But do you know if an Australian TV network is broadcasting Heroes? It was previously on channel Seven but I am not sure whether or not they are showing the latest season. They have had a habit of putting Heroes on later and later as the season progresses and I am unsure whether they will even bother this season.--Steelymcbeam 23:34, 1 February 2009 (EST)

• Wow, someone in the same boat as me! As far as I know, Seven still own the rights to the show, but will probably air Volume Four, and, by that stage, possibly Five, in the ratings off-season in December-January. If you weren't aware, Heroes hasn't exactly set the ratings on fire in Australia. About Peter's current ability

Before I went and made up another ability, I wanted to get your thoughts on the subject. I was thinking about making "Ability mimicry" and having the description be: The ability to temporarily exhibit the ability of another evolved human after physical contact. It seems that he was no longer able to use the strength he picked up from Mohinder after he touched Tracy and acquired her ability of Freezing. • I think you're absolutely right, he wasn't able to use Mohinder's strength. It was almost as if he was only able to hold on to one ability at a time. Interesting, too, that Nathan asked him what he was able to do these days, and Peter replied, "What was the last thing you saw me do?" I think that's the essence of his ability now. I don't think that's really been confirmed yet, though, so I'm not sure I would add a new ability page yet.   • I figured at first that he had the same ability he had before and that they just added an effect to it. However the fact that they added an effect, coupled with his touching Mohinder (and Tracy) first, plus his comment to Nathan... and finally PLUS their realization that Peter becomes too powerful too easily probably convinced them to alter his ability slightly now that he got it back. It could also explain why he was so worried about getting blown out of the plane rather than just flying back inside. So at this point I think you're right and his ability is now different... which I'm very glad to see. (Admin 22:36, 2 February 2009 (EST))
    • Agree, Admin. I'm very happy that it's different--yet it still maintains the essence of his old ability, which was absorbing the abilities of others.       • Isn't "ability mimicry" good enough? I mean, empathy doesn't appear to be required at the moment so I don't think that has to be part of the name. Number of Episodes for Season 3?

Question about contributions - user pages created

• Hi Ryan, long time not internet chat speak :). Is there any way to get a list of user pages created instead of the wiki pages?
  (Sorry not to the point, but also (1) Should I create a few of the un-aired character pages as the whole of Seson 2 is virtually blank and I have the DVD so I know who they are. a few things

Hey Ryan. First off, I notice that the navbar at the top of your talk page needs updating to include your Archive 23 (January 2009). Second, if it's not too much work, could you please delete all the pages/templates inside my User:Radicell/Webisodes project? It's a project I've abandoned, so I don't need those pages/templates anymore. Thirdly, I've notice another example of the naming issue I talked about last time. This time, I think Marie should be moved to Marie (Moonlight Serenade), so that the Marie page can be a redirect to Marie (disambig). Character connections

Ryan, do you know if there is a program that would allow me to create a character connection chart? Something like this and this? Something like they have at the Marvel website (like this). Since Heroes has so many characters and we already have a connections page, I thought it'd be interesting to have something like that. • Sorry, I don't know of anything specific that could make that kind of a chart. Actually, the two from Lostpedia look like they're just made with an image editor like Gimp. In fact, most of the tools might be available on a program like Microsoft Word or Word Perfect....I feel like I've seen something like that on Facebook...maybe like a relationship chart or something?     • I don't think Sylar has the same ability as Peter originally had. Similar, but not the same. I think he learned how to absorb Elle's power through being an empathetic person, but I don't think he had the same ability as Peter. It helps if discipline needs to be taken--that way they're not hearing it from me for the first time, and we cover ourselves by warning people of their behavior within a reasonable amount of time. When doing so, keep in mind Wikipedia's excellent principle of assuming good faith, realizing that edits that may look like vandalism may not be as intentional as they seem.     • It's not an easy principle to follow. Believe me, I know! However, it's still an integral part of wiki-ing. Take a look at this essay--it might help put things into perspective a bit. If people disrespect you, that's one thing--let me know if anybody is disrespectful to you, and I will take care of it from the administrator's level. However, we should never begin a "confrontational" discussion (like calling somebody on their silly edits) by being rude ourselves. I'm not pointing that to you at all--I can't think of any times you have been rude. I'm just saying that as a general guideline for anybody reading this. And you're right, AGF very often doesn't work. Many times, people vandalize the site, and they do it intentionally. However, it would be a shame to automatically ban everybody from the site who has ever made an edit that's silly. Some of our very good editors (and even a patroller or two) began with a rough start and by making silly and/or antagonistic edits. They turned themselves around and got their acts together, thank goodness. If we hadn't exercised AGF, they wouldn't be here. Now, that's not the case with everybody, of course. But we don't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater, of course. • Thanks for the suggestion, Badluck. I actually prefer just calling the ability "Peter's ability" for now since the writers and producers don't have a name for it yet. But that's just my opinion. I am adding relevant theories that have not been disproven to the Theory:Drug dealer page, but Intuitive Empath continues to delete them, stating he will not let another Mr Muggles happen. I don't understand, the theories I posted are possible and until otherwise should be allowed to rest on the theory page. Sortnames

Hi, I noticed you undid my edits to the sortnames of Male party guest, Female party guest (I), and Female party guest (II). However, the reason I changed them was because of here, where the same sort of situation occurs, using "fan" instead of "Party guest". I had thought that terms that differentiate conflicting characters (Male/Female, Black-haired/Redhead, (I)/(II)), etc. were to be left out of sortnames, that's why I had changed them. So, in this case, "Male" and "Female" stays? In that case should we change Portal:Matt-Related Graphic Novel Characters too?

• Portals are one things, categories are another. A portal's organization is a little bit looser and can cut off parts of names to suit spacing, organizing, or whatever, really. However, if you user the sortname variable in the character box, it sorts the article under that name in every category. So, that means female party guest (I) would be sorted under "P" in Category:Characters, Category:Humans, Category:Female Characters, and every other category on which that character is listed. The only explicit changes that really should be made is to sort a person by their last name instead of their first names in the categories. I can't think of too many other sortname changes that would need to be made. Does that make sense, or am I speaking gibberish? (I have a habit of that.) Age appropriate

Gots a question for you... what is the "age rating" of Heroeswiki? I was contemplating making the second part of my sig "talk dirty to me..." but didn't want to offend.

The origin of why I would be using that will be a little more understood once I get my user page finished.

• There is no age limit for Heroes Wiki...but I tend to edit my own speech to be about the same level of appropriateness as Heroes itself. I don't personally have a problem with either one of the issues you're asking about. Just remember that there are young kids (tweens) who regularly frequent this site. For Ability Replication?

Should we be adding "replicated by" as a new part of the power infobox? It is so far, quite different from empathic mimicry and doesn't look to be going away so shouldn't it be added to inform exactly how Peter is using the stated ability?--Steelymcbeam 06:44, 12 February 2009 (EST)

• I don't understand. Isn't there already a variable for absorbed by in the power infobox? When Peter uses his new ability, he's absorbing the powers of others. Saying he replicated the powers is synonymous. I understand we're making a distinction between empathic mimicry and Peter's new ability, but they're both abilities that allow Peter to absorb the abilities of others. Similarly, intuitive aptitude, power absorption, and aura absorption allow Sylar, Arthur, and Linda to absorb the abilities of others. Autosig question

Hey there RGS, I had a question about my autosig. I finally decided to make one yesterday. However, whenever I try to enter my signature using ~~~~, instead of putting {{User:Thrashmeister/Sigmeister}}, it just puts all of the content for my signature in {{User:Thrashmeister/Sigmeister}} on the page that I'm trying to sign. I checked my preferences, and it turns out that even though I put {{User:Thrashmeister/Sigmeister}} as my signature, it converts it to {{SUBST:User:Thrashmeister/Sigmeister}} as soon as I save my preferences. How can I make it so that my signature turns out like yours, or anyone else's autosig? Do I actually have to type out {{User:Thrashmeister/Sigmeister}} every time I want to sign? • You need both a sig and an autosig subpage. Have the sig be your actual sig and the autosig contain a template invocation of your sig. That should do it, as long as you point your preferences to the autosig. It's explained in Help:Signatures.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:11, 13 February 2009 (EST)

  • Yeah, I think you can add it, but you need to use the time builtin. It's kind of tricky coding, though, so it may take some troubleshooting.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:11, 13 February 2009 (EST)
