Volume One

The world will split in two...

Volume One: Cataclysm is a fan fiction series written by Creedog VanDrey. It is second part of his The World Entire series. It takes place in an alternate continuity during the Exposed Future shown in I Am Become Death, with many flashbacks dating from 1973 to 2008, and one fifteen-month flash-forward to introduce Volume Two: Progeny. It features a large cast of characters.

Chapters

There are 22 chapters in Volume One, which the main action occurring between the dates of August 31, 2011, and September 18, 2011. Each episode begins with a monologue, presumably by Mohinder, with the common theme of religion and spirituality. Each episode also includes a flashback, introducing all of the Company founders and many other past characters.

The Child in My Dreams

Chapter 1

The Talmud tells us: "Whoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world. And whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world." But what is to be done when the entire world really is in danger? Is it enough to save one life only to damn it when the ultimate tragedy cannot be averted? Too many lives hang in the balance, but perhaps, the greater tragedy would be that people stop saving the one when they try to save the many.

In 1989, Angela Petrelli visits Maury Parkman and asks him to retrieve a memory of a child in her dreams, a future grandchild. She asks him to join her in visiting Carlos Mendez, which he agrees to. In 2011, she sends Company agents Meredith Gordon and Victor Abano to ground zero of the Costa Verde Disaster to retrieve a threat. They balk at the issue of radiation, but Angela promises them Natural regenerator blood to heal them.

The Face in My Mind

Chapter 2

The Christian Gospels are filled with the stories of a man named Jesus of Nazareth, who performed a great many miracles. Perhaps most wondrous of all were his miracles of healing. He gave sight to the blind. He made the lame walk. He cast out demons. And he raised a man from the dead. Is this not enough to tell us that life is precious? That the human body, so complex and mysterious, is likely our most valued possession? And what about the soul? More than for healing the body, Jesus is credited for saving the soul. And what exactly is the separation between the two, if any at all?

After Daphne returns to her apartment and dies (I Am Become Death), Matt Parkman tries to use a packet of Claire’s blood to revive her while Molly unsuccessfully tries to keep her baby sister from crying; Matt succeeds in reviving her but she remains in a coma-like state. Back in 1989, Angela takes Maury to visit Carlos Mendez, where she commissions young Isaac to draw an image of the face in her mind.

The Blood Between Us

Chapter 3

Blood is life. Every religion has its ties to blood. The Aztecs performed human sacrifices as a tribute to the sun god Huitzilopochtli. Germanic pagan tribes performed Blóts, sacrifices of blood. It is expressly forbidden to be consumed in Jewish and Islamic law. Christians believe that wine becomes the blood of Christ. The vampire myths all speak of the drinking of blood to attain immortality. Is it any surprise that we call the act of murder "shedding blood"? Or that we call our family "our blood"?

After Peter Petrelli splits open Nathan's head, Claire has a superstrong agent to break open the door to the morgue and saves her father by injecting him with her blood. Back in 2001, Angela enlists Kaito Nakamura and Victoria Pratt to figure out which of her sons will birth the child she has waited for. Using a summary of genetic inheritance provided by Victoria, Kaito examines the data and determines that the child must be Gabriel and Elle Bishop’s, and that he will have a resurrecting ability. Back in 2011, this prophecy comes true when Meredith discovers the Special she and Victor are after is indeed Noah Gray.

Second Chances

Chapter 4

"Worn-out garments are shed by the body; Worn-out bodies are shed by the dweller within the body. New bodies are donned by the dweller, like garments." These are the words of the Bhagavad Gita about reincarnation. Reincarnation is hardly unique to Hinduism. Perhaps the beliefs echo our lives. Every day gives us a new opportunity to become a new person, for better or for worse. We can strip off the garments of hatred and revenge, tattered with overuse, and put on instead clothes of mercy and selflessness. Will we then become gods, as karmic rewards for our devotion to goodness? But why then take us away from the struggles of the world when we are at that point best suited to correct them?

Nathan and his entourage travel to Brooklyn to visit Matt Parkman. The Haitian blocks Matt's telepathy, alerting Matt to the fact that the President is really there. Under a cone of silence provided by an agent, Nathan tries to recruit Matt Parkman to replace his wife at Pinehearst. Matt is initially skeptical, but Nathan promises him medical services for his wife and schooling for his daughters, so Matt agrees. Back in 1974, Arthur Petrelli and Paula Gramble, using her ability of Probability manipulation to find him, recruit Maury to the newly-forming Company. In the present, Meredith brings Noah back to the Barstow Primatech Facility, noticing his invulnerability and strength. Once there, Meredith takes an injection of regenerator blood and Angela admits that she foresaw his birth.

Families

Chapter 5

Family is of sacred importance in Islam. The Prophet Mohammad declared to his followers: "Marry each other and produce new off-spring so that your numbers may increase." The Qu’ran demands that husband and wife be equal in marriage and that the husband should treat his wife with kindness. It demands the same of parents to their children, and to children it demands respect for their parents. But what is it really that makes us love those that we share blood or affection with? Is it just biological, a by-product of evolution? Mothers of all species protect their young. Or is there more? Does God put that love in us, like a reflection of His love? Does it come from chemicals in the brain... or from the soul? This love keeps families together. Yet somehow there are forces that can tear that bond apart. Perhaps that is the greatest tragedy of our species.

Gabriel and Elle rush to Primatech to find their resurrected son, Noah, safe and sound. Meredith forces Angela to admit to her foreknowledge of Noah's birth, which angers Elle but only mildly annoys Gabriel. To prevent Elle from leaving in a huff, she tells about Noah's ability. Elsewhere, Matt begins his first day at Pinehearst, meeting his team lead Claire Bennet, and his boss Arthur Petrelli. Back at Primatech, First Lady Tracy Petrelli visits to facility to check on Noah, and to inquire about the whereabouts of the past Peter Petrelli. Though the meeting begins cordial, she is soon met with hostility because of the rivalry between the two companies, as well as Pinehearst's part in Peter's death.

The Lives We Live

Chapter 6

One of the central philosophies in Buddhism is the timelessness of self. The self always was, never wasn’t, always is, and always will be, never to cease existing. To even consider otherwise is simply counterproductive. In this mindset, much becomes meaningless: possessions, vengeance, greed, lust, responsibility, even love. However, it is just as large of sin to neglect the next world for this one as the other way around. The Fourteenth Dalai Lama once told Pope John Paul II that one thing he admired about the Christian Church was its dedication to social justice, that it was a virtue too long neglected among Buddhists. The greatest mission for any person must be to help another, to help all, to help self, or the world will surely crumble.

User:CreedogV/TheWorldEntire/Micah Sanders, while working on a robotic dragonfly, is visited by his Aunt Tracy. Matt uses his position at Pinehearst to kidnap Peter's body from the morgue after it heals in Claire's presence. He attempts to rescue Molly from Pinehearst's academy, but she's already escaped. In Ikitsuki, Japan, Hiro is attempting to map the timeline, but can't remember all his changes, and misses a former love. In 1994, Bob Bishop and a 12-year-old Elle Bishop drop in on a 17-year-old Gabriel at his father's watch repair shop. Already, Gabriel is demonstrating his ability, but Bob doesn't recognize it as an ability. Elle develops a crush on Gabriel.

Turning the Tide

Chapter 7

In Greek mythology, the gods lorded over the mortals. The Greeks believed their gods to be petty and temperamental, showing favoritism. In other words, like themselves, only wielding great power. A victory in war was attributed to favor with the god Ares or goddess Athena. A massive, ship-wrecking storm was the work of an unsatisfied Poseidon. Though, if history has told us anything, there is a balance between fate and free will. Our actions have consequences, even if we can’t see them. Some things cannot be avoided, but as humans we are given the reasoning to react to them in a productive—or detrimental—manner. But what can we do when we see the seemingly inevitable storms of the future on the horizon? Do we dare challenge the will of the gods and make our own destiny? And, if we succeed, what would we find when we get there?

Monica, in the guise of St. Joan, captures Xavier Daniau. She's a Company agent and is partnered with Lyle Bennet. Matt confronts Peter in a mind trap. Gabriel and Elle enjoy a domestic moment and Gabriel decides to rejoin the Company. Molly arrives at Mohinder's lab.

The Right Choice

Chapter 8

The Wiccan Rede, the guiding philosophy of morality of Wicca, is “Do as ye will, as long as ye harm none.” Life is a path, a long succession of diverging roads where one must make a decision. Fight or flight. Love or loss. Step up or step off. The road less traveled by. Turn the other cheek. Join or die. Coffee or tea. Every moment, every second, every heartbeat, is an opportunity to take a stand against the wrongs of the world. Or to cower and retreat. Life is a test by fire. Can we know what choices we will make when the time comes? Surely not. But can we fight in the present, ruling the time we have now to be too precious? That, my friend, is the question we should be asking ourselves.

While being transferred, Xavier manages to escape, fatally injuring Lyle, but is killed by Monica while trying to flee. Monica stabilizing Lyle and is both chastised and lauded by her superior, Amy Carlson. Ando breaks into Yamagato Industries, and confront the CEO, Kimiko Nakamura about Hiro's whereabouts. Kimiko is calm, resolute, and protective, and attempts to use her Synthetic ability to seduce Ando, who finally concedes once he and Kimiko come to an understanding that he will not hurt Hiro. Matt lets Peter out of his trance, and the two resolve to save the world together once they find Molly, which Peter does after teaching himself her ability. Gabriel, on his first day of work back with the Company, is partnered with Ryan Covington by Angela. Elle and her partner, Bess Detskij arrive and announced the two partnerships have been assigned to work together on a case in LA.
