* I'm getting ready to test out allowing new user registrations again. The past captchas are woefully inadequate anymore, so I'm switching to one that asks you pre-defined questions. My goal is to try to make the questions easy enough for people to answer without providing the answer itself in the question. e.g. "Which of these is a primary color: red yellow blue" (as an example of an undesirable question). If you have any suggestions for questions that pretty much anyone with a very basic knowledge of Heroes would probably know, feel free to reply here. Just to be on the safe side don't supply any answers to those questions. Besides if it's not something I (or most people) couldn't answer off the top of my head then it's not really an ideal question to have new users answer upon account creation. The new MediaWiki upgrade seems to have introduced a few issues with templates and conditionals, such as [[appearances]] templates no longer correctly forming the right subheading, the [[template:connect]] being messed up on [[Character connections]], and ArchiveLinks no longer working properly on pages like [[Talk:Shattering]]. I noticed in Enigma when Dahlia & 2014 Cassie interact that Cassie isn't wearing the Renautas smart glasses. Also in Enigma during the last meeting between Dahlia & 2014 Cassie, Dahlia doesn't have ask Cassie to do anything about the lasers or the platform she can't jump to because it is to high.
Have you seen any issues where from time to time here where your browser downloads or asks you to download a .js file? * I totally agree! We need to get rid of some stubs... If a section needs to be written to replace a stub, I would start with memory if it's a minor character. Feel free to look at other characters' summaries for those sections to get a clue as to what happened. Some of the webisodes can be found on YouTube and other video sites. I'm pretty sure the videos were also released with the DVDs, but I can't remember without looking at them. Hey Ryan, I had always thought that the cite goes after the period when there's only one cite for that sentence, while it goes before the period when there are other cites in the same sentence. According to your edit though it seems they should always go before the period unless it's at the end of a paragraph? Could you point me to a source that verbalises this clearly? * I don't think there's anything that specifically states how to cite what we're looking for (namely, citing several TV shows as sources of various sentences within a paragraph). If there is, I haven't been able to find it. In the meantime, I've always used [http://ithacalibrary.com/research/mla_parenthetical.pdf this MLA parenthetical guide] as my reference. Long quotes have the cite outside the period. Short quotes have the cite inside the period. That's about the most I've ever seen on the subject. I take that to mean that generally if the cite is at the end of the paragraph, it should go outside the period. But if the cite is within the paragraph, it belongs in the period. ** Ah, good to have a source to go with at least! My issue with this method is that the guide advises to put the cite after the period following a "long quote" and I wouldn't really say that a paragraph is an example of that. After all it isn't as though the final cite is referring to the entire paragraph, but rather the final sentence. I'd argue that such a sentence is just another "short quote" that, rather arbitrarily, comes at the end of a paragraph -- and we should therefore have the cite in front of the period. Having said that, in either case we'd have to make many many changes all across the wiki seeing as up to now I've been doing it the way I described in my first comment. Alternatively, and perhaps in addition, we could be pioneers and come up with our own "style guide" for the exact thing we're doing here, as you pointed out doesn't really exist so far. So with Heroes Reborn ending, we have a lot of stubs out there and frankly most of the new articles are incomplete (including episode pages). Therefore, I am hoping to inspire you and others to do this challenge with me. On my [[User:Iheartheroes|userpage]], I have gone to all of the stubbed pages and separated them out by episode. Therefore, we can rewatch an episode and pay extra attention to these things that have stubs. So, my challenge is to follow this schedule to get everything listed under each category done. **** The future characters shouldn't. They're kind of a weird mix. Since a lot of them are played by principal cast, they can be considered main characters. Since some of them appear quite often, like Future Peter, they can be considered recurring characters (especially when you start adding future plus present appearances). And since some of them only appear once or twice, they can be considered minor characters. For awhile, we used to have the future characters' histories on the same page as the present character. That got really weird when the characters started speaking to themselves, or both were appearing in the same episode (especially Hiro). So we separated the pages, but found it odd to have somebody like Claire become a minor character. So we just made a [[Portal:Future Characters|separate portal for the future characters]]. The one thing that kind of bugs me about that is not the characters that have present-day counterparts, but the ones that ''only'' appear in the future, like the [[Crane boy]] or [[Howard Lemay]]. I'm not opposed to adding a minor character category to those characters so they show up in minor character portals, but I don't think we should do that for characters that appear in the present and the future.<p>As for the animals, some are definite characters that even become recurring characters (like Mr. Muggles), but some are references or thematic elements, like the dinosaur or the cockroach. Animals are kind of a weird element, so unless they become recurring characters, we just put them in [[Portal:Animals]]. If you look at [[Heroes Wiki:Site Statistics/201501|January 2015]] you'll see the general level of wiki traffic for the years Heroes was off the air. Around [[Heroes Wiki:Site Statistics/201502|February 1st]] you'll see the first bump due to the Heroes Reborn promo during the Super Bowl. And of course you can see the traffic around the Heroes Reborn [[Heroes Wiki:Site Statistics/201509|premiere]]. You can compare that traffic with previous years and see our traffic right now isn't too shabby at all. Granted these are viewers, not contributors. I believe the contributors will come in time, though there are a few things in my opinion that could be depressing the numbers:
# High learning curve. A lot of our pages use templates and can be confusing to new editors.
# As Radicell said, many of our prior editors have probably moved on and some may have no interest in Heroes Reborn... or at least not from the editing side.
# As a 13 episode mini-series people may not be as invested in it as they were the original series. With 13 episodes it's easier to track and follow all the info than a series that may have hundreds of episodes.

Third, Bioleech, you're free to create any pages you want as a subpage of your user page. So for instance you could create the article <nowiki>User:Bioleech12/Antagonists</nowiki> and you're allowed to create it pretty much however you'd like. A lot of users start there and if the pages turn out to be very helpful they sometimes get moved over and made into an article in the main namespace. * As a point of interest, it's my understanding that Fair Use is an exception/defense of copyright infringement itself.   • We don't use a template for references like Wikipedia. We just put the source afterwards. So it would just be something like this. (Heroes Reborn: Enigma) ... Differences in Gemini & Enigma

I noticed in Enigma when Dahlia & 2014 Cassie interact that Cassie isn't wearing the Renautas smart glasses. Also in Enigma during the last meeting between Dahlia & 2014 Cassie, Dahlia doesn't have ask Cassie to do anything about the lasers or the platform she can't jump to because it is to high.

  • I think keeping it as El Vengador is fine, since it was about both Oscar and his grandfather, as well as the idea of being El Vengador. It reminds me of the Evs Dropper comics in that way, in that Evs wasn't a single person either. Hey, so there is a lot still to do here for Heroes Reborn and I was wondering if you, me, and maybe some others would like to devote the next couple of weeks to getting it all up to speed. So I'm suggesting this week we really go hard on getting the episode pages done. Summaries, Plots, MQs, etc. You think we can encourage others to help us?

MQ on 501, Synopsis on 506, MQ on 507, Synopsis and MQ on 508, Summary Synopsis and MQ on 509, Synopsis and MQ on 510, Story Dev and Synopsis on 511, Synopsis and Title Card on 512, Synopsis and Title Card on 513. As well, images from the episodes in the Synopsis' on all episodes.

Season Summary

Hey, I realize this is kind of forward looking, but I was updating the Season History templates in case we get another installment and need to do a Reborn portion. I am having difficulties with three things: 1) When I type "Noah Bennet/Heroes Reborn" it does not take me to the button that says "New season summary page" 2) If I were to put it on the original page as {{season summary|season=Reborn}}, then the link appears as [[Noah Bennet/Season Reborn|Noah Bennet: Season Reborn History]] 3) On the top of the Season archive footer template, it will normally link to the previous season history if their is one and I can't seem to work it with the Reborn part Can you help me with these couple things?   • The "new season summary page" is set up to appear when the title "/Season" appears in the subpagename. I can make a workaround for the few individual pages. I don't think we need to do any major structural changes since this really only affects Noah and maybe a handful of other characters.     • Actually, I think the biggest issue is that there was a misspelling on the archive page. It said "Rebron" instead of Reborn" so I don't think it was pulling the info correctly...         • The "if exist" command just means that if the page exists on the wiki, do whatever it says to do. So something like {{#ifexist: Peter Petrelli | [[Peter Petrelli]] | Peter Petrelli }} means that if there is a page called "Peter Petrelli" on the wiki, link it. If not, don't link it. Making this Wiki Pretty Again

Hey,

So with Heroes Reborn ending, we have a lot of stubs out there and frankly most of the new articles are incomplete (including episode pages). Therefore, I am hoping to inspire you and others to do this challenge with me. On my userpage, I have gone to all of the stubbed pages and separated them out by episode. Therefore, we can rewatch an episode and pay extra attention to these things that have stubs. So, my challenge is to follow this schedule to get everything listed under each category done. Hopefully if we all work together and can narrow down where we can help, we can finish this soon.

After this, we have graphic novels, webisodes, ebooks, and ability pages to finish up. But this way, a lot of it can get done. If you can't help one week or something, that's okay! This is just to inspire you and others to team together to get this done, there aren't a lot of pages under each episode, so maybe we could bust it out in a week, but maybe not!
