hazel.
