*** Oh, I see what you're saying. Well, that's quite a bit of code that needs to be added to a template for just a few links to less significant pages. I could do it, but I'm feeling sick and lazy right now. I'm actually heading to take a nap in the next little while, and I'll see if I can get around to it when I'm done. :) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 19:19, 6 January 2009 (EST) {{Ryan's To Do}}

Copycat

Ryan, there's this user, Slayer, who has copied and pasted the about section of my user page onto his page, and just changed a few words. Plus, he did it without my permission. Could you please do domething about it? User:Biohazard (talk) - 1 Januray 2009 18:53 (GMT)

  • Technically, any contributions you make to Heroes Wiki are released to the public under the Creative Commons License. I don't think Slayer means any harm--I'm sure he just liked what you have on your user page (it's very clever!). Have you tried approaching him first? I would just ask him kindly to remove what he borrowed from your user page first. If that doesn't work, let me know and we'll see if we can go another route. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 13:56, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Arthur's Office

Hi ryan just saying that i have edited arthur's office could you see what its like ?.Also i was thinking we could rename it to "Pinehearst Chairman's Office" a bit like bob's.is that ok ? Gabriel Bishop 16:08, 1 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • I'll take a look at the edits. I oppose the name change, though. As far as we know, Arthur is the only person who has ever occupied that office. Also, we don't know that he was the "chairman" of Pinehearst. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:32, 1 January 2009 (EST)

JT's response

Did JT say whether or not he should get credited for the iStory or whether he could help get us the credits?--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:22, 1 January 2009 (EST)

  • See Talk:iStory. He said, "Glad you liked it. It was a fun story to do, especially since it fed off the iStory I helped work on." I just emailed him a reply about two minutes ago. If/when I hear back, I'll let you know. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:28, 1 January 2009 (EST)
    • So no reply from JT and David's message said nothing about the credits?--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:30, 6 January 2009 (EST)
      • JT said, "I'm not sure why the people behind the istory have been kept under wraps, but for now I would ask that you keep it off the wiki stuff. I am sure NBC and Heroes will offer it sometime. And, for the record, the idea was not my brainchild. I merely came in to help out." Nothing from David about the iStory. I don't know if I specifically asked him, though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:09, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Patrolling

Just read the Patrollers page and yeah, I'm definitely game. No particular questions that I can think of at the moment. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 23:56, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Fugitives

Hey ryan im trying to make a new page on the fugitives but it keeps going on to the volume 4 bit in the season 3 page could you help me ? Gabriel Bishop 06:36, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • That's where Fugitives should redirect, since it's the name for Volume 4, which is the second half of Season Three. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 10:00, 2 January 2009 (EST)
    • I know that but i wanted to make a page on the fugitives (peter, ando, matt, claire, tracy, mohinder, hiro) Gabriel Bishop 13:23, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
      • Right now, with what's aired, nobody is a fugitive yet. Let's wait until the episode airs in February. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 14:46, 2 January 2009 (EST)
        • oh right you see i wanted to make a page coz i never made one becuase i thought we could make one since there is already a page on sylar's dad and other volume 4 characters ? Gabriel Bishop 14:53, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
          • You can call it Spoiler:Fugitives as long as it has published spoilers and information from previews. By the way, when responding on a talk page, it's customary to thread your comment by adding one more asterisk before your comment. So I just used 5 asterisks, and if you respond you would use six asterisks (******). Your next comment would go on the very next line, with no blank line in between. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:03, 2 January 2009 (EST)
            • Ok ryan ive done the page but its gone a bit wrong could you help me Gabriel Bishop 16:57, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
              • All that was missing was the }} at the end of the infobox template. I added that and now it's showing correctly. There are some things that need to be fixed up, but I'll let you do that so you can get some practice. Good job! (And good job with the discussion threading, too!) :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:07, 2 January 2009 (EST)
                • Thanks :) Gabriel Bishop 17:14, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
                  • Oh ryan thanks for helping me with my own Assignment Tracker pages.I only found out about half an hour ago thier GREAT !!! Gabriel Bishop 18:28, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
                    • You're welcome. I only created the template last night. I'm still working on it. I was not helping you so much as trying something out for myself. I'm still tweaking the template a bit. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:38, 2 January 2009 (EST)
                      • Thats ok But GREAT JOB :) Gabriel Bishop 18:56, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

So when the interview will come up? Manwithnoname 10:05, 2 January 2009

  • As soon as I hear back from Adam Armus and Kay Foster. I image that with the holidays, they haven't touched the interview questions. I'll send them a reminder email today or tomorrow. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 10:06, 2 January 2009 (EST)

How do I make redirects again? -- Tristan0709 talk 22:44, 2 January 2009 (EST)

  • Type the following code on the page:
    #redirect [[NEW LINK]]
Then save the page and you're done. Let me know if it doesn't work. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:49, 2 January 2009 (EST)

Hey, do you know why when you select "Show preview" on a redirect page, it comes up with "1. redirect link"? -- Tristan0709 talk 02:57, 4 January 2009 (EST)

  1. Because the pound sign by itself usually shows a number, just like at the beginning of my message. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 02:58, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Rather than start another heading, I jus thought I'd ask here. A Clear and Present Danger is going to be referred to as "314" and not "401", correct? -- Tristan0709 talk 03:06, 4 January 2009 (EST)

  • That's correct. The "3" refers to the season, not the volume. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 03:08, 4 January 2009 (EST)
    • Cool, thought so. My massive redirect assignment is OK, isn't it? -- Tristan0709 talk 03:11, 4 January 2009 (EST)
      • I don't have a problem with it...though somebody else can patrol those edits, not me. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 03:12, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Awards & nominations

Is that alright? -- Tristan0709 talk 02:48, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • Yeah, I think it looks good. I assume you'll be doing the nominations, too... -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 10:59, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Yes, of course. Working on it as we speak. -- Tristan0709 talk 21:12, 3 January 2009 (EST)
      • No rush. I just wanted to know if I should do it, or if you're working on it. Thanks! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:31, 3 January 2009 (EST)
        • Cool. Would it lok better to have multiple nominations from one awards show (like the Emmys) in one cell or different rows? -- Tristan0709 talk 21:44, 3 January 2009 (EST)
          • Try all the similar types of awards together, i.e. all the Emmys in one cell. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:47, 3 January 2009 (EST)
            • Cool. I'll separate them by years, of course. -- Tristan0709 talk 22:01, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Nextpart and Lastpart

I added nextpart and lastpart to the Webisode sidebar per prior discussion, and added it as appropriate to the Recruit and Hard Knox webisodes thus far. If it looks good, we can apply the changes to the Graphic Novels as well. What do you think?--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:01, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • The graphic novels are specifically numbered and have a very definite order (with the exception of the two bonus issues The Rogue and The Last Shangri-La). The webisodes, however, are not released in as way that is as linear as the graphic novels. They have been released concurrently, and sometimes more than one at a time. The order on the Heroes news page is somewhat arbitrary--it's really just a list of when things are released, not an official order. I don't mind using it for numbering our webisodes, but I don't think we need to be slaves to that list. The nextpart and lastpart variables for the webisode sidebar is a good way to scoot around that a bit. It looks good, though it's a bit confusing. I don't think we need to apply it to the graphic novels, though. I'd rather just see a note on War Buddies, Part 6 that says the graphic novel is continued with War Buddies, Part 7. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 11:17, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Image questions

Hey. I just had a question and a few corrections about images. First, I'd like to correct two of the image names (specifically moving Image:Elle's AT.jpg to Image:Elle Bishop's AT.jpg and Image:Brendan Lewis' AT.jpg to Image:Brendan Lewis's AT.jpg simply for consistency's/grammar's respective sakes. I didn't see a move option on the image pages, so I'm guessing image pages can't be moved. If it's a hassle, we can leave it the way it is though. Also, regarding your comment on number of images uploaded, I had a followup on that topic I was wondering if you could address when you get a chance. Thanks. --Stevehim 15:38, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • Images can't be moved. If you want, you can upload the images with the correct name, and then I'll delete the old ones. It's not a hassle at all. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:42, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Ok, I'll do that now then. Thanks again. --Stevehim 15:43, 3 January 2009 (EST)
  • Regarding your follow up question--I saw it. You use your best judgment, Stevehim. You're not a spammer, you're not one of those guys who uses the wiki solely as his own personal RPG, you're a strong contributor--if you want to upload a bunch of images for a project, I don't personally see a problem with it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:44, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Kissing guy

I was just wondering what was going to happen with him. As there seem to be alot of links to him. --laughingdevilboy 15:45, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • Oy. Yeah, that's one of those things nagging at the back of my mind. It's been over a year now, and nobody's been able to find him. I've looked so many times for anything even remotely resembling Jaron White or a kissing guy in the Tim Kring Cut, and haven't been able to find him. :( -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:47, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Oh well, I would look myself but dont have the deleted scenes. Maybe we should just remove the links until we can find a picture in the deleted scene and keep the actor page for reference. --laughingdevilboy 15:49, 3 January 2009 (EST)
      • I can always undelete the actor page. There's no sense in having an actor page if we don't have a corresponding character page, or if we're not even sure the character ever appeared. I'll take care of the deletions in a few minutes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:50, 3 January 2009 (EST)
        • Just thought I would bring it to your attention :) Nice to see things get done quick lol. --laughingdevilboy 15:52, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Assigment Tracker 2.0

Hey ryan could you help me with my assignment tracker page ? i got stuck on my pic and the power bar where i have put 90% fore peter. Gabriel Bishop 16:54, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • Your image needs to be in the format Gabriel Bishop.JPG, not [[Image:Gabriel Bishop.JPG]]. I don't know what was wrong with Peter's percentage, other than you were missing a percent sign. There is no bar for the similar person. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:02, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Thanks i was talking about the control index the line looks slighty wonky.not in the bar Gabriel Bishop 17:11, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
      • It looks fine to me. On another computer, I've seen it about half a pixel off. That's the best I think I can get it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:17, 3 January 2009 (EST)
        • Oh ok it just looks a tiny bit wierd but everything else is great.Good Job looked very complex Gabriel Bishop 17:18, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
          • Thanks. Is anybody else having any problems with the control index line? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:21, 3 January 2009 (EST)
            • Im not sure.if you could tell me the people who have it (i dont know who has) i could check out :) Gabriel Bishop 17:28, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

Sacrifice

You're probably right. However, shouldn't fPeter killing (well, attempting to) Nathan count? It was his brother, after all, not a stranger.--IotV 17.59, 4 January, 2009 (GMT)

  • I don't think killing your brother would really be considered a personal sacrifice, along the same lines of Peter knowing he might die when he fights Sylar at Homecoming. However, I don't care much one way or the other. I don't really edit the recurring themes pages very much. I would take it to the discussion page, I guess, and see what others think. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:39, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Cast section

Hello Ryan. I propose that we add a cast section on each episode page featuring a list of main/guest stars appearing in the episode. See this for a better idea of what I want.--Citizen 13:11, 4 January 2009 (EST)

  • Funny, I think I actually talked to Proudhug about that idea. :) My only issue is that the main cast is set. The rest of the cast is not designated as guest stars or co-stars by anybody but us. But don't we already have the list of appearances on the episode pages? Though it's not exactly the same thing, doesn't that accomplish the same idea of listing who appears in the episode? Plus, I think we used to include which main cast members don't appear in an episode. I don't think we've been doing that this season. That'd be a nice addition, and I think even more helpful to know who doesn't appear than who does appear. What do you think? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:42, 4 January 2009 (EST)
    • Still, a cast section makes the pages look more professional and complete. It doesn't indicate ANYWHERE, save for the cast portals and minor actor pages, that they appeared on the show. Also, isn't guest starring the names that appear in the opening credits and co-stars the names that appear in the closing credits? Also, even if the main cast is always credited, we could just not include those who didn't appear in the episode, as seen here regarding Elisha Cuthbert. Are they even credited if they don't appear?--Citizen 17:41, 4 January 2009 (EST)
      • Why don't you do a mock up in your userspace so I can maybe see exactly what you're talking about and how it would fit on the page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 20:14, 4 January 2009 (EST)
      • Hm, actually, doing it only with guest stars and co-stars would suffice. The problem is that the main cast gets changed through the seasons. How do we handle that?--Citizen 22:45, 4 January 2009 (EST)
        • Hmm, let me mull that over. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:47, 4 January 2009 (EST)
          • I think this is what I want done. We can keep them like that.--Citizen 23:07, 4 January 2009 (EST)
            • I'm not sure we need it. It seems really redundant to have the characters listed twice, and it makes an already long page even longer. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 23:10, 4 January 2009 (EST)
              • Then maybe we can do it with guest stars as seen [1]? At least so that there is something that lists them.--Citizen 23:25, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Don't mean to interfere with your conversation, but I think that an idea like this is great, but should be used in the episode box at the top right of the article, like it is used Beginning of the End here, so that it is easily read and does not clog up the article. -- Tristan0709 talk 00:15, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • If we did it anywhere, I think it'd be best in the Notes or Trivia section, or in a new section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 07:32, 6 January 2009 (EST)
  • It does look good in the infobox, as done on Lostpedia. Ryan?--Citizen 19:04, 6 January 2009 (EST)

In Dual, did we get to see either Tracy Strauss's car's license plate or the President's limo's license plate?--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:20, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Faceoffs page

Ryan, I've been working on a new page in my user-area called Faceoffs. Wondering if you thought it would be something worthwhile to have as a mainpage entry, or just something that should stay in my user-area. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 01/5/2009 11:46 (EST)

I'm just wondering whether you think we could move this page to mainspace? It's only on my userpage at the moment, and I'm pretty pleased with it. Thanks!--IotV 23.24, 5 January 2009 (GMT)

  • It looks good. Why don't you put a {{rename}} template on it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 20:41, 5 January 2009 (EST)
    • I'm not too sure I know how to do that, but I'll give it a go.--Iotv 08.03, 6 January 2009 (GMT)
      • Done! Now we just wait, or what?--Iotv 08.03, 6 January 2009 (GMT)
        • Yeah, give it a few days, and see if anybody has any objections or is in support of it. Then go from there. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 07:32, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Want to be a conductor?

I'm working on a little something right now, in my little fanfic thingies. Is there any chance I could use your nightclub as the setting? I could make you the one in charge of it if you'd like. If you dont want to, I'll be happy to delete it.--Piemanmoo 01:21, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • You know you're famous when people start writing fan-fics about you :) -- Tristan0709 talk 01:26, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • That's very flattering. I don't mind being in a fanfic. :) Can't wait to read it! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 07:32, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Idea

I think there should be a page where people can nominate their self or others for adminship or patrolship. Raiku 17:06, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Admin Nomination

I think that Heroe should become an admin. He has had very constructive edits, and been here really long, longer than you! Raiku 17:11, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks for the suggestion. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:13, 6 January 2009 (EST)
  • Also, why isn't Hardvice part of the staff?--Citizen 18:21, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • He hasn't editing in quite awhile. I think I remember reading on his LJ page that he's got a new business or a new job or something. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:53, 6 January 2009 (EST)
      • So what's your answer to my suggestion? Raiku 18:54, 6 January 2009 (EST)
        • Raiku, I think they need time to discuss and debate (do you discuss and debate?) before making a decision. Please bare with them. Thanks. --DocM 18:58, 6 January 2009 (EST)
          • I don't make sysop promotion decisions unilaterally. That's a decision all the admins would make offsite, usually over email, or by phone in some cases. We look for consensus among the sysops when promoting somebody. However, I wouldn't discuss the merits and demerits of a member in a public forum. A nomination is just that--you have nominated somebody. If the decision is made to promote that member, you will know. If not, no decision or announcement would be made. However, I will be honest in saying that I personally don't think we need any more admins right now, nothing against Heroe or any of the other users that we have considered. We are not as big a site as, say, Wikipedia--just a few admins can keep up with blocking and deleting, which are the main jobs of an admin. Thanks for the suggestion, though, Raiku--we will take it into consideration. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 19:06, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • Wow, I knew Hardvice wasn't around much, but I had no idea he hadn't contributed since the Summer.--Citizen 19:01, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Sorry to ask this..

Could you add something [2] to that page about the German being one of Knox's victims, Maury being one of Arthur's victims, and Samedi being incapacitated? I can't seem to figure out how to do it...--Crazylicious 18:56, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • What would you like me to add? Why don't you try adding what you want to add, and somebody will clean it up if the formatting is off. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 19:10, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • Well, Echo and Jesse both have links to Sylar's victims where it says deceased. The German and Maury need the same link to Knox's victims and Arthur's victims, respectively.--Crazylicious 19:14, 6 January 2009 (EST)
      • Oh, I see what you're saying. Well, that's quite a bit of code that needs to be added to a template for just a few links to less significant pages. I could do it, but I'm feeling sick and lazy right now. I'm actually heading to take a nap in the next little while, and I'll see if I can get around to it when I'm done. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 19:19, 6 January 2009 (EST)
