In this timeline, evil Adam is alive and well...
|First mentioned:||Dying of the Light|
|Date of event:||Multiple possible futures|
The "Adam future" is created by an alternate action which involves Maury Parkman saving the life of Adam Monroe after Arthur Petrelli tries to steal his power. So far, with the creation of this timeline, very little has changed in the timeline as of An Invisible Thread, but from this stage, Adam becomes more active and an alternate 2008 is created which leads into a new version of Volume Five.
When Arthur tries to absorb Adam's ability to heal himself from paralysis, Maury creates a mental illusion which convinces Arthur that Adam is dead. With only part of is power stolen, Adam is allowed to escape later while Arthur heals and leaves with Dr. Livitz. Maury then tells Adam to run.
After creating an illusion to convince Arthur that Adam is dead, Maury tells Adam to run. Adam flees the Pinehearst Headquarters, rendering Dr. Livitz unconcious on the way out after trying to stop him. Adam then enters an office and steals a gun, promising to come back.
Adam breaks into Pinehearst, rendering a security guard unconcious.
Adam then follows Tina Ramierez and remembers the security code to enter the main office area. He does so but is grabbed by Tina and Michael Fitzgerald. The latter lifts him off the ground with his strength while Tina tries to choke him. When he heals in front of them he convinces them he's on their side, and tells them that Primatech have captured the building and Arthur is dead. Michael goes to check for guards by ripping the security door off, but sees nothing. Adam then shoots him dead and then holds Tina at gunpoint demanding answers.
Next, Adam leads Tina to Carla Klaus' office and asks of Arthur and the plans of Pinehearst. Carla insists they are just a biotech company, so Adam forces Tina to choke her to death. Adam then offers Tina freedom by giving the guards a distraction so he can continue his rampage by flooding the ground floor with chlorine gas. She does so but passes out from stress while Adam heals much quicker.
After Flint blows up the building, Adam heals quickly, satisfying him grealty while he watches the building collapse.
Danko asks Noah Bennet how the "Monroe case" is going, to which Noah replies that Adam has slipped away again, but he's been sighted in both Beverley Hills and California.
Having just had his power stolen by Arthur, Adam is forced to sleep rough on his own. He manages to steal bread, but is later attacked by a man who can turn his body metal. Adam is left with a shattered skeleton and internal damage which he does not recover from. Adam wakes up several hours later, partially healed and angered.
Adam later manages to stowaway on a bus to Los Angeles to escape a dangerous gang fight nearby. He then seeks refuge in a suburban street, and a woman with a baby opens the door stating karma has caught up with her.
The woman states she needs to do a good deed because she was granted too much money from a cash machine. Allowing Adam in, she notices his scar is clearing up slightly and notes he appears to be different like her husband who could read thoughts. This reminds Adam of Maury, who is Matt's father.
Having given Adam some food and a suit, Janice leaves the room to have a shower. While she is gone, Adam picks up Matt, remembering his own sons and wondering what happened to them. He notes he does not like children even now. He puts Matt down and notices that his cuts are cleaning up nicely, and decides to leave quickly.
After studying the corpses for any evidence of who sent them, Adam finds a file on himself which contains a picture of his known descendants; the German and his identical twin. Adam states that the team have done their research, but is dismayed to learn that the German's brother is unseen, and it confirms the death of his brother. Adam checks a piece of paper that says Zimmerman at the top.
Later he knocks on a door, and Dr. Zimmerman opens. He asks Adam who he is, but Adam simply states he is Harry Fletcher and has some business to finish.
Zimmerman tells Adam he has no idea what happened to either the German or his brother, and asks Adam why he wants to know. Adam says he is a distant relation, but Zimmerman calls in Barbara and tells Adam he knows Harry Fletcher; and he's dead. Barbara uses her ability to pin Adam down into an armchair, and begins to take information from him.
Zimmerman warns Adam that Barbara will kill Adam if need be, but Adam replies that he'll simply heal from the wounds. Barbara tells Zimmerman that Adam has developed new mental powers, so Zimmerman takes a blood sample from him.
Later, he analyses the sample and tells Barbara that Adam's brain capacity is beyond that of a regular evolved human. He states there are traces of four abilities inside Adam: rapid cell regeneration, enhanced memory, enhanced hearing and healing. Zimmerman gravely states that the German's brother may have a similar genetic make-up, and that they need to capture him.
The German's brother is in his apartment when he recieves a text message from Barbara telling him to run. He crumples the phone and runs for his life.
Back at Zimmerman's, Adam tells Barbara he knows what she's doing because he's been watching her. She warns him to be quiet and restrains him again. She then propels a syrine filled with an amnesic drug into his arm causing him to pass out immediately. Zimmerman states they need to leave now, and that he has tracked the German's brother down to his apartment in Seattle.
Barbara puts Adam into the back of the van while she and Zimmerman prepare to leave. As they start the van up, Adam opens one eye and has a flashback to his confrontation with Barbara, but decides he must keep quiet, for now...
Upon reaching the Seattle border, the van is stopped, but the man who stops them is hiding the dead border patrol staff in their office. Barbara glimpses this, and absorbs information from the agent and learns that Danko is tracking them down. Another agent nearby warns Taub that Ms Strauss has been sighted and that this needs to be relayed to their boss.
The van is immediately surrounded and Zimmerman is captured. Barbara is shot in the heart and drops to the floor lifelessly. Adam uses his enhanced hearing to discover what's going on, but notes that Barbara isn't dead, and her telekinetic ability weakened the bullet's impact.
Outside, a lone agent shoots at her in the head to finish with, but Barbara stops the bullet and launches it back killing the agent. As he drops his communication device, Danko can be heard shouting through that the woman isn't tracy, but one of the three sisters.
In the back of a van, Zimmerman pleads to be released, but an agent tells him that he is required to create a way of removing abilities.
