Not sure if this is the place to put this

But do you know if an Australian TV network is broadcasting Heroes? It was previously on channel Seven but I am not sure whether or not they are showing the latest season. They have had a habit of putting Heroes on later and later as the season progresses and I am unsure whether they will even bother this season.--Steelymcbeam 23:34, 1 February 2009 (EST)

  • Wow, someone in the same boat as me! As far as I know, Seven still own the rights to the show, but will probably air Volume Four, and, by that stage, possibly Five, in the ratings off-season in December-January. If you weren't aware, Heroes hasn't exactly set the ratings on fire in Australia. However, I am hoping they make a Ten HD-style move, and air it on 7HD like Ten have done will Smallville and Battlestar Galactica. -- Tristan0709 talk 00:02, 2 February 2009 (EST)
    • Yeah I know Heroes hasn't been a success in Australia, but from what I gather neither has Lost and that looks to still continue. Hopefully it will be aired, otherwise I can just watch it online.--Steelymcbeam 05:40, 2 February 2009 (EST)

Da premiere

Doing anything big tonight for da pemiere?--Citizen 12:43, 2 February 2009 (EST)

  • My wife is working tonight, and I usually like to wait until she gets home to watch it with her. However, she'll but working till about 11:30, so I might watch it first by myself, then watch it again with her. Shhh. Nothing big, though--we might get some Ben & Jerry's. :) Why, have you got some fun plans for tonight? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 13:24, 2 February 2009 (EST)
    • Well, tonight will mark the first night I'll get to watch Heroes live, so that's quite a thrill. And just live/post-episode chat with fans from 9th. Looking forward to it.--Citizen 15:13, 2 February 2009 (EST)

Super Bowl Commercials

Do you have any HD images of the other two Super Bowl commercials?--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:55, 2 February 2009 (EST)

About Peter's current ability

Before I went and made up another ability, I wanted to get your thoughts on the subject. I was thinking about making "Ability mimicry" and having the description be: The ability to temporarily exhibit the ability of another evolved human after physical contact. It seems that he was no longer able to use the strength he picked up from Mohinder after he touched Tracy and acquired her ability of Freezing. Let me know what you think. --Bentonyang 22:23, 2 February 2009 (EST)

  • I think you're absolutely right, he wasn't able to use Mohinder's strength. It was almost as if he was only able to hold on to one ability at a time. Interesting, too, that Nathan asked him what he was able to do these days, and Peter replied, "What was the last thing you saw me do?" I think that's the essence of his ability now. I don't think that's really been confirmed yet, though, so I'm not sure I would add a new ability page yet. I would get others' opinions on the matter. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:27, 2 February 2009 (EST)
    • That's a great observation, Bentonyang. But Ryan, I'm confused about how we're supposed to list his abilities now... how do you suggest we go about doing that? Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:30, 2 February 2009 (EST)
      • I'm confused, too. I don't have a suggestion that I feel strongly about. Let's get some discussion going on a talk page... -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:32, 2 February 2009 (EST)
    • I figured at first that he had the same ability he had before and that they just added an effect to it. However the fact that they added an effect, coupled with his touching Mohinder (and Tracy) first, plus his comment to Nathan... and finally PLUS their realization that Peter becomes too powerful too easily probably convinced them to alter his ability slightly now that he got it back. It could also explain why he was so worried about getting blown out of the plane rather than just flying back inside. So at this point I think you're right and his ability is now different... which I'm very glad to see. (Admin 22:36, 2 February 2009 (EST))
      • Agree, Admin. I'm very happy that it's different--yet it still maintains the essence of his old ability, which was absorbing the abilities of others. Only now, he seems to absorb them one at a time....If only we had a name for it. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:39, 2 February 2009 (EST)
        • Isn't "ability mimicry" good enough? I mean, empathy doesn't appear to be required at the moment so I don't think that has to be part of the name. The only trouble is that it might be "ability absorption" (what Arthur had), but we won't know until at least next week when we find out if the other people Peter touched on the plane still have their abilities...--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:21, 2 February 2009 (EST)
          • That works for me. It doesn't seem to be Arthur's ability, though--Peter could only have one ability at a time, where Arthur could have multiple. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 00:14, 3 February 2009 (EST)
            • I wouldn't go with ability mimicry, this doesn't suggest that Peter can only take on one ability at a time (it sort of suggest other-wise), I think we should wait until next episode to find out. ---- Bring on the Irony 11:31, 4 February 2009 (EST)

Number of Episodes for Season 3?

Hey Ryan...does season 3 have 26 episodes and is this news? I thought it was supposed to be 24/25? Also, any schedule update, this site shows 26 episodes with the season ending in April end!? Futon Critic The ODI 14:10, 3 February 2009 (EST)

  • There are only 25, as far as I know. In fact, Greg Beeman said there were 25 in last night's blog entry (13 in the first volume, and 12 in the second). Where are you seeing 26 episodes listed on Heroes Wiki? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:47, 3 February 2009 (EST)
    • Oops I guess how I wrote my post, made it sound like the info was listed here on Heroes Wiki, but I actually posted a link to Futon Critic above where it is listed. I sent the info to Andy and he said that FC is a reliable source and gets press releases a day or two early. So perhaps a small typo and will go with Beeman says for now... :) The ODI 17:31, 3 February 2009 (EST)
      • Oh, didn't see the link. Could be 25. I've always trusted Futon Critic in the past, but it's also possible they make mistakes like everyone else. If it's a true thing, I'm sure NBC will promote it, so we'll catch word of it in a day or two if it's authentic. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 19:38, 3 February 2009 (EST)
        • Just got official confirmation direct from Gary Mednick at NBC that it IS 25 episodes with the finale on April 27th. Sucks it will end early, but at least we know now. The ODI 14:46, 4 February 2009 (EST)

Shouldn't we note that 9thwonders.com also links to us now?--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:48, 3 February 2009 (EST)

Question about contributions - user pages created

  • Hi Ryan, long time not internet chat speak :). Is there any way to get a list of user pages created instead of the wiki pages?
(Sorry not to the point, but also (1) Should I create a few of the un-aired character pages as the whole of Seson 2 is virtually blank and I have the DVD so I know who they are. (2) Should I help with the quote pages, most have the afd tag on them so I wasn't sure I should help?) ---- Bring on the Irony 11:37, 4 February 2009 (EST)
    • Use this code:
      {{#dpl:|createdby=Irony|namespace=User|ordermethod=firstedit}}
See the sandbox to check out what it looks like. This link should also list all user pages that start with "Irony" (in case you didn't actually start one of your own pages). Hope that helps!

If you'd like to create some of the unaired character pages, that'd be great! Let me know if you need a hand with them.

I'm not sure what's going on with the quotes pages. I don't think they're a bad idea, but I don't like them exactly as they are now. It should probably be discusses at the community portal--I believe there's already a discussion going on there now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:33, 4 February 2009 (EST)

      • Thanks for the code. You may have noticed that I created the Robert Keep page, but I can't find an image for him (it is on the portal but I can't find it). I was on the community portal talking about the quotes page but the conversation seems to have died down. --Irony - (talk) 15:38, 4 February 2009 (EST)
  • Sorry, I am still having trouble with a few images, you might have to patch some gaps. :) --Irony - (talk) 15:54, 4 February 2009 (EST)
    • That's fine... Here are all the caps, though:

Hope that helps! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:01, 4 February 2009 (EST)

  • It does! (I've copied them into my sandbox so you can delete them if you want (they make the page very long). Thanks :) --Irony - (talk) 16:14, 4 February 2009 (EST)

a few things

Hey Ryan. First off, I notice that the navbar at the top of your talk page needs updating to include your Archive 23 (January 2009). Second, if it's not too much work, could you please delete all the pages/templates inside my User:Radicell/Webisodes project? It's a project I've abandoned, so I don't need those pages/templates anymore. Thirdly, I've notice another example of the naming issue I talked about last time. This time, I think Marie should be moved to Marie (Moonlight Serenade), so that the Marie page can be a redirect to Marie (disambig). I don't think, in this case, that either Marie should be placed above the other. What do you think? --Radicell 05:50, 5 February 2009 (EST)

Character connections

Ryan, do you know if there is a program that would allow me to create a character connection chart? Something like this and this? Something like they have at the Marvel website (like this). Since Heroes has so many characters and we already have a connections page, I thought it'd be interesting to have something like that. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 11:03, 6 February 2009 (EST)

  • Sorry, I don't know of anything specific that could make that kind of a chart. Actually, the two from Lostpedia look like they're just made with an image editor like Gimp. In fact, most of the tools might be available on a program like Microsoft Word or Word Perfect....I feel like I've seen something like that on Facebook...maybe like a relationship chart or something? I don't know specifics, though. Sorry... -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:04, 6 February 2009 (EST)

Building 26

Hey guy...correct me if im wrong...but isn't Hiro and Ando's lair Building 26?....i mean, i'm pretty sure that was the number on the door or the fire house when Hiro opened the door? and if so, is it cool if i put that on the Spoiler Building 26 page--Anthony Gooch 12:28, 6 February 2009 (EST)

Archiving

Hi Ryan. Shouldn't there be a help page on how to archive, I don't need to because nobody ever talks to me See :(. I still think it would be useful though --IronyUTC CH 12:38, 6 February 2009 (EST)

  • We're working something regarding that on the test site, and considering adding a newpage template for automating the archiving. I'm waiting for all that to get sorted out before drafting a help page since I'm guessing the procedure is likely to change soon.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:55, 6 February 2009 (EST)
    • That's good :). Still, I'm upset nobody wants to talk to me :(. I'm fine with it really. --IronyUTC CH 13:57, 6 February 2009 (EST)
      • I just left a message for you on your talk page, Irony. Better now? j/k ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:00, 6 February 2009 (EST)
        • Just a bit. You've stopped me crying now :) --IronyUTC CH 14:02, 6 February 2009 (EST)

FlamingBiscuits

Ryan, could you go through his contributions? Every now and then some of his contributions constitute vandalism and possible revert war. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:52, 6 February 2009 (EST)

  • I'll take a look. Thanks for the heads up. By the way, if you take issue with an edit or multiple edits from contributors, feel free to make comments on their talk pages. It helps if discipline needs to be taken--that way they're not hearing it from me for the first time, and we cover ourselves by warning people of their behavior within a reasonable amount of time. When doing so, keep in mind Wikipedia's excellent principle of assuming good faith, realizing that edits that may look like vandalism may not be as intentional as they seem. When correcting an editor for the first time, it's okay to be kind and polite yet firm and direct. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:04, 6 February 2009 (EST)
    • Yeah, I've had trouble with polite yet firm in the past, I'm sick of people accusing me of pursuing them and checking if I'm a sypop before they start disrespecting me. Long story short, AGF hardly ever works for me. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:29, 6 February 2009 (EST)
      • It's not an easy principle to follow. Believe me, I know! However, it's still an integral part of wiki-ing. Take a look at this essay--it might help put things into perspective a bit. If people disrespect you, that's one thing--let me know if anybody is disrespectful to you, and I will take care of it from the administrator's level. However, we should never begin a "confrontational" discussion (like calling somebody on their silly edits) by being rude ourselves. I'm not pointing that to you at all--I can't think of any times you have been rude. I'm just saying that as a general guideline for anybody reading this. And you're right, AGF very often doesn't work. Many times, people vandalize the site, and they do it intentionally. However, it would be a shame to automatically ban everybody from the site who has ever made an edit that's silly. Some of our very good editors (and even a patroller or two) began with a rough start and by making silly and/or antagonistic edits. They turned themselves around and got their acts together, thank goodness. If we hadn't exercised AGF, they wouldn't be here. Now, that's not the case with everybody, of course. But we don't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater, of course. Long story short, I know it's not always easy to be patient, but it's still necessary. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:43, 6 February 2009 (EST)

The plane crash

Hey, I'm a newbie in editing so I just wanted to ask the experienced ones if they could make a new article here about the plane crash in the last episode. Thanks!--Alen76 16:16, 7 February 2009 (EST)

  • I could...but if you're inexperienced, you might want to try to make the article yourself for practice. Don't worry about messing up--others will be by to fix and clean and edit it. Just click on this link and start editing! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:04, 7 February 2009 (EST)
